Spartan Fist

Good fun for a quick round of satisfying violence. Combat feels good, impactful and weighty. I'm liking the variation of fist types and modifiers (dips) which seem to be able to stack. Nothing better than feeling temporarily OP when there's heads to punch. Love the environmental hazards, especially the train - I pushed a dude onto a train track and then he started blocking me, but instead of breaking his block like I normally would, I just kept tapping away at him until the train came. Can't block that. The game can get very hectic in a good way. One on one a good circle strafe seems to do the trick for dumb enemies, but it can get very busy when you're surrounded, so dodging and waiting for openings starts to become important. I'm surprised there's not more first person melee combat games out there, it's such a fun gameplay style. I got a lot of joy from the first person combat of Dark Messiah of Might and Magic, and also Zeno Clash. This games gives me that melee goodness without all the story chaff. Sometimes that's exactly what the doctor ordered. If you enjoy a bit of replayable punchy punchy I would recommend it.

For far too long, we have lacked a video game with the bold decision to focus exclusively on kittens and fists. Spartan Fist takes a great deal of time and effort into feeling like your many fists feel as though they have real impact; sound, camera-shake, particle effects, even time slowing down just a little bit makes each punch feel like an accomplishment. Additionally, this is a great game if you're a busy person who plays games to relax and destress. The second you start playing, you're in the action. From what I can see so far, it's the sort of game that you can pick up and play for an hour, or just fifteen minutes before you get back to work. The game reminded me of Heat Signature in that it respects your time, acknowledging that we're all crazy busy these days, and sometimes we'll only have a few moments to play, and that's perfectly valid. The randomness of level layouts keeps things fresh, the different fists keeps fights varied, and again, this is a game that makes a great deal of effort to make interaction *feel* good. I was also particularly fond of the art direction and level design. The arenas always give you enough space to move around, as the audience cheers you on, and the environmental hazards are fun- but more than that, the game feels beautifully made. The colors are vibrant, the cute aesthetic makes the people-exploding levels of violence hilarious rather than disturbing, and despite only seeing two levels so far (the open arena and train levels), I've already greatly enjoyed the variation in environments. Everything just... fits together. The game feels like it earnestly wants you to enjoy its zany world, to feel like the fist-powered superhero that we all aspire to be. Finally, it feels like the developer really cared about everyone who might be interested in the game. If you're up for a hyper-violent-punching-people-so-hard-they-explode sort of fantasy, that's here, but if you particularly fond of blood in your entertainment, you can replace the little red cubes with rainbows instead. The options menu lets you tweak the violence, FOV, and camera shake to whatever is right for you, the tutorial tries to let you know everything you need, but doesn't slow you down either- the game sincerely wants you to have as much fun as possible. It feels earnest in a wonderful way. It's a good game. I hope the devs are proud of their hard work and effort. It paid off.

Purchased it on a complete whim, but I do not regret my unhealthy spontaneous impulse buying. Spartan Fist is basically a First Person-Beat Em Up-Rougelike, with fantastic execution, combat, and overall flow. It's basically Gorn but without the VR aspect, definitely reccomend this one for sure!

(Optional) Rainbow Blood and Riot Grrl music, 10/10. Pro tip - there are a ton of options. I like turning off the auto-lock for playing on a mouse, and there's an option called "Dude Level" - I will leave that for you to find out what it does.

It has an interesting premise, but it in [b] serious [/b] need of polishing, especially since it isn't an Early Access title. First of all, some of the button presses were not being registered and even scrolling to select stances occasionally stopped working altogether. It must be noted that this has occurred with multiple mice tested. Secondly, it does indeed become repetitive combat-wise, since combos are not present and one cannot launch both fists simultaneously at the very least. Finally, it is kinda slow performance-wise for a game with such a simplistic, voxel-stylized, 3D aesthetic; more optimization is strongly recommended. Overall, it does show some promise; however, the execution needs to be improved upon [b][i] significantly [/i][/b] before this could be recommended to anyone with a feigning interest in it.

A fun Boxing Roguelike interesting combat. you can do knockback and juggle combos in this game. It's a bit short with only four stages, and the bosses are a bit repetitive, but it's a fun title nonetheless. It's also pretty easy to get 100% acheivement on this.

Super satisfying game. The visual feedback from, well, everything is vibrant and over the top as one would expect from a dude puncher roguelike. Punches feel weighty and hurty when they connect. Pick it up and punch you some dudes.

Enjoyable! Combat and movement per room feel natural, and the larger scale mechanics make sense. Greatly enjoyed the rogue-like aspects, for someone who has disliked moke rogue-likes, this was a refreshing change of pace. Huge ups for making a modern game run on my laptop as well, this is the first game I've played with a release date of more recent than 2013, so it took some fiddling in the settings and suddenly it was running super well. I was really impressed there. Overall, the game is great. The one or two minor complaints I had were solved in the Gameplay settings, so after the testing stage I was running the game well and enjoying myself.

