Coming from someone who has struggled with depression, I feel that this game's representation of depression is simplistic and only touches on the surface-level aspects. It feels like it misses the deeper complexities of the condition, which are often overlooked. I wish the game could have delved deeper into these issues, as they are rarely depicted. Additionally, the progression system can be tedious at times, particularly when you have to walk through a tunnel every time you move forward in the story.
Sadness is an emotion, Depression is a state of mind. You can be happy yet still suffer from depression.
I absolutely adore games like this, with vibrant visuals and deep meaning. Playing it feels like watching a beautiful animated film, sometimes with a sad story.
Plot.
In this game, we meet an ordinary girl named Moon and witness her daily routine - household chores, going to work, and most importantly, her thoughts and worries. When everything around seems fine, even great, our heroine still can't find peace. Sadness and anxiety constantly haunt her, making it hard to focus on work and ambitions, so crucial for her future. This happens to each of us sometimes, usually passing quickly like a small raincloud before a sunny day. But when you've sunk so deep that only dark clouds and endless storms remain on the horizon - that's bad. This is - Depression. The game doesn't just show us problems people face. It carefully explains how deeply this thing can ruin lives. And how without help at the right moment, the outcome will be - death...
Gameplay.
Regarding gameplay, I expected just a 2D interactive story with easy puzzles. But I was surprised when between life stages we walk through a 3D tunnel representing the heroine's thoughts. They will be attached to the walls on the sides. And it is very nice that they are all voiced. And of course the soundtrack. Lovely, perfectly matched, helping immerse in the atmosphere.
Final.
This game turned out to be incredibly touching and true-to-life to me
(unfortunately)
. And the fact that this game is based on real events makes you reflect even more. I strongly recommend experiencing this - perhaps it might even help you save someone's life.
If you read the review and liked it, don't forget to give it a thumbsup;)
The further - The better♥️

Many people seem to misunderstand the purpose of this game.
It’s not about spreading religion or providing a detailed guide to depression. It’s a small game that offers a glimpse into the experience of one character and the specific solution that worked for them. It’s by no means a comprehensive exploration of depression, but rather a way to show that people like this exist. If you’re looking for something that dives deep into the full complexity of this mental illness, you’ll likely be disappointed. However, just like the character said, there are many people and many different forms of depression, so the scenario shouldn’t be thrown out just because it’s not something that someone experienced.

I was surprised to see the amount of negative reviews.. Seems like it's about the few mentions of religion in the game. I didn't like it either but it didn't bother me as much as them (And I'm really not a fan of religion). It's only a small part of the game. As for people complaining about the game being slow and boring.. What were you expecting?? It's an interactive story/visual novel, not a "game". Come on, now. As a person suffering from depression, I thought that the game was extremely relatable. I personally recommend it to anyone interested in or suffering from depression.

Room of Depression is slow, often talks down to you, and constantly drags on. There is a single piece of music that plays the entire time. The only interactivity this game has is minigames, which is used as a means of showing emotional stuggle, and walking down a corridor, which is essentially nothing if not a way to elongate this short experience. I feel like this would have at least been salvageable if it told its story with more detail and without stopping every 5 seconds to explain itself.

Bought this on a whim because the description seemed enticing. Inside is an insufferably boring game (you slowly walk inside an empty tunnel half of the time). The dialogue is unskipable, so you have to sit and wait for every sentence to be pronounced. Besides that it also keeps switching to windowed mode (mac). Don't have the patience or interest to find a fix. Refund requested.

If you have depression, like me, you’ll get nothing from this besides a mildly enjoyable game. If you are not depressed and know quite little about depression, this might be worth it and you may learn from it, but I can’t say definitively
