I played this a lot a long time ago,,, around 2017 maybe? It was really fun then! I don't recognize it anymore. It feels like a completely different game now... and not one I enjoy. Really sad, it used to be so fun.

A piece of garbage. Waste of time. Last Epoch, Grim Dawn, PoE will treat you a lot better than this game will. Item balance is garbage. Most classes don't have viable builds and Inferno is financially-locked due to market's garbage pricing. There's so much wrong with this game but I will distill it into three main points: - Magic and gold find ruin this game. Cheaters exploited the number scaling in the past and as a result EVERYBODY has to deal to with MMO levels of garbage drop rates. - Amun-Ra And Gabriel prevent you from enjoying the endgame and unless you are willing to sell your firstborn or your kidneys to afford to fight them -- and potentially piss away millions of gold by dying -- you are stuck in a pay to win hellscape. - A solid potential game ruined by baffling balance decisions. Sung Lee sucks ass. Rework him. Again, the drop rates. Grim Dawn tackled this so much better by having REAL target farms that you could succeed at. Nothing should ever justify a 9/2000000 drop rate, ever. Statistically it kinda pans out for games that have tens of thousands of daily players. This game barely ever eclipses six digits. At that point Angelics are basically unicorns. Gabriel and Amun-Ra to unlock Inferno? Where all the gold is at, while also costing millions? Your ability to play at the highest levels of difficulty shouldn't be dictated by market forces. To be very clear here, I don't care that Amun-Ra and Gabriel are "hard". The main thing I want to emphasize that they WERE the endgame before inferno released. As such their items were priced accordingly. Now they are the first "Endgame" before the ENDGAME which is slaving away at Inferno for Angelics. Instead of getting Angelics to fight superbosses you need to fight superbosses to... get Angelics?? Lastly, class balance. Not every class is able to clear superbosses without angelics or heroics. This is such a key point ESPECIALLY given that Angelics are astronomically expensive until you get to Inferno... which is locked by the superbosses they're meant to kill. And to some extent this is also true for many of the high tier Heroics you need to clear the superbosses. This is not good design. An idea of what the flow should be regarding loot-boss progression chain: Satanics (levelling-early Hell) -----> Target farms (mid to late Hell) -----> Heroics (late Hell/Hell 5 Uber bosses) -----> Angelics (Inferno farming) -----> Inferno Uber bosses. NEITHER Satanic or Heroic gear should be locked behind Inferno. I acknowledge this game's history as a GameJam classic. That doesn't mean it is not mediocre or just bad in general.

This game is like an abusive spouse. You love it because it has something no one else has. But then it fucking beats you and abuses you with disconnects, bugs, market manipulation, retarded itemisation, mentally unstable devs who abuse people randomly on discord and general unpolish you'd want from a game you love. And yet I keep playing it. Fucking feelings.

Pretty good ARPG, if you are bored with the current season of whatever you usually play. I wouldn't straight out recommend it to anyone, but most ARPG players would probably like it. Grab it on a sale! Pros available group self-found, solo self-found(odyssey) and HC modes Kinda deep character development system Decent endgame activities and lots of bosses Actively developed and offers seasonal content Cons Buggy, especially on season starts Lot of content behind paid DLCs uses Easy Anti Cheat Graphics isn't for everyone

I re-installed the game today to play with a friend and discovered that literally everything had changed about this game. It is now such an obvious and greedy attempt to grab cash at every single opportunity, and the gameplay has seriously suffered as a result. Do not recommend.

Atm, this is one if not close to the best ARPG to play. POE 1 has been a let down lately. POE 2 and Diablo 4 no thank you. and Torchlight Inf. has potential but the monetization hurts the game more than it help. In Hero siege the game hits all the check points. endgame bossing some crafting and alot of thing that remind me of D2. and when the game goes on sale you can pick up the full game and most of the classes for cheap i think it was like 20 to 30 bucks. if anyone is tired of the bs with the other arpg's i would highly recommend.

I wasn't sure what everyone was talking about until I seen it today. I bought the extra inventory & stash space DLC before and didn't think anything of it. However, I was still limited on space, so I went to purchase another inventory tab in the game. I was thinking it would take in game gold or something, nope, it's real life gold. They want $5 USD PER inventory tab, $5 PER stash tab, $5 PER character slot, etc. Are you out of your minds?! No way. This game is fun, but it's not that fun. Who do you think you are to be so driven by greed. I don't mind spending money and that's not a problem, but I'll be ****** if I support greedy developers. I hope this game burns and you greedy devs get what you deserve.

