The 5th game in the Lost Lands series. You don't have to play them in order. Sometimes they'll reference something that happened before, but if it's important they explain it, so it doesn't matter if you played that game or not. The games all feature the protagonist Susan; in the first game her son is kidnapped and taken through a portal to the Lost Lands, and Susan pursues him for rescue, defeating a big evil in the process. In future games, Susan gets sucked back into the Lost Lands because they need her help. She never complains about this either, she just gets to work helping them deal with the crisis.
In this game, Susan gets transported to the Lost Lands (in her pajamas, poor dear!) to help defeat this frost monster thing. I enjoyed all the puzzles except one, involving centipedes. I finally figured it out and beat it, so I could get the achievement, but I will always skip it in the future, lol. Other than that, I liked everything about this game.

Excellent game. It follows the usual format for a HOG. It has a fast-travel map. The hidden object scenes are all the more interactive kind, rather than just a list of items to find. (I like both kinds of hidden object scenes.) The mini puzzles are good. The story and animation is very good for the genre. There is quite a bit of back and forth, but not too much. (I think the previous game in the series had a little bit too much, although it was still a very good game.) I personally don't like it when it's too linear. This was definitely not too linear for my tastes.

a fun game with beautiful art. i like that it allows you to pick your difficulty. i find the casual mode challenging but not impossible. you can fail as many times as you need and are not punished. i haven't played harder modes and probably won't. but it is nice to know that serious puzzle crackers can get a difficult experience too. i really like the music and the voice acting is good too. an immersive and calming experience that i like very much.

Great game with a great story! Very easy to learn game controls. Had lots of fun discovering the hidden objects. Can de difficult at times to solve puzzles but they have allowed for assists should you decide to use them. Worked fine on a Mac Pro running 10.12.6 with AMD Radeon RX460 4GB video card.

The Lost Land series of games are fun to play, however, I find that they can only be played once. If I try to play a game over again, it does not let me collect the collectables/morphing objects again.
This makes the game redundant as it's a big part of the experience.
Does anyone know how to re-set or use a different player name??? Steam is unable to provide support/advise on this.
Thx

This is a continuation in the Lost Lands Series and it is fun, challenging and depending on your choice of difficulty it can be tough. Lots of FUN though.

The fifth game in the Lost Land series and probably the best one so far. The developers started hitting their strides regarding pacing and gameplay and it shows in this game. There’s not a lot of useless backtracking, the dialogue for the two main characters is better, the plot has some weight for the characters, and the length of both the main game and bonus chapter are just right.
I also like how the main character, Susan, gained some snark in her dialogue. Some of her replies to the requests asked of her have the tone of “been there, done that, can’t believe I have to do it again.” She even interrupts a couple of explanations to get to the meat of the matter! I’d say it’s a pretty good improvement for her characterization.
As usual, the artwork is great, detailed, and colorful while the music remains largely unnoticed in the background. Though I have to say the music, while unremarkable, does its job well of providing some background ambiance so the player isn’t playing in silence.
The puzzles, for the most part, weren’t all that challenging. There were a few that required additional thinking, but most of them were the usual run-of-the-mill puzzles found in hidden object games.
Overall, a good game in this series.

Amazing game! It's my very first time playing a Hidden Object game and I definitely wasn't disappointed by this one :)
The collections were tricky to find but not impossible - and the story was nice. Despite it being the 5th in the series, they caught me up with all the important details so I wasn't missing out!
It was super fun finding the objects and using them at the same time, I definitely really liked this game and I'll recommend it to anybody!

One of the better Lost Lands games. The bonus chapter is short and easy though. The supersonic achievement is bugged - on my 4th or 5th < 2 minute HOP it dropped.

Great game! I loved the challenges and puzzles! A few were too easy, like I 'guessed correctly first try' but others were well done. I played casual but without hints and I had moments 'ugh what do i do next' which is the best part of these types of games! Highly recommend Lost Lands series, any one! I live for storylines and this one was actually entertaining. (stray souls:dollhouse and forest ledgeds:call of love-also great!)

