Excavator Simulator VR

This would be really amazing if you could use the physical thumbsticks on the controllers instead of the virtual ones. I get it, VR is cool, but the immersion is broken by my cab constantly swinging side to side because I'm not perfectly in the center of the rotation axis. Devs, I'm super duper in love with heavy machinery and would really love if you could add functionality to be able to use the thumbsticks on a Rift controller instead of this janky VR joystick business. Please update!

Although my expectations for this game were not high at all, I am still very disappointed, i was looking forward to driving an excavator in virtual reality with motion controls, that there wouldn't be much to do in the game was not a problem for me in this concept but VR gamers, that there I didn't expect so little to do. The trailer and photos on the store page show you working and fluid controls as well as different work locations (on the water, not on the water) But in the game I could only do the tutorial, a tutorial where I couldn't do anything in a correct way either, sometimes it seemed like the ground I was scooping up was a heavier weight than the machine I was trying to drive. 0.1 hours = literally the whole game. I'm not sure why this has been released yet, I will change my review if the game adapts. Sound = There is none. 3 tutorial missions only. That is the extent of the game right now. Its great fun, good physics and is challenging HOWEVER, I completed all tutorials expecting to then unlock some digging challenges. No building site scenarios, no 'fill that truck up with soil' or 'dig foundations there for a house'. Just TUTORIALS unfortunately!

I only recommend it for the controls because that is all there is. NO SOUND, NO STORY/MISSION. Game is unfinished but hopefully sound and missions will be added.

pretty bad.... no sound, controls are very slow, gets stuck on tiny piles of dirt, the second my bucket hits the ground it glitches out and the hoe wants to flip over , lags like crazy too, i can think of a million other things i could have spent my 5 bucks on besides this lol. i run a real excavator all summer anyways haha

Honestly this game is so unreal breathtaking, Everyday i work 12 hours on a busy jobsite working in these same condition in the blazing heat and for me to come home and come to my fully immersed gaming setup with bluteooth pocket pussy and fully immersed cockpit this game is unreal and the aero dynamics on the cockpit in the game to translate onto my 3 samsung qled tvs (which are 12 grand each) its unreal and ONLY FORE $6.50 from my home country of papa neu Guinea sincerley lover this game bruz

Excellent 360 sim. Being in construction but not a machine op I do have a little experience with 360 machines. I found the controls realistic, responsive but not to stiff, about the right amount of play in the slew for a big machine. Definitely Recommend. Excellent value for money! Devs: Things I'd like to see fixed or updated in this version Sound, I got nothing, maybe that was my setup? The Controls are lagging so it is hard to run the machine. The game is too short you can complete it in ten minutes. This game may be worth purchasing in the future after the updates they are planning. Also the movements can upset your stomach if you don't have a lot of VR hours like myself.

Don't buy this. Only control that does anything on a valve index is the reset head button. Project appears to be abandoned by the developer.

‘Excavator Simulator VR’ is pretty much what its title suggests. It is a JCB digger, or excavator simulation in which you get to perform 3 tasks. You get to drive about, learn how the arms work and then finally dig a small trench to prove your learned skills. While there is no game as such here I still managed to have a little bit of fun driving the digger about and digging holes all over the place. While I didn’t find the text-based tutorial much help at all I still managed to learn most of it simply by messing around. I got this in a sale for just £3.59 and for that I did have some fun given that I have always wanted to drive a digger. But it has to be said there is very little in the way of training material here.

Planning to hire a micro digger to dig up my own garden so figured this would be a good starting point to learn basic controls. I think it does the job OK. Lack of ability to use physical joysticks lets it down, you need to be able to feel when they're centred. Also I'm not bothered by the lack of levels as a lot of reviewers are - this is literally a sandbox, don't expect too much for £3.99. I should also mention the developer appears to have completely abandoned the game as of 2021 so don't expect any updates.

I actually used this as a training tool.. I am renting a mini ex. for the weekend and wanted to gain some seat time prior. This was better than nothing, however this is getting a thumbs down for some misleading info on the store page. 1. There is no dedicated "sandbox mode". The only way to actually dig freely is through the "Dig Tutorial" 2. The store page states "operate a giant 90 tonne excavator in either ISO or SAE control patterns" however there is no option to change, you are stuck in SAE. 3. There is no sounds. 4. There should be an option to use the thumbsticks rather than grab the grips, the grips are a bit wonky because there is no return to home to stop unwanted movement. Overall for $5.00 it served its purpose, I am fluent enough with the controls to confidently operate my machine this weekend. However I would not recommend to anyone buying this expecting to have any amount of fun or entertainment.

Are you planning on updating or expanding the game. I work in an open pit sand mine. I would be grateful if you could add hual trucks to the sim and have them to drive off screen and dump their load when full. It would simulate the real world more closely.

