Starpoint Gemini 2: Secrets of Aethera

If you liked Starpoint Gemini 2, then you'll probably like this DLC. New campaign missions are alright. Side missions for major factions add some fluff to the universe and break up the monotony of salvaging ships for cash. You'll be seeing some familiar faces from the campaign if you choose to do them, and they reward a blueprint for a strong piece of equipment for every mission chain completed. New ships look nice and have some pretty good quirks to them that make them worth purchasing. There's also a customizable beam weapon that you can purchase from the new station. While beam weapons tend to fall out of favor in the endgame due to short range and not being terribly effective against capital ships, you can customize said beam weapon to have more range, more damage, or consume less energy, though the customization aspect forces you to balance between the three attributes (i.e. a highly damaging weapon can either be long ranged or consume a lot of energy per shot, an energy efficient weapon will have to sacrifice damage or range, etc.) You can also tack on special effects to the beam weapon like energy drain, extra shield damage, "lifesteal" (repairs your hull while damaging enemy hull), etc. The extra effects tacked on to the beam weapon can be enhanced if you pour extra money into researching upgrades, though you can only have 3 extra effects on the beam weapon at a time. Overall, I got about 5-8 hours of enjoyment from this DLC for only $5 or so, which is a good value in my opinion.

First the big content update on the main game and a day after a good and price worth DLC. 5 bucks for this DLC is a steal... And i bought it a few weeks later >50% off< in sale! 2,50 bucks, nothing more to say. Just awesome! SPG2 shaped up very well after the rocky release! This is an indie team that stands behind their baby! Keep up the good work!

Quite a nice addition for only $5. It came just one day after a major content update and adds new ships, stations, regions and more! Well worth it in my opinion.

This DLC contains a handful of story missions that are trivial if you've already played the main story. Besides that, it contains some nice (though ultimately unnecessary) mid-game ships, a few decent ship system enhancements, and the ability to "craft" (i.e. spend credits to design) very good guns, because of course you need to stomp all over everything. Though I guess having pink laser guns (which also come in your choice of a few other colours) is nice? Anyway, despite the standard cost of only US$5.00, I would (and did) wait for a sale on this. My impression is one of mediocrity and fairly sparse content. I don't know whether to thumb this up or down, but Steam says I have to choose one.

this is a real fun game easy to play and get into. very aditive this game is similar to freelancer but its not freelancer. very high def play this game with nvidia or amd gpus the latest if possible. i have two gtx 970sc in sli i love this game.

nothing but problems since installed dlc. try to kill a ghost and everytime game freeze skips for couple seconds and kicks me to windows. than cant get game started again and have to do a hard restart of system. every fing time.

This "DLC" feels more like a traditional expansion when you consider what you are getting compared to the full game. On the amount of new content alone v.s. the original game's price this should cost about double what it does. This will quite possibly be the most worth it "DLC" you ever buy.

Glitched mission where you try to send troops to board Kepler but they won't send. Can't progress. Finished the DLC. It's extremely short.

Huge amount of content for a surprisingly low price.

So without question, its bought. this game deserves your attention buy it and support the game developers they deserver it! its 10/10 game and i cant wait to try the new DLC out in its fullest!
