"Dear Humanity, we regret being alien bastards, we regret coming to Super Earth, and we most certainly regret that the SEAF just blew up our raggedy-ass fleet" -The Great Host Fleet

Firstly, I want to express my respect to all the divers participating in this Super Earth defense battle. Well done, everyone! However, please do not let the wave of negative reviews concerning the inability to achieve 100% control in EoS give a wrong impression of Chinese players, as EoS is, after all, the only city that has stubbornly survived since the first wave of attacks. The root of all this, I believe, lies in the completely different strategies of both sides. The current major conflict is that players holding on to EoS see it as a liberation battle, while AH and some players view it as an invasion war. The argument supporting the invasion war is that from the beginning, it was said that complete liberation could only be achieved when the forces of the Illumina were exhausted, similar to how the fewer enemies there are in a city, the harder they become to eliminate. However, the problem with this argument is that I don’t believe an invader would continue to employ a drip-feed tactic for a city with less than 1% control, causing themselves a hemorrhage. Taking a step back, even if such an order was given, why aren’t the divers allowed to employ the same tactic? We are not allowed to return to Super New York or any other cities to provide support and achieve liberation there. Why is it Prosperity City (PC) only? The appearance of Prosperity City is a complete strategic design flaw, and its timing is highly suspicious. Why is Prosperity City the only city to be attacked last? Why wasn’t it attacked yesterday or when EoS was about to be liberated? It appears like a typical victory-stealer in scripts, just like the protagonist everyone hates who effortlessly defeats the final boss. I do not believe reaching 100% control in a city is impossible; the several fallen and inaccessible cities are proof. I hope divers will be allowed to liberate the fallen cities.

Best game- yes sometimes it has some bugs but most of the time it's nothing major or something that breaks the game (well in my and my friends’ experience) but they get fixed reasonably fast. Just love the gameplay. Also the new weapon customization, really makes lesser guns stronger and more useable on the front. The game also has a ton of funny moments. Sometimes things can become a bit frustrating- but that goes away quickly. (And if the game isn't for you and you don't like the gameplay it is okay not everyone might like this game, and not everyone will enjoy the same things as everyone else and that is 100% okay.) this is only my view and opinion on the game as someone who loves this game more than 100% and I know many people do love this game and who will. And when you don’t have friends to play with, just join on some public ships or help other divers in need (when they throw down an SOS beacon). In my experience, the community in the game is really nice and friendly. I just love this game honestly it's my favorite. Every moment is just amazing from start to finish, those nick-of-time extractions. Times when you barely make it out alive, and when you do you feel proud of your accomplishments. I wish I could describe it all better but I don't have the words at the moment in my opinion, it's a solid 9.6/10 Lastly I just wanna say. Don't let current negative reviews about the 99.9783% liberation/defense or any of those reviews Impact your choice for buying the game (why they are also upset is on the Chinese side next to the % meter it shows “% Defense Success” so the translation is wrong because on our side it shows “% HELD” (they aren't completely irrelevant but they should not be the reviews that keep everyone from playing it's understandable why they are upset, yes it's sad we can't just repel the Illuminate when hitting 99% on the cities and yes it's sad we can't make a counter strike on our megacities but I don't think it sums up the game as a whole and should not be the basis for review bombing, or to stop playing or discourage others to play/buy the game). It is about the Equality on Sea liberation/defense numbers. But it's not a liberation campaign at the moment, it is a planetary defense campaign, we should defend the cities we won't be able to liberate/keep them until we deplete the illuminate forces. But what they want is most likely to be able to also re-take the other mega-cities or to repel the illuminate completely which is understandable. I understand people are upset about it but don't let those reviews put you off from buying the game. (and the SUPER EARTH campaign will probably end shortly with the Illuminate fleet at a mere 0.3% left)

When this game first launched, I really wanted it. I was hyped from the trailers, gameplay previews, everything. But then came the PSN region lock and as someone outside the supported countries, I couldn't buy it. That was frustrating. I waited, hoping for a fix. And then out of nowhere, Steam dropped the bomb: the region lock was lifted. The second I saw the announcement, I bought it full price, no hesitation. and let me tell you WORTH. EVERY. PENNY. This game is pure chaos. Explosions, friendly fire, bugs, bots, orbital strikes, and yelling at your squadmates to "Get to the extraction!" It’s a PTSD simulator in the best possible way. Every mission feels like a desperate fight for survival but when you're playing with friends, it turns into some of the most fun and ridiculous co op gameplay out there. If you're into intense action, teamwork (and betrayal), and endless bugs and bots trying to kill you, this is it. 10/10 would die to friendly fire again.

