Mafia
It’s 1930. After an inadvertent brush with the mafia, cabdriver Tommy Angelo is reluctantly thrust into the world of organized crime. Initially, he is uneasy about falling in with the Salieri family, but soon the rewards become too big to ignore. As he rises through the ranks, the paydays keep getting bigger, but the jobs get even dirtier. Tommy may ultimately earn the respect of the Salieris, but becoming a Made Man will leave him more conflicted than ever with the new life he has chosen.

Had to change my review due to recent EULA changes that are basically spyware. Just get a "different copy" of it until they change it.

Even though playing this game was such a nice nostalgic journey, I must admit I spent a lot of time in the missions just driving from one destination to another (often with the speed limiter).

I think the remake doesn't do this game justice. Sure graphics are better but this one feels more authentic and the voices for the characters are better. I will say I did loose some sanity playing this game for the first time because of its clunkyness. Racing level still sucks and doubt it will ever be enjoyable.

Mafia stands out as one of the most immersive and cinematic crime games of its era, weaving a gripping narrative with a meticulous recreation of 1930s Americana. Unlike many open-world games that flood you with distractions, Mafia delivers a focused, story-driven experience that feels more like playing through a classic gangster film than a typical video game. The game’s strongest asset is its storytelling. You step into the shoes of Tommy Angelo, a humble taxi driver turned reluctant mobster, and the game carefully unravels his descent into the violent world of organized crime. The characters are compelling and flawed, the dialogue sharp and authentic, and the plot full of twists that keep you hooked until the final mission. Visually, for its time, Mafia was a technical marvel. The city of Lost Heaven is richly detailed, from smoky jazz clubs to rain-slicked streets. The attention to period detail is evident in the cars, clothing, and architecture, making the world feel lived-in and believable. Gameplay-wise, Mafia balances action, driving, and stealth with a slower pace that encourages tactical thinking rather than brute force. Gunfights are tense, car chases thrilling, and the controls, while a bit dated today, never detract from the experience. If there’s a downside, it might be the linear mission structure and occasional load times, but these are minor quibbles compared to the overall quality and emotional weight of the game. Bottom line: Mafia isn’t just a game about crime — it’s a masterclass in storytelling and atmosphere that still holds up nearly two decades later. For fans of narrative-driven games or classic gangster tales, it’s an absolute must-play. Rating: 8/10

I don't know how my ancestors played this... oh well, it did age well. On the very final mission, the game strips you of all your weapons. Make sure you go out into the city and to the weapons guy and restock all of your weapons. I regret going in there with the pistol.

It's an amazing game, great story and gameplay also will run on almost anything. It goes on sale a lot so watch out for those. Also it says "Refunded" because I bought right before a sale, so I refunded it then bought on sale for $5. One thing about this game is that it's HARD. Like it will most likely take 40+ hours to beat. I will edit when I finish the game. If I haven't edited then I never beat it :(
