The plot is presented in parts and not from the very beginning. Even after completing the game, you will not be able to put all the puzzles together (although who knows, you may be able to). But going through the game for the second, third and more times you will discover an incredible story full of pain, despair and of course love. I'll mention the music separately, it's just incredible.
Of course, I would like some DLC for the game, since absolutely any story of other characters can be written into the storyline.
There is a difficult achievement "Complete the game without deaths on high difficulty". But there are no achievements related to speedrun.. I'd really like to.

Hands down one of the best stories I've experienced in a platformer. Fluid movement and grappling make the platforming good fun but the game really shines in its gorgeous presentation and story. Highly recommended!

I can't believe I'm so emotionally attached to this game after finishing it. This is absolutely a 10/10 masterpiece. The plot itself is literally a "Ghost in the Shell" level story. PLAY THE GAME WITHOUT ANY SPOILER!

This is one of the best stories I know!
Honestly, it's been a long time since I've been so overwhelmed by emotions from a game...
P. S. Why are there so many platformer elements in my visual novel?

Do you like platformers?
Do you like grappling hooks?
Do you like cyberpunk (optional)?
If you answered 'yes', then you'll probably like this game as much as I did. Short, bittersweet, and some of the best movement I've experienced in a 2d game.

Gameplay: 11/10. Pure platforming goodness. Some of the best movement mechanics I've ever seen in a game.
Story: 10/10. The ending is especially fantastic. My only nitpick is that the game relies on very long cutscenes, and it really tanks the pacing. Everything else is perfect.

I was looking for a game with a cyberpunk feel and pixel art, and I found the most underrated game I've ever played.
The gameplay is a little confusing at first, but once you get the hang of it, it's a lot of fun.
The pixel art is absolutely gorgeous, and there are tons of animations.
I have no words to describe the story; I cried.

SANABI is a incredibly unassuming game from the start. Fun grappling mechanics, simplistic combat, and very Katana Zero esque aesthetics lure you in while the plot sets up the pieces of the emotional beartrap that it then springs directly onto you in the second half of the game. It is phenomenal and able to be beaten in a single afternoon if you are good at platforming and put your mind to it. For 5 dollars on discount, this was well worth it.

One of my favourite games in recent memory, unlike much of what I play you can pretty much pick this up any and all mechanics and run with it immediately.
Story is good too

If you have ANY desire to play the game, ABSOLUTELY DO!
Summary: Bought the game to live out Tarzan dream, stayed for the feels.
Gameplay:
What i came for, i didn't know there was a story. I just wanted to swing. That said, the game is absolutely buttery smooth. Each chapter has its own mechanics (much like how Celeste has unique mechanics for each chapter).
Art/Story:
I did not know what I was getting myself into here. The daughter and Mari both have such an infectious personality. I couldn't help but admire the pixel animations that make both of them feel so lively! How the run across the screen, their super gleeful jump, AHHH. There's only a handful of characters, yet every single character's personalities and stories are so masterfully flushed out. When I hit the midway point, man I was not prepared for the story to open up the way it did. The good end??? Tears. The way the story was written to explain what "Sanabi" is in the final moments and the choice of words for Mari's character tore into me --- It made me realize how one could feel in the situation she was in much more than any other game has. 11/10.

Some of the most beautiful art I've seen in a 2D game. Top notch story as well. The game let's you focus on simply progressing the narrative without getting sidetracked (e.g. looking for collectables), which in my opinion is quite refreshing and allows you to fully immerse yourself in the narrative. There are some typos here and there, but they are infrequent.
10/10 would recommend again!

While I agree that the length and spacing of the cutscenes did do a number on the pacing, it's clear that the reason there was so much story stuff was because the team were having a lot of fun making it and they created some fantastically cinematic sequences doing so.
Loaded with gorgeous art and backed up by solid gameplay, a decently unique cyberpunk setting, and a good story despite the long cutscenes. Very much enjoyed this one.

