Really great zombies experience even in 2025. Genre-defining multiplayer. However, NAT type restrictions make playing with friends difficult. The listed price is massively ridiculous for a 13 year old game. Most importantly: the game is possibly not secure. There is a security vulnerability described below. Opening any CoD made prior to 2015 and connecting to the internet will result in a chance for people to gain access to your pc. 2 security breaches are known: CVE-2018-20817 (SV_SteamAuthClient in various Activision Infinity Ward Call of Duty games before 2015-08-11 is missing a size check when reading authBlob data into a buffer, which allows one to execute code on the remote target machine when sending a steam authentication request. This affects Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, Call of Duty: Ghosts, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, Call of Duty: Black Ops 1, and Call of Duty: Black Ops 2.) CVE-2018-10718 (Stack-based buffer overflow in Activision Infinity Ward Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 before 2018-04-26 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via crafted packets) These are some things they can do even if you just boot up the game and get to the menu: Hidden Remote System Access System Information File Manager Hidden Desktop Usage Monitor on/off Hidden Browser Usage Open/close CD Hidden Chrome Usage Show/Hide taskbar Start Up Manager Hidden Firefox Usage Show/Hide Start Button Task Manager Hidden Edge Usage Show/Hide Explorer Remote Shell Usage Show/Hide Clock TCP Connection Show/Hide Tray Reverse Proxy Show/Hide Mouse Registry Editor Hidden Explorer Enable/Disable TaskMgr UAC Exploit Enable/Disable Regedit Disable WD Disable UAC Format All Drives DDOS attack Audio recording Webcam recording Device information Process hollowing Credential stealing Discord token stealing I have reviewed every CoD I own that is older than 2015 with these vulnerabilities as harmful and put those 2 CVE's under the description why. This is to warn others about the issues, as I am not a networking or security expert and can't advise on how to mitigate the risk other than to not install the game at all. It's my slim hope that by leaving this review, the issue might be noticed by Activision/Treyarch and action may be taken. Update: note that a similar RCE exploit was found in Black Ops III and appears to have been fixed in a 2023 update. I have not found reliable information indicating a fix for this game, however.

60 dollars for a 13 year old game. The game itself is good, but the price is actually crazy to me.

Man, going back to Black Ops 2 after all these years really hit me right in the feels. I used to play it as a kid—pirated, of course—because I just couldn’t afford legit games back then. Ran it on this absolute potato of a PC at 1280x1024, everything on low, choppy framerate... but I didn’t care. I was just happy to play it. The game felt like pure magic. Now that I finally got the full Call of Duty collection legally, revisiting BO2 felt like stepping into a time machine. And honestly? The graphics still hold up. There’s something about the vibrant colors, the contrast, the way explosions light up a room—it just feels right. The action sequences are still some of the most epic in the whole franchise. Like, you really feel the chaos around you. The story? Still a banger. Woods and Mason had that gritty, believable bond, and the transitions between the 1980s and the near-future missions with David Mason were surprisingly smooth. It never felt forced. It just worked. And Raul Menendez... man, what a villain. Right up there with Makarov. He wasn’t just evil—he was personal. You understood his rage, even if you didn’t agree with it. What really blew my mind this time around though was the AI. I noticed enemies actually dragging tables and flower pots around to make makeshift cover. Like, who does that anymore? You don’t see that kind of detail in modern CODs. The enemy AI felt tougher too—not just aimbot-style cheap, but smarter. They’d flank, push you out of cover, force you to move. It made the fights feel real. And the guns—god, the guns sound so much better than I remembered. Loud, punchy, satisfying. Not the weak-sauce “pew pew” some newer titles lean into. All in all, Black Ops 2 aged like fine wine. It’s still one of the best CODs ever made, and going back to it with fresh eyes and a proper system made me appreciate it even more. Some things really do get better with time.

In my opinion, the campaign isn’t as good compared to BO1. The zombies mode is amazing and extremely fun to play with randoms or friends. The multiplayer was good too overall, it’s a solid game.

Don't play older CODs. Activision doesn't care about the vulnerabilities in online mode. You run a certain risk by playing. It's a shame Activision is trashing older CODs.

Do not buy Cod on PC. I wish I could play these games but they are completely unsafe. Zombies hurts the most. RIP.

In my opinion, " Call of Duty: Black Ops II " is a very nostalgic game and a great choice for fans of shooters. The campaigns are interesting and have a decent length—unlike the overall game, which feels a bit short because there aren't that many missions. The story can really pull you in to the point where you don’t want to stop playing. The only real downside is the number of bugs in some missions, but it’s forgivable considering the game is quite old and the graphics definitely show its age. Still, I’d recommend it—especially if you enjoy shooters and don’t mind the occasional glitch. ~⛧ 𝑨𝒓𝒄𝒉 ⛧

