It has great sounds and physics. The horn sounds like the existing trains it was already included for Peninsula Corridor. The stock are well detailed between the locomotives and the passenger cars. I kind of wish the headlights would be off on the MP36 so I can set lights according to what direction I'm going. Also, it would be nice if the marker lights were on either cab from start and so as the HEP. Overall I do recommend this add-on if you like American trains or you enjoy driving in Peninsula Corridor. I have a few YouTube videos of this add on I may list. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nz6KWvemZX4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Un9NF7HHQNk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=avmFDKQFzLU

Not had a ton of time with it so far but its not hard to tell its good. Thank god for more decent American stock in game. Its got decent sounds, physics are on point and the set itself just looks amazing. Easy to see DTG worked hand in hand with Cal Train It beefs up the Peninsula Corridor route (which LIRR lacks) and brings it all to life just a bit more. Whether American stock is your jam or not, i'd recommend this add on

The MP36, cab car, and passenger cars are well detailed and all the buttons, switches, etc work accordingly. A lot of time went into modeling the trains which is great, but the only issues you should be worried about with this DLC is the map itself. If you overshoot a station and have to back up but passed a signal, you won't be able to continue after stopping at the station you accidentally zoomed by. Another issue I had related to the route (not this DLC) was after a 1.5hr session across the map I couldn't finish the service. The last goal was to unload passengers, which I did, but it didn't end. Everyone was off and the doors were open while the train remained stationary at the stop. Again, that's a route issue that I experienced with this DLC. MP36 Pros: -Has star wars cockpit -A lot of buttons to press -Looks cool -Can stand on rear pathway Cons -Super quiet engine from cab perspective, although that is likely true in real life Cab Car Pros -Easy to operate -Can open front door for aerodynamics -Looks beautiful Cons -You can't get up into the car from the front door, unlike the cab car that comes with the route Coaches Pros -Two levels -A lot of seats Cons -Folding seats by doors are not interactive -Cannot access bathroom The Free Roam Services are pretty much the same as with trains already on this route, but it provides more diversity. Summary: Great trains but be prepared for bugs, you might want to get it on sale.

I actually quite like this one , sounds good and attention to detail is good A+++++ My first poor effort as a trainee to the introduction to the MP36PH-3C see below for a quick look. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FvtE7kaW8YM&t=517s https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gdfB663kKTc&t=110s

So far this DLC has been really great. The locomotive and cab car are very well detailed. But there there's two bugs to note. 1. When you start in the cab car, the headlights on the loco will be on. This also happens to any AI locomotive that spawns in the game. The locomotive headlights are on full bright, even when going in reverse. 2. HEP power is not on by default. You might notice the passenger cars are dark until you start the HEP. At least that's realistic but you'd think it'd be on by default. I'm hoping the devs might add the ability to control the doors from the other side of the cab car, or the door control stands throughout the trains. Regardless this was well worth the money!

Amazing loco add-on for the Peninsula Corridor route. This DLC comes with many services to do, scenarios and detailed tutorials. It comes with the MP36PH-3C and Bombardier Bi-Level Cars w/ cab car. Both of these are very well detailed and have good audio. This DLC is a must have if you are a Cal Train fan or just like driving the Peninsula Corridor!

The Trains are good and worth getting. The graphics are excellent and they handle well. There are for sure going to be bugs.. I found one in the first scenario when you have to refuel.. it has you stop a hundred yards away from the pump. Not a big deal after you go the marked location you just have to reverse and go to the pump.. just saying.. first day, so there are going to be bugs. But it is fun to drive and I am enjoying it.

Pros: Very well detailed with animated/moving parts such as brake shoes Audio is on-point as far as engine, brakes, wheels and other sounds, the engine throttle sound when at idle, in any notch or increasing/decreasing power is very smooth, crisp and even has a bit of bass to it. Realistic wheel and brake squeal when applying brakes or going through tight corners Handling of the train (both in the cab car and locomotive) is realistic, braking must be timed properly and efficiently as well as throttle application as it takes quite a few seconds for the amperage to kick up or decrease The horn on the locomotive is the same as the F40 just with a slightly higher pitch and the cab car horn is the same for both trains, the bell on the MP36 is a very nice sounding GW E-bell. Overall this is a very well done DLC with no discovered bugs so far. IMO it's worth the $20 with or without a discount Cons: Wish it was included with the base Peninsula Corridor route... but DTG, like any other company, does need to generate income i suppose. The throttle is VERY sensitive... so be mindful when making power adjustments. I initially departed the station in notch 6 on my first run.... LOL

All achievements done, the most of timetable missions completed. And yes, I do recommend! This loco is a must-have for SFJ route! Everything is just perfect, from model rendition to gameplay, I mean adding the Baby Bullet services (marked 3**) into the timetable. You can fly from SF to SJ in about one hour which is totaly great possibility for drivers who don't like to stop every two minutes. Of course you can use MP36PH for the rest of limited stop or all stop services and you can also use F40PH for Baby Bullet. I really like this kind of gameplay enrichment and must say that SFJ route with this loco and MP15DC became my most favourite. Check out that DLC too! The scenarios are fine and for northbound services you will lead the Bombardier Cab Car which is also very well made and adds another variety to the route. Thumbs up for this!

