Feels bittersweet completing this game even though I know there is a sequel. I found the ending so abrupt honestly and I was expecting it to continue more.. But great game anyway and I have no regrets investing my time here. I want to play KCD II so bad but I doubt my laptop can handle it. Till then!

Everyone told me "This game is so good! The story is great. The fighting is super difficult, but realistic. You'll see you'll love it!" Honestly the story is good, well written really entertaining. I enjoyed it. The universe is beautifull, full of life. The fighting? ... The worse I've ever seen in ANY GAMES. A lot of people told me "You'll get used to it, just take your time". Anyone saying that are just making excuses for a bad combat AI. Every ennemies are simply pushing until they are in your face. All you can see is their face, then they shove you and stab you. This game is sold as a "Story-driven open-world RPG that immerses you in an epic adventure" not a "Medieval simulator." I personally lost count of the amount time I get ambushed by 3-6 people and all you can do is run away. If you try to fight them they will just press you foward until you get stuck in something and then they just shive you to death. The bad fighting AI removes all the fun from the game. I had more fun playing tarkov with the silent granades than this game.

Jesus Christ be praised, this is a peasant simulator -- 8/10 The best thing about this game, it's a realistic medieval simulator, the worst thing it's a realistic medieval simulator... so you will suffer and die for a lot of things (Don't forget to save!). The game has a well written story, however I faced some terrible bugs that I had to load the previous saved game in order to continue, another good reason to save often (I spent like more than an hour stuck hunting hares with Hans because the game didn't progress the quest). Took me some time to get used to the combat system and learning master strike helps a lot. This is not a game for everyone, and if you want to give it a shot, remember: you are a peasant, you don't have resources, don't know how to read, don't know how to fight, don't have any support, you are alone and you are just a fragile human being in a ruthless world. Good luck!

The Elder Scroll series wished it was this good. This game is very ambitious and a very admirable take on making a medieval simulator game. This game feels like Daggerfall but with modern engine and a real historical setting. My main gripe with this game is that the combat is very good, but can be a little overwhelming and clunky when fighting against multiple enemy and there are some quest-breaking bug that, combines with limited save, can cause frustration. A very unique take on RPG in this gaming landscape, and a must try if you could handle some of the bug it has.

This game is an incredibly slow burn. Every other RPG I've ever played, you start weak, but still a child of destiny. This game? Henry can't read, fist fight, hold a sword. Nothing. I started the game in 2020 and bounced off hard after only a few hours. Fast forward to 2025 and multiple videos of Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 have motivated me to give it another go. It still moves at a glacial pace, but once you're given a horse and can move freely around the countryside, the enjoyment ramps up. I'm about 25 hours in and am committed to seeing the credits roll. If you've ever had any interest in this game, you've probably already tried it. If you haven't but are still curious... wait for a Steam sale. There's no middle ground with this game. You'll love it or you'll hate it. Wait for a sale so you don't have a huge buyer's regret in the event you hate it.

Such an immersive and well written medieval rpg, something we're kinda lacking a lot of. Just a purely medieval historical rpg. This game is excellent in so many different ways. The story is quite interesting with some fun beats that make it engaging. It's also quite historically accurate, with the small details down to the armor and the architecture being true to the time period. The combat is very in depth and leaves you to your own to strategize properly, making you think before engaging in combat. The realism of the world and the way it forces you into the shoes of the character are spectacular. In full honesty, I don't really have anything negative to say except maybe the camera could be better. A very solid game and I highly recommend it.

It's a fantastic medieval sim and good RPG. The forests are really nice visually and have fitting audio, both adding to the great ambience. Quests are hit and miss with some very good and others more like fetch-quests. Combat is a bit janky, definitely in the beginning.

