This game is a mixed bag with both really good and bad parts.
The good:

The unique style of the game and the world building set up is pretty solid. You get the occasional glimpse into what life in the city of Glass is every now and then from NPCs. I just wish there was a bit more follow-through besides just a peek, but that's just the life of a runner I suppose.

The city is very well designed and I never really found myself getting bored with running around the rooftops. You can follow the red line to get where you're wanting to go, but if you look around, you will find some pretty unique ways to navigate the city. Would've also been cool if we could go street-level besides in a couple of places and story areas.

I absolutely LOVE the idea that getting into the flow state slowly gives you a "shield" which is just your in-universe ability to dodge bullets and attacks when they technically do hit you. I think that's such an underrated concept and think it should be a standard when dealing with parkour based games where NPCs will shoot at you.

Dogen is such an amazing character. His power and control as essentially a mob boss or yakuza boss is very apparent and he always shows he means business to everyone. They did a great job flushing out his character to show he's firm yet gentle and acts as a stand-in for Faith's mentor and a father figure. Despite his and her morals being at odds, he still pushes her to be the best she can be and guides her on her journey where he can. He's such a good character as a matter of fact, that the only time Faith had character developments, it was because he was present and pushed her to it. The most notable was when he challenged her about the artwork her mother made, giving her the ability to either choose to earn it, or to be a coward while subtly pushing her toward resolving herself to earn it because he knows it'd be best for her.

Just like the original, the music is really nice to listen to. Before I had Spotify and stuff, I would sometimes just sit with the game running, nothing but the music volume turned to 100 and enjoyed what it had. It gives that sort of low-intensity utopian sci-fi type feel that is really calming, and to me, helps get my gears turning in the head.

A minor detail that stood out to me... I love how if you fall off a building, depending on how high you are and the speed you were running, you will start to rotate as you lose control of yourself. You hear the wind start to pick up in your ears getting louder as you fall faster and faster, darkness encroaches on your sight and right before you hit the ground, everything goes white and all sound is cut to silence. Then... you hear a simple inhale and exhale before the game respawns you back before you died. It gives both a scary feeling of falling immediately by a calm feeling, giving you time to calm down and think before it puts you back into the world.

The bad:

EA owns the property and the Origin Launcher (and account) is required to play, just like all other EA projects.

The characters in this game are unbelievable as actual people outside of Dogen. I found that Plastic got on my nerves SO much. I understand she's supposed to be a bit anti-social and chronically online as a computer girl, but I genuinely found her incredibly irritating by being both socially dense and making "Well that just happened" level jokes every time she speaks. Icarus is just so arrogant for the entire game and then suddenly out of nowhere warms up to Faith. His reasons for being arrogant is explained as him and Faith being rivals.... but it's always demonstrated as a "tell don't show" and no real character analysis to why he feels that way, which makes it even worse when he just sort of flips. No really good reason is given for it. Faith is probably the biggest issue too. Throughout the game, it doesn't really *feel* like she changed much. The only times we got a good look into her situation and stances, as well as any developments was when Dogen was around. Other than that, she comes across as a spoiled, rebellious, and hard-headed person which made me generally not like her. So many issues are caused in the story by her either not listening to her handlers, or from her stubbornness, which wouldn't be a problem if she grew and learned from her mistakes; but even in the end, it seems like she didn't really learn anything other than she was always in the right by being stubborn, even if it detrimented people. The only time I genuinely liked her was when she pushed back against killing innocent people in the skyscraper by Dogen, and I think that was more of a Dogen test than anything.

