NOTE IF PLAYING ON LINUX - I had to switch to using my OS Disc drive - Using my other disc drive caused the game to crash. I spent hours trying to figure this out, this is the same as STALKER games issue. Basically the data installs to the main drive but the extras install to the proper drive and nothing matches.

Complete playthrough of both Allied and Soviet campaigns. A notable aspect in all respects over the original *C&C*, with more interesting an varied unit design, better balanced mission design and welcome tweaks to core gameplay mechanics such as engineers/capturing. The tank rush is still generally an unbeatable tactic, but we do at least see multiple variants there and defensive possibilities are somewhat more potent here. The series' trademark FMV briefing sequences become markedly more interesting - still plenty of hammy acting, but the characters are enjoyably portrayed and there's a bit more to them story-wise than just a briefing. Still an iconic soundtrack, of course.

Dad spotted this old game on Facebook and asked to try it out on my PC. I said yes — now he’s been playing for what, 4 hours?! Walls cracking open beers one by one. 10/10—from dad👍

This is the best RTS experience you can get - no, really. These games cleaned up when they were released, because they were balanced, immediate and simple. Over the 25 - 30 years that followed, thousands of people tried to better C&C - and they failed, getting a 'draw' at best - because, as RTS games become more complex, they become less manageable and less fun, especially in multiplayer, where feeling 'the glorious rush' is everything. Sadly, the RTS genre is somewhat redundant in the modern age - games like World of Tanks, DTOA and League of legends offer more depth and progression. But maybe, just maybe, an unforeseen innovation will start a new RTS revolution. But until then C&C will reign supreme.

A remaster that revitalizes a legendary strategy game, marking a significant milestone in the genre. The graphics and music have been enhanced, along with improvements to videos and gameplay, resulting in a product that is flawless at its core. I’m eagerly anticipating a remastered Collection 2 featuring Tiberian Sun and Red Alert 2! It’s genuinely a nostalgic return for us commanders.

Wow, what a great remaster! It's a total love letter to the old games, especially Red Alert. They really nailed the classic feel, and yep, the campaign is just as tough as I remember! It's the perfect trip down memory lane. It's so faithful that some of the old problems are still here, too. The Skirmish AI is still pretty clueless and won't always build boats or use its superweapons. But hey, good thing there's an AI Booster Mod out there to make things a real challenge! Even with the quirky AI, this is an awesome remaster. If you were a fan of the classic C&C games, you've gotta get this. I definitely recommend it!

So happy I got to relive some of my most fondest memories of the series. C&C was the first PC game I ever played and I highly recommend.

oldheads remember the original version ran on a freaking pentium 2 running windows 95 and we freaking loved every minute! The silly low res CGI is campy but the deep storyline, incredible actors, fun levels and wild unit variety carries. play long enough and you'll be saying "I got a present for ya!" "Shake it baby!" in your everyday tasks. I know starcraft 2 stole the spotlight but this game deserves love too. 9/10

Absolute classic, holds up really well. They did an incredible job redrawing the HD sprites while still retaining the personality of the original. Remastered all the music, full of extra goodies and dlc, all at an incredible price.

Grew up on this franchise, back to the OG C&C. Was definitely one of my favourite franchises and the first game I ever played online versus friends. Used to get our games disconnected cause someone picked up the phone. So I had to buy this. Honestly, doesn't hold up that well. But was worth it for a bit of nostalgia.

What more is there to say? This is a classic RTS. It pioneered the mechanics that have become standard in the genre. The world-building is top-notch and I find myself totally engrossed in the setting. The control interface makes it seem like you're controlling a simulation of an actual ongoing battle. The live-action cutscenes between missions further reinforce this aesthetic and lend so much charm to the game overall. The main-villain is so charismatic that you can't help for root for him (just a little). I'd strongly recommend. It may come across as a little clunky and dated at first. However, once you get over the initial learning curve, it feels like you're floating on air as you micro your forces and conquer the enemy (all to the beat of a STELLAR soundtrack). If this game is on sale, I'd strongly recommend giving it a try.

It's a definitive edition style remake of two of the earliest, most classic, and important RTSs ever made, now with tons of quality-of-life improvements and extras. Between this and the C&C Collection, it's pretty much every C&C game ever made. EA please remaster TibSun and RA2 as well.

