A short game that lives up to its positive reviews. The story though simple is quite touching (no spoilers here), the NPCs are cute and interesting, there is also a lot to do after endgame if you are up to it. The art-style fits the vibe of the game nicely and the main quest is challenging enough for an afternoon game session. Only downside for me personally was that i got real bad motion sickness while playing it on the standard setting, adjusting the pixel size helped a lot. Kinda funny because normally i don't ever get motion sick while playing games? Anyway if you experience the same issue try changing the pixel size in the game settings and taking regular breaks.

A Short Hike is about exploring the park where you temporarily live, do a small hike to the highest mountain top in the area and meet new characters and participate in side activities. The game looks amazing and colorful, very fitting for the atmosphere and even the world has different terrains which makes it interesting. The sound design and the soundtrack is also nice, the controls for both controller and keyboard are mostly alright. The story doesn't seem anything special at first, however going more into the game we can learn more about the characters who are around and also about the main character and her development throughout the game. Gameplay wise is also straightforward, as you can complete quests for possible rewards, collect feathers which is basically the stamina for the character and reach to the top of the area. These doesn't really sound that interesting, but considering the game is only 5 - 6 hours to beat, it does it's job and pretty fun to go around in this world. But if there is one thing I didn't really like is the boat controls, but luckily it's not necessary to use it. Other than that A Short Hike is a great game and it's pretty good for relaxing and discovering new places. If you like open world games and you don't mind the laid back gameplay, you should definitely give a try to this game, but I believe anyone can enjoy it who is fine with the relaxed pacing. I can definitely recommend to get this game, even for the full price.

Awesome short game, very cute and heartwarming. Remember to talk to npcs before and after you made it to the peak, and after you slept at aunty's room aswell. Their dialogues makes the game feel so real and legit.

"A Short Hike" is a charming little gem that starts with a simple goal, then hands you the tools to find your own way. From delightful side quests to hidden collectibles and surprisingly thoughtful dialogue, this game is an absolute treat for anyone who loves wandering and discovering. It’s the perfect bite-sized adventure for when you just need to chill, explore, and take in the vibes.

A Short Hike isn't... as there's a lot of fun to have here. It's charming and cozy to the max. Play as Claire at a camp with the basic intent to get to the top peak of the mountain. You certainly aren't going to beeline straight there, as you'll need to acquire several Golden Feathers to jump multiple times in the air as well as give you stamina for wall climbing. Along the way you can meet many other kids at the camp, and like Psychonauts they have various fun personalities and dialogue. Be sure to talk to some of them several times, as they will react to you bugging them. ("NO!" "NOOOOO!" "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" "NO MORE!" lol!) While I reached the peak and flew back down to complete the game in 90 minutes, I didn't do much of the side events and I missed meeting several fun people. This is absolutely an "enjoy the journey / it's not about the destination" game so don't rush to the top. The Options menu provides multiple levels of pixelization, from the big & chunky pixels style down to smooth polygons (how I played).

Quite short gameplay wise, about 3h to do a full play through. It's very chilled out though, the characters are charming and sometimes cheeky. One in particular, I did a quest for him and then... wot? There are still some bits to do after the main game has finished. Flying and gliding around the place (you can't fly very high initially), catching fish and doing some races around the island. You can change the level of pixelation in the settings, which is interesting. It was intended to be played on the more pixelated setting, but looks equally good on the smoother settings. This is one to pick up if you just want a chilled out, wholesome game about climbing a mountain, and gliding around the place.

The game itself is pretty solid, collect feathers and bits, explore more, collect more bits, but it's buried underneath this layer of Hope Punk twee garbage writing that makes interacting with it feel vaguely shameful. If you are someone who unironically refers to dogs as hecking puppers or big chungus you'll probably be fine with it but every time someone opened their mouth in game my skin crawled.

I really liked this! Super short but always charming. Getting to the top and then swooping down to explore was always rewarding and fun. My only slight negative is when getting the achievements there is one that requires you do something at specific IRL time of day, and I just find that slightly cumbersome (either I have to play at an hour when I usually don't play, or I have to change my clock settings on computer...neither feels fun)

You go on a SHORT HIKE on a mountain to so that you can receive mobile signal to call someone.... and thats about it. Oh did I forget i mention its one of the coziest and most chill experiences in gaming and the Open world is so small yet feels so big and has soo much things to look out for. YES ITS PEAK and I can see why this game has 99% positive reviews. 100% Recommended

What a shining diamond this game is 😭! A humorous, charming, low-stakes exploration game set in a peaceful, idyllic nature setting. The characters are relatable, memorable and super cute. The writing has no business being this witty and funny. Spend an afternoon or a cozy evening with this beautiful game and having fun is guaranteed(:

A hug in pixel form. You're a little bird called Claire, just trying to get mobile service by hiking to the top of the mountain and along the way you meet characters, glide through the trees, fish, face, find treasures, and just exist. There's not a lot of prompts so its easy to feel lost on what to do, but once you look up a walkthrough its really charming. The music is soothing and its just very cosy. Great for when you feel burnt out, overwhelmed and just need something gentle and nice. This is it!

Very charming 3-hour hiking game, in which the best approach is to get distracted by all the side attractions instead of directly attempting to climb Hawk Peak. It’s a small open world that feels big because I wanted to explore every nook and cranny. This is one of the rare games I would like to replay when I am feeling like a completionist.

Wow, what a great game. A Short Hike is indeed, pretty short. It is a very tightly packed game with a lot of variability sprinkled within the 1-2 hours it could take to beat the game. Even though the game came out in 2019, it still felt like a fresh game. I might even play this again or 100% the game since it is a fairly short journey. If you want a short, heartfelt experience, play this game. It is beautiful, fun, and uh... beautiful.

