Oh my God what a masterpiece. This is nothing short of a love letter to art and storeytelling. The theme of the plot is reflected in the game progression very subtly and carefully. The gameplay feels smooth and simple with very intentional interactions with the world that elevate the experience. The levels are incredibly unique while still being intertwined with appropriate game mechanics, which also reflect the protagonist's journey very aptly. The art style, the environmental design, music, everything is absolutely top notch. The ending hits like a truck and will make you tear up. 100%ing the game feels worthwhile with the puzzles being quite intuitive to solve, and yet some collectibles can be quite well hidden. Took about 6 hrs for the base run, and 8 hrs total for all the achievements, and it was well worth the money spent. Easiest 10/10, highly recommend it.

Incredible. The visual artstyle is unparalleled, the music - enchanting. Highly recommended. Just as a word of warning - the game is short (good for her) and you'd benefit from playing it all in one sitting. So, if you can, dedicate a day to it.

I remember first seeing GRIS when my brother talked about it. However, his explanation fell short for how much I like this game. I am not a skilled gamer, or someone who can put hours upon hours into a game, so this relatively short and 'easy' game was perfect for me. And we haven't even got to the visuals or music yet! I love games that look good, and with this game (and their studio) every frame is a masterpiece. The music is very emotional and I listen to the soundtrack still. It's a beautiful experience, and I highly recommend people to play it. Something personal that I liked in the game is the lack of 'death', in that your character can never die. This put me at ease to figure out the puzzles and plot, but someone else may think their actions have no consequences. The themes however speak louder than the gameplay, in that you are playing a story, not writing it. That's how it is, you can't change it. This is my comfort game, and it stays beautiful everytime. My thanks to Nomada Studios.

This is an extraordinarily beautiful game - the illustrations are just breathtaking, and, together with the music, inspire. It's just a lovely experience to play. None of it is particularly hard, and there is never any real danger to your character. But its not about that. It's more like experiencing a piece of art or reading an incredibly engaging book. Very recommend.

To enjoy a hauntingly beautiful game that has more subtext and subtlety than a submarine, do enjoy Gris. An audio/visual experience that can be enjoyed in just about 2.5 hours. I'm glad to have played this than have watched a movie that might not have been able to offer the same amount of satisfaction that I derived from this game.

The gameplay is a bit average, but the aesthetics are incredible and the vibes are immaculate. I would recommend for anyone interested in a game to empathize about grief with.

This game is a fantastic telling of bringing emotion back to life after tragedy and loss, Artistic vision a 10/10 beautiful water colored set pieces, and artistic wet dream. A must get for both artists and maybe people who have recently gone through some strife in life <3.

Short, but worth it. I cried at the end. It's a reminder that video games can be art and can elicit just as much emotion and reaction as a song, book, movie, dance or painting.

When Words cant describe whats going on in your world, Gris gives a warm hug to make you feel better. I didn't expect to feel so much in such silence. No enemies, no dialogue- just emotion, art and healing. It reminds us all that its okay to fall apart... and beautiful to rise again.

Really gorgeous art and visuals, I think the team did a wonderful job! It is a lot more slow paced than I thought but the puzzles more than make for it in unique ways, and the abstract theme and sound design really compliment it greatly.

Gris goes beyond being a game—it is an experience. The art style and musical score are absolutely breathtaking. Every animation, transition, and visual metaphor is executed to perfection. At times, I felt the anxiety of making a wrong turn or move, yet the game connects everything so seamlessly that you barely notice—it creates a world that is both harmonious and dreamy. Its visual language speaks to parts of my heart and mirrors feelings I have lost and continue to mourn. It’s rare to find a game that holds space for beauty and sorrow in such a delicate balance.

An absolutely beautiful game in all regards; music, graphics and gameplay. The gameplay in particular is very creative for a platformer and has unique levels, but they aren't so difficult that they detract from the overall enjoyment of the game. I only wish some of the puzzle mechanics (esp. the
ice puzzles in the cave chapter
) were used more, because they're insanely fun to solve, and that there was some sort of clear story happening. It's not immediately clear as to what's going on and why, so I would've like more context, but the wordless gameplay (outside of tutorials) is also vital to the experience, so more environmental cues would be nice. 9/10

Visuals: Excellent. Clean, polished, distinctive. Gameplay: Weak. Puzzles are simplistic and repetitive. Pacing: Overstays its welcome. Theme: Generic metaphor. Tone: Tries to be profound without saying anything new. Overall: A well-made, forgettable art piece 8/10.

What an exceptionally beautiful game, both in terms of the art design and game design. I came back to it for a second playthrough after a few years and found it to still hold up very well . The developers deserve a lot of credit for crafting many engaging puzzles and maps.

Beautiful game and soundtrack. Game can be hard at times to motivate one self to go all the way to the end while mazing through puzzles and routes. But It's worth it in the end for the ending. Story itself can be confusing without any context but its pretty and decent for the price.