Combat is extremely lackluster. You have a handful of moves, but really only like 3 are viable for taking down people. So you end up either spamming the same few moves over and over again until the enemy health bars reach 0, or you ignore them and run away. But there are quite a few times in the game where you are sort of forced to fight the enemies. Which... if it was only a couple of times it wouldn't be a problem, but it feels like you get locked into a combat segment SO often in the story that it's more annoying than anything. Not to mention, Mirror's Edge as a whole is supposed to be about parkour and only fighting when you need to. That's why the first game felt so good. You only really had to fight like twice in the original. For every encounter, you could just use your parkour skills to get away for the most part, and the game encouraged you to do so. This game forces you to constantly fight and with a subpar system.
Overall, I think the game is really good in some areas in design, map layout, and concepts, but falls flat when dealing with characters, game mechanics, and the story.

big greedy corpo had to add anti-cheat and a launcher to a single player game from 10 years ago.
Will never launch this online again.
If I'm going to play this I'll get the 'offline' version and play in peace.
Dont give EA money.

I am a sucker for story lines. The game is 9 years old now but runs fine. I only had a single bug which was graphical and had me jump through a block.
Finished the story in about 11 hours. I do say give it a try when it's on sale. It tickles a new part of my brain which I only felt during 2017s Prey walkthrough.
Map is a little small. If skilled enough you can go from one side to the other in about 8 minutes. But there is so many nooks and corners that even after the story I only walked 24% of the map.
Do genuinely urge you to at least try it. Its a change of pace. Literally

It is a really good game as is! I would say that I personally enjoyed this game more than the first one. The feel of Parkour in this game is amazing, especially with it making use of momentum. The soundtrack is also superb! Makes you feel pumped during action sequences and calm and serene during exploration. Although I'll have to give this game a negative review as even just playing offline mode single player now requires you to install and sign in on EA's client. I had to verify my P.C.'s ID through the damn EA launcher just to play the game. And some achievements are now permanently locked as they are dependent on the online features of the game which has since been shut down by EA. So if you are an achievement hunter, do not get this game.

I had so much good time with this game unlike Mirror's Edge from 2008 the movement feels much smoother and with It being the semiopen world It expands in many options when It comes to traversing areas, collectibles, minigames and the story despite that I didn't understand almost everything It made me drop a tear.
Only few complaints about this game was that It didn't feel so Frutiger like It did with 2008 game. It feels more minimalistic which is pretty hated Art Style these days and for some reason I wasn't able to pick up weapons. Let me shoot the bad guys while I parkour, DICE and/or EA!

I wish this game wasn't a "scared" reboot which ended up killing the series. By scared I mean that instead of making a direct sequel to the original they chose to just make a reboot for whatever reason and took away most of the things that made it stood out.
It removed a lot of things and also did that whole generic "we are the lowest class and we gotta destroy the elite!!!!" plot which is just soooooo boring and overused nowadays. It is also easily forgettable because instead of focusing on some main point you will just be doing brainless tasks for various different characters most of the time.
The environment can look pretty at times but a lot of it looks empty, bland and uninhabitable- also all of the reflections.. ugh. Most of it probably looks that way because the world is free roam to not ruin the running flow but eventually you will realize that you will be taking the same paths over and over and over again going from mission to mission so the game will feel much much shorter as your brain will drown out the repeating paths.
I miss the simple enemy variety and the possibility to disarm them and use their weapons against them if the area you were in wasn't in your favor regarding melee combat, this game forces you into doing melee combat and it sucks ass as later into the game you will eventually realize that springboard and heavy kick is literally all it takes to 1-shot everything and to easily defeat a Sentinel... you also gain "Focus" that way which magically protects you from ranged attacks.
In general, this game tries to do something but is either restrained by the already bad story or was afraid of losing potential buyers due to the large success of the first game by doing something extremely different, which is probably why Faith is still in the game instead of being replaced by someone else.

I love the game series of Mirror's Edge. As a whole I really liked the game but I want to point the bad sides of the game. First a lot of the stunts are unrealistic just the laws of physics won't allow them. The combat is clunky and very uncomfortable unless you are going at the opponents on speed. There was a device which made her like a spider-man which is not really parkour thing. The navigation was not the best I had to find alternative paths to finish delivery missions or dash challenges. The story was good but it was so short if it wasn't for the opened world, I think this would be a very short game. Let's not forget the obvious EA stopped the support for the game and I had to do additional stuff just to run the game and also a lot of the features weren't available anymore, because of this reason. Enough for the bad stuff, I really liked the gridlock challenges, they really challenged me like I was solving a puzzle and I love puzzles. It was pretty easy to upgrade her skills. which I count as a plus. As a whole they captured the essence of the first game and recreated it to big extend. The soundtrack was good in the style of the game but not too much like the first game. The ending of the game was pretty moving, I liked it.