This game is extremely buggy, so save often and maybe look up common bugs before playing. The quests and atmosphere are very immersive, though, and the game reminds me a lot of Skyrim (minus the dragon) and The Witcher 3 (minus... well, more fantasy monsters). Good music, voice acting, and mostly historically accurate. Some mechanics are difficult to grasp at first but are satisfying once you learn how they work. I think this game is worth playing. Just be careful not to let those time sensitive quests fail!
Buggy, but beautiful
I picked up this game plus all DLC's for around $4, and it has been easily one of the best dollar/hour spent on a game in recent memory. I think most other reviews have already covered my thoughts for the most part; beautiful open world with untold amount of possibilities and some quirks that may put some people off playing. Combat: If you don't want to be frustrated with combat, SPAR WITH BERNARD!!! Maybe for an hour, that's it. Once you get the master strike, all combat 1v1 is easy. I initially ignored the combat arena which made combat incredibly frustrating. Once I got master strike, I could easily clear out small camps of bandits. Then loot and sell their stuff for profit which let me get better gear which made combat easier. I'd advise against trying to go 1v5 for example because in this game realism will hit you like a spiked war hammer and you'll easily get your arse kicked. Saving: This is the one area besides combat that initially put me off this game. I liked the idea of going back to a bed to sleep and saving, but I do like to explore and the thought of going back to my bed didn't make sense. Well for those who have already played, they know you don't have to. Inn's, rooms in towns you get from completing quests, and camps all have beds to heal and save at. I admit I added just one mod so I could save anywhere I wanted, but after a while I ended up finding a bed to sleep and save at without even thinking about it. Bugs: Unfortunately there are still bugs in this game that sometimes are funny, and others frustrating. Note, I did have that save mod installed, so maybe your experience will be better. Sometimes I'd exit a room without committing any crime or carrying any stolen goods and a guard would initiate combat because I did something wrong. Once I got my speech high enough I'd just talk my way out of it, but still annoying to pay or just deal with. Other bugs could be citizens running through a combat arena and I'd accidentally hit them when I was swinging at the opponent which would be a crime; then all of a sudden I am wanted and going 1v4 with guards. These bugs weren't too common, so after some frustration I could get passed them. I don't think the devs will go back and patch this with KCD2 out now, so you'll have to rely on forum/reddit/other sources to get passed specific bugs if you encounter them. Realism vs. Game: What I mean is, their is definitely an element of realism here and less game. One example would be you don't get a "brew potion" button. You have to gather the ingredients and actually put it together. Put ingredient in, boil for a turn, put next ingredient in, boil, then let cool and put last ingredient in. I initially hated it because I just wanted to get a move on to the next thing. But after a few times, I got the hang of it and came to enjoy it. Overall I think at the prices this game is going for, it's worth picking up. I have not played KCD2 at time of writing, but from everything I heard it's a better game. If anything, playing KCD might give some characters more background when playing KCD2. Kind of like The Witcher 3.

As a big history enthusiast this game was a blast for me. Having said that I still would admit that it is not without its flaws. The story, while slow-paced at times, is really good. The world the developers created also feels quite realistic. Another thing I rather liked are the entries about the life in the medieval times one is able to read as the game progresses. The skill system in the game is enjoyable to use and requires practice to get better, making the game more immersive in tandem with a slew of other mechanics, like: needing to sleep, hunger and cleanliness. Another of those immersive elements is the effect the character’s clothing has on social interaction and stealth. The visual side of the game is quite beautiful with sprawling forests, meadows and fields interspersed with villages, towns and castles. Truth be told, I would sometimes just ignore looking for the next quest objective and go gather flowers in the fields instead, while doing some sightseeing. In terms of combat the game is quite challenging, especially at the beginning, before you can afford a decent armour and learn some necessary skills. Melee combat is rather demanding in terms of player’s reflexes. As for archery the difficulty comes from entirely different thing – the lack of a reticule, which makes aiming a real conundrum. A mechanic I really enjoyed in the game was potion making. Even after unlocking the ability to make discovered potion recipes automatically, I would still spend hours on end manually making them, because of how good the mechanic felt. As for the previously mentioned flaws. In my opinion the combat was a bit too difficult in the early game, while I understand the reasoning behind such decision (the character has no combat experience whatsoever), it still can put a lot of players off the game. Another problem where the immersion breaking, impassable bushes strewn throughout the map. They are extremely annoying when trying to find a shortcut to the next quest location and getting stuck on them can end up forcing the player to reload a save, and that is a real nightmare in a game where saving is tied to having a resource available, an important moment in a story or resting in a bed. In conclusion, Kingdom Come Deliverance is a deeply immersive game with a great, though at times slow-paced, story and stunning environment. The combat is rather difficult and requires fast reflexes of the player to do well in it. While the game has some problems, it is still an enjoyable experience. I would recommend it to anyone who loves both games and history, and is not easily put off by difficult combat mechanics.

Combat system is % based derived from stats and its annoying as hell until you're just powerful enough to trivialize most of it. Also, worst save game system ever. Lost MANY hours of playtime due to how they made it work. Couldn't finish the game.

I have tried every fix in the book to get past a bugged out quest. Multiple play throughs, console commands, mods, coding, -devmode, etc. I have spent 5 of those in game hours trying to fix a problem. And it all has to do with reputation. I decided to play the first one before the second. Now I don't think I'll even buy the other! How the hell do I have a good reputation with Runt's bandits?! I keep failing the Baptism quest bc the game thinks the Cumans and the Bandits are my allies. I've done everything. And now I officially give up. Uninstalled, wish I could get my money back.....