Gris isn’t just a game—it’s an emotional journey wrapped in stunning visual poetry and soaring soundscapes. From the very first frame, it establishes itself as a work of art. The hand-drawn watercolor aesthetic is delicate yet expressive, shifting palettes as the protagonist slowly regains the colors of her world. Every detail, from flowing fabrics to collapsing architecture, is meticulously designed to mirror the emotional undertone of each chapter. Complementing this visual symphony is an exquisite score that swells with quiet sorrow, swelling hope, and triumphant discovery. It’s one of those rare cases where music and art don’t just support the story—they are the story. What sets Gris apart is its innovative gameplay that evolves in tandem with the protagonist’s emotional growth. While it maintains a side-scrolling platformer framework, it constantly reinvents itself. One moment you’re light as a feather gliding through shifting winds; the next, you’re turning into stone to brave a storm. Each new mechanic is introduced seamlessly, never cluttering the experience, but rather amplifying it. Simplicity is Gris’ superpower. There's no dialogue, no combat, no failure state—and yet it speaks volumes. Every idea is executed with elegance and restraint, proving that a game doesn't need complexity to be deeply moving. Instead, Gris leans into its minimalist core to deliver maximum emotional impact. In a world crowded with noise and distraction, Gris is a quiet triumph. A visual poem. A musical journey. A small game with grand ideas—and pitch-perfect execution.

GRIS is a beautiful platformer that evokes emotion for those who are ready to receive it. The first time I played GRIS I was going through a really hard time in life, wrestling through grief and depression and frustrated by my circumstances. GRIS hit like a lightning bolt and captured those feelings all without words. If you're ready for catharsis this can help initiate it.

Gris is a simple yet profound game about grief and loss. The animation is gorgeous and the soundtrack is out of this world. It tells an emotional story about coping from loss and learning self-love, all with no dialogues.

GRIS completely swept me off my feet. From the very first moment, I felt like I was walking through a living watercolor painting — the soft, delicate art style blending into every movement, every transition, every silent breath the game takes. The way the world slowly gains color as you progress isn’t just a clever mechanic, it feels emotional, like watching grief gently evolve into healing. Every scene is hand-crafted with such care, it’s like the game is whispering a story without needing words. And that music? The background score is so haunting and ethereal, it made me pause and just *listen* more times than I can count. What I loved most about *Gris* was how it managed to feel both vast and intimate at the same time. It’s a simple platformer on the surface, but underneath, it’s layered with metaphor and emotion — a quiet exploration of sorrow, resilience, and rediscovery. I didn’t expect to *feel* so much from a game with no dialogue, yet here I am still thinking about that final sequence. The pacing, the transitions, the seamless way visuals and audio melt into each other — it’s genuinely one of the most beautiful and emotionally resonant games I’ve ever played. If you are planning to buy it , please buy it will change you.