Went into this thinking it was a sequel to the first one only to find out its a reboot. Ended up dropping it. This game felt good to play at first. Parkour felt a little bit easier than the first one, but the story is very lackluster compared to the first game. Combat was massively dumbed down only allowing Faith to punch and kick instead of disarming enemies for guns. Most stuff was locked in a skill tree for some reason which made the early portion of the game feel weird when the first one never had one. After running around the map progressing the story, the parkour starts to feel very repetitive due to the map being small. Overall, I'd give this game a 6/10. The graphics and music were pretty good.

I prefer the original. This one is not horrible but has several things I disliked.
1. Origin required
2. with 2x the resolution and everything ultra, I was getting really high fps. However, after repeating a fight scene twice the fps would drop to about 10. Towards the end game I changed the resolution scale to 1x and didn't have that issue, but before then I kept restarting the game which was extremely annoying.
3. I see no point to the collectibles and side missions.....so I didn't really do any more than what was needed.
4. There were quite a few times specially toward the end of the game where environmental bugs would be the reason I died.
5. The story was alright, but honestly could have been better.
Overall not a bad game, but if it was better optimized I would have recommended it.

Underrated AAA title. Yeah EA ruins everything or will find a way to, but after brushing that aside, it's still beautiful. The plot, writing, acting is superior to the first. Gameplay is still fun, has some frustrating clunks but maybe that's just a skill issue. Catalyst Faith is bae.

ME Catalyst is a pretty good game, it still looks great after 9 years (not as stylistic as the first tho), sounds good, and plays very well; but the story is a little lackluster with a lot of weird and shallow character writing and names of things that aren't really explained, it is not horrible, just underwhelming most of the time. achievements don't properly unlock for me in some cases and the removal of servers for an "always online" game just kinda dampens some of the experience, and of course EA's stupid launcher. Still tho, it's worth getting on sale because it is a mechanically fun game that looks and plays uniquely (and i'm holding out hope for a sequel dice pleasseeeee)

Just beat it for the second time and will probably 100% it in the next week or two. Absolutely insane visuals while running (get it) really really well, somehow we forgot how to make games that do both. Unfortunate that the servers for the online aspects of the game were shutdown some time ago, which for sure means we're probably never going to see another one of these games, but still playable in full offline. Huge recommendation alongside the first game of course.

One of my favorite games of all time. Story can be pretty mid compared to the first one but the gameplay and open world makes up for it. Could seriously just run around for hours just completing side quests and never get bored.

This game is absolutely amazing. The movement, the ambient, it all mixes together perfectly. Unlike its predessecor, Mirror's Edge, the game follows a more choose-your-own-adventure type gameplay style, where you can divert from the story and explore the city. Really fun stuff.

pretty good, i like the free roam, kinda wish i can turn off the po po tho so i can go sightseeing in peace
i maaaybe like the first game more for its linear story mode and consistent pacing of runs, fights, and puzzles
catalyst does less puzzles i feel and more of the running, which, is like okay if you like to go fayust
but like dude this game, yeah man, its like, bro, my guy, or gal idk, the places, the music, the a e s t h e t i q u e s, the lighting and all, the a r t e if you will, magnifique. i took a lotta screenshots in my play thru and i share them with strangers across the world - they say theyre pretty and i can agree
lastly, when you get to 'The View', thats- thats just breathtaking.