Bought this game like 12yrs ago when it was a Roguelite (Roguelike?). Nowadays, base game costs $7.99; base game + all DLC costs $101; extra stash tabs cost $4.99. I've never looked at cosmetics, but I'm going to assume they're also stupidly overpriced. Thumbs down for obvious dev greed and delusional thoughts that their full price tag of a decade old game is more than a brand new title. I can buy Expedition 33 and PoE2 for less than this over-monetized crap

I normally don't write reviews but this one is just too much. Bought a unique stash tab and it doesn't work. In addition, it dumps your uniques and set items into regular stashes upon relog. If there is no space, the game just deletes them. According to the discord, quite a few people have this issue. The devs cannot reproduce this error, and I just think it was not tested at all. And since today, after the patch, after loading Easy Anti Cheat upon start-up, the game just straight up crashes every time, even after reboots. I am trying to play the vanilla game, I did not mess with files or anything. Unplayable and deletes items. Can not recommend.

The game is really good, and I recommend the base game and Valhalla expansion highly. However, the reason for the hate on this game is the really high cost of the additional class and skin dlc they have. I think if they looked at that, particularly for the classes - perhaps through changes to prices or perhaps a neat package then it would bring back some of the ill will the general community has. There is a bundle for 20% off that includes all the classes, but its just still far too expensive when you compare it to the base game.

I don't know what happened since last I played, but now it's infested with micro transactions, went from a simple rogue-lite to Diablo, and doesn't even have it's tutorial area working (empty instructions and empty chests).

Bought the complete edition. While it says nothing about getting new heroes as they are released, it is still called "complete" which would give an implication of getting the new heroes if they ever make new ones. Similar to the Smite God pack that you could purchase, it gave you access to all current gods and all future gods they released. That is not the case with the complete edition of Hero Siege. Season 7 was released with a new hero that you must purchase if you want to play as that hero. While I find the game is fun and enjoyable, I also have spent money expanding stash space and inventory space to make it more enjoyable. I don't feel like I should continue to have to purchase heroes if I have the edition though.

Ah, Hero Siege — the gift that keeps on taking. Bugs, crashes, and balance issues? You bet. Updates that feel like they were coded in the dark by a raccoon with a grudge? Absolutely. Customer support? Somewhere between a ghost and a black hole. This game is a masterclass in how not to run a live service. Panic Art Studios has proven time and time again that community feedback is just background noise to them — like elevator music they can't be bothered to turn off. People have been screaming about the same problems for years, and the response has been a shrug and another $5 DLC. Multiplayer? If you enjoy laggy, unplayable chaos with a side of desync and crashes, you’re in for a treat. Want to play with friends? Only if you're into shared suffering. Builds? Good luck — balance is more of a rumor here than a feature. Honestly, at this point, Panic Art should either hire a team that knows what they’re doing or just unplug the server and let this thing go gently into the digital graveyard. But no, instead we get shiny cosmetics duct-taped to a burning ship. Avoid this trainwreck. There are free games out there with more polish, more respect for players, and more actual fun. Buying Hero Siege today is like ordering fast food from a restaurant that burned down three years ago — and still being charged full price.

The game has a lot of potential, but it is held back by ridiculously punishing mechanics mostly related to reaching the game's final difficulty mode of inferno. You need to fight two bosses that require many, many hours of farming to craft keys. The key is consumed when you enter the boss room, win or not. Now these fights have instant kill mechanics, so expect to die if you go in blind... resulting in a week of farming lost. Let's say you know the fight inside out, there are still things that can result in your loss. Like one part of a fight requires you to stand in a safe spot while lightning comes crashing down around it, you have a second or two move. One part of the fight requires you to enter a portal to kill a mini boss and then hop back out of the portal after you kill the mini boss. Upon exiting the portal the lightning was already falling down with zero chance to react. Instantly a week of farming gone. Another time I had the boss down to the final phase and the damn anti cheat decided it didn't like some program running (probably my virus scanner) and it closed the game. Also resulting in another week of wasted farming. To be clear, I have beaten the boss twice and I felt unfairly punished twice. Also these gate keeper bosses have loot that is desirable and you probably won't get the one you want on your first kill... The crafted key shouldn't be consumed and let you access the boss as many times as you want especially since there is a loot table and even if you get the drop you want, there is always low rolls on gear... Requiring a week of farming for EVERY time you want to fight these bosses really killed my enthusiasm for the game and thus I cannot recommend it.