If you enjoy heavy equipment, you will enjoy this! Its in EARLY EARLY beta that does not even have sound, but the feel of how it handles so far is the best part about this. I hope the dev keeps going and keeps working on this, I would support and purchase anything he does. This is what VR is really about. doing things you enjoy. Please keep up the awesome work! Multiplayer and team work zones would be amazing. If I could make games I would love to help keep this project going! I enjoy this!

in my opinion, its an good game, still needs sound, the controls are a bit iffy but only because there is a limited dead zone, it just take a little bit to get used too. 1. needs sound 2. ability to customise the excavators control dead zone, so that the excavator arm isn't always moving. (after playing for a bit it does get easier to get the controls back to a neutral no movement zone) 3. more levels. this game has great potential, keep up the great work.

In my Option, fantastic start to a potentially great game/sim. Obviously needs some improvement but that will come over time. Thanks for this game, I find it quite relaxing just digging up stuff.. keep up the great job.

this has a good foundation the controls are good and the feel is decent, Like I'm actually at work digging ditches on the pipeline. But one thing that drastically needs improved is the machine movements and weight the excavator should be heavy not bounce all over when you dig to deep or grab to much dirt.. If anything it should just slide the excavator forward a little, but it needs to be much much heavier. The controls do feel really, really good though, and I've been a heavy equipment operator for the last 16 years haha. Just fix the machine weight and how it drives over stuff, it really shouldn't get stuck on anything just make it climb up and over everything and if it gets to steep the machine should just tip over like IRL. That way the operator gets used to how to position the boom and bucket behind themselves as to not tip over going up a steep hill. but its a good start to what could be a super fun game that you could just keep adding content to for years <3 :) I cant wait to see what they do next with this game. :)

Love the concept and excited how you'll expand the game, I have a Quest 2 and i'm unable to start the game, I'm in the seat with the chair adjustment screen but it wont go beyond that, nothing clickable. cheers. * my bad, I see if the rift that's compatible*

If you actually take a look about the developer you can see he did this game as Computer Science Senior Design project in 11 weeks. You can even view the project on Github https://github.com/MrJohnWeez/VR-Excavator-Simulator I still decided to buy this and play around. Besides the missing sounds, only annoyances I found were too sensitive controls when first grabbing the joysticks ingame, whole excavator started to wander around. This is also caused by missing physical response since you are just gripping your VR controllers. And when digging too big of chunk (which happens a lot because previously stated issue) the excavator starts bouncing(flying xD) around.

There is a few physics issues. Nothing that really stopped me from having some fun! Definitely looking forward to the updates and improvements. If you do like diggers, you will get a DIG out of this ;)

I can not recommend this game, there is no sound, you get stuck in the ground easily, there is only about 10 minutes of gameplay, the digging is not very optimized, also dirt randomly falls out the side of my bucket when swinging the excavator, the one good thing I have to say about it right now, is the joystick feel pretty good! I will test this game after every update and update this review if the game improves. Update, the cpu usage seems to have been fixed, I uninstalled and reinstalled the game and that fixed it! Still at this point will not recommend as there is only a few minutes of gameplay, and there is still no sound

Game hasnt gotten any updates for almost a year. Not worth the money for what it is right now, and game seesm abandoned by dev.

there is nothing to do in the game, there is a tutorial and then thats it, just roaming around with no goals whatsoever

A fun little game that explains how to operate an excavator. My only complaint is that there isn't sound.

As a operator myself (pipleline, Cat 349) I bought this out of pure curiosity never seeing anything like it. I was not disappointed. Especially at the price. Understanding that the game is very much so in development is key. But the shear possibilities are endless. The controls are true to pattern, Sandbox digging. I enjoy it My thoughts on what could be fixed or changed: 1. collision with bucket and material, its very goofy sometimes. material bugging out of the bucket or just sliding out as if there is no weight or texture to it. As well as the bucket reacting with the ground. The response time needs to be quicker when it comes to the material changing. That causes the bucket to grab the ground and send you for a ride (Not fun in VR) -the ground reaction comes into play when digging like an operator not just putting the bucket to the ground and curling 2. speed of machine: The machines looks to be about a 100,000lbs-140,000lbs machine but its stick and boom speed act more like a 200,000lbs machine even if this was adjustable that'd be great. 3. Menu freezing. Sometimes the menu works sometimes it doesn't 4. My biggest Issue: The tracks. This has to be fixed ASAP. You get stuck on everything and anything. The track speed is to fast for that big of a machine and the tracks shouldn't feel like your on ice. -and please add the ability to use the joysticks or something to track instead of having to reach for the sticks. We never actually use the sticks we always use the foot pedals.

unable to play as game starts with the adjust seat position and head centre, however no amount of button pushing A or any button can i leave the seat adjustment menu. only thing that works is button B centre view
