Very cute and cozy game. Reminded me of A Short Hike. Been hunting for more games like that and this is the first that really fit the bill! Simplistic, cute art style, comfy. Cozy but not completely aimless like so many "cozy games" (not a fan of totally open sandbox with no goal or narrative personally).
I'd call this game MOSTLY steam deck compatible. My only issue is that it occasionally froze or crashed and I had to turn on my controller force quit (playing on keyboard). However it is exceptionally forgiving with save states so honestly I didn't care all that much. Hard to be that annoyed with a game that was so cute and so cheap just cause I gotta restart it sometimes, especially when it basically pops you back out pretty much where you were before it crashed.
I've been collecting and reviewing "one arm friendly" games because of a recent traumatic injury and my inability to find much directly after when I suddenly couldn't do anything. I think this is the first game I as able to figure out how to play one handed that wasn't just a puzzle game or point and click or turn based etc, a game where you are actually a little guy running around in an open world, jumping and interacting with people and objects. Cannot overstate the joy this game brought me for that reason alone. I'm recovering and will regain use of my other arm, but I certainly won't be playing any high dexterity games for awhile yet, and for a time I thought I might never play them again. I'm hoping someone who like me is looking for this type of accessibility sees this.
How I played:
Keyboard + steamdeck (I like my mini bluetooth logi one, its compact so easier to use one handed)
In-game you can custom map the controls to different keys, which I did. (I tried a few setups throughout playing, and my fave was arrow keys for walking, right ctrl for jumping, right shift to interact, space for map/menu, ? for back/exit.) There was never I time I couldn't get through an area or task due t lack of dexterity. It was certainly a bit of a challenge sometimes (diagonal movement + jumping onto a narrow ledge was hard, and the ultimate challenge was diagonal jump + interact with object) but it was the kind of silly challenge I welcomed after being relegated to puzzle games and point & click for months. ONLY problem with my setup was that after awhile my action button would just stop working. Never really understood why, but opening settings and just re-mapping it again always fixed it.
Anyway. All that to say. Loved this game. One hand-compatible. Probably very difficult if it's not your dominant hand, but not impossible.
