This is a rushed DLC, the scenario is very hard, not on purpose but from neglect. After failing several times I check youtube and learn the exploites needed to progress. Seems like they did not test this one at all. Turn of the snow mechanic, it slow any train down to 1mph and is pure crap.

Very interesting DLC, scenario is pretty hard but managed to overcome it on normal AI difficulty, normal track settings and manual pause (i am a newbie). Map has a very interesting setting, I really like the weather changes during winter.

Just got this DLC and find its better than the rest of the game, first it allows you to build your first production buildings in most cities, there is one fault I have found in the Apple plantation, they have no use at the moment. I take it that there is a limit on how many products of the same can be had in a city.Like making cheese in one city and cannot in the rest. Overall this is a good game, and would like to see this idea for Northern Europe, made available to all the other nations maps, in being able to choose your first production in the area. Well done Devs.

Really liked this scenario. The map was huge and with a lot of detail and a good amount of challenge. The winter mechanic was certainly interesting, it forced you to plan ahead and use more trains when the weather was nice to stockpile some resources and the map changing colors was cool. Have to admit though that trains going 3 kph the first year wasn't funny, specially because yo start in winter. I wished the challenge was better distributed; the first few years are hard but after a point you have so much money you can even buy all your competitors at once. But overall it was a lot of fun!

Sadly little unique effort went into this one - with several assets recycled from the previous Europe-themed DLCs. Still, the scenario is fun enough to justiy its (comparatively low) price.

I really like Railroad Empire and I've played all of the Railroad Empire DLCs, but I found this one the least interesting. I found the map monotonous; just endless forests and rocks on a mostly flat landscape...trees and rocks...all the same color. When I think of Scandanavia I see deep fjords with steep cliffs and tall pines and there is only a poor example of this in the upper left corner of the map. And the snow causes your trains to run ridiculously slow. It left me wondering why they went to Northern Europe when they already did Germany and France and the British Isles. Give us some varied and interesting landscapes. Maybe in the Orient? Even so, I still have to recommend this DLC. After all, it is Railway Empire and the Scenario was fun and challenging.

The scenario from this DLC is a tough nut to crack. I would not recommend this DLC to newer Players, as you need to know what you're doing on this one. If you have played through a bunch of the other DLC scenarios than go ahead, this is a fun one for the experienced player.

This was a very hard scenario because of the start of the scenario. Just what you'd expect though, because you grow exponentially in the game, so later tasks should become much easier to crush than earlier ones. But this really takes the cake because northern europe is sparsely populated and not very wealthy in the early railway era, so you start the scenario with an absolute pittance and are tasked with doing quite a lot actually, on a rather short schedule if you are looking for Gold checkmarks (completing goals in half time). And on top of that, you have to deal with Winter freezing your lines, for months, which disrupts city supply and growth as well as disrupt your revenue cadence. There's not a lot of variability in the early game, in this scenario, which is the frustrating thing, but once Lykoping and Nikoping's objectives are bagged, you're much more free to open the range. I strong recommend as a tip, because of low starting cash only use 1 double track between your 2 starting cities, and either a) double track grain to HQ and send grain to city 2 along city-city line, or b) only single track grain to either city at first (I don't like this, because city 2 will take as much grain as you can throw at it for sweetbread, you'll probably start with at least 3 grain trains in total).

Good. New goods, weather, engines and large map. As usual. Scenario maybe too hard, but it's not a problem but challenge.

omg this was total garbage! the northern europe is a tiny part of sweden and denmark. and about 10 % of norway.. and the map is also tiny in game. it feels like a map in a city builder and not a transport game. just awfull. nobody should ever spend money on this.

"Railway Empire" has several DLCs that expand the game’s content and features. Each DLC typically introduces new scenarios, train models, and sometimes even new regions to explore. Here’s a general overview of what players have found appealing and less appealing about these expansions: ### Positive Aspects: 1. **New Content**: Each DLC adds a variety of new trains and technologies, enhancing the gameplay experience and giving players more options for their railway networks. 2. **Scenarios**: Many of the DLCs include unique scenarios that provide fresh challenges and objectives, keeping the gameplay engaging. 3. **Expanded Regions**: Some DLCs introduce new geographical areas, allowing players to explore different economic landscapes and historical contexts. 4. **Strategic Depth**: New features, such as industries or events, often require players to adapt their strategies, adding depth to the management aspect of the game. 5. **Visuals and Audio**: The expansions typically maintain the high-quality visuals and immersive audio design of the base game, enhancing the overall experience. ### Critiques: 1. **Price vs. Content**: Some players feel that certain DLCs are priced too high for the amount of content they provide, leading to mixed reviews regarding value. 2. **Balancing Issues**: Occasionally, new trains or technologies can disrupt game balance, making some strategies overly dominant or others less viable. 3. **Complexity**: The added layers of mechanics can sometimes feel overwhelming, especially for newcomers, potentially detracting from the enjoyment. 4. **Bugs and Performance**: Like many expansions, some DLCs may launch with bugs or performance issues, which can affect gameplay until patched. ### Conclusion Overall, the "Railway Empire" DLCs generally receive positive feedback for enriching the game and providing fresh experiences. However, players should consider their own preferences and budget before diving into the expansions, as some might not find the additional content worth the investment. If you enjoy the base game, the DLCs can be a great way to extend your railway empire!

I wrote a really negative review last time I tried out this DLC. I'm glad devs listened to the feedback and fixed all of the issues that I mentioned :) This time around I enjoyed drawing up the railroad between Göteborg and Stockholm, building a powerhouse industry in Småland and exporting tons of those goods to Norway. Having played through many of the RE DLCs, this one is probably the most challenging so far. It's a tight budget in the beginning and due to the harsh conditions in the north you need extensive use of warehouses to prevent the cities from dwindling during the long winter. However, once you get your economy going and finish those first early objectives, it's a fun map, especially when you can start optimizing the South of Sweden without that pesky snow.

Snow is just bringing your engines to standstill. Not really fun. It's a new map. With some knäcke.
