Good story, good music, good characters. I didn't like battle mechanics, but overall great game. 8.5/10 can recommend.

My favourite game in the entire series, and the one I first played. The world and the cast are charmingly designed, and stand out compared to most other JRPGs. Yuri Lowell is my favourite protagonist of all time. The dungeons in this game are unique and stand out pretty well, too. The combat takes a while to get into properly and become fun to mess around with, but when it does, it's enjoyable! The cast's interactions are possibly my favourite in the entire series, with Tales of Berseria being a close second favourite of mine. Whilst there are valid criticisms of some of the story, I still find myself replaying this game and loving the story each time I play it. Nostalgia probably plays a part in that. All in all, I recommend this game to Tales enjoyers. For a newcomer, I'd also consider it a good entry-point to the series!

Still ongoing playing this game, but I can say that I enjoyed this game so much. I don't really know about Tales series at all, but when I was teen I heard Vesperia OP song somewhere and it remained for years. I want to listen to that song again and I discovered this game. I decided to buy it during spring sale and I don't have any regret. I love this game so much. Story, gameplay, and characters, I love them all. My favorites are Yuri, Rita, and Raven.

Quite fun, good length and combat. But never reaches the same heights that Symphonia, Berseria or Arise did. The Combat is alright but the skill system is tedious. Each character feels unique to play though, so I could see co-op being very fun as a consequence. The story and setting were alright but often poorly communicated with lore dumps. A good experience though despite any shortcomings.

THIRTY-FIVE HOURS. And I don't think I'm at the halfway point. And the plot hasn't actually kicked in as far as I can tell. And I know for a fact that I haven't unlocked Mystic Artes yet. And I swear the majority of the time has been taken up by either characters yammering or walking in towns between instances of characters yammering. It might be a fun game if I could PLAY IT and if it WENT ANYWHERE. It got so bad that I seriously googled "Tales of Vesperia When Does It Get Good?" That had mixed responses, which was funny to me. Apparently it takes >40 hours to get characters, particularly melee characters, the skills necessary to do anything but chain three attacks and one arte together then stand there like flat footed clown asses not reacting to ANY INPUT politely waiting to get pasted on the counter attack. But then I realized that if I had to google when a game gets good after playing that game for THRITY-FIVE HOURS, then that game is canine excrement. I appreciate that, finally, a JRPG protag isn't a whiny, preachy teenager begging everyone to Do Better (the characters are generally likable), but this game is a waste of time. Do not play it. Not even for free. You have better things to be doing with your life. Like at the very least playing a video game that gets to its own point in under 24 hours.