Adorable game -- wander through generated arenas and punch people until they explode, looking for the ultimate boxing glove. It's easy to pick up, but the different gloves and dips give it some variety, and the later levels are decently challenging. Feels like a goofy first-person brawling version of BoI.

Fantastic little game; like a boxy, bloody Binding of Isaac that *I* can enjoy! I usually skim over most indie roguelikes, but this one really grabs me for a couple of reasons: A.) The levels are attractive and the floor layout is truly random (you can spawn next to the exit, if you're equipped to fight the boss). B.) It's extremely fun to experiment with the fists and dips, trying to find a style that works for both you and the area. C.) The aesthetic is cute, but not obnoxious, the writing is enjoyably slangy, and everything is breakable. Some caveats: A) Audio cues for traps are a bit hard to make out while engaged with a ton of bad folks. B) It took me a while to figure out that you weren't really giving up your fist at the fist portal. All in all, a great game that I plan to go back and actually finish.

First of all the music is great. Secondly it is delightful to uppercut a dude then smash him on the way down. While I would also like to have the character yell SHORYUKEN it is probably not the best idea legally speaking, but nothing is stopping you from doing that yourself. Also the uppercut sends you so high into the air you can use it to maneuver across platforms which I highly recommend. The game has a great aesthetic, a great sense of humor (including upgrade "dips" you put your fists into that are things like... cheese), and well placed slow downs like when you punch through a door, hurling some poor dude across the room because obviously when two disjointed fists are pummeling your friends you stand next to rickety wooden doors waiting for them to enter. I'm not sure why your health bar is red but the blue pickups restore health. Maybe it's so they stand out among all the red blood and guts you're splattering around everywhere. Don't play this game if you don't like punching. Also you really need to watch the second video in the horizontal list above if you haven't.

It has all the elements that make you think it's gonna be fun. Straight away you think maybe it's a bit janky due to the Unity engine. Then shortly after it becomes apparent it was made by someone with a clinically bad sense of timing and understanding of game play feel. If ever there was a game that should be historically preserved to demonstrate how these aspects can derail a game, this is it.

Stone hand+ that one upgrade that makes it stronger with no downside is op. Please keep it in the game. It's fun to use.

Cartoony nonsense! It's a roguelite that doesn't overstay its welcome: I was able to beat it for the first time in a few hours, but there's plenty of room for replaying and grinding out upgrades if you want more. It's cute and colorful and offers a bunch of different "fists" to play in different ways... although you'll probably find your favorites. And don't worry: the animals are fine.

The fact there is a fist called the Bandage Fist based upon Fist of the North Star is good enough for me. Look at my Avatar.

A good concept brought to a grinding halt by the broken lock on system, I don't know if it's supposed to activate randomly but many times I've hit enemies only to suddenly turn thirty degrees to somebody who's not even in striking distance. In it's current state I can't recommend you buy this.

The combat is really difficult to enjoy. It's pretty slow and there's no room for creativity. You would expect with being able to equip two different fists there would be combos. Nope. Or with the different stances you could swap quick and do cool moves. Nope. I can't really tell the difference between any of the fists or stances. Except that the game forces you to switch stances to break an enemy shield which usually pops up right before they die. I think the ideas are there for a good game but the implementation has failed.

Wanted to like it but just couldn't find it fun, kept getting beaten for whatever reason, either being a bad gamer or the game itself or both

I've only played for 15 minutes, but so far I already love it. The art style is fantastic. It's voxel, but doesn't feel super blocky - it feels very detailed. The areas feel alive, and you feel satisfying feedback. (Punching dudes bodies who you've already killed shouldn't feel so satisfying.) It's a try again rogue lite. So I'm looking forward to keep playing and getting better. Would definitely recommend. Anyway, I have to get back to playing! :)

Gets pretty old pretty fast, punch bunch of voxel enemies in arena after arena with THE SAME SONG ON LOOP EVERY COUPLE OF SECONDS!

The combat is... not great, sometimes your punches wont connect at all, specially with a claw gauntlet (the alt attack is actually pretty good), and when the game is literally centered in MELEE COMBAT and it doesnt work.. i think we got a problem. it feels like it was made for a controller but in the worst way possible. the asthethic is nice, the soundtrack gets so repetitive i ended up muting the game. its also really buggy, the first boss (Meow Max) can hurt you on his intro cinematic, and his AI is so stupidly easy to exploit, its actually impossible to lose. not worth 15 bucks AT ALL, expect the -50% -60% price drop in the comming weeks

This game feels like trove but if it was in first person and less responsive. Good idea but bad execution
