Cool idea, spent 5 minutes trying to jump from the one stone to another where the kid sits to no avail and bailed. Uncontrollably spinning camera and the ability of the character just to walk off somewhere where I can't see him and I get to blindly guide him back doesn't make it better. I'm not paid the battle with wonky controls, so uninstalled.

Poetic story about overcoming grief. Had just lost my grandfather when I played this, cried a lot. Still keep a fond memory of the game.

The story, art, and music of a walking sim {great orchestral music, minimalist art style, and emotional story told with no words} but the gameplay is much more clunky platformer than puzzler. Moving time back and forth was an interesting mechanic, but as someone who is not skilled at platforming, I found the jumping around quite difficult. It wasn't always clear what platform to jump to next, and you can't move the camera around. So I didn't get to experience much of the story. If you enjoy puzzles more than jumping around you will be disappointed, but if you like jumping to instrumental music, you'll enjoy it.

Controls can be frustrating at times but the story is really good, especially with it being told without words.

This is a beautiful, little game about an old man coming to terms with his past. Something we all have to do sooner or later. Visually the game is a piece of art and the music is also amazing. Gameplaywise it offers a platform-puzzle-experience, in which you make time go back and forth. Quite innovative. It is also a great example of non-verbal-storytelling. I wouldn't buy it for full price though, because it is very short. Although you can try to find all the memories, which makes it longer.

You guys... this game came into my life at a very pivotal/cross roads moment, which made it all the more beautiful, and gut wrenching to play. I played in on my Quest 3, through virtual desktop, and, if you have a VR set up, I highly recommend playing it that way, because it is meant to be viewed on a huge screen (it's the only way to appreciate the massive scope of it). Then, I realized that the purchase of the game came with the GORGEOUS sound track, SO, I listen to that while i do RUSH (the wing suit game) while I cycle on my stationary bike (great way to distract your brain to get a good workout in) so, I'm so grateful to have that beautiful and expansive music that fits so well with flying down hills and valleys (I highly recommend you trying that as well). Well done, you guys. In a world that is flooded with dark, gory, explicit games, gees, I hope beautiful games like these get supported. We need more games/experiences like ARISE. I tip my hat to everyone involved. Well done. -Kenneth

At first, I was unsure if I was enjoying Arise. The time manipulation mechanic is cool, but controlling the old man himself feels clunky and cumbersome. But as I got into the later levels, I began to appreciate it a lot more. I understood that the format of the game was meant to tell a story, and it does that really well. I was emotionally invested big time as I reached the end. Then I tried to get the achievements. I’m sorry, but challenge runs do not suite a game like this. The game is a vehicle for delivering its story, but the gameplay itself is really nothing special, and becomes quite un-fun when you push it in this way. Even so, this is a great little game and it’s worth playing. 7/10

EN+RU review. Arise: A Simple Story is one of the most emotional and touching games I've ever played in my entire life! An incredibly kind game, a game that has a soul, love and feelings, and it will forever remain in my heart on par with the game Journey and Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch! I recommend it to absolutely all ages and all categories of players - this is not a game, it's art! Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch! Рекомендую абсолютно всем возрастам и всем категория игроков - это не игра, это искусство!

The Dark Souls of cozy platforming. Whatever emotional impact this game could've had is destroyed by the ridiculous difficulty of the gameplay. EDIT: Just wanted to edit this. I do enjoy the artstyle and music. It's a beautiful game. And there is emotional impact from what you discover. I have finished the game. Did not get all the memories, but I'm not going to play again, just because I found the gameplay frustrating.