I was holding back in reviewing this game for a long time due to all the drama it incurred over the first year of this game. In fact, I was quite tempted to post a negative report about it when I learned about how my fellow countrymen could never join me in battle because of a decision made not by the developers, but the greedy suits upstairs. It was hard to promote such an amazing game to my friends who I knew could never join me even if they wanted to. I was torn. I loved this game and I hated what it turned into. So I did what most people did, I left. I hung my cape, removed my helmet, and moved on. To my surprise, on a random post I saw over the internet, there was a mention that the region lock that was in place was lifted. I couldn't believe it, so I logged onto Steam to check for myself. There it is, the store page. No more "Not Available in your Region" notice. A short sigh escaped my lips. No words. Just glad that it was over. I can freely say that this game has members from all over "Super Earth" once more. So, on behalf of the new Filipino Helldivers joining the fray, I say: "Take us to the fight."

Don't listen to the recent reviews, they just don't understand how this game works. Equality on Sea can't be liberated because it's a defense campaign, just hold the damn city. Other than that, the game is nice tho, buy it.

Oh man, I wasn't prepared for this game to take off the way it did, if you told me a year and a half ago that a new HELLDIVERS would come out and it would be in such high, playable demand, that I couldn't even get into a game due to live player count?? Yeah I woulda said you must be having some crazy withdrawal bc no way haha. obviously, there's no queue to play anymore which is good but oh man it was great times those first 6 months of the game. 9/10 - A lot of fun playing with friends!