Pretty good game. I'd say 8.5/10. The gameplay is somewhat easy in the normal difficulty setting for me, and it reminds me of old stickman / spider man mobile games. The boss fights are interesting and require you to use a bunch of varying mechanics. The story is amazing, the foreshadowing for events that happen later in the game is really obvious and my dumbass somehow didn't notice it :skullemoji:

9/10, on a first playthrough. The story is backloaded into the final quarter of the game, and sometimes the cutscenes are too long, but other than that it's truly fantastic.

Amazing acid cyberpunk aesthetic with a focus on character building and interactions between frantic action-packed movement will immediately remind you of Katana Zero, but don't come in expecting to scratch exactly the same itch. The gameplay is much more platformer zipping around on your chain arm and less tactically annihilating your foes. I found lack of control (user error?) of the chain arm frustrating at times, but despite the sometimes corny and drawn-out dialogue, the character development and super awesome cyberpunk pixel art kept me coming back for more - albeit in small 30-min sessions.
The prologue punched me right in the feels.

The mechanics are incredibly addictive and deeply satisfying. Throughout the day, I kept finding myself looking forward to picking up the controller again and swinging through the city. I've played for about five hours so far and absolutely love the story. The normal difficulty setting is perfect for me, challenging enough to stay exciting, but not so hard that it becomes stressful. Overall, this game is a hidden gem, and I'm so glad I discovered it!!

One of the best story-based games I've played. Gameplay is fun, but the main focus of the game is the story, which only makes the game better, as the presentation is just absolute cinema. That combined with a really good soundtrack makes this one of my favourite games

This game certainly deserves the overwhelmingly positive reviews it has received.
The gameplay is exceptionally good; I cannot seem to ever get enough of flying through the game's corridors. The movement is extremely fluid, and when you inevitably fling yourself at speeds approaching that of a fighter jet into a laser plane, it always feels fair. I recommend playing on the hardest difficulty available for your first playthrough.
The story is wonderful, and is best if you know as little as possible going in. If you can still enjoy anything at all, you will love it.
Do yourself a favour and purchase it now, I promise it will be more than worth it.
It well earned a spot among my favourite games, and I'm sure it will for you as well.
Oh, and when you get to THAT MOMENT in the story, (you'll know it when you see it,) I recommend going down your first playthrough.

I thought I was so smart. I thought I understood what was going on. I did not. I laughed, and cried, and soaked in the badass movement and atmosphere. If you enjoyed Katana Zero's way of telling its story, pick up this game.

Blatant attempt to reproduce Katana Zero success, which they just did... what?
It's truly good in it's own right, I might be ahead of myself saying it's inspired by Katana Zero, but honestly wether you played it or not, it's totally a must play.

Short and cute story-based platforming game. Story is captivating and full of twists and turns, has some heartfelt moments though at a few points seems like there may have been something lost in translation to English. Nothing that really detracted from the experience though.
Game feels very high quality. Pixel graphics and animations are very smooth, soundtrack is great, performance is smooth and controls are very responsive.
Game alternates between story sections and platforming. Platforming sections are fun but on Normal difficulty only had a couple really challenging spots, probably could have turned it up a notch in retrospect.
About 8-9 hours of play, fun, good story, glad I had the experience. Definitely worth the price.
Getting to the end is not important... it's how we get there.
I went through this game 100% blind, didn't even dive into it's gameplay, only heard that it has a story with similiar vibes to Katana Zero and I can safely say, it was worth every penny and every second.
Gameplay is so good the entire game begs to be speedrunned, the OST is full of bangers and most important part of the game, the story - certainly leaves it's mark on you. It's an emotional rollercoaster from start to finish.
Also the dialogues are fun. Lots of funny references can be found.
SANABI in my opinion is easily a 10/10 game, there's not a single flaw I can point out, this game is flawless.

