The game’s art is soft and dreamy, with warm colors that make me want to curl up and watch the sunset on a cozy rooftop. The music is gentle and calming, like a soft purr that soothes your soul while you explore. Fixing up the vehicle, solving little puzzles, and pushing forward through the lonely landscapes feels like taking care of a shy neko who just needs a little love and attention. Rating: 🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾 — 5 paws of quiet love and adventure!

I'm going to be a dissenter and not recommend this game. It's pretty, it's fluid, it's easy, it controls well, it's cute and it's fun, but it's far too short and I never really felt challenged by it. The game play loop is so basic it couldn't keep me interested for the short play time, and there's never any danger or really anything to do at all except constantly fuel the ship, then jump out every ten minutes to hit the next button. It needed more, maybe a little story or a few uniquely creative sections.

Beautiful storytelling in its own way, though certainly melancholic and/or depressing at the same time. I feel any elaborating i do on that would just be a spoiler... but for something that took me 4 hours on the first playthough, it was a genuinely wonderful yet melancholic experience at the same time. I can't say i am an actual steampunk genre fan but this game was enjoyable all the way through... aside for the fact i kept getting stuck on its puzzles ofc lol I bought this on a complete whim cuz it was hardly 2 euro (probably 1,49 even cuz that's what the price is today lol) for me yesterday when i bought it and it was so worth it! Now, as for a bit more of a proper review that is not me just rambling about my own opinion all the way through: Difficulty? 3/10 ((which is not a bad thing) unless you're a dumbass (like me), in which case that can be as high as a 4/10 or 5/10... in certain areas of the game.) Gameplay? easy 9/10 (I love pressing red buttons to make my boat move forward (no joke)! Also, puzzles were fun) Graphics? 8.5/10 (I am playing on a potato but this game was made for being played on a potato (probably not literally speaking). Very epic game, not a single glitch or moment of lag) Sound? 7/10. (Very good but i feel the game was quiet at times, to the point where only my vessel was making any noise in my headphones. I wish the radio in the game worked for an entire playthrough but oh well) Story? Solid 9/10 (I played a game called 'Carrion' on steam a while ago which had the same level of obscure/ "doesn't tell you directly" storytelling. I feel this game perfected that method of storytelling because i could only imagine what happened to the world this game takes place in (sad face)) Controls? 10/10 (So smooth, so easy to move the little character that sometimes i can avoid having to use the elevator in the vehicle entirely and i can jump up an entire floor (very rarely tho ofc cuz it takes timing and skill) Overall score 9.5/10 (One of the best games i've ever played. I feel like the 10-20 (ish) testers on this game did such a marvelous job because i had no issues when playing through this. All this game is missing is more sound man... but that's a personal opinion and it was likely an intentional choice during development to add to the atmosphere the game presents, but i really would've liked atleast the option to make the game play more music. That would've made this a 10/10 imo) Sidenote: The achievement to complete the game in 99 minutes is surprisingly difficult. I managed to do a 2nd run in like 2 hours compared to my first 1 that took 4 hours. Most intriguing game! (also i love the achievement "it's over 9000" lmao

It's "fine" for what it is. I could see how if I spent full price ($15) I would've been disappointed with overall length, but for $1.50 I can't complain. Recommend if you can get it on sale, but not at full price. Tbf, I've become a bit of a stickler for pricing of games. It takes a lot to get me to spend $50 on a game I know I'd enjoy, let alone $60+ for some "AAA" title that's likely to be little more than a Corpo cash grab. That's not this game or company (that I'm aware of), but just a personal gripe / grudge I have from being ripped off far too many times.

Bought the game on sale and I enjoyed it. Would recommend if you are looking for a calm game to wind down to. Bonus points because it's playable on my old laptop too.

FAR: Lone Sails is a stunning, melancholic journey across a ruined world, where you maintain a rickety land-ship while unraveling subtle environmental storytelling. Its beautiful art, haunting soundtrack, and meditative gameplay create a short but deeply moving experience. A masterpiece of atmosphere and emotion—perfect for fans of Journey or Inside.

Nope... Not for me... No start, no ending, no motivation... It's too pretentious for my taste. Story needs more development, bigger machines, and so on. Great visuals and so on, but... no...