One of the most beautiful platformer games I have ever played. I don't generally like platformer games but I hesitantly give this game a try and from the very beginning fell in love with how visually stunning, soothing and artistic this game was. For a guy who doesn't ever bother much about music or soundtracks in videogames, it was such a pleasure to the ears throughout the gameplay that I had listening to the beautiful classical ambient music this game had to offer. Talking about the art and atmosphere, you can really tell that people who crafted it with utmost love and care while designing beautiful landscapes with a very distinct color palette and while simple yet such beautiful, right from landscapes to the cute little creatures you see and meet around different areas to the different environments with different weathers and everything, it's was all just so perfect. As for the plot, it's a story in my personal opinion about how a girl who deals with loss of her beautiful voice accepts her grief and moves on with her journey to find her voice yet again with solving and overcoming obstacles in her life. A simple yet a beautifully described tale in the game with some great cinematics and visuals. As for the gameplay, being a KBM guy and not much of a controller guy even though I think these types of games are more suited to controllers, this game was a one-handed affair which was just much laid-back and relaxing at all times with easy controls, great puzzle-solving and great platforming. At last, I would just say it's a simple yet very beautiful game which I would wholeheartedly recommend to anyone who not only wants a good laid-back and relaxing time but also wants to support the Indie developers who put their heart and soul while creating these kinds of beautiful experiences for gamers.
A Symphony of Color and Emotion
Released in 2018, the game still has stunning looks and incredible music. They tell a story that feels personal but also speaks to everyone, all without any talking. The jumping and puzzles are not too hard, which lets you focus on the game's beautiful art and deep meaning. It's a game that speaks directly to the soul, inviting players to reflect on universal themes of grief, hope, and resilience through its powerful artistic expression. Gris is more than a game; it's an interactive painting that leaves you with beauty and hope. A must-play! Gris is a profoundly moving and visually breathtaking indie game that masterfully explores the complex emotional journey of grief through its art, colour, and gameplay. Developed by Nomada Studio, Gris presents a decent platformer experience where players accompany the protagonist, Gris, as she navigates a world drained of color and life, symbolizing her emotional numbness and sorrow. The game’s narrative is deeply intertwined with the five stages of grief: Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Sadness and Acceptance. Each stage is represented by a distinct colour palette that gradually returns vibrancy to the world as Gris progresses. The initial level, Denial, is depicted in grey tones, evoking a sense of emptiness and disbelief. This transitions into the fiery reds of Anger, the hopeful greens of Bargaining, the melancholic blues of Sadness and finally the warm, luminous yellows of Acceptance. This thoughtful use of colour is not merely aesthetic but symbolic, reflecting the Gris's internal emotional state and growth. For example, the blue water level representing Depression immerses players in a somber, fluid environment that captures the heaviness of that stage, while the yellow hues of Acceptance radiate hope and healing, signaling Gris’s emotional reconciliation. The hand-drawn water-colour art style, enhances the game’s emotional impact. The delicate, flowing lines and soft colours bleed into one another like paint on paper, creating a dreamlike atmosphere that invites reflection and empathy. Gris’s cloak, which moves elegantly as she jumps, flies, and sings, adds a layer of poetic grace to her journey, symbolizing her fragility and resilience. Music also plays a crucial role in conveying grief’s nuances. The haunting, beautiful soundtrack complements the visuals perfectly, deepening the mood and emotional resonance. Notably, Gris’s regained ability to sing towards the end symbolizes her healing and the reawakening of her voice and spirit, culminating in a powerful, almost spiritual moment where she connects with the night sky and stars. Gris is more than a game about loss; it is an immersive experience that captures grief’s messy, non-linear nature. It shows that grief is not just a series of stages but a complex, often confusing blend of emotions and coping mechanisms. The gameplay mechanics associated with each stage become tools for navigating the world, metaphorically representing how we use our experiences and emotions to move forward. Ultimately, Gris offers a universal story of healing and acceptance without uttering a single word. It invites players to witness and share in the Gris's pain and recovery through stunning visuals, evocative colours, graceful animation and a fantastic soundtrack. Playing Gris is like stepping into a moving painting that speaks directly to the soul, making it one of the most beautiful and emotionally impactful games of recent times. Overall, Gris is an extraordinary artistic achievement that transforms the abstract and deeply personal experience of grief into a vivid journey of colour, emotion and hope. It reminds us that through the darkest moments, there is the possibility of renewal and that even in sorrow, beauty can be found.

This game is a beautiful and relaxing piece of art. The water color painted environments and calming musics take you on a platforming journey through a world of wonders to discover the character's emotions. Truly a one of a kind artistic experience that I highly recommend. Some may say that the game lacks action, however I think it is better that way as the lack of ennemies is an invitation to focus on your surroundings and enjoy the beauty of this game. This game is fairly short lived, it took me just under 8 hours to beat it and then complete all the achievements. It may not seem much compared to the full price but, in this case, I think it's still worth it as it is evident a ton of work and love went into making this game. If it does bother you though, you can always wait for the sales during which you can get a huge discount for this game. When you're done playing through the game for the first time, you can then start looking for memories to slightly deepen your understanding of the story. I'll say it again but this game is an art piece, more than a game it is an experience, do not hesitate to give it a try.

I played GRIS recently and... wow. It’s hard to put into words how much it made me feel. From the very first scene, I could tell it wasn’t just a game—it was something deeper. The visuals are gorgeous, like actual moving art, and the way the colors slowly come back as you go... that alone made me emotional. There’s no dialogue, no text telling you what’s going on, but somehow you understand everything. It’s about pain, loss, healing... and even without words, it hit so hard. I didn’t expect to feel so connected to a character that never even speaks. The gameplay isn’t super challenging, but I liked that. It gave me space to just feel everything. The music, the atmosphere, the movement—it all flows together perfectly. It’s a short game, but honestly, it stayed with me way longer after I finished it. If you ever want to play something beautiful, quiet, and meaningful... play gris.

One of the prettiest games I've ever played in my entire life. Audio and visual design is immaculate and breathtaking. Accessible to anyone and everyone, since it is relatively easy. Look if you're someone who likes good visuals play it. Someone who likes easy platformers? Play it. Someone who enjoys good music and sound design? Play it. Lastly if you are a creative, artist, or generally anyone who likes making things, it will be a huge inspiration. Breathtaking 9.5/10. Only thing I will say is maybe grab it on sale when its 20-40% off. It is a bit pricey for how short it is but still a masterpiece, so do support the artists.

I never thought games could look and feel like moving painting to such a high point. And huge props for the lvl design and platforming mechanisms. I wasnt expecting it to be so good narratively AND also deliver such high moments of platforming. And the way Gris (the main character) feels to control, with her floaty jumps and excellent movement flow is so SO good and satisfying. 10/10 wish it was 10 times lengthier

You need to trust the quiet and "boring" game-play at the beginning. Not only does it get more challenging and visually stunning but the sombre start is crucial for the message and story behind it. Playing it was relaxing and intriguing with all the puzzles involved. Super fun trying to get all the achievements and absolutely ethereal art and music; the people involved in making this should be extremely proud of themselves.