I know many people glaze this game way more than they should. On a few occasions, I can be guilty of that too; but that's only because the game at its core is good, and I shouldn't have to leave this review. I really do want to love this game, and I will continue to play off and on, but Jesus Christ, stop releasing updates quarter-baked—no, no—fucking raw, FUCKING RAW! I'm constantly seeing leaks for something new around the corner or hearing about some new system the devs are working to add, but I can’t even open the weapon customization without the game crashing and bricking my PC. The Battle for Super Earth is a perfect example of them completely failing the player base, their jobs, and as a company. The whole battle felt incomplete—with only 1 new interesting unit, two buggy, overtuned, and unfun units, and A UNIT WE LITERALLY ALREADY HAD 2 OF BUT WITH A DIFFERENT GUN. Stingray is honestly the only fun and engaging unit in the new roster, so good job here—you might have actually done your job. Fleshmob is great visually, but it’s nothing but an annoying damage sponge. It turned out to be a sort of interesting foil to the Voteless, acting as a larger threat to the swarm, but unfortunately it is plagued by bugs such as random teleporting, clipping and hitting through floors, and just generally being an unfun unit to deal with after seeing it for the 200th time. Leviathans are just stupid, and they could have been so much better. Maybe more of an upgraded, less mobile Stingray—it turns a corner and lays waste to an entire street. But no, they gave it a 40x scope, omniscient targeting, and a death beam it can fit through a toilet paper tube. Thanks for nerfing its damage AFTER THE WAR. During the war, we were faced with so many bugs and BS moments—with the Fleshmobs phasing and killing you through floors and Leviathans hitting you through pixel gaps in the buildings with no time to react. But only one bug truly ruined the game for me and my friends and caused us to quit until it was fixed. I'm talking about the Stratagem Cancelling Bug. Instead of making light of it in their very Helldiver 2 way—by saying it was “Illuminate brain disruption” or “Illuminate jamming devices intercepting our signals”—they just straight up gave up and said, “yeah we don’t know what’s happening, we gonna try to fix it ig but we are all on holiday so you're gonna have to wait, have fun lol.” Yeah, what the actual fuck. This pissed me the fuck off because of how important stratagems are to the base gameplay of Helldivers and how vital they were at crucial junctions during some battles. Imagine lining up a row of Illuminate and you only have one stim left. You just jammed it in your side and you only have one shot. You call in a resupply—wait, no, you call in—you call in a resupply—what the fuck, why won’t it work? Oh wait, you're dead because of a game-breaking bug. It wouldn’t have mattered anyway because the 500kg you wanted to call in after wouldn’t have worked either. I get the “fix” to it (sort of) was to type it slower, but half the time it wouldn’t be a “fix”—just a half-baked workaround that was just annoying to do since most people know most of their daily-use stratagems by heart. Halfway through the Battle for Super Earth, we got the Masters of Ceremony Warbond. Cool visually, but completely hollow due to the completely useless stratagems and weapons we got from it. Arrowhead has a chronic problem where they think they need to keep adding new things and bloating the game, but in reality, they need to polish what is already here. The weapons were useless, the stratagem was useless, and the most useful thing that came out of that armor was the reworking of it afterward along with several other useless armor passives. But hold on, because here is the kicker: I have held the theory that we were NOT supposed to get the Masters of Ceremony Warbond during the war, but instead the current Warbond—Force of Law. Think of the themes for both of these. One would be for celebration and revelry after the victory over the Illuminate, while the other has the trailer for it LITERALLY SET ON SUPER EARTH DURING THE ILLUMINATE INVASION... AFTER WE HAD ALREADY WON??? I don't think I need to get into how much more Force of Law would have made sense AND been an immense help against the Illuminate instead of a fucking flag and a sword. ^ This point isn’t to say the Masters of Ceremony Warbond is bad—I think the sword is cool, even though I never bought it—I just think the idea of them releasing a $10 item pack that, in comparison to the others, is just a big nothing burger during a time when we would have loved and really needed some new gear... Considering we weren’t just fighting tough new units in a new terrain, but on top of all of that, we were fighting game-breaking bugs at the same time. I don't think I need to bring up the stratagem canceling bug again. The war, after the war, and the leaks I saw following it lead me to the conclusion that Arrowhead has been rushing these updates out regardless of the game-breaking bugs, frequent crashes and disconnects, soft-locking missions due to no fault of the players, weapon mods being practically useless for 90% of guns, and—besides that—a buggy mess due to crashes, and more that I don’t even want to bother listing here. I shouldn’t even have to list all of these in the first place—most of these bugs still exist in the game to this day and are the reason I haven’t played in a while. I will literally hop on, try to play, and crash due to some random bullshit I couldn’t have anticipated. The web of code this game must be crafted upon has got to be made of wet sand or something, because somehow they stuck it all together and expected it NOT to fall apart. My very long TL;DR is just this: HIRE MORE EMPLOYEES AND STOP JUMPING INTO NEW PROJECTS BEFORE YOU FINISH THE LAST DUMPSTER FIRE. I do not care if you didn't expect the game to be this big—it is, and it has been for a year now. You don't have any other games to really be that concerned about, from what I can tell, so there is no excuse for being this inexcusably absent. Seriously, why are you guys always on holiday when you don't do shit to fix the game while in the office? And if you want a piece of advice for trying not to bloat your game? Stop adding new weapon variants with each Warbond. You created an entire weapon modification system, and instead of just making ammo types—like incendiary rounds, stun shots, or explosive rounds—you keep adding a new, useless variant of a gun that already exists. The game does not need four variants of the Liberator. Instead, give us the Liberator and let us mod it into, say, medium armor pen but with less fire rate/ammo capacity—or less damage and ammo capacity but incendiary rounds. Make the weapons you add and that we collect feel more unique and viable, like the exploding crossbow, Liberator, Scythe, Double-Edged Sickle, Eruptor. That way, the weapon modification system can actually have a point to it instead of being just another pointless grind. God knows I’ve had enough of that from WoW.

Despite the recent review brigading, I make no allusions that this game is anything but good. Despite Sony's corporatism, despite the funny bugs after every major update (which do get patched within' a week), and despite a significant portion of the community sharing the collective intelligence of singular E. Coli bacteria; this game is just good. The combat, the equipment synergy, the team play, the contrasts between enemy factions; LIBERATING the enemies of FREEDOM and DEMOCRACY has never been so satisfying and fulfilling. Not to mention the Galactic war which is the FLAG that ties this entire experience together, it gives you and this community a collective purpose; a drive to fulfill your PATRIOTIC duty and complete the MO. This is not a game for everyone, but if you want to do your part; defend DEMOCRACY, LIBERATE the Galaxy, and have some some FREEtime to burn, then join the HELLDIVERS™ 2, TODAY. iO