Why Call of Duty: Black Ops II Is the Best Game Ever Made When it comes to first-person shooters, few games have had as big an impact as Call of Duty: Black Ops II. Released in 2012, this game not only redefined the Call of Duty franchise but also set a new standard for multiplayer, storytelling, and replayability in the gaming industry. Many people consider it the best Call of Duty game—and for good reason. In my opinion, Black Ops II is not just the best game in the series but one of the greatest games ever made. One of the main reasons Black Ops II stands out is its groundbreaking campaign mode. Unlike most first-person shooter campaigns that follow a linear path, Black Ops II introduced a branching storyline with multiple endings. Players' decisions actually affected the outcome of the game, creating a sense of responsibility and replayability that was unheard of at the time. The ability to choose between saving characters, completing side objectives, or making moral decisions made each playthrough unique and personal. The story also jumps between past and future timelines, giving players a rich, immersive narrative that ties together well-loved characters like Alex Mason and new faces like David Mason and Raul Menendez. Another huge factor in the game's success is its iconic multiplayer mode. Black Ops II introduced the Pick 10 system, which gave players unmatched freedom to customize their loadouts and playstyles. This innovation revolutionized multiplayer by allowing players to choose exactly how they wanted to build their classes, leading to countless strategic possibilities and making each match feel fresh. The game also featured some of the most beloved maps in Call of Duty history, such as "Nuketown 2025," "Standoff," and "Raid." These maps were not only fun to play but also beautifully designed and perfectly balanced. Zombies mode is another reason why Black Ops II is so memorable. Building upon the success of its predecessors, the Zombies mode in this game offered more intricate storylines, larger maps, and deeper gameplay mechanics. Maps like "Tranzit," "Mob of the Dead," and "Origins" introduced creative concepts and gave players endless hours of cooperative fun and exploration. The combination of mystery, horror, and strategy in Zombies made it a game within a game, and it remains one of the most beloved parts of the Black Ops experience. Finally, the cultural impact of Black Ops II cannot be ignored. Even over a decade later, players still talk fondly about their memories with friends, late-night gaming sessions, and the intense multiplayer battles. The game’s futuristic setting, balanced gameplay, and iconic characters have made it a nostalgic favorite that stands the test of time. Many gamers, both casual and competitive, consider Black Ops II the peak of the Call of Duty franchise, and it’s still widely played and celebrated today. In conclusion, Call of Duty: Black Ops II is the best game ever made because of its innovative campaign, unmatched multiplayer customization, unforgettable Zombies mode, and lasting cultural legacy. It is a game that brought people together, pushed boundaries, and created countless unforgettable memories. Whether you’re a fan of story-driven experiences, competitive matches, or cooperative survival, Black Ops II truly has something for everyone—and that’s what makes it the best.

Definitely the best CoD game of all time. Before the hackers, this game had an amazing multiplayer as well as the zombies mode. The game still kept it's traditional boots on ground game-play while still having that modern new-gen aesthetic. Unfortunately playing this online is near impossible but buying this just for the campaign is 100% worth the price (that's if you're buying it on sale...) Overall 10 10 game highly recommend!

An ambitious, uneven, but deeply fun and nostalgic COD campaign. Despite bugs and overreach, it stands as one of the series’ most important and creative entries. A must-play for fans of the genre, and for anyone who ever stayed up too late with friends grinding Nuketown or holding off the undead.

I was really enjoying the campaign for this as I never played it when it came out but it keeps crashing during or just after the cutscene that plays on the second to last mission and there doesn't seem to be anyway to fix it. I just can't finish the game which is infuriating. If you can play it on another platform great! Avoid on Steam.

I don't recommending this version of the game because of bigger issues on PC not the game itself but the servers for online is the issue because of hackers that can hack into your computer or worse and hopefully Activision can fix this issue without having old users or new users to witness it.

Pretty good campaign. The game doesn't look as good as I remember it doing, there is some pretty bad pop in. Cool set pieces, most of the levels are good. Raul Menendez is a really compelling villain. Guns feel good to shoot. I had the game crash on me 3 or 4 times, forcing me to replay sections. Really frustrating. I like that you can make different decisions that lead to different endings. Heavily recommended to use a controller for this game. I immediately recognized Admiral Briggs' voice and then I put two and two together. Tony Todd (RIP) the legendary voice of the Vortiguants from Half-Life 2: Episode Two and Alyx.

Call of Duty Black Ops II is one of the games that I think is the best. 1. The Soundtrack Is a banger. 2. The whole campaign is also the best one I've played and I think it might be even better than the other Black Op games. 3. I think that the story and plot is honestly way better than I've seen before. 4. It has multiple endings which is great for a campaign game. P.S: The Mission Karma Has One of the best banger I've heard yet. Edit: Only get this game on a Steam Summer Sale.

Highly Recommended ✅ (A genre-defining classic) Call of Duty: Black Ops II is, without a doubt, one of the best shooters of all time. It helped define the modern FPS genre with its tight gameplay, iconic maps, and unforgettable multiplayer experience. I still remember playing this game overseas while serving in the military—it was more than just a game. It was a way to unwind, connect with friends, and hold on to a bit of normalcy during tough times. Whether it was multiplayer, Zombies, or the underrated campaign, BO2 delivered across the board. This one will always hold a special place in my heart—and in gaming history.

