I don't normally complain about game pricing--I'd happily pay $50 for an amazing 5-hour experience vs. paying $20 for a 100-hour slog. But I have to complain about CyberTD. This is an extremely feature-starved game priced at $20--basically a game-jam game with a thin coat of paint and very little imagination. Just so you are clear before you buy: - There is only one "tower" and you can barely control where you place it - The tower has fixed weapons that do not change throughout the round, which can last 20-30 minutes - There are no gameplay features on any of the maps--just a single random enemy path - The ONLY control you have as a player is to select your deck and weapons at the beginning of the run and select 1 upgrade card every time you level up (most of these are just +10% stat boosts, with very few having any mechanical effect) - There are no card selection mechanics like rerolling/banishing/freezing etc. - The writing and voice acting is there to add faux production value but contributes little - Interface is clunky, un-intuitive, and pretty bad even for a mobile title - Very few enemy types with at most 5 or 6 total mechanics that have almost no effect on gameplay - After a few hours, you realize cards that increase damage by X% are multiplicative (i.e. compound on each other) and enemy health also seems to scale multiplicatively. In practice, this means you'll pick the +damage card 90% of the time and you auto-win, up until the cap where you get out-scaled by enemies and need to grind more levels for better cards. Rinse and repeat. Overall: Just play Heretic's Fork instead. It is ALSO a TD deck-builder with one tower, but is priced at $10 and has interesting decisions to make (and a killer metal soundtrack)

Don't believe the good reviews. Note that most of them have only reviewed this game. This games stinks. It's not fun and barely qualifies as a tower defense. Huge let down. Pros: Graphics aren't bad Cons: Single tower with no placement ability No strategy. Just pick a card and go. Terrible menu and options. Terrible voice acting and the script is just annoying, not helpful. There's no point. Either you win or you lose and there really isn't much you can do about it. Mostly, you're at the mercy of what random path is selected. Get a long one that's in your gun's range, you win. Get one where you have almost no time, you lose. Path isn't shown before you select your cards either. Overall, I actively dislike this game and wish I hadn't wasted my time purchasing it as part of a bundle. I won't be wasting any more time playing it.

Normally I enjoy a passive TD, but there isn't enough to this game to warrant any interest. I understand the grind, but it just doesn't seem like it'll get any better as I keep playing. Plus it's obviously not made for PC

TLDR: Bugs and serious, seemingly intentional, damage calc and balancing issues. A shame, because some ideas are good, but once you see the problems it's fairly aggravating. It took me a while to realise, but there's something odd up with the damage calculation. For example later in the campaign you hardly see a difference in difficulty between having about 150 dps on your weapons vs having 15 000. It takes just about the same amount of time to kill viruses. I think the useful damage is capped. Which means this TD need some serious work. There are other little bugs. For instance the paralysing cannon upgrade doesn't seem to do anything. You'll see it actually stunning a virus.. maybe 3-5 times in a playthrough. But then - When you consider how OP it would be it shouldn't even exist as an upgrade. There seems to be a silent little cool down after the end of abilities like slow and paralyse too - You have to count to 5 or something after the debuff ended to be able to use them again, which is uncool. And also, the blaster splash damage upgrade is never presented for selection if you have it in your deck, even though it's a common upgrade. I'd post such things on a forum or the community page, or via email to the dev, but I couldn't find anywhere to do so.

The demo is great, but the full version is a disappointment. Couple of frustrating brickwalls are placed, purely because devs had no better ideas how to spice later levels. And you won't find any ingame info what the weaknesses of these brickwalls are. I had to ask in Discord, Seems the team gave up the game shortly after the release and focused on new titles. For a long time your only true option is to stick with the first weapon you get, because other weapons are unlocked late and their strong upgrades even later. And yet the first weapon is by far the strongest one. Annoying, unskippable, non-sense story on each new game.

Clockwork Origins has got some decent experience making deep and complex TD games with a twist and if you played any of the Elemental Wars games and enjoyed them then this will feel familiar yet refreshingly different. This mixes up deck building with TD to create something that feels really unique brings a completely fresh take on the genre to the table. You have a single tower and can level up various stats after each round by picking a random card from your deck. After you fail a round the game collects all your points to level you up. At each level you unlock new progressions such as more cards, more weapons or perks. You go back to your hub. Modify your tower. Build your deck. Then get back out and try to get further. At first you can barely get through three rounds but steadily that progression improves as you unlock more stuff. The game becomes this balance between building the perfect deck to try and increase the chances of being able to pick a powerful card during the game as well as building out the perfect tower to take advantage of those cards. It's a slow burn at first as the game introduces you gently to it's mechanics by after an hour of play when you have levelled up and gathered enough cards you suddenly find yourself progressing much further and things can become fairly frantic. It also runs flawlessly on the deck right out of the gate. I disabled the touch pad because it goes ballistic but aside from that its the perfect game for handheld play. Each round can be fairly quick (at first but as you get better they get longer) and after every round when you have unlocked a new card or toy you get that urge to get right back into the action and play another round. You then get weekly challenges and modifiers to add even more variety. If you are a fan of TD games or deck builders then this is absolutely worth a look especially if you have a Steam Deck (there is a Nintendo Switch version as well). I've found myself repeatedly picking up the deck for a quick round and then suddenly its five rounds later and i'm still going Also the developers the have clearly put in a lot of work to refining and polishing the game-play and balance as well as making sure both mouse and keyboard as well as controller support is cleanly implemented as was the case with Elemental War 2

Legit having desync issues all the time, the randomness gets worse and artifically slows the game down each time you hit a milestone you feel weaker over time instead of stronger

A bit repetitive at first but you quickly unlock new cards and abilities. Pretty cool that you don't have to pay for any cards, it's all tied into the leveling system. Looking forward to see what kinda bosses come next.