Great game, but season launch was completely terrible, set time aside from busy life to play and the server is not stable. Devs said they'd fix this last season, then did nothing all season about it, pushed out anti cheat without testing it before the new season, and now its same problems.

Hero Siege is a great and very cheap little ARPG. Character classes are ridiculously cheap for how much content they provide and the community is VERY helpful. Need help with a build? You got it. Need help being power leveled through the difficulties and to max level? You got it. People will even give you starter gear they dont use anymore. This game is sure to entertain you for hundreds of hours.

Used to be a great game, but then the devs got greedy, and turned the game into a DLC-Simulator. A total of 171,61€ (a little less if we minus the skin DLCs) paywall for the additional content & extra characters. Almost feels like some of them typical Gatcha games from the East. Hence, buying just the "standard edition" for 7,79€ is also a waste of money at this point, and just pointless in general. Just save your wallet, and move on.

Hero Siege is a fast-paced, action-packed hack-and-slash roguelike that blends elements of classic dungeon crawlers, RPG progression, and intense bullet-hell combat into one chaotic yet addictive experience. Developed by Panic Art Studios, the game throws players into a dark, demonic fantasy world where hordes of enemies descend in endless waves, and survival depends on twitch reflexes, sharp builds, and relentless grinding. What makes Hero Siege stand out is its fusion of genres—it’s part Diablo-style ARPG, part roguelike, and part twin-stick shooter, all wrapped in a colorful pixel art style that belies its punishing difficulty and deep gameplay systems. At the core of Hero Siege is a vast array of playable characters, each with their own skill trees, mechanics, and combat styles. From melee-focused berserkers to long-range spellcasters and summoners, the roster is impressively diverse, offering a unique experience with each class. The character progression is deep, allowing players to unlock and upgrade abilities, equip gear with randomized stats, and refine their builds for specific challenges or playstyles. As players advance, they collect loot—ranging from weapons and armor to powerful relics—that drastically change how a run plays out. The game leans heavily on RNG, meaning no two runs are quite the same, and high-tier loot can turn even modest characters into screen-clearing machines. Hero Siege shines brightest in its multiplayer mode, where up to four players can band together to take on the legions of hell. Playing cooperatively not only increases the challenge but also the rewards, with scaled enemy difficulty, shared loot, and synergistic builds creating a highly replayable experience. That said, solo play is also well-supported, with difficulty scaling and progression systems that make it possible to enjoy the game alone, though some bosses and later areas can feel overwhelming without teamwork. The inclusion of seasonal ladders and online leaderboards gives competitive players extra incentive to keep pushing, experimenting, and optimizing their characters. The world of Hero Siege is segmented into acts, each with its own biomes, enemies, and bosses. Level design is procedurally generated, ensuring that each session offers fresh layouts and surprises. Despite its 16-bit art style, the game’s visual design is sharp and chaotic, with colorful spell effects, grotesque enemy designs, and massive boss encounters that fill the screen with danger. The soundtrack leans into dark fantasy themes, with pulsing combat tracks and ominous ambient sounds that effectively complement the constant action. However, Hero Siege isn’t without its flaws. The reliance on grinding can become repetitive, especially in the later stages of progression where players may need to replay content extensively to obtain specific gear. The RNG-heavy loot system can be both a blessing and a curse—rewarding when lucky, frustrating when not. Additionally, the game has seen its share of bugs and performance issues over the years, though the developers have been fairly active in patching and updating the experience, especially for the PC version. Some players also note that the mobile and console ports feel less polished or are missing features available on PC. Despite its imperfections, Hero Siege remains a compelling choice for fans of action RPGs and roguelikes who crave chaotic, fast-paced gameplay with a heavy dose of character customization. It’s especially rewarding for players who enjoy diving into stat screens, planning builds, and watching their power scale with every run. The sheer volume of content—spanning dozens of classes, hundreds of items, multiple game modes, and difficulty tiers—makes for a game that can easily consume dozens (or hundreds) of hours. Whether played solo or with friends, Hero Siege delivers a frantic, loot-driven adventure that’s as unforgiving as it is entertaining. For those willing to embrace the grind, it’s a demon-slaying thrill ride packed with pixelated carnage. Rating: 7/10