FAR: Lone Sails is a mesmerizing indie experience that stands out for its stunning art, atmospheric soundtrack, and emotional storytelling without a single word spoken. Cruising across hauntingly beautiful post-apocalyptic landscapes in your unique landship feels both exhilarating and utterly serene, thanks to the game's impeccable pacing and attention to detail. The journey is compact—just a few hours long—but leaves a lasting impact, offering moments of quiet reflection, gentle puzzle-solving, and bursts of high-stakes tension that create a deep personal connection to your vehicle and the world around you. The visuals and music are nothing short of breathtaking, often making you pause simply to take it all in. Far: Lone Sails doesn’t just deliver a game; it offers a poignant, unforgettable adventure that captures the heart and lingers in your memory long after it ends

Highly recommended for anyone who cherishes atmosphere, quiet storytelling, and meditative gameplay. FAR: Lone Sails isn’t just a game—it’s an emotional voyage across a desolate world. With no dialogue and minimal exposition, it manages to evoke a powerful sense of connection through its stunning visual design, evocative soundtrack, and the silent resilience of its protagonist. 🧭 Exploration Meets Elegance You pilot a hybrid land-ship, lovingly maintaining it as you roll across dried-out seabeds, abandoned outposts, and crumbling landscapes. The mechanics are simple but immersive: fuel your engine, repair what breaks, and adapt to whatever weather or terrain the road throws at you. 🎵 Soundtrack & Atmosphere The ambient score is nothing short of exceptional—minimalist yet moving. Paired with the game’s striking art style, it creates a cinematic experience that feels contemplative and uplifting. The quiet moments, often accompanied only by wind and machine hum, are deeply introspective. 💡 Why It Stands Out • No combat, yet it holds your attention with its emotional weight • A masterclass in environmental storytelling • Perfectly paced for a short, impactful gaming session • It turns solitude into serenity If you’re looking for a break from the noise—a game that prioritizes emotion over action—FAR: Lone Sails delivers a journey that stays with you long after the credits roll. An absolute gem in minimalist adventure gaming. 🌟

Coupled with its follow-up game, FAR: Changing Tides, I think this game (pair of games) is one of the most powerful and touching wordless narratives ever achieved by a video game. Everything about this game is beautiful - the artwork, the sound, the music, and a narrative that sneaks up and reveals its depth in the final moments of the game, delivering a gut punch of emotion all that beautiful art and music had been priming you for all along. Each game in the pair manages to do this on its own - and together. Incredible achievement. Some moments of serious wow factor in the visuals which I won't spoil here - you'll know them when you see/experience them. It just so happens to be fun to play, too! Some of the puzzles you run into are less intuitive than others. I found myself overthinking the more challenging ones. Gameplay pacing, balance, the progressive introduction of controls and mechanics - all of it is just a total delight. Truly in a league all their own, the FAR games, and their creators, Okomotive.

FAR: Lone Sails is a quiet masterpiece that proves a game doesn’t need loud action or complex mechanics to be powerful. Set in a beautifully desolate world, you travel across a dried-up ocean floor in a strange hybrid vehicle, solving small puzzles and keeping your machine moving forward. There are no enemies, no combat — just you, your machine, and the haunting silence of a world long gone. What makes this game so peaceful is its atmosphere. The minimalistic soundtrack gently rises and falls with your journey, and the world is filled with subtle visual storytelling. There's no dialogue, yet the emotions hit hard. It's reflective, calming, and surprisingly emotional. Even the gameplay, which involves maintaining your vehicle and navigating small environmental obstacles, feels meditative rather than stressful. FAR: Lone Sails is not about reaching a destination — it's about the journey, the stillness, and the moments in between. If you're looking for a peaceful, visually stunning experience to unwind and reflect, this game is a hidden gem.

This game tells a story, without using words, and does so in a beautiful way. I was somewhat confused in the beginning. Just keep moving and experimenting with everything you have available to you, it all quickly starts making sense There's so many things I want to spoil, just to tell someone about these neat points in the game. But I won't. You should go in blind I almost regret getting it at 90% discount, the game is worth more. Yes, it's short, I finished it in ca 3 hours, but this is quality over quantity Just buy it, you should have this experience in your life

Short and sweet! I played through it in one setting, sleep deprived trying to fix my sleeping schedule by staying awake LOL. The game kept me engaged through all that, so it speaks volumes about how well-made this is.