This is my personal favorite of the two games in the series. This one has nothing to do with the first one which is confusing if you play them in order, but the atmosphere and vibes in this one are so much better. The city feels alive, the enviroments are detailed, and the graphics are a huge step up. The storyline in this one is awful however. More just a series of random missions to run it seems. But the open world and vast city to explore makes up for that. The city in the first one just felt kind of dead at times, and not super futuristic or anything.
The only other issue is that you gotta go through EA launcher and all of that. Can make it a huge pain to get going. The first one simply booted from Steam which was nice.

Mirror's Edge Catalyst... after replaying this game on pc, I have now a different view.
Back in 2016 I was more disappointed because it was less fun than the title before. But now I totally like this game and I think that some changes they made, really were worth it.
If you want the best parkour experience, Catalyst is the best one you can pick. When you start to get a sense of the movement, you really feel how polished it is. Unlike the entry of this franchise, this is an open world game, so you have good space to master all moves and tricks which feels awesome. The combat is okay, but now they are more a support for the parkour rather than a extra challenge, if you know what I mean. The story levels are okay but definetily not that great like in the first game. Storywise... hmmm... some people say that the story is now better but I would disagree. Not that it's worse but it's neither an improvement.
Also for some reason beating the game 100% feels impossible. There is one collectibles that I could only get it via glitches... what the hell?!
So far if you want to give this game a try, one very important note: Change the red traces inside the settings into "classic", otherwise they feel very annoying.
TLDR: After replaying it I finally fell in love with Catalyst, a game with the most polished parkour system.

Movement still feels great and the Solar Fields soundtrack is close to the original, just not quite as memorable. The city still looks good even today, which surprised me. But the story didn’t grab me at all, and the open world kind of killed my motivation to keep going. Main missions are alright, but the side stuff and collectibles feel like busywork. I finished this on console years ago and always meant to replay it on PC for the visuals, but honestly, I got bored fast.

Feedback for Developers and Steam: Please Include FPS Limit Options in All Games
I’d like to highlight how important it is for all games on Steam to include a built-in FPS limit option. This should be considered a basic feature, because:
Many users rely on FPS limiting for technical reasons or to reduce power consumption.
Some hardware (like laptops or lower-end PCs) may overheat or behave unpredictably without the ability to cap frame rates.
V-Sync or other adaptive solutions are not always enough or suitable for every setup.
It would also be extremely helpful if Steam could introduce a filter in the store that allows users to sort or exclude games that don’t support an FPS limiter. This would prevent situations where someone buys a new game only to discover it doesn’t work well on their system due to this missing feature.
This would be a small change for most developers, but a huge improvement in accessibility and user experience.
Thanks for reading, and I hope both developers and the Steam team take this into consideration.

Forget guns. Forget explosions.
This is about fluidity, motion over mayhem.
Every rooftop is a puzzle. Every drop, every leap, every wall-run is a decision. And when you’re in rhythm, when the music rises and your feet barely touch the ground and the world melts away. You're not just playing. You're flying.
The City of Glass is immaculate and sterile. Cold beauty. A dystopia disguised as a utopia. It makes you feel small, but also reminds you: you’re the glitch in the system. The smudge on their mirror. The one spark they can’t quite extinguish.
A sleek, emotional ride through a glass prison. Not perfect, but when it moves, it sings. And if you’ve ever needed an escape, this game gives you wings made of asphalt, wind, and rebellion.

THE GRAPHICS ARE SUPER GOOD, THE STORY IS IMMACULATE, AND EVEN WHEN YOU BEAT THE GAME, YOU WON'T GET BOARD BECAUSE OF THE SIDE MISSION, AND DELIVERIES. SO, THAT'S WHY I THINK OTHER PEOPLE SHOULD PLAY IT TO, IF THEY LIKE PARKOUR GAMES.

For me, Catalyst is better than the first game when it comes to world design, movement, and flow 🎮🏃♀️. The parkour feels smoother, the open city gives you great freedom, and you really feel like you’re flying over rooftops. That said, combat in the original game was heavier and more impactful, and you felt more grounded. But gameplay here is lighter, smoother, and more fluid 🏙️⚡. If you enjoyed the first one, you should try this — just expect lighter combat but much wider exploration.
