This game was once a massive hit, and it still actually is.
Call of Duty: Black Ops III was a game that had it's peak for a very long time until it got abandoned by its playerbase... If we are talking about the Multiplayer.
You had a very advanced arcade 'n shoot mechanic that worked flawlessly and was satisfying each time you used it to kill the opposite player, the graphics were really ahead of its time back in 2015, literally beating Battlefield 4 at that time and the overall gameplay was just a blast. A lot of clips were made and legends were born that year... until... everything just came to an end.
Now when you try to boot up the game on its own, trying to hope to get a match, you would literally risk yourself getting DDosed and even hacked on your System by another player and the only way you would be able to bypass this problem is through a tool called "T7", which did work but the hassle needing to get a specific software just to keep playing this game and STILL getting cheaters almost each round was basically just not worth it anymore.
So if you want to get this game to play the regular multiplayer, I would not only say that it's not worth it but also it's advised that you don't do that.
The devs and the publishers literally just abandoned this game like they would nowadays almost each year.
So why is it that I'm giving this game a thumbs up?
The answer is very simple, Zombies.
They have left us with a very huge gift that made this game still be an absolute hit, and that is Steam Workshop support! You read it right, this game literally has Workshop support that you can use to simply download any modded content and play it as much as you want and the best thing is that it can also work on Linux! (As a proud steam deck user myself, this is indeed a welcoming surprise)
From all the Zombies that I have experienced in the series, this by far is the best that you can still get, especially because of the workshop support. The gameplay is just smooth, the vanilla content for zombies is also massive, the graphics make things pop up even in today's standard and most importantly, the game is just very well optimized. As I mentioned above, you could literally play this game on the steam deck with around 50-60 FPS on intense waves if you wanted to. And with being able to do modded stuff, if you would be out on a trip for weeks your content could be enough for even MONTHS.
Is the campaign also worth it?
People also asked about the singleplayer and what I thought of it myself, and I must say, it wasn't as bad as people made it out to be. The story itself was actually good and you could have a good time through it, of course it was getting a bit confusing, especially on later scenarios, but if you would follow the plot, it can still be a pleasing trip. Compared to previous Black Ops titles though, this felt least fleshed out on the main character.
The main plot of the story however can still go deep and can come with it's own meaning towards the player, in fact when I played the series myself, I actually felt closest to this game's story telling than the others.
If you already got the game for the Zombies, I think you should also at least try out the campaign too.