I've put over a thousand hours into this game alone and with my friends. This game is one of the reasons I met back up with an old friend of mine, by accident through a global matchmaking queue. We have developed fun and engaging stories of great victories, Friendly Fire, and horrible defeats. Being part of the greater narrative and not having a single main character, but being part of the millions of nameless few that all do their part to achieve victory is an amazing feeling. It is only together that we can win. No one person can carry the day, Fire the Halo, Destroy the Monolith, or Defeat the enemies big bad. The enemies never have a single target that has to be killed in order to "beat the game." There is no beating this game, as the galactic map and the enemy factions are controlled by a game master. Our actions are to thwart his attempts to defeat our glorious Managed Democracy. From the Massacre of Malevelon Creek, to the recent battle of Super Earth, I've never felt this involved with a game for several years. Some will say I'm blue pilled. Others will just spout a negative rhetoric because their feelings got hurt. A recent example was the Battle for Equality-on-Sea. I was one of the Divers that thought we would liberate the city. Instead we were locked from 100%. Instead of complaining about it and whinging and whining like my Chinese Brothers and Sisters. I thought about it rationally. We are being invaded from orbit, with no effective way of stopping them before they land. OF COURSE THEY CAN STILL LAND FORCES AND CONTEST THE CITY. Instead of stopping them from being able to attack the city, like we would for any other defense of a whole planet, we were rewarded with mission completion affecting the defense more positively. We Held The Line, and the enemy was punished for it. Instead our Chinese Brothers and Sisters have seemingly took it as a Political Attack on them. Megacity 2, AKA Equality-on-Sea, The place where it was voted that Humanity is the most Equal of all species in the galaxy, is centered in the location where China is in our real world. I Fought there with the players from China since Eagleopolis fell. And I understand their desire to defend the geolocated area near home in this science-fantasy. But then they review bomb the game because they thought we would beat the game. This wasn't the end of the Game. Only the end of a story arc. There is much more to been seen. New weapons, new vehicles, new artillery, new enemies, new wars, And most importantly - New ways to have fun with your friends and other players. I Stood upon the Great Democratic Wall for 5 days out of 9 on Super Earth. And I'm proud that we held as long as we did. I won't lie and say there hasn't been rough spots along the way. However most of the complaints I have are personal opinions on how other players play and prioritize Defense or Offense in the Game. Through reading a several of the recent reviews, Arrowhead not properly implementing some languages into the game is an issue I believe will likely be fixed before too long. There are bugs of course. I haven't seen a game that has cross-play between PC and console that doesn't. Of the bugs and issues i would like to see fixed, there was a bug that allowed players to drop and infinite amount of stratagems. The way this was fixed was to make it so a stratagem would canceled if dialed too quickly. While I understand the idea, this means that if you are fast with dialing the code you cannot use the stratagem. Newer players may not notice this, however some of us that genuinely enjoy the game and have gotten very good with the stratagems get screwed over. An example of this is the reinforcement stratagem. I typically can dial this stratagem in less than a second, which has gotten my teammates back into the fight and allowed me to keep moving to avoid enemy attacks and fire. this ability has been taken with the recent patch. Beyond that there are Illuminate enemies that can seemingly swim through walls to bypass your defenses or kiting, often attacking you from the floor. My negative part aside. This is an insanely fun game if you are looking for the third person PVE game that makes you think and plan and work with your teammates. Coordinate your fire, Reload your Recoiless gunner. Set up interlocking fields of fire. Throw all of the orbitals at the problem and watch as the sky is shattered by 380mm Orbital Fire. Laugh among each other as a stray round you fired flies across the map and domes your buddy in the head. Curse as a friend is rag-dolled by an enemy attack or explosion as they were about to throw a cluster bomb. "Oh shit! INCOMING" is something that has been yelled in many a lobby as somebody was knocked over or made a bad throw. I would recommend to anyone who enjoys fast-paced, action packed games the reward teamwork and coordination between players. If I could recommend this game 1000 times to compensate for fake reviews that only seek to harm this wonderful world the Devs have created I would spend as much time as I had to in order to do so! For Super Earth! For Democracy! For Lady Liberty! Libertas aut Mors! Gloria Ante Mortem! 当他人认为我们会倒下时,我们坚守了阵线!欢呼吧!因为我们的壮举将成为传奇! 为超级地球而战!为民主而战!为自由女神而战!