After Claire obscure I’ve been wanting another very good story game. Tried persona 3, khazan, Jedi survivor, all amazing games but just didn’t quite scratch that itch for me. Tried Sanabi and jimminy Christmas this is one of the best games I’ve ever played. The story was absolutely so fun to dive into and keeps you guessing. Even when you think you understand everything. You never have the full picture. Just amazingly done and each ending while one obviously more positive than the other. Are both so good, both endings are such a phenomenal finale to that point in the story. I also personally am not at all a fan of platformer games, generally don’t even touch them. But a friend suggested this game to me and yeah never once complained about the mechanics (they aren’t bad at all) I was too focused on the story. Too good. Need another master piece like this.

as everyone else has repeatedly said, this game's story is gripping and truly phenomenal. my jaw was dropped for nearly the entirety of the final chapter, the major story beats could not have been handled better imo. the gameplay and art style really seal the deal in solidifying this as one of the best indie games i have had the pleasure of playing.

The game's good, like really good, the story is by far the best part about the game !
The movement is actually sick, pulling off those sick swings in quick succession feels good.
Deffo give it a try, it's not long, there are no "side objectives" or anything like that to get you sidetracked, purely just the gameplay and the story.

SANABI is a wonderful example of how a unique and rich storytelling experience within a game can be done. It was never what I expected it to be, and for a story that deals with themes of one's family and pure grief, never has a game like this brought me to tears. The small details added up, and with each line of dialogue, comes a cast of characters that are human in their rawest form. SANABI is a love letter, an incredible one, to people who love seamless action with fluid movement, and to those who want an emotional story that beautifully wraps itself up at the very end. If you have a dad, or if you have a daughter, if you want to feel touched by an incredible game that takes literally 10 - 12 hours to complete... This game is for you.
I LOVED it. I loved it so much for what it tried to express, its soundtrack, and for how it immersed me as a player into a character. When I started, it was a feeling that was just the same as when I finished it. Satisfying and profound, I could take away one thing in terms of its story, and it was that "every hello comes with a goodbye."

Firstly, the game can be finished within 10 hours quite easily. Which is a nice pace for a 2 hr of playtime per day to finish it within the week.
The movement feels good and is fair, meaning at no point do you feel cheated because you couldn't grab a ledge or wall or anything else. It introduces different mechanics with each level, without making them too hard to adapt to (a certain boss-fight is a little test of skill.... takes a little to do). Enemies are mostly approachable, with only 1-2 enemies being a pain in the bottom. I will deduct a little because I believe the slow-down-time thingy should be a specific button instead of a joystick, and for the time trials for being SO goddamn annoying to do (I gave up on beating the records, ain't got time for that) yet they are... fair... i am just bad.
8/10 gameplay
The story is a slow buildup, with brewing suspicions, a pivotal moment when you have to choose between A and B which will determine between the proper ending and the alternate ending (a little obvious, it gives hints, don't worry). transitioning into a slightly big exposition dumping section where some things are made clear, culminating into a tear falling, emotion inducing scene. The characters MAKE sense, and you can be empathetic about their situations. The whole plot of ERASE EVERYTHING is a little over the top... but all fine apart from that.
9/10 story
The graphics are... pixels... HOWEVER these pixels are goddamn gorgeous. Levels are made nice, the avatars move fluently, there are always new animations for them with each level/chapter. There are a few instances of scenery and moving set pieces being a combination of 2d and 3d which is cool. And you always know what's what on the screen without a second look. Also, do yourself a favor and admire the backgrounds... HOLY they are pices of art each and every one of them.
10/10 graphics (looks)
Final score: 9/10
This is a must experience at least once in your lifetime. Platforming is not for everybody, but it is well implemented, The story is good, the imagery is VERY pretty, and the gameplay is solid. Also, for those that know, gotta say... best daughter, would love/care for/hug her. This is father propaganda

I can't believe I slept on this game for so long. Genuinely amazing in terms of all things: gameplay, soundtrack, story, and visuals. Its got all of it. When I played the demo years ago I knew this was one that would be absolutely amazing, and I'm so glad I was right. The story is especially gripping and incredibly compelling, if you enjoyed Katana Zero but felt weird about how the story just abruptly ends PLEASE give this a shot.