Amaizing graphics, story, roleplay. Combat makes the game unplayable, i've played it more than 20 hours but enough, its my 20th try to just kill 3 armed people to keep going with the main story. Combat system makes no sense, in a one enemy focused system you try to beat 3 people at the same time. I just rage-quitted and uninstalled the game. Definitely unplayable game.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance is a bold and ambitious RPG from Warhorse Studios that sets itself apart by striving for historical accuracy and realism in a richly detailed medieval world. Rather than leaning on fantasy elements or supernatural themes, the game immerses players in 15th-century Bohemia, where survival depends on realistic combat, authentic social dynamics, and careful attention to daily life. This grounded approach creates a unique role-playing experience that feels both fresh and challenging. One of the most remarkable aspects of Kingdom Come: Deliverance is its commitment to authenticity. The game’s open world is painstakingly crafted based on historical research, with realistic towns, landscapes, and period-appropriate characters. Combat mechanics are complex and deliberate, emphasizing timing, stamina, and skill rather than button-mashing. The learning curve can be steep, especially for those unfamiliar with medieval swordplay, but mastering the intricacies of fencing and archery feels immensely rewarding and adds depth to every encounter. The narrative centers on Henry, a blacksmith’s son thrust into a violent civil war, and the storytelling is engaging without feeling forced. Quests often involve multiple approaches—whether through diplomacy, stealth, or direct confrontation—allowing players to shape their own path. The dialogue system and character interactions are nuanced, reflecting the social hierarchy and cultural norms of the time, which enriches immersion and role-playing opportunities. Visually, Kingdom Come: Deliverance impresses with its detailed environments and atmospheric lighting, capturing the rugged beauty and harshness of medieval life. The world feels alive, from bustling market towns to dense forests, although occasional technical hiccups and bugs can disrupt the experience. The soundtrack and ambient sounds effectively enhance the mood, from tense battle sequences to quiet moments in the countryside. Overall, Kingdom Come: Deliverance is a rewarding but demanding RPG that offers a rare glimpse into medieval life with an emphasis on realism and historical fidelity. It may not appeal to those seeking fast-paced action or fantasy escapism, but for players who appreciate thoughtful storytelling, authentic combat, and immersive world-building, it delivers a deeply satisfying journey through a turbulent period of history. Rating: 8/10

Icecream with pieces of sharp glass I loved the immersion, the idea and intentions behind the game, you really feel like being the main hero, so many ideas there, very good story telling and intention. I would even say the introduction chapter is totally amazing. But, there are so many issues with the game, making it dangerous to play. - Bugs foremost, still after years I even had to once completely restart game, as one important NPC simply disappeared from the game and nothing helped (tournament herald). - Fight system: On PC, basically impossible to reliably use combos. I managed to pull these off only in 1on1 on flat terrain. But if there are multiple enemies, moving around on uneven terrain, you can forget it, I managed to pull off the most simple one only 1/5 times at best. - Fight system II: If you try to create even the smallest distance, enemies magically catch up and tackle you to ground like Usain Bolt on super-steroids. The mechanics was to prevent baiting and killing off groups one by one, but this is really terrible decision how to avoid that. - WoT features (Waste of Time) - many things there are simply taking too much time without any justification. In some cases most likely a feature should have been and abandoned, in some cases it tastes like intention for the game to take 20hrs just to wash your hands. - Game logic: Or things totally not understandable, just an example: You get so much meat from one rabbit, that you would feed whole city for 1 month, but it spoiles before you manage to get back to town. It is nice, that the spoil timer is 2 days, but as 1 game-day EQ ca 90min, when you reach the city, you have only stinky slime in your pocket. - did I mention bugs? Overall I am happy I played the game, as the positives exceed the negatives in the first play, but at the thought of playing again I get really sick. -- Tried the Hardcore mode after the normal, very good ideas there, but you have to be an expert in the game to be able to enjoy it and I could not bring myself to play the game again ... ever.

It's unbelievable that after all these years, I've put off writing a review for this masterpiece. I was too busy playing I guess. One of the first games ever that I cared to achievement complete. (IT'S HARD). Take into account of the size of the development team for this game vs the latest sequel. Just over 20 developers taking the risk on something they weren't sure would even be successful. However, they managed to make a breathtaking work of art that is has the graphics, historical depth, masterful storytelling, and character development that will pull your heart strings and leave you forever changed like many other great RPGs that came before it. I greatly encourage playing KCD I before II because there are many facets of this game that I believe outperform the latter. Mainly due to the nostalgia, I admit. Not the combat though. I enjoy not being ganged up on by 20 Cumans charging me at the same time. RIP my controllers.