At some stage I would have recommended this game, it's fun and has a fair amount of content but I cannot in good faith tell anyone to play this at the moment. The unfathomable number of game bugs both minor and game breaking is staggering. I have never played a game as buggy as Helldivers 2, in the entire 214 hours I have in this game at the time of writing this review I have NEVER and I literally mean NEVER (I am not exaggerating) played a single mission of Helldivers 2 without some kind of bug present. Here are some of the recent bugs that have made the game unplayable for me. 1. All of my guns become unusable. Essentially at seemingly random I'm unable to ADS or Fire any weapon on my character without stimming (and even that only works sometimes) or being killed. 2. Random parts of the map, terrain, buildings, and floor types SOMETIMES allowing you to dial stratagems on them, and in other missions not. I am not talking about surfaces that are obviously not supposed to be used, I mean roads, platforms, even regular rocks and dirt seemingly out of nowhere not allowing you to place strat beacons. 3. Thermite grenades SOMETIMES stick to enemies. They are supposed to stick to tanks, hulks, fabricators, and most things/surfaces however sometimes they will just bounce off a hulk, or a cannon turret, or a tank for absolutely no reason. 4. Enemies being left hovering in the air after the dropship carrying them has been shot down. 5. Sentry turrets de-spawing as they rise out of the drop pod they dropped in. 6. Primary weapon randomly vanishing after being ragdolled and having to swap to my secondary then back to primary to bring my gun back. 7. The spear launcher showing that it is locking an enemy, however the rocket just flies straight up instead (This one is extremely frequent) and completely misses the target. 8. The 500Kg bomb landing directly on-top of Hulks, chargers, harvesters, etc and occasionally doing ZERO damage to them. I could make this review a dozen pages long on bugs listed alone, and they ARE NOT RARE, they happen quite literally every play session. I'm over it, I'm sick of Arrowhead adding more and more content which is almost ALWAYS broken on launch and riddled with bugs, and then rolling "Fixes" out after which *don't actually work*... Yes, they literally release hotfixes/patches and claim to have fixed a bug or crash, and you can very confidently launch the game and the issue is still extremely present. They rarely answer support tickets and will label or mark your bug reports as fixed when they are not fixed and have not been addressed in patch notes. My personal favourite is the fact they have a page of "Known Issues" which still contains bugs they have actually fixed and haven't reflected in patch notes, they fix bugs without even realising it and simultaneously DON'T Fix bugs they actively claim to have fixed. I love this game, I really do, but the game in it's current state is literally unplayable.

Some Chinese players are angry with Arrowhead because of a faulty translation and the misconception that you can completely liberate a fictional city that is very important to them in real life and is under constant alien invasion. At the time of writing, the game is better than ever. (30/05/2025) However, you should try to have a system that far exceeds the minimum requirements for stable FPS in higher-difficulty missions because it is very CPU-intensive. Have a great day!

I adore this game and the core gameplay loop, and its one of the only microtransaction systems i don't hate. but in its current state i just cant recommend this game. Illuminate mobs can go through the floor and buildings, and hit you through walls, the leviathan enemy is the worst thing ever added to this game, and is in no way balanced even post nerf. friendly explosive shockwaves (eg. 500kg bomb) can travel through cover and buildings, even skyscrapers, and kill you instantly. The way that the game spawns enemy patrols is extremely lazy, a lil effect happens and enemies kinda just appear, even in front of you. not even trying to be subtle about it. The predator strain is annoying at best and unplayable at worst, im not sure why the devs thought the leviathan and the predator strain would be fun gameplay wise. Arrowhead comes off as an extremely arrogant company. They'll make some god awful game change and when people dont like it theyll be like "AIEEE IM BEING REVIEW BOMBED FOR NO REASON OUR GAME DOESNT DESERVE THIS WAAAHHH" Focus on fixing the damn game and not shoveling content out, for the love of god. These warbonds, while i think they are a neat gameplay system, are half worthless. yeah, cool emote and drippy armor, its a shame they are practically worthless in game. the newest one, the cop themed one? the booster and the grenade launcher are nice, nothing else there is even worth mentioning. Why not make some worthwhile warbonds to invest in rather than shoveling out slop? I guess making good games just isn't profitable.