Very similar to other Lost Lands games but not as good. A mediocre point and click adventure. Some of the puzzles are pretty irritating and not fun to solve. Overall the game was kind of annoying to play and not very enjoyable.

[Update November 2020: Replaying the series for missing achievements. Still highly recommend this game and the series as a whole! Key feature not mentioned in original review: all minigames can be replayed for missing achievements in the Extras section. This makes getting to 100% considerably easier.]
A good addition to one of my favourite series. The Lost Lands games are more challenging than some, and I enjoy the art and the setting very much. The stories are necessarily somewhat linear, but I'm always curious to find out the story behind the current plot.
Once again (for the genre as a whole, not the series or developer specifically), spells have very limited uses. There is some improvement here in terms of re-use, but I still think there is a lack of creativity. The desire to let the player have "spells" isn't matched by *how* the genre uses spells. (Mind you, I still get annoyed when I use a knife once, toss it away, then need a knife - you'd think I'd be over that by now.)
I had fun, I had happy to see the same world being used (with suitable changes), and it's always nice to see more backstory for Gandalf - er - Maaron.
Definitely worth it if you collect the series, and it's a good price for Steam content with achievements. I'd love to see trading cards for this series. Maybe it's just me, but I like this protagonist. :)

The game is very slow, small cutscense get skipped, game slows down randomely, fucker deleted my save files to never be seen again 3/4ths into the game.
gameplay wise it is very little to do, not many HOG sequences, very few minigames, very slow burning.

An other lovely epic in the Lost Lands saga. Great story, lots of locations & puzzles, kept me happily entertained for the entire 5 hour gameplay. The Bonus chapter didn't really have anything to do with the story directly though, that was odd.

Recommend for the most part.
Pros
.Straightforward, coherent story
.Enjoyable, often funny, protagonist
,Fantastical atmosphere
.Clear, clean lovely artwork/graphics/scenes
.Enhancing music/sounds/voice acting
.Four difficulty modes (including custom)
.Mini-map with fast travel
.Lockable toolbar
.Cursor indicates when object in place for possible use
.Simplistic to intricate adventure play
.Challenging hidden object scenes
.Collectables (static & morphing; one of each per scene)
.Strategy guide
.Bonus chapter
.Bonus content
.Good length
Cons
.Mini-map in awkward place (over hint button)
.One type of hidden object scene
.That type is semi-sequenced/chain silhouette
.Easy mini-puzzles
.Bonus chapter story continues/wraps up/explains a different game's story ('The Four Horsemen')
Final thoughts (7/10):
Charming game. Love the protagonist. The adventure play is great. Fun ride for the most part. My only one real complaint, and this is a personal preference, or rather, aversion, is the the hidden object scenes. I specifically purchased a second game in this series over a second game in 'The Legacy' series due to enjoying the variety of hidden object scenes in 'Dark Overlord' and detesting the one type of hidden object scenes (sequenced silhouette) in 'Forgotten Gates' and so was quite disappointed to find this game only had one type and it was also sequenced silhouette although they are made up of several short chains as opposed to one long one which was the only reason I did not return the game. So I am not sure if I will replay the game despite enjoying the rest of the elements.

This is the first Lost Lands game that I've been disappointed in. The story was decent enough and the graphics were great but my patience ran out with the ridiculous mini games. Some of them required so much time and effort to solve that I skipped them. Some of them had the most cryptic or convoluted instructions. I skipped them too. In the end I only played three of the mini games and finished the game with barely any achievements. There were also many times where there was no clear direction as to what needed to be done next and as a result I had to use the hint button a lot, something I've never needed to do in previous LL games. Some tasks required using an object in your inventory to retrieve another object but half the time the object you needed to use was one you would never instinctively use IRL. It made no sense. At least a lot of the familiar characters were there. I should have waited to see if this game would go on sale before I bought it because it wasn't worth the full price since I highly doubt that I will ever play it again. I wish Steam would give us a middle option for rating games because it wasn't horrible, it was just so-so compared to other games in the LL series. Since a halfway rating doesn't exist this game gets a thumbs down from me. Sorry Five-BN