There is a simple yet extremely addicting progression loop which drives the game for me. It makes you go "just one more round" to see what new and powerful upgrades you can put in your deck for the next run. Players who enjoy roguelite aspects like this should definitely give this game a try.

This game is really addictive! I tried this game, because I am a fan of the tower defense genre. The blend of deck building mechanics and tower defense is just right. Also whenever I had a question or didn't understand a game mechanic, there is always an explanation from the ingame helper or a key indicator to try it out yourself. CyberTD runs perfectly smooth on my M1 Macbook Pro, so MacOS is no issue at all! See you in a few days.

Honest opinion? It´s extremely Basic - even aside from the fact we learn up front, that we only got 1 Tower and can´t rly influence the Maze. Every single gun pretty much does and feels exactly the same, you get your few "epic" upgrades and a decent range and everything else goes into rough Dmg and a lil bit speed what makes up prolly 80% of your upgrade picks, atleast if you wanna get somewhere. Even for someone like me that doesn´t mind grinding at all and loves to hunt for Meta Progression, It literally has nothing more to offer but hunting for meta progress, Every single run will feel exactly the same like the one before, no matter the Weapon/Ability. I rly wanted to like the Game but ended up "playing" 80% of my Playtime on the second screen brain afk. I played alot of free flash Games back in the Day that had more depth and more to offer.

Are you tired of regular tower defense games? Fed up with the hassle of building and maintaining too many towers one by one while hordes of enemies start nibbling down your hard work? Tired of playing the game like an overworked and stressed out construction worker? It doesn't have to be that way! Instead be the laid-back boss of one powerful tower, pick the best upgrades from your evolving deck and enjoy the "helpful" advice of your lovely, dorky, confused, snarky companion drone. I've been playing it on the steam deck so far. Some fonts are a bit tiny, but the controls and everything else works well. I like the music and the humor. The deck-building was more fun than expected. If you're not sure if this is for you, play the demo.

Spent some time playing the demo when it came out a while back. It's pretty fun TD game with some interesting quirks. The Good: - Graphics are nice - I like the process of customizing your tower/deck - Good voice work - Campy Indie game, has charm The Bad: - $20 is pretty steep I think, but I like TD games so it's not an issue for me - Voice over work is good, but the audio mixing itself is poor which makes it hard to hear the little helper bot - UI is a little clunky & it's hard to tell what cards you have in your deck in the deck-building interface For those interested, definitely wish-list and snag on sale or give the demo a rip to see if you'll enjoy it.

It's a great mix between a 'Slay the Spire' type deck building game and tower defense. Highly addictive. Be aware that you can't build towers. You only got one mean killing machine that you have to upgrade after each wave. I like.

Really like the game! Haven't seen the combination of tower-defense & deckbuillding game yet and can't wait to get into the deckbuilding aspect more. With 5 weapon slots to unlock the game promises great strategic depth and is challenging enough that I feel this depth will get rewarded. I played the devs previous game "Elemental War 2" quite a bit and love to see them taking this in a new direction. Recommended!

Deckbuilding❓-> ✅ Towerdefense❓-> ✅ Einfach eine super Kombination und genau mein Jam, ich habs einfach mal runtergeladen und direkt 4 Stunden hängen geblieben. Bei mir der einzige Kritikpunkt: Ich bin recht viel mit einem schwachen Laptop (ok, der hat auch keine dedizierte Grafikkarte) unterwegs, da habe ich in den Cutscenes etwas fps Probleme, ingame gehts dann aber wieder. (Und Zuhause auf dem stationären PC läufts eh flüssig) 😁

in its current state it is by far the worst towerdefense i have played. the hud and menu are huge, useless buttons. there is no information about enemies, how fast they are, how much hp they have etc. basically i understand the genre TD as strategic, unfortunately it is turned into pure luck by the "card drawing". after i managed the first boss on level 2, i had no chance against the same enemy on level 5 and 6, because i only found bad upgrades. the influence of the upgrades can only be seen when you have played the round with the new upgrade. a dropdown shows the values of the tower, but is closed as soon as you select an upgrade and during the fight it is not visible. the balancing of the upgrades is very bad. the rare upgrades are mostly worse than the common ones. in 30 minutes of play, i only had one round with an epic upgrade, which is way too strong compared to the others. I like the sound, the setting and the story, but unfortunately the game is just not good at the moment.

I went into this game knowing there would only be ONE TOWER to manage. The biggest problem is there is no customization in the single tower in the beginning to make you feel like you are making a difference during each wave. If there is only one tower which is not typical for tower defense games, I expected customization. The game looked cool in the trailers but a single tower for this genre doesn't work for tower defense games...

The game can be a bit RNG heavy but overall it's pretty fun. It feels satisfying to see the enemy units disintegrate. There's a few abilities and weapons that seem to change how the battle goes so looking forward to try them out.