If you wish to 100% complete this game, simply do not even try. All achievements try to farm playtime, without challenge. Some achievements would be fine if this game wasn't so buggy that hours of progress is suddenly erased, or randomly taking tons of fall damage when walking down the stairs. Though, if you don't care about being a completionist then you'll be able to put up with the bugs, as the game itself is good despite the many half-done side quests and DLC. I've gotten my moneys worth in playtime, even though my last 30 hours was quite tedious and buggy, with nothing to show for it.

A uniquely immersive RPG that demands patience and rewards realism." After 41 hours, I can confidently say this is not your average action-RPG. Kingdom Come: Deliverance is an ambitious and grounded medieval experience with a slow start but a deeply satisfying payoff. The combat system is challenging and requires practice, and the historical authenticity—from the dialogue to the architecture—is outstanding. ✅ Pros: Realistic combat with weight and strategy Deep world-building rooted in actual history Meaningful quests with consequences Immersive atmosphere and soundtrack ❌ Cons: Steep learning curve (especially early combat and saving system) Some lingering bugs and occasional jank Pacing may feel slow if you're expecting instant gratification If you're looking for a historical RPG that respects realism over fantasy and you're willing to take your time learning its systems, this game will reward you. Recommended.

The save system is crap (unless you waste a few hours on alchemy or install a mod), the optimization is crap (it runs worse than games released seven years later), and the combat is crap (outside of duels). The game and its developers are very pretentious and attract the worst kind of audience, making the game's community unbearable. Outside of that, the game is pretty good, but it gets overshadowed.

There is a lot of good stuff here, but unfortunately I cannot enjoy this due to a couple of things: - Forced camera lock in a first person game, where You fight multiple enemies more often than not. - Master Strike making the whole combat system pointless. - Dependence on numerical values of skill is slightly too important for my tastes - You can find yourself performing combos and applying combat rules correctly, but barely hitting anything because the number on the character sheet is too low. This wouldn't be a problem in a less interactive combat system. Thankfully it's mostly noticeable only in the early game. - Tons of bugs and iffy performance 7 years after release. If You don't mind things I listed, You're probably in for a good time.

With still a buttload of achievements to complete and undiscovered sidequests to set out on. This review comes too late to be helpful to anyone, but it must be said this game has surpassed my every expectation, especially when I think I've seen it all. It is a constant delight. The writing is brilliant and capable of seriousness and humor. The difficulty progression is very nice, and overcoming the difficulty spikes is rewarding. Even the jank (there is some here and there) is charming. I dearly love this medieval fashion immersive sim, and I expect I'll be buying the sequel in the same hour I beat this game.

A very beautiful and quite long RPG that represents medieval history of Bohemia. Graphics are great and I found the story and character dialogue quite good. Great game with a glossery of real historical facts that one can match up with the storyline of the game. Very well done and somewhat quite hard in the begining to level up due mostly to its strange fighting setup. Very unlike other games with a keyboard and mouse. Might be better with a controler. But thruout the whole game, I found (like in real life) one really cant get overwhelmed by too many enemies. Attacking and running away and using the your trusty dog companion to distract an enemy while you come in from a side or rear attack. Using bow attacks from horseback was a favorite of mine, then simply run off before the whole camp engaged you. However, one disapointment I found was that you really cant use your horse to attack like calvary like in some other games. I found this somewhat unrealistic since a moving horse with a lance or spear would devastate a small camp of enemies. Still a great game to play though and from I hear, alot of mods for this game in steams mod community.

It's very good. The combat is tricky, but can be learned after some time. The quests and the branching trees for them are excellent. I love that I can think of some kid of wacky way to solve a problem and more often than not the developers have thought that out to have some kind of result. There's always a few different paths for any objective and mostly NPCs remember things you did. Occasionally they don;t which is immersion breaking. But by in large there is great verisimilitude. And everything is gorgeous. And last, but not least it is well researched and gives you a lot of insight into what medieval life was like.