I'm copy/pasting this across all Lost Lands editions.
The short: beautiful artwork, captivating stories, great cross section of medium to challenging puzzles, very apt orchestral music, detailed but simple menu system that allows instant travel across accessible places.
The Long:
Incredible artistic detail is made possible through pre-rendered 3D worlds and animation along with exceptional hand painted detailing - in Sand Captivity I can't tell whether some character animations are in time or pre-rendered - I'm a 3D artist btw.
The story lines in each of the series carry our imagination from start to finish through use of brief video and character interaction to pull us into another reality where what we see in our mind feels real - if you don't get this then I pity you.
Music has been composed with full understanding of the plot behind the Lost Lands series - hardship in overcoming challenges towards the end goal. Instrumental sections such as horns, strings and percussion excel with each solo supported by exceptional backing by associated orchestral sections.
There is absolutely no slouch on programming - I've been programming systems for over 30 years and succeeded against 'the impossible' a number of times. While I certainly have not tested hint everywhere, I have no question that it works everywhere as when I have needed it, it worked perfectly. Every minigame has a Skip where most show us the solution in real time.
I'll go further to say that there is absolutely no slouch on progamming...or testing it. During every 'End Minigame Video' that I've tried to, I have fast travelled out then back without a minigame ever failing to complete - their progamming and testing is bullet proof.
The bottom line is that Five-BN cover a number of types of entertainment, in many ways, with their Lost Lands series.
While I'm at I've bought most of their games where I've seen the logical structure change without ever losing the focus they have - there is no other entertainment developer I know of to have their dedication.

When Susan is suddenly transported in her PJ's, I loved it! Another great moment was when Susan looks at an object and says, "It's locked", but her companion says the equivalent of , "Naaahh, phooey on a stupid lock", and whacks it with his giant hammer. LOL!!!!!! I laughed & said, "Now, THAT'S the way to treat those dumb locks!"
Great artwork, colors, story, and voice (particularly good}, and music.
Lots of collectibles, morphs, and more. You can go back & get what you missed.
Map allows hyperjumping and shows collectibles.
Hint button
Skip button for puzzles. The devs did a good job on creating these.

The fourth Last Lands was a dud, but with this fifth entry in the casual point-and-click adventure series we are finally back on track. It's not quite as long as previous games, but the story is pretty good and diverse, with amusing characters and pleasant changes of pace.
If I have any complaint it would be: Susan. Our fearless protagonist has really worn out her welcome. She never had any personality, but one would think that after all she's been through, something creative would emerge. Nope.
As usual, very few hidden-object scenes but many good puzzle mini-games.

This is as good as any of the Lost Lands games. As usual the graphics, story and puzzles are well done. I think this is one of the best game series out there. But it does have a low replay value so buy it on sale. ;).

This is another game in the Lost Lands series that continues Susan's interactions as the heroine of the Lost Lands.
A fun hidden-object game with frequent puzzles. Mechanics and basic story are very similar to the other games. As a stand alone, it would be interesting if you like the genre, but I think you miss a lot of the lore that builds from the previous games.
I would recommend this game to keep your collection complete, and definitely pick it up if it's on sale!

Fifth in the series (as far as I can tell), a museum security guard accidentally triggers a magical artifact causing Fimbulwinter in the Lost Lands. As the Chosen One, you are summoned there to try and reverse the curse.
Exciting plot, challenging HO scenes, and fun minigames await. Get it in the bundle.

I liked this game but was very disappointed that I couldn't get the Supersonic achievement. I replayed it lots of times and did it within the required 2 minutes but still nothing happened. I had the same problem with Lost Lands Wanderer.

Good solid generic puzzle HOG. Storyline is OK, graphics are nice, puzzles are all ones you've seen before. HOGs are the type where you pick up items from the scene and use them to obtain more items. There are no traditional HOGs. Worth buying on sale.
