Amazing game! Haven't 100% yet, but its such a good game. The visuals are stunning for a 2D platformer game. Also the lore is crazy. It left me wanting SteamWorld Dig 3 it was that good.

100% would recommend. Played for 7hrs (up to 5:18am) I beaten the 1st game on the Wii U, and MAN was that also a banger. Unlike 1, 2 is more linear but wayy more bigger and expansive than 3. Would've played when 2 originally came out but just didn't... Still playing the game, after 7hrs it hasn't disappointed! :D Anyway, I need sleep ASAP....

Incredible! Loved it. Got SW-Dig for free, loved it, enjoyed it so much, bought SW-Dig 2. Love this series so much. Gonna play Gilgamech next.

The first game was like one of those old flash browser games with a touch of aventure, if had some annoying little things This one, they improved in almost everything, corrected most things, but now it feels more like adventure with resource collecting mechanics, is not bad, it's just different, this one is a lot bigger, lot harder but overall I think it's a lot better Generally speaking, is still easy, not relaxing as the first one, you will find some very hard scret areas, the boses can be tricky, I would say annoying more than difficult, but compared to the first game, yeah, it's a big difficulty spike, lets say it transformed for a 3 to a 7 thinking about 1-10 The ending, I will not spoil, but, it was quite something, unexpected, the story could be better, but its a good plataform/metroidvania game, right now is on sale, it's really cheap, so it will give you at least a weekend of entertainment

Bigger and better than the first and a decently good game but nothing outstanding. I think they should have been more ambitious and creative with the second entry. For lack of a better term it's a cozy light metroidvania. Probably not going to be a favourite for most people but nothing you'd regret playing on an afternoon or three.

What a lovely little game this is. Steamworld Dig 2 seems to combine some of the core gameplay loops of both Metroidvanias AND Roguelikes, you explore biomes, but go back to the hub to sell your loot and upgrade your gear. There are fast travel points all across the map, frequent enough where its never to big a pain to get to one, but sparse enough where low health deep in a biome can cause some real panic. I loved the atmophere, the mechanics and the story, its a very well made experience. Do note that its not a long game, I finished it in just under 8 hours, having found a good majority (though not all) of the secrets and unlockables (80% of secrets according to the end screen). I do have a decent amount of experience with this genre of games though, so I could see people being able to spend a bit more time on this game :-) Al in all certainly a recommendation, the normal price of 20 euros is not overprices, though its also not super cheap, given that you can beat the game in under 10 hours, but for those who don't mind spending 20 euros, or those who see the game on sale (as I did) I would certainly recommend grabbing it and having a blast :-D

A game has about 10 minutes before I give up on it permanently. Wow it's already been 8 hours? Robo-Knight! with exploration, parkour, enemies, and smooth visuals that remind me of Ori. The only reason I considered buying this game is because when I searched it up on Google, it compared the game play style to Hollow Knight. Which I totally agree. The graphics are nice, the characters have personality, the missions make sense and form a plot line. My only few gripes was that the music was just the same few notes repeating. I can't be for sure if that was my game glitched or not, so I would take that with a grain of salt. The game play loop can be a bit repetitive, but the upgrades, missions, and mini cave challenges offer enough versatility for you to not notice you've been doing the same few motions for hours.

Incredibly charming game that simply improves and builds on the basic mechanics and lore from the first game. Very fun, worth a few dollars for sure.

An even better sequel to Steam World Dig, They actually focused on combat in this one while maintaining every aspect of the original. Trashium was the only thing that was repeated.

One of those really rare gems that is just appealing to basically everyone with a gameplay loop you'll just get addicted to. It's also really helpful that the game is relatively "short" while not being low on content so you'll not get bored at all and the world, characters and enemies are very charming to boot. If you haven't played this yet, there is basically no excuse.

I've played through SteamWorld Dig 1 & 2 twice. Don't mind my play time on record. Once was on a different console, and another playthrough was on steamdeck away from wifi. SWD2 offers some new gameplay mechanics and continues to expand on the unique charm of the world. Both are insanely fun and well designed as far as single player experiences go.

At the sale price of the game, it's a steal. While my playtime on here is quite low, I'm pretty sure I played, and beat it on another platform. I also played through the entirety of the first game. This one is a lot more of the same. Think, a very VERY light mix of Terraria or Minecraft, with a large smattering of Metroidvania game play style. The upgrades are rewarding, the game play is fast paced, increasing in agility and speed as you unlock more upgrades and traversal options. I highly recommend Steamworld Dig 2.

It's a fun and relaxing little game that absolutely tests your reflexes and dexterity. And if you like puzzle platformers, you'll probably like this one, too. Lots of little hidden areas and secret rewards, too.

