Dev says: in 12 months plan to add various perk books, maps, sounds etc. Reality: literally '0' updates in the last month, no test version either.

I can see the potential in this game, it could be a really amazing game. But right now, i would recommend to stay away from it, atleast until the Dev put more updates into the game. I would give this game another try in the future, but right now the game is too slow even for me, a long time idler game lover.

I would have recommended this game for the following reasons: 1. It is a pretty fun game, lots of meta progression by unlocking things in the shop that stay with you throughout your future maps. 2. It's an incremental and yes it can be a bit slow at times but its still fun and makes you think in advance what units you will have to prepare each map to make sure you have the strength to beat the end towers of each map. Here is the problem tho: I beat all the maps available, collected all the pearls and nothing happens... the world map still shows 3 empty spaces and nothing else to do... no ending... no nothing! So if you want to just mess around with an incremental that you can basically beat with no ending in a week or so then this is the game for you.... but the devs have obviously stopped working on it because it even give you a message at one point once you unlock the first pearls saying that there is nothing left to do in the game.... so for this reason I cannot recommend anyone buying an unfinished product.

Has good promise, but it has been out for 8 months, and has not had any patches for 7 months now. Seems like abandonware at this point. Is it worth the money even still knowing this? Ehh. The game has good systems but there's just not enough meat on the bones for me for £5, when there's better idler games out there for free. If/when the game gets more content to justify its early access and cost, I'll edit the review accordingly.

The idea an mood of the game seams nice enough, but (speaking as one of the very first beta testeres) the game has currently has some major flaws. - The game progression is to slow. Most of the time is spent waiting for resources to collect with nothing to do. - It seams there is bug not allowing my to build the second resource cap upgrade as the cost is greater than than the maximum resource cap

Less builder, more timer watching game. Also, adding sound effects and little stuff like that would be a big plus. The art is cute, but gameplay is pretty boring.

A great passive game. If you ever played an online slow build game and wanted no microtransactions, this game is for you. You can just have it on the spare monitor while you work. I'm looking forward to updates and additions as this game continues to be worked on.

Nice concept but the game plays very slow and is limited in that you are stuck until you defeat a square so you can build another building. The gameplay is basically that over and over until you beat an area then you just do it over again on the next platform. I got an achievement for beating an area in less than 4 hours. You heard that right, it's an achievement to beat something in 4 hours. With such little gameplay, each area should take 20 minutes, and yet it easily takes multiple hours to do nothing but wait for resources to build up. Also, to my knowledge, it doesn't count up when you're not in the game, so you can't get the benefit from typical idle clicker games. 3.4/10.

Ui scales nicely gameplay is there and smoothe, story seems interesting, however with the lack of sound its much harder for me as a visually impaired user. would love some menu feedback for buttons. Overall I recommend this game, it just isn't for me personally.

A well done game. Upgrades take 1-5 minutes as long as you keep things like the lumber mill upgraded as much as possible. The storage capacity is also important to keep upgraded, both with more warehouses, and the upgrades you can find inside them. Items seem lackluster but they work on a rarity system. Common items are nearly useless, BUT legendary items are very powerful, and they scale satisfyingly for everything in between. It seems well coded. I haven't run into any bugs. Very fun game to play, and most of the negative reviews seem to have just missed mechanics.

Wow! What a game. I never expected Feartress to be such a fun play! The only thing holding this game back is the lack of sound. Other then that it is undoubtably the most fun idle clicker I have ever played. I would recommend this game to anyone who enjoys the genre! I also made a quick tutorial for new players to the game, going over 10 tips to help you succeed! I hope you can check out the video, but as for the game I really think you will enjoy it! https://youtu.be/gcE8PCdTnOo

New updated review: Hey look an update finally, keep them coming. Updated Review: Seems like the developer didn't find the initial success they were hoping for on release and this EA title is dead in the water aside from a bug fix here and there. I loved the look of it but if it's not actually going to get developed further I have to change this to a thumbs down. Prior Review: A very interesting take on an idler and a town builder. It's brand new and will have improvements made but even in the current state (no SFX and still being fine tuned) I am having a good time. Great price point!

After finishing the first map. Seems pretty fun so far. Balancing is still out in the open, but makes a solid impression so far. Blood production seems fairly slow currently and there is no offline progression, however I'm sure there's more to come and I'm sure I'm merely scratching the surface so far.

Really fun and gives so much freedom to do whatever strategy you want to do to win. I also think the time trial mode is very fun, it starts very RNG based, but the randomness makes me try different strategies I did not previously think of..... There's still a lot of content left, but so far, worth it!!