TLDR: While I enjoy this DLC, I don't think a single trainset alone is worth the $20 price, perhaps wait for a sale. This DLC is rather well done, and serves to uphold the standards of simulation fidelity that we expect from TSW. Both the locomotive and cab-car are well modelled and simulated. The DLC comes with 3 decent scenarios, and is well integrated into the timetable mode. I have a few minor gripes to pick though, and these are very minor: -The throttle handles in both the cab-car and locomotive feel too sensitive, making it slightly annoying to pick a power notch (this is only a minor inconvienience, its easy to get used to though). -The horn on the locomotive feels too late to respond, I prefer horns to feel punchy in that they come on full immidiatly when pressed, however this horn has a half-second delay on it. Also the stupid steam spellcheck doesn't work in these reviews, but that's valves fault.

Perhaps the most exciting and anticipating locomotive add-on in the game. Anyone who has the route or follows DTG absolutely knew they were going to grace us with this amazing set. For once in my life have I didn't have to question whether or not a train sim DLC purchase was worth it. And there you have it. Pros They NAILED the textures on this one in my opinion. Headlights and auxiliary lights are PERFECT Same as the core rolling stock, all of the control functions work accurately (working conductor door controls are excluded in the Bombardier cars) Integrated into timetable mode perfectly - brownie points on how they did that Cons (They're so minor it's almost nitpicking) BRAKES TAKE FOREVER TO RELEASE (It should only take a split second but in the game it takes nearly 10 full seconds) The sounds are VERY good but need some mixing on the MP36 Wish there was control over MP36 LCD screen (At least it automatically displays train assignment) Sometimes difficult to see out of cab car glass at night, mostly in certain spots. Overall this add-on is a dream. However as I said about the core rolling stock it could just use a slight bit of audio mastering and some tweaking to visibility. There would be DOUBLE CHOCOLATE BROWNIE POINTS if they allowed us to mix up the consists just a little bit more in timetable mode (MP36 with gallery cars/F40PH with Baby Bullet cars/Maybe a doubleheader on a trainset). Thanks again DTG. You've really stepped up!

I bought this DLC with reservation, as it was just one loco with no increase in services or route extension at full price plus tax, but I did it anyway because I love American commuter rail. It is an absolutely beautiful train, however it was clearly rushed out. Positives: + The sounds are amazing. Listening with headphones, you can hear the deep diesel hum on the MP36 and the wind smacking the front of the cab car. The horns are nice and the e-bell is a nice touch. + The headlights give an incredibly realistic throw, and you can see the different light output of the halogen headlight and LED ditch lights + Nice braking and acceleration, and the different braking function than the F40PH-2CAT is cool + blinking lights while the doors are closing + highly detailed Bombardier cab car + optional strobes on cab car + Variety adds some life to the route Negatives: - Overpriced for what you get. It's one train you can drive from the loco and cab car, the routes are just shifted over from F40 routes, and for a service called the Baby Bullet, most routes for this train are actually local, limited stop, or empty stock moves and almost none are at night. - Many bugs. Headlights on the rear are sometimes left on, sometimes you can't start the cab car without running back to the cab to mess around with it, ditch lights sometimes no longer flash after a save, turning alerter on and off leaves it on - No manual. If it isn't in the tutorial, you gotta figure it out yourself. - TMS added, but since there's no manual, it's impossible to figure out how to use it, and it probably is bugged anyway. - After we got door controls and door keys in the vestibules in the gallery cars, it seems a step back that we can't use the door panels in the vestibules on the Bombardiers--only the ones in the cab - Sounds don't change volume when you open the window - No way to turn on cabin lights from cab car. you must go to loco to turn on HEP. Overall though, it's a great addition, but better to get it on sale. I hope DT doesn't continue this trend of rushing things out and fixes things in a patch.

I must be doing something wrong but trying this DLC out for the first time. Got underway with no problem but coming to a designated station I started applying the brake from 1.5 miles out and.....nothing happened. Could not stop the train at all and shot through a red light. Is this a bug or do I need to start braking from like 10 miles out or something? Have I mistakenly bought DLC for Supertanker World or something?

Feels just like the real thing - It completes the CalTrain route for me! Only bug I've noticed is that the cab door on the coach end appears to be in the "closed" position when it's open and vice versa.

Looks great, sounds great, drives great. Overall very well done and worth the purchase. I'd say the best North American content released so far.

This add-on adds nice variety to Peninsula Corridor. It adds some more color to the route, and gives a different driving experience to the F40PH-2CAT and Nippon Shayro Gallery cab car. The MP36PH-3C, Bombardier Bi-level cab car, and Bi-level coach cars are high quality. The sounds were recorded from the real train, and the physics feel realistic. Pros: More variety in timetable mode Accurate sounds/physics Different driving experience than existing stock Visually accurate 2 new driving cabs Cons: When spawning in the cab car, the MP36 has it's headlights on HEP and marker lights not on by default MP36 throttle is a rather sensitive which can make it difficult to slowly move through the notches