I bought this game for the campaign alone, and the $15 I paid was well worth it. There's some jank from how old this game is, being that you will get stuck in some spots unable to move and you'll have to restart missions, but I enjoy the story enough that I could power through. And the power I feel can easily be humbled in the higher difficulties of this game, which is exactly for the hardcore players if they want it. The multiplayer in this game is enjoyable just as it always was, and zombies in this game may be a bit more challenging than later games, but the ideas and fun are still there if you want to play it. My most recent playthrough I did during the actual month of June in 2025 that this game was set in felt very meta as Ukraine fights Russia with drones and we see the effectiveness of these drones in real life, as this game displays what an alternate timeline or maybe our future could become. Exactly the experience I paid for, some slight jank aside.

The last great Call of Duty, in my opinion. Second most favorite COD campaign ever, closely following Modern Warfare 2 (2009). Loved it so much that I wrote a fan fiction about it with additional content and a new ending. Link: https://www.fanfiction.net/s/14227902/1/Call-of-Duty-Black-Ops-2-Remake

Great single players campaign, legendary multiplayer, fun to revisit every other year or so. Easily peak CoD... so why do I say don't get it now? The game no longer gets updates There's a bug with the sound device picking implementation in the game itself, known issue It will not be fixed You need to disable all sound devices to get the game to launch and exit gracefully This itself is not a 100% reliable fix Save yourself the hassle and play BO1 or one of the original MW games

the campaign is so utterly and proudly fascist that the first mission made me cry. This is a game that demonizes anti-imperialist resistance movements and glorifies black ops violence in a way that is different from the first game. blops 2 multiplayer is a version of cod that uniquely over-rewards playing like a rat, and is characterized by muddy visuals, eye strain, OP streaks, constant UAV spam & minimap reliance

This is just a complete joke. I seriously regret buying it. It’s like the story was written by a bunch of 6 year olds. The animations are awful, embarrassingly bad. Every enemy soldier looks exactly the same. The devs were so lazy they didn’t even bother animating half the scenes, they just fade the screen to black and skip ahead. If I could get back my time and my money, I would in a heartbeat.

Just finished Call of Duty: Black Ops II — and wow, what a ride. The storyline is quite impressive, especially for fans who enjoy in-game narratives with heavy twists. As a direct continuation from BO1, it expands the lore in an ambitious way. That said, I found some parts overly dramatic — almost like watching an Indonesian soap opera. Characters like Mason and Kravchenko who were supposedly dead in BO1 coming back felt a bit forced, and the same goes for the main villain’s return. Still, despite the plot loopholes, this remains one of the strongest narratives in the entire COD franchise. Gameplay-wise, the classic COD gunfights are still sharp and fast-paced — really satisfying for anyone who enjoys tight FPS mechanics. Graphically, it’s a step up from BO1, though the engine still shows its age. Overall: solid campaign, great pacing, memorable moments — definitely worth revisiting.

Probably the greatest story ever told, Black Ops 2 takes you to the future of 2025 (Its crazy that now to us, this game is in the past.), and some parts of 1980s. These two time periods blend perfectly as you play as two separate Masons, Alex in the 1980s, and David in 2025. The Campaign is easily the best, adding a lot of content such as choices that can hugely effect the ending and segments of a level, and the presence of Strike Missions that not only let you play commander, but add on to the choices this game has is just a chefs kiss automatically. You can create your own loadout for any mission, ever like a certain gun or type? No worries, you can bring it into the future, or even the past! Make sure you read everything and understand your objective, because the games story and the fate of several characters is up to you to decide, from Harpers face to Admiral Briggs. Multiplayer is simply iconic, nothing replaces it, the multiplayer was hyped up heavily by content creators like the Vanoss Crew who made simple, but funny videos like hiding tactics or ninja defuses. The massive amount of scorestreaks and gun variety can easily help you make a build thats either dumb, or smart, you can even remove everything and just go in with a knife. Every map is amazing, from Carrier all the way to Raid, the enviroments are well done and fit the vibe each map went for. The teams easily look appropriate for a battlefield like FBI, Seals, SDC, Militia, or the Mercs, hell, using custom settings in private matches, you can have these four teams go up against each other in one map! A lot of variety, and hell, you might create your own gamemode with you friends! Zombies for BO2 was great, with a iconic team called the Victis Crew and a... ''great'' first map of TranZit, the zombies mode also introduces us to the characters that carry over to BO3 from Origins, that being the Primis, giving us personality and shading away from the WW2 faction characters. Pack-A-Punch names being clever like ''Reznov's Revenge'' (upgraded AK-47), or the ''Voice of Justice'' (Upgraded Executioner Pistol) In conclusion, BO2 leaves you amazed by a incredible story, a great multiplayer, and a nerve-causing zombies mode, don't leave a corner of this game unchecked either for a clever joke, weapon, or just a cool enviroment! 10/10.