Fun ideas and good gameplay, if you like incremental/idle games you'll have a few days worth of playing here in current state. I feel it's one more prestige system away from being one of my favourites.

This game has potential, but steer clear for now. Lots of frustrating game launch related issues, as well as issues with save file synchronization (and losing your saves) have made this game unplayable for me. There's currently no way of manually importing saves right now, and that coupled with a slow gameplay loop leave this game unplayable for me. I'm simply not interested in re-investing hours and hours of time that could be wiped away in an instant because the save system doesn't work.

This is a case of wishing for a neutral button. The game isn't bad but it gets very repetitive. Normally in incremental games you have to change your strategy or interact with the game mechanics in order to progress, but not this game. You always do the same boring strategy over and over again. The early stages of a new world are super slow and its only when you clear about half the map that the game becomes a bit more interesting. Also the random events are kind of shit, most of the time giving you negative effects so try to replace them with the rain of blood ASAP.

A game with really huge potential. This was my original msg but after 6 months not a single update. A couple updates from 4 months ago with stuff like "added button to skip tutorial" and thats it. Game has potential but rn it just has the core mechanics and its missing 95% of the game. The fact that people pay for an early access and devs dont update the game or AT LEAST update us how the development is going is just shameful. I know 7 years old incrementals that update way more often, like at least tell us something "working on adding more content, will be done in 1-2 months"

Easily one of the best Incrementals since cookie clicker. Definitely worth the purchase! Graphics are great, progression is great, minmaxing is great!

Good game so far, Good combat, never to long between upgrades or getting something new. Plus interesting take on a prestige mechanic in keeping the gear. Dev is talkative in discord when i get stuck which is a plus too.

I like the general idea, and the presentation isn't bad at all. But the actual gameplay loop is the worst kind of incremental/idle: babysitting. The game effectively plays as "buy something. Figure out the next thing you want to buy. Come back in 3 minutes." And it's uniformly that way- the game is balanced in such a way with resource caps that you can't get ahead by idling too long, but also can't ramp production meaningfully. The game isn't even BAD exactly- but I'd probably recommend cookie clicker before it.

I played the browser version of this game quite extensively and it was a great game to have as a semi idle game in the background while doing something else. This game is definitely in early access at the moment and needs some more work to flush things out (like sound effects). Regardless it's pretty fun and has unique gameplay compared to a lot of other idle/incremental games. I look forward to progressing through all the new content.

The progress feels too slow overall, it only feels better in time trial at 5x speed. Also there is a loophole that causes huge inflation that would create NaNs.

Core feedback loop is entertaining. The game makes you think, but not too hard.

Cleared the first level. Very fun so far and runs well with no bugs found (yet).

This is an idle game that doesn't need to be. Getting resources together and building upgrading literally takes upwards of 10-20 minutes for each thing. If build times were cut down like, 75%, it might be a bit more fun. Reclaiming land block by block is pretty fun, but I don't want to have to boot up a movie or another game just to have something to do while I'm playing this game.

I can attack on the first try when the guide shows how to attack. But on my second attempt, the attack icon can't be clicked. Is there something wrong? I don't know how to review this because it might be a glitch or a bug, but the UI is great. Hope this will be address, I will be asking for a refund and won't recommend the game. For now, I'll say no until this is fixed, or someone shows me how it's done. edited: should restart the game and you can attack again. Nice game. recommended. edited for the 2nd time: just closed the game a while ago and turned the PC off. But now, the there's no game window showing up after opening the game. Until this is fix, I'm gonna put a thumbs-down for now.

An idle game with extremely long timers and no offline mode. Regrettable purchase.

The game itself is really entertaining and a good concept to try and make city builder into a rougelite/idler hybrid with a lot of promise but ultimately is too slow to be something you would be actively engaging with but requiring just enough upkeep that if you walked away for more than 5 minutes it'll feel like you are wasting time instead of making progress in the game. Couple that with no obvious boost after the first level beyond the shop with ever increasing prices and the game doing basically nothing without player interaction the game feels like its stuck in a spot that will be difficult to fix without completely redoing the entire premise to push it just over the edge into a truly great game. Its not an expensive game so if even after that you are still considering buying it go for it but ill have to pass on recommending to friends.

I want so badly to like this game--it's a great concept and the artwork is charming. There's a lot of potential here. But the combination of buggy gameplay (for example, unlocking the alchemy book but no poison units), sluggish pace, slow rate of autosave, punishing RNG and complete absence of offline gains adds up to a bad time. I'm open to revisiting this later in the beta but for now, skip.
