I did eventually get out of where I was stuck; I wish it gave a hint that to get out of the endoscope, click the endoscope tool on the left. Maybe it did - but should again later. I had to kill it, but when I got back in, I was past that point. This actually is the kind of puzzle game I like, and was inexpensive, so I will get my money's worth even if I get frustrated sometimes. I note the discussion did not have a solution to the problem I just listed, but does now (I answered it)

Machinika: Museum is a trifle of a puzzler that's barely a puzzle box game; a middling experience that's certainly not as horrible as Doors: Paradox, but also nowhere close to The Room 1 or 4.
A collection of puzzles without much interconnectivity.
The problem with Machinika: Museum is that it's a well made game of a (mostly) fundamentally bad design. Sure, the puzzles feel too easy - they start off feeling like busywork, but from quarter through onwards, they get better. Unfortunately, that doesn't change the bigger problem. Let me explain:
the soul of puzzle box games is not here.
There's an insurmountable divide between GNOG and The Room series, and the legions of pale imitators they inspired. In the latter, there no red herrings, there are no nested problems, there are no seeming deadlocks, and the puzzles might just as well be a series of levels. You don't experience eureka moments, where you do the seemingly obvious thing, get stumped when it fails, and then you realise there's another solution, or find a vital hint as a reward from another puzzle. No - here you do the seemingly obvious thing, and it works the first time. Interconnectivity is what separates puzzle box games from regular puzzlers and point-and-clicks, so it's always a real disappointment when you realise it's not there. It feels like getting an open world "racing game" that doesn't track time, laps, or winners - but you can try to go zoom-zoom past another car which might or might not be following the same track. Or perhaps downloading a "roguelike mod" for Skyrim that changes absolutely nothing about the campaign, progression, or item drops - but it does delete your save on death. The first time Machinika: Museum starts approaching puzzle box feel is in chapter 8... out of 9. And then chapter 9 goes back to basics.
Side-note: sequel hook for... a bad sequel?
The ending is a sequel hook of the "would work as a mid-game transition cutscene in a bigger game without any alterations" variety. Unfortunately, the reviews indicate said sequel - Machinika: Atlas - still has puzzles that are generally too easy, and also pulled a The Room 2: turned into a point-and-click game with all the issues this brings and not all that much benefit. Well, after playing Machinika: Museum, these reviews are enough to dissuade me from trying it.

In conclusion:
Do I regret paying the ~$1 for Machinika: Museum when it was 85% off? Not really. Do I feel 3 hours spent with it could be better spent? Yes.

Machinika: Museum. An incredible puzzle game that uses different mechanics in almost every puzzle in the game. The creativity in creating each puzzle is definitely enviable and the progressive difficulty of the puzzles throughout the game is also a positive point to note. Regarding the gameplay time, I believe it is fair, especially considering that it is not a very expensive game, and that you will probably spend a good amount of time trying to solve the puzzles at the end of the game. The puzzle difficulty is ideal, it is not so easy that you can solve any of the game's puzzles in less than 1 minute, but it is not so difficult that you will spend more than 1 hour on a single puzzle, that is, with a difficulty that is not so absurd it is quite possible to finish the game without any guide (as I did in about 3 and a half hours). However, obviously, the game is not perfect, and one point that honestly leaves something to be desired is the fact that it does not have achievements. Not that this is something that will make you give up on buying the game, because with an experience as good as this game, achievements don't make that much of a difference, but it is something that the game could have to add a "replay factor", or even just a way to show that you did 100% of the game. Otherwise, Machinika: Museum is a great puzzle game, with extremely creative mechanics and puzzles that are certainly worth its price, especially on sale. Machinika: Museum.

A mediocre sci-fi knockoff of The Room games, featuring nothing memorable or recommendable.

Fun puzzles, the animations are smooth, the story is fine. I hoped it would be a little longer

Lovely little puzzlebox game, with a refreshing sci-fi theme! I enjoyed the worldbuilding, although one always has to wonder why such advanced aliens need to "lock" their devices with what amounts to a children's toy... or why one would put a hi-tech lock on a flimsy wooden crate

Bought it on sale for CDN$1.50, not bad for 2 hours run time. Decent puzzle I suppose. It's pretty alright content vs price tag wise.

A (very) short and (quite) easy game, but with a lovely sci-fi setting that's a lot more interesting to me than the usual Lovecraftian stuff (you know who you are). 2.2 hours to complete the whole game, including having to restart a couple of times due to bugs. Ran into a major bug near the end where the camera wouldn't properly track the moving objects. A quick restart and it cleared up. The biggest issue I have is that the game ends on a cliffhanger. There's no story resolution at all– this is just chapter 1, and so the game has a very unsatisfying ending. It would have been more enjoyable as a series of puzzles with story told through notes, and the notes are by far the strongest part of the game story-wise, conveying a lot about the setting and your part in it.