Hero Siege is one of the most enjoyable Action-RPGs on the market. Don't pay attention to the spam of bad reviews, it is full of players who played the game for 0.1 hours, didn't understand it, or just didnt vibe with it which is fair. If you enjoyed Diablo/PoE/Last Epoch or those styles of games, you will enjoy progressing through this and building a strong character. The devs have a small team, only so much they can do, every season usually some new interesting things. There are some minor things I have issues with about the game, but none of that will stop me from appreciating how good the game really is. Don't let bad reviews make your decision for you, game is cheap enough to give it a try on your own.

Oh god, i still remember the OG Hero Siege, such a nice and entertaining game. Classes, synergy, enough RNG and challenging. At some point it started to change, always for worse, in all aspects. Worse performance, graphics, and specially, gameplay. 95% of my hours are from the 2 first years of release. I installed it few days ago just to see what's going on and its a big no everywhere. Insane amount of DLCs too. Sorry but can't recommend anymore

I did not played the game 10 years, and i did not liked it back then. I tried it before season 7, the game is clunky, unpolished even in tutorial, i would expect the first few hours of the game to be perfect after 10 years of development. Season 7 somehow made it worse and can't even turn on the game

After just over 30 hours (easily might I add) with hero siege and I can tell you I have not even scratched the surface! I'm as excited over the thought of my many future rendevous with this game and how replayable it is/has been/will be - like the days of my all time favorites from back in the day: Diablo 2 (and LOD dlc) and CS 1.6 which were my staples for 5 plus years. Anyways, you cant go wrong with this title if you like/liked Diablo 2/3 or 4. This is a bread and butter, continually improved, master piece for the ARPG rhythmic genre of gaming. Easily can sink hundreds of hours just to get all charactars a chance at some face time with you. Love it and can't wait to get back in... now!

If you ever been in search of a game that keeps you entertained, just providing hours of fun and enjoyment, well this is definitely not that game. With each update it becomes less and less accessible and more and more geared toward taking just as much money from you to enjoy every little feature. I honestly regret ever having spent any money on this, having played any part in offering this developer any profits as they are entirely undeserved. When I initially got it, it felt enjoyable and I could get into it, but the game has slowly but surely been distilled into an unplayable snoozefest just overburdened with micro-transactions. Visually, it is quite nice to look at. It does offer quite a lot of classes, but you'll be spending money to unlock each individual class and then slog through a horrendous grind, level 1 is going to take several kills to get to, and you will likely die a few times before reaching it. It features gear drops that almost never benefit you. I see that loot boxes have been added, just horrendous. You aren't finding a memorable or fun experience with this game that has steadily leaned towards driving as much profit out of as little effort as possible. Give this a pass, it is not worth your money, your time, or your effort when there are better titles available elsewhere.

I haven't played long but I can see a lot of what other reviewers are talking about with the classes and the DLCs. There were a lot of them, and many of them sound cool but the over paywall is not worth it to me. It plays like a cool, dark Diablo game. I found it exciting while playing but wasn't exactly hitting my itch.

Game itself is enjoyable, but there is a huge lack of optimalisation, even 9th gen i7 and rtx 2060 is not capable of handling this game when there are several players using their normal character abilities. When You are playing in a team of 3+ there is huge colorful mess of skills on screen and makes it nearly unreadable. Bosses bugs when You are entering them in team of 3+ players. Lot of grinding to unlock most difficult level and a simple boss bug can roll You back to the begining, also the staff is not able to help You anyway. I have about 180 hours in total, 50 hours current season. All i can say, this game still needs developing but it have potential.

Its a pretty funny hack and slash game and even with the changes they made it's still quite the good game. If it werent for the technical issues and customer support. I've started playing again a few months back and everything was fine until out of nowhere the game started crashing constantly about 2 mins into playing resetting all my progress to my previous level. Some weird object not found error which to my knowledge has been around for years and never got fixed. Couldnt find a solution online reinstall and verifying of my files didnt work and the support didnt even answer my inquiry. So just be aware that in case you do stumble over a game breaking bug you are pretty much on your own since couldnt even get any help from the community