A game made by one single developer, it was clearly a labor of love. The game is cozy, charming little exploration game. You can complete it in an hour. I highly suggest this for when you're stuck in the airport, or looking for a singular experience for around an hour.

Comfy digital vacation. Although the focus here lies in relaxed exploration, I would've liked to see a little more challenge. I managed the parkour runs and boat challenge (under 45 seconds) on first attempt. Hawk Peak itself was fairly underwhelming, given its harsh reputation boasted by the island's colorful critters. Fantastically cushy tunes and atmosphere throughout the entire hike.

This game is so cozy and so emotional and so good in terms of environmental storytelling, game design of this product reminds me sometimes of Zelda TOTK in some cases. Really really recommend it. I am 24 years old, I am moving out once again literally tomorrow from the city of my friends, and much more far away from my family that is now kinda old, and I am leaving my nest. And this game... really resonated with me. It's really a short game, but how much fun it is, it really gives you an impression that you should enjoy life, experience life and experience nature. I'm glad I played it today. Thank you Adam Robinson-Yo.

It’s a very enjoyable little game and you can explore most of it within about 3 hours. The art style and music give off a very cozy vibe and I just enjoyed playing through the story and exploring what it had to offer as I ran around the map meeting a variety of npcs. It was a very charming game.

It's been so long since I've last played a game like this. A game that respects your time. A game that doesn't force you to grind endlessly for your next Premium status or Battle Pass, else risk losing them forever. A game that gives you a world where you can just lose yourself in exploration without making you think that you could be doing something wrong. These are just a gist of what A Short Hike is, it's even making me remember why I've always loved games like Skyrim. In a world where everyone is expected to participate in a race where all are encouraged to grind relentlessly in order to be the best, comes a game that is a massive of antithesis of all that. The game basically taught me to take things slow. It's ok to take breaks. It's ok to have detours in life, cause sometimes it is from those small detours that we will find things far more memorable than the things we seek. All of us had our goals in life, and as long as we focus on it we are guaranteed to reach it no matter how long. We all have our own pacing in life, but never disregard those you meet in life. They'll make your journey and your eventual victory far more rewarding and memorable. These are the kinds of things you only experience in a Single Player game. This game actually made me hate grinding so much. Hopefully there will be more games like this in the future. Indie games truly are the savior of modern gaming.

Enjoyed it. The art and music complements each other. Side activities are intriguing and *not boring* like in other games. Every npc is having a different personality which is cool. Overall enjoyed the hike with Claire. Highly Recommended 🫡

This game got some of the coolest music transition and it got me GOOD! I have never felt so emotional just gliding through the air in a game. Not mentioning the gameplay is really nice,. Very relaxing yet very engaging in the meanwhile. Edit: man the more I pay attention to it the more I'm impressed by it. There's a hidden string in the sound tracks that only kicks in while you gliding! The musics feel like alive!

amazing ost. like, one of the best that ive heard in a long time. also, amazing game. gameplay is slightly lacking and the game itself is very short, but the characterization and story completely make up for that. amazing game, check out wander song for something similar with a bit more playtime. A Short Hike is a cozy little collect-a-thon featuring a bird named Claire dragged onto an island by her aunt for a vacation, and unfortunately for Claire, there is no cell service anywhere on the island but its peak. The game follows her hike to the top as she meets some of the island's inhabitants along the way. I absolutely adored this game from start to finish. Its writing and narrative is so wholesome and heartwarming, the characters are all uniquely charming, and i even had a few giggles here and there. While it is not the most deep thing in existence, it isn't trying to be. It's simple, sweet, and incredibly The gameplay is equally as simple, and just as fun and charming. I had a blast running around the island, collecting golden feathers and doing side quests for the islanders. While the camera can be finicky at times, and the lack of a map makes exploring a little cumbersome, it barely retracts from the experience and it is still enjoyable regardless. and the artstyle, oh my the artstyle. this game is GORGEOUS. I highly recommend keeping the pixel size for the game at it's default setting cause it adds so much character to this game and brings me back to playing games on my DS and 3DS when i was younger. The island has plenty of unique scenery that make exploring it all the more enjoyable, with every nook and cranny just filled with character. last but not least... the MUSIC... oh.. my.. GOD... this games sound track is nothing short of a masterpiece. Each track perfectly replicates the mood and feel of each area you explore and how the music changes as you explore each area is incredibly dynamic and well thought out. From incredibly catchy rhythms to inspirational melodies as you reach closer to the summit. This games OST has got to be one of, if not my favorite OST of any game ever. Overall, this game is just a wonderful experience that everyone and their mother should play through its entirety at least once. This game genuinely made me feel like a kid again. While it isn't perfect, and while I definitely wish it could be longer, for a short hike, every single second of it is worth its extremely cheap price tag, and the games charm and character is truly something special that will stick with you long after your hike comes to a close. FINAL SCORE: 4.8 out of 5 stars!!!!

It may be a bit of a shorter game, but it was so enjoyable. From the characters to the traversal. In most games when I fall off and have to start again, I get frustrated. But this game was different for me. I knew that if I fell it wouldn't take me long to climb right back up and get back on track.

Cozy, neat little game. Atmosphere was spot on, really peaceful thanks to the music and artstyle, and the minigames are quite fun. Loved the flying mechanics, which were simple, yet really satisfying. It wasn't at all hard, so more of a kind of game to play when you want to relax. Story was simple, yet satisfying enough. A bit on the short side, though, for a fair warning. Definitely get it if it's on sale, if you're considering it. Really charming.

Very relaxing and satisfying. You can just chill and work on the quests at your own pace. The controls are very easy to master. While the central story is not complicated or lengthy, the NPC dialogue is surprisingly funny. I can't believe there isn't a sequel.