Feeling that old nostalgia for the bygone days of RTS heaven? Then this is for you. However, whilst I recommend taking this trip down memory lane, the cracks do eventually appear. Same old imbalances with the sides and same old path-finding issues with the Harvesters. Nothing more frustrating than finding the harvesters wandering into enemy territory like it was a Mammoth tank, only it's not going to make its way back. Or to find the harvesters have got themselves into a traffic jam around an ore refinery, whilst another remains free to use. It's even worse with skirmishes against AI, as it doesn't matter what difficulty you choose, eventually they'll create their own bottleneck of Harvesters, shutting down their incoming resources. Which makes it easy to eventually overwhelm the hard AI on 8 player maps. Single player missions are fun. Out of the two games, I find the original C&C too slow when compared to Red Alert. The gameplay doesn't hold up when comparing the two. There are additional features that really should've been added, as they're pretty standard these days in RTS games. A little bit of QOL goes a long way: - Setting Way-points. - Units defaulting to "Guarding" their surroundings. Not just sitting there watching a teammates and buildings being destroyed. Personally I have had some issues with guard and force fire not always working, but that might just be me. All in all, fun for awhile, but the old annoyances can grate.

I love this game. For some reason I do not remember tesla tanks or coils being so overpowered against tanks, I remember it being mostly good for troops. I also do not remember being unable to set rendezvous point for barracks and war factory. I just made a map for this, check it out. Ore Galore - Battle for the Tree: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3497749628 Worth a buy, I like remastered. Even in 2025 it is fun to play :)

Classic origin of modern RTS games, both games, remastered with the old sounds and graphics in tact. Nothing more, nothing less. The most straightforward strategy game in existence; collect resources, build buildings, train units, attack the enemy.

This was my favorite game for years when I had it on PS2. It gives me so many fond memories of playing on PS2 against my brother via link cable. The original game can be downloaded for free if you Google it, but this remastered version is pretty nice and has a map creator which personally I always enjoy in games. My first skirmish was a trip down nostalgia lane as I crushed the Russians as I blasted Rammstein Sehnsucht album like I did as a young teen. I played as Ukraine and slapped Putin in the face with my mammoth! XD I got this on sale for like $5 which is a great deal, not sure if $20 is worth it so get it on sale. You can switch the graphics from remastered to original graphics at the press of a button which is cool. If you're looking for a more modern type of military strategy game, maybe this isn't for you, and you should maybe look at Company of Heroes 2 or something, but this (for me at least) is a blast. Tanya FTW!

The redesigned sidebar is garbage. It only makes sense for later games, with large number of buildings and units. It is annoying and distracting, with no added value. As is, it is impossible for me to enjoy the game.

Bought this remaster as I was a fan of Command and Conquer Red Alert 2 in my youth and was interested in playing what came before. This is a fantastic remaster, the music, graphics and the UI have been greatly improved but the AI and pathfinding of friendly units is just so bad. Look there is one enemy rocket launcher unit firing on my tank army of 12 units and they do nothing unless they are facing the right way or I make them fight back. And if you direct your units to go somewhere they more often than not go the wrong way round and go through the enemy base than the shorter way. I've had a great time almost pulling my hair out.

It would be a lot cooler if I could actually play the game and it didn't give me an error every time I try to open it now. Ridiculous. Even if I can play for 2 or 3 minutes it ends up giving me an error and shutting it down.

The campaign on hard depends 100% on luck and RNG instead of skill and it's insanely frustrating. Update: I have now completed all 81 missions on hard. It was SO BAD. Every mission was a WHAT WERE THEY THINKING moment. These are insane puzzles that require you to cheese and savescum like you have never cheesed and savescummed before. Awful AI and pathing, no build missions are pure torture because there's so much RNG and micro is almost impossible in this 1995 game. It was nonetheless pretty satisfying when you slowly figure out how to sandbag into the enemy's base and destroy them from within. Do not be ashamed of sandbagging, believe me the game deserves much worse abuse and I would cheese more if I could. Music is fine. I really like the atmosphere too. A side note is you should always play on fastest because normal speed causes the enemy air strike to be much less frequent and makes the game easier, or so I heard. When it comes to Red Alert, although a lot more people prefer this expansion, I find it much more boring than the base game. The puzzle element is no longer there. The pace is much faster. You can no longer chill behind the safety of sandbags, and now it's just tanks tanks tanks. The enemy can hoard army indefinitely and only attack with free spawns, and because of resource limit you can head into a dead end if you don't win fast enough. And again, tanks beat everything every game so it was just boring. The atmosphere is pretty boring too and I much prefer the original's sci and mystery element.

Still a great game even by modern standards. Shame what EA did to the franchise and Westwood studios but this has stood the test of time. Nice to see it given a facelift but otherwise it's still the same game with a bit of balancing done on the multiplayer side. This will always be a classic.