Wonderful sequel to a superb original. Irons out a couple of the original's backtracking issues, throws in many new add-ons and mechanics, many new enemies and a bunch more ideas. Love these games, just a joy to play and genuine sadness when I'd finished them.

Steamworld Dig 2 does everything a sequel should do. Expands on the world, story, characters, and mechanics of the previous packed with a slight graphical upgrade. I do recommend playing the first game...first. Then, this is more of the same. So, if you enjoyed the first, you'll enjoy this. If you didn't, I don't even know why you're here. Solid little game.

Very similar to the first, just a more expanded sequel with more metroidvania elements. If you liked the first you will like this. Doesn't really push the boat out much but still fun gameplay loop like the first, digging down, getting gemstones to buy upgrades to dig even deeper etc.

Steamworld dig 2 is an amazing sequel to the first SWD game. Offering improved graphics, yet similar to SW Heist. I won't spoil too much, BUT i will say that its awesome. 10/10. PS: I recommend playing this BEFORE SW Heist. Fun Fact: Did you know that Steamworld Dig 1+2 got released on the Nintendo 3ds? It honestly surprised me.
🎮 Complete Review: SteamWorld Dig 2

Developer: Image & Form Games Platforms: PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PS Vita, Xbox One, Google Stadia Genre: Metroidvania / Action / Platformer Release: 2017 ✅ Review Summary SteamWorld Dig 2 is a brilliant sequel that improves upon every aspect of the original game. It masterfully blends exploration, progression, and combat in a vibrant underground world full of secrets. Image & Form has refined its formula and delivered a metroidvania experience that stands out, even among the genre’s heavyweights. 🔍 Story and Setting The story follows Dorothy, a robot miner searching for her missing friend Rusty, the protagonist of the first game. As she delves into the depths of a new underground world, she uncovers mysteries, robotic cults, and ancient secrets that keep the narrative subtle yet engaging. While simple, the story is well-structured, with charming characters, witty dialogue, and a growing sense of mystery. The steampunk-meets-Old-West aesthetic is back, enriched with mythological touches and a ton of personality. 🧭 Gameplay and Level Design This is where the game truly shines. SteamWorld Dig 2 follows the metroidvania style, with an interconnected map, unlockable abilities, and clever backtracking. The design is outstanding: Exploration is rewarding but never overwhelming. Each new ability (like the hookshot or dash) drastically changes how you navigate the environment. The digging mechanic — a carryover from the first game — is now smoother and more strategic. The gameplay loop is addictive: dig, collect resources, return to town to sell and upgrade your gear, and dig even deeper. The pacing is excellent, with constant upgrades that keep the player engaged. The difficulty curve is accessible but offers enough challenge for seasoned players. ⚙️ Progression and Customization A major highlight is the upgrade and Cog system. Players can customize their abilities using Cogs that modify tools and powers. This allows for gameplay tailored to your preferences — whether you favor combat, mobility, or mining. This system adds strategic depth and encourages experimentation. The balance between effort and reward is spot-on — gathering gems to invest in upgrades feels meaningful and satisfying. 🎨 Visuals and Art Direction The hand-drawn 2D visuals are top-notch. Environments are rich in detail and full of personality, with smooth animations and beautiful lighting that enhances the subterranean atmosphere. The art direction has a unique identity — mixing charismatic robots, mysterious locations, and diverse biomes, all brought to life with vibrant color palettes and subtle visual effects. 🎵 Soundtrack and Audio The soundtrack is atmospheric and perfectly integrated. It adapts to the pace of the game, shifting between mysterious tones and more upbeat themes as you progress. Sound effects are rich and immersive — the crunch of digging, explosions, and the echoing tunnels enhance the experience. While there’s no full voice acting, the character sounds are expressive enough to convey their charm. 💡 Highlights and Innovations ✅ Smooth progression with constant rewards ✅ Dynamic and satisfying exploration ✅ Deep and customizable upgrade system ✅ Distinct visual style and atmosphere ✅ Exemplary pacing and structure for a metroidvania ✅ Well-balanced mix of combat, platforming, and exploration ❗ Minor Weak Points (without hurting the overall experience) The story, while functional, may feel too simple for those craving deeper narrative depth. Some combat encounters become slightly repetitive toward the end. Lacks a "New Game+" or more extensive post-game content. 🏁 Conclusion: Is It Worth It? SteamWorld Dig 2 is a metroidvania gem. It takes the best elements of exploration, progression, and interconnected world design and executes them flawlessly. It’s a sequel that honors its predecessor but shines in its own right, polished to near perfection. Recommended for metroidvania fans, lovers of mining and exploration games, or anyone looking for a tightly designed, addictive adventure bursting with personality. ⭐ Final Score: 9.5 / 10 A captivating, polished, and memorable experience. One of the best metroidvanias of the past decade.