This game has a lot of character and is very good looking. I wasn't sure what to expect when playing this but I was happily surprised. FAR: Lone Sails is a cute little indie game with a cool soundtrack and nice visuals. I was left wanting more at the end of the game. It only took me about 3 hours to beat. I recommend this game but maybe not for full price.

I really enjoyed FAR: Lone Sails and would recommend it as a worthwhile experience. The puzzles are approachable and the atmosphere is calming. While to game isn't overly challenging, it provided just the right amount to keep my engaged and relaxed at the same time. The artistry is gorgeous and the music is beautiful. Well worth the investment, and I will play it through again, probably a few times.

There are very few things to say, other than it's a nice little game. Bought it for €1,49 (on sale) which was definitely worth it's price, albeit I don't think it's worth €14,99. Nevertheless, for I what payed for it it was definitely worth it. Would love to see it having more and deeper environmental story telling and last but not certainly least it's rather short. The puzzles are not difficult but it does require you to think more then what you're used to overall nowadays from games. For €1,49 certainly worth it if you want to have something to do for a few hours.

Far: Lone Sails is a simple game with steampunk aesthetics and solace vibes that takes from 2 to 3 hours to complete. Your objective? Make your "Okomotive" go forward. That's it. Traverse beautifully crafted dead scenarios, with small glimpses of life now and then. It's very immersive and fun while it lasted! Easy recommendation.

A pleasant little game. It's got some subtle enviromental storytelling, a nice atmosphere, accompanied with music that I wish lasted longer. I got it on sale for 2.50€ or so, which seemed reasonable, I'd say it may worth about 5€, but the full 14.99€ price is a bit steep. For a game that takes roughly 3 hours first run, where any subsequent run is only for achievements, isn't worth 14.99€. I encountered only one glitch through the entire game, and that wasn't game-breaking, so that seems pretty decent for an indie game. I recommend it on sale.

A rather short but beautifully made engaging game about operating a wundervehicle across a vast and desolate landscape. The game is very linear (literally you are always moving in the same direction) and features a number of environmental puzzles and very minor-to-non-existent resource management. Though there isn't a whole lot of game here and it probably won't make many people's top tier list it makes for a very memorable and endearing experience.

brilliant unique game, really loved playing this one & have bought the sequel far changing tides. i really appreciate the colours of the buttons so that they stand out & are easy to navigate, the colour & art in this game are beautiful. i difficulty was just right, i only had to look up a single incident because i wasn't sure if was doing it right & it was the one & only time the machine blew up & i think i died but i cant remember now. it is a relaxing game , just this one incident was a bit hectic. would love this game to have an endless mode, it really is one of the best games i have played in a long time.

I don’t even know what to say… the mystery in the story, and how this little guy controls such a huge machine just to find someone else in this dead world… the music is amazing, and the visuals are stunning. This game is a masterpiece. I feel bad for anyone who hasn’t discovered it yet.

It lets you to create its own story. Sure, some elements guide you but it is not that narrative. Devs did great job with its environmental story telling. And lastly, If you like chill games like; Gris, Inside, Ori, etc. You'll need to try this one for sure. It's short, atmospheric and includes great soundtrack. (9/10)

I appreciate the atmosphere and art direction but I found many points that were infuriatingly badly communicated. This wouldn't be a problem if everything didn't take so long. If a few animations were faster and the same content was around an hour long with the mechanics being a bit better explained I would have had a lovely time. Instead I spent an hour and a half extra dragging myself through a game I had stopped enjoying out of spite just to say I'd finished it. If you have the patience of a saint for 2-3 hours? You might enjoy this. You might then also find out that you'll have to play 2-3 more times to get all the achievements. Including speedrunning it.

An excellent artistic piece, but not really a game. It relies on environmental storytelling instead of having anything procedurally generated or having an overarching goal; the only reason to play is to see the plan the developers had set out for you. (The "other okomotive" was something I figured out shortly before it actually revealed itself, which also somewhat cheapened the reveal for me.) There is an achievement to finish the game in 99 minutes or less, and you can finish it in less than 3 hours without even trying, to put matters into perspective about just how short it actually is. If you were hoping for something like Oregon Trail or Death Road to Canada, you're in for disappointment. But if you temper all those expectations, you'll still find the experience eerily beautiful.
