This game is great! Don't be fooled by nostalgic fans who like to trash it or those who constantly compare it to other hack-and-slash games from the same era like God of War. This game captures the essence of Castlevania better than the Netflix series.

It feels pretty meh to be honest, not bad but not great either. It's a bit like the original god of war games but not as good, the camera is terrible, the platforming is annoying and the combat is okay at best, but nowhere near as good as something like the orignal God of war, dmc or bayonetta. Also the controls feel kind of weird, I don't like how the block button is the same as the dodge button. Also there is a really annoying boss fight early in the game that is really not fun to fight against. Overall for me it's 6/10 game. I've heard that the game is around 20 hours long which is fairly lengthy for this type of game, probably too long in my opinion, I don't see myself wanting to spend that much time on it.

Really tried to like this one since i'm a huge Castlevania fan (the 2D games anyway). After 5 hours into this game, I can confidently say that it looks pretty good, but its' not actually fun to play. Way too many QTEs for everything, monotonous combat, poorly designed levels (with no map!), and bosses who are damage sponges and have super annoying mechanics. Hate giving up on a Castlevnaia game, but yeah... I don't think it's going to get any better.

It's a cool game, awesome sense of atmosphere in the early levels, but the healing's reliant on a meter that charges by not getting hit, the platforming's imprecise at the best of times, the titans and dracolich fights rip off Shadow of the Colossus (and outstay their welcome,) and the DLC's dumb and stupid and poopy. overall, fuckin' sick. But fuck it's annoying.

I would recommend this game to other players because it has a good story with an even better game play. The battle mechanics is not perfect, but it is fun when you get the hang of it. The story combined with the great game play, and battle mechanics keep you constantly engaged.

This game definitely hasn't aged well. It became a chore to finish. The game play is kinda boring and the platforming is rough due to the fixed cameras and stiff controls. The story is convoluted and the ending makes absolutely no sense at all.

Entertaining so far ... but do not try to play this with mouse & keyboard controls, this would be frustrating beyond imagination as you can't freely aim the camera, its tied to the direction you're walking at - which again is kind of pre-set depending on where you are in a room. Other than that, its a nice mix of fighting and climbing ruins, with occasional puzzles and boss fights in the mix which normally require patience and good timing.

game is basically "what if we made God of War 2 but made it twice as long"