Democracy Delivered via Explosions and Accidental Grenades” Let me tell you something, citizen — Helldivers 2 isn’t just a video game. It’s a chaotic, side-splitting, bug-squashing, robot-blasting satire-fueled masterpiece where freedom comes from the barrel of a hilariously misfired rocket launcher. This game took my fragile teamwork skills, slapped them in the face with a resupply pod, and yelled “FOR SUPER EARTH!” as my squadmate Steve exploded beside me (again). I didn’t kill him. The game did. I merely assisted. Every mission is like a sci-fi version of "Who's Line Is It Anyway?" — the objectives are made up, your plan doesn’t matter, and the only constant is friendly fire. And oh yes, the friendly fire is so friendly it’s basically family. The graphics? Beautiful. Explosions? Majestic. Bugs? Giant. The adrenaline rush when you’re calling in an evac while three Terminids, two Automatons, and your panicking squad yell contradictory orders? Unmatched. Voice comms sound like a mix of a military operation and a group therapy session for people with pyromania. One moment you’re strategizing, the next someone yells, “WHY IS THE ORBITAL LASER HITTING ME?” and you just accept it. It’s all part of the process. The glorious, liberty-filled process. By the time the mission ends (with 1.5 survivors and 47% mission completion), you’re not just a soldier—you’re a believer. A freedom-loving, bullet-dodging, democracy-delivering machine with PTSD caused entirely by your own squad.

This game might have some of the worst FOMO of any game I have ever played, but whereas a game like Fortnite has FOMO from limited-time skins and cosmetics, this game has FOMO from missing out on the insane moments and events in its story and the ongoing war the community is participating in. Like many Steam users with many different games, this one rotted in my library for months without me playing it. When a friend finally encouraged me to play it, it quickly became my favorite game in years, this hits with you like nothing else on the market quite can, and my only regret is that I feel like I missed out on so many incredible events in the game's first months. In the time I could have been playing, I missed the experience of Malevelon Creek, the experience of fighting on Meridia, the experience of watching the Automatons be expelled from the galaxy, and the experience of watching them return. But on the opposite end of this, I got to fight the illuminate in the first hours of their arrival, I defended Popli XI from the Incineration Corps blitz, I joined the expedition into the gloom, and I helped defend Super Earth during its invasion, all things I am extremely happy I was there for. It's not a perfect game, it has lots of bugs, the game engine hasn't been updated in half a decade, etc. But in terms of a sheer experience, it is near perfect, if you are interested, do not hesitate and join in.

when the Squid faction came out I used to play at 90-100 fps and the game ran smooth but the CPU usage was quite high but not through the roof which was expected due to the terrain gen and the enemy AI but, with each update it got worse and worse. Now even with the lower settings(used to play high now medium) I SHOULD NOT be getting 30! FPS IN THE HUB ZONE and during extraction it even drops down to sub 20 which is absolutely insane with my config(3070 8GB i9, 13900)!!! With each update the game just runs worse and worse and the devs haven't even acknowledged the performance issues and if you want to use frame gen tech (which I hate but I went out of my way to make the game more playable) well good luck with that because it isn't supported . I will not be recommending this to anyone for now until the optimization issues have been fixed which is quite disappointing since the game is incredibly fun especially with friends.

AH needs to stop releasing bugged, untested content. Balance changes are totally fucked sometimes. Buffing Leviathans for example. No counterplay for it.

If you don't like this game you probably should go back to competive FPS games and continue raging snd breaking keyboards every time anything happens. This is a fun PVE game that doesn't take itself too seriously. Its all satire, including ridiculously funny team kills. Lighten the helldiver up children and just have fun, its almost like you forgot what video GAMES are for. I swear all these democracy hating lunatics review bombing this because they don't like the way the current major order is going need to STFU and stop being spoiled little brats. Sit down. Shut up. Hold on.

Such a great game, the story is always changing and developing based on player input and results. Constantly adding new content with currency you can earn in game, and embracing the memes to give us fun and silly weapons.