🇬🇧 Detailed Positive Review – Kingdom Come: Deliverance Kingdom Come: Deliverance is a truly unique and ambitious open-world RPG that sets itself apart through realism, historical accuracy, and immersive storytelling. Set in the medieval Kingdom of Bohemia during the 15th century, the game puts you in the shoes of Henry, a blacksmith’s son whose peaceful life is turned upside down by war and tragedy. From the very beginning, the narrative grabs your attention with emotional depth and grounded characters. One of the most impressive aspects of the game is its commitment to historical authenticity. There are no dragons, no magic—just raw, brutal, medieval Europe. The world is beautifully crafted, full of life and detail, with villages, castles, forests, and people who feel like they truly belong there. The day-night cycle, realistic armor systems, and the attention to medieval customs all contribute to the immersion. The combat system is deep and challenging, focusing on timing, positioning, and stamina. It may feel difficult at first, but mastering it is extremely rewarding. The RPG elements are complex and encourage you to develop your character through choices, learning, and exploration. From reading books to learning alchemy or perfecting swordplay, everything feels earned, not handed to you. Visually, the game is stunning, especially the natural environments. The soundtrack complements the mood perfectly, and the voice acting (especially in the English version) adds weight to the story. Of course, the game launched with bugs, but most of them have been patched, and the current version is highly playable and polished. ⭐ Verdict: 9/10 – A refreshing, deeply immersive RPG experience that respects the player’s intelligence and rewards patience. A must-play for fans of historical realism and deep role-playing. 🇸🇰 Podrobná kladná recenzia – Kingdom Come: Deliverance Kingdom Come: Deliverance je výnimočné a ambiciózne RPG, ktoré sa odlišuje od ostatných hier svojím dôrazom na realizmus, historickú presnosť a pohlcujúci príbeh. Odohráva sa v stredovekom Českom kráľovstve v 15. storočí a hráč sa ujíma úlohy Jindřicha, syna kováča, ktorému vojna obráti život naruby. Už od prvých minút ťa príbeh vtiahne vďaka emocionálnej hĺbke a uveriteľným postavám. Jednou z najväčších predností hry je jej historická vernosť. Nenájdeš tu žiadne draky ani kúzla – len tvrdý a realistický stredovek. Svet je nádherne spracovaný, plný života, detailov a autentickej atmosféry. Dediny, hrady, lesy a obyvatelia pôsobia prirodzene a živo. Dynamický denný cyklus, realistický systém brnení či rešpektovanie stredovekých zvykov výrazne posilňujú pocit ponorenia do hry.

I went into KCD very blind, and I am thankful for that. The story is well done, and decisions to me felt meaningful. Combat is very challenging at the beginning, and rightfully so, as it fits the narrative well. The more hours I put into KCD (92 so far), the more I want to do in this world. I rarely but DCL's, but KCD is very much making me feel the urge to do so. Just a warning though, there are some bugs that might have you needing to start over, so be aware. Most of these I've come across are due to time related quests and while not game breaking, can make your time in KCD very annoying. Overall, great game and I will definitely be picking up KCD2 in the future.

This game is something special. It is not without its flaws. Even after 7 years there are quite a few bugs that never going to get fixed. Also it is pretty janky sometimes. But it has great atmosphere, the quests are fantastic and it has a super realistic and detailed world. It gives you so much freedom how you tackle things. It doesn't hold your hand and let's you figure out how to solve quests. Seriously this game has some of the strongest quests in any RPG I've ever played. Also I like fantasy but it was cool to play a realistic medieval RPG, especially in a part of the world that is not really represented in games. If you can handle the jank and the bugs then this is a fantastic RPG and a great game overall.

slowburn but worth it. pc has some bugs but they are not game-breaking and only exist during the introduction

Difficult and sometimes frustrating, but ultimately a rewarding game that I keep coming back to.

Fun game with lots of content to immerse yourself in. It is definitely full of jank. None that will ruin your experience, but it will definitely ruin your immersion. Otherwise, I'm surprised at what Warhorse cooked up despite it being their first game. It is true combat can be frustrating especially with multiple enemies. However, when in 1v1 duels, it is very rewarding and satisfying. Movement is also an area that needs to be improved. It's easy to get stuck on things, especially with impassable bushes littering the world map. More importantly, there are many points where you would think you could traverse over, but the game puts up an invisible wall. It can really ruin the experience, especially if you are trying to do something stealthy. Moreover, the later parts of the game can get very tedious. There is a lot of backtracking in various missions. Some are even time gated. It can feel that the game is demanding so much of your time, and at many times with little reward. In spite of my complaints, this is truly a one of kind game, and I would recommend you to try it out. Lots of quests have an open ended design and with all of its jank, this game is still very much immersive. Wait for it to be on sale though.

If brutal realism in your open world RPG is for you, get this game. If you're soft and can't handle dying because YOU PERSONALLY can't figure out how to fight, get another game. But if you're willing to learn the system and work for the rewards, this game is for you.

An absolute masterpiece. For those who like middle ages. Spectacular AI and storytelling. A different game concept and a point of view of the life which is uncommon to western countries people. Welcome to slavic reality.