I am a Helldiver. I don’t write reviews—I deliver freedom at 12,000 rounds per minute. But after surviving a dozen bug deployments , Deployments on the Clanker Creek, Squid trying and failing to take SE , I figured it was time to spread the good word of Helldivers 2. This isn’t just a game—it’s a glorious duty, sacrifice. Every mission is a chance to stomp out alien scum in the name of Managed Democracy. The bugs are relentless, the bots are merciless, and half the time your squad is more dangerous than the enemy. It’s perfect. The camaraderie on the field? Unmatched. Nothing builds brotherhood like dodging your teammate’s airstrike because they fat-fingered the stratagem code. The weapons are loud, the armor is sleek, and the chaos is constant. It’s the most fun I’ve ever had being vaporized in the name of liberty. You haven’t lived until you've dropped from orbit into a killzone with nothing but a senator, a dream, and a full heart for Super Earth. If you're not playing Helldivers 2, then you're probably a bug sympathizer. And we all know what happens to those. For liberty. For democracy. For Super Earth. Now if you’ll excuse me, I have a mission to join.
The game that brought the band back together
There are two reasons why I'll sing the well-deserved praises of Helldivers 2 for many years. I'll start with the first - the game itself. This game is just a ton of fun and the gameplay is very solid. Guns feel good to wield and shoot enemies with. You can tell enemies are getting hurt not because of floating damage numbers popping up and filling the screen, but because they have parts of their body getting blown off, and copious amounts of blood and guts spilling out from wounds. There's a hefty variety of missions to go on between the three different enemy factions, and the factions themselves offer their own unique challenges to a mission. The Terminids (bugs) can have large structures flooding the area around them with spores, obscuring everyone's vision and making it very difficult to see while their patrols sneak up on you. The Automatons (bots) have massive fortresses featuring strong defenses that make attacking them difficult, with a giant tower that can constantly call in enemy reinforcements via dropships if the tower is able to detect you. And the Illuminate (squids) have monoliths that create psychic energy around them and randomize stratagem inputs every few seconds, making it more difficult to call in your stratagems for some heavy fire support. Of course the factions all have their own strengths and weaknesses, as well. The bugs have very few ways to attack from a range, but there's a great deal of them and they can easily swarm your position if you're not moving a lot and cannot gun them down fast enough. Most of them are fairly lightly armoured, but their biggest threats require heavy weapons or clever tactics to take down safely - each one has its own weaknesses and vulnerabilities that can be exploited. The bots on the other hand, almost all of them will hang back and shoot at you with ranged weapons such as laser cannons and rocket launchers, and they sport much more armour plating on their units. You can get better use with stratagems that give you and your squad shields to help protect from the incoming weapons fire the bots will sling your way, and you'll want some anti-tank weapons in the squad to deal with their biggest threats. The bots also tend to have the most variety of side objectives that can actively hamper your mission, such as AA guns that prevent you from calling in airstrikes to jammer towers that can block the use of all stratagems. Finally, the squids have a very unique mix of swarm units and ranged combatants, with their stronger enemies having their own shield generators to provide an extra layer of defense. Your squad will need a good mix of stratagems in order to hold back the tides of chaff that swarm you, while using heavier ordinance to deal with the more armoured enemies that can pick you off from afar. Just remember - friendly fire is on, and your big spectacular explosions from your stratagems may be the last thing your squadmates see before getting blown to bits! Speaking of stratagems, they're such a joy to play with. Some stratagems can call in powerful support weapons which you carry around to be used to take down tanks and heavily-armoured enemies much more quickly. Others give you utility backpack items which can offer interesting tactical options during the mission, such as a jump pack for increased mobility or a shield pack to bolster your personal defenses. There's air strikes from fast-attack aircraft that can mow down enemy patrols. There's also orbital strikes that can be a single precision shot at your target, or a massive barrage that lays waste to an entire area. And you even have vehicles or turrets that you can call onto the field to act as force multipliers for you and the squad. Every mission type benefits more from certain stratagem loadouts over others - oftentimes the squad's choice of stratagems can be the difference between a straightforward mission success, or a nail-biting bitter defeat. But there's even more to customization than just strategems - every aspect of your loadout can be tweaked to accommodate your particular playstyle. Your choice of armour matters, between light medium or heavy armour as well as the passive bonus it provides. Your choice of starting weapons matters - your primary, secondary, and grenade weapon ought to be selected with some modicum of care as you want to be able to handle any situation. As of May 2025, primary weapons can also be customized so that they behave in a manner that suits you best, and changing to your choice of optics or grips actually affects some of the guns' handling stats - kit out your favourite primaries how you want! Your mission booster matters, as well - do you give more stamina to the squad so that you can be more mobile, or do you add some extra lives to the squad's respawn budget? And of course there's also your choice of stratagems to round out your entire loadout choice. Now you might think I'm done babbling there, but I also have to point out another big positive for this game - the developers. Arrowhead listens and I cannot stress this enough. They've made changes that people asked for once they were ready to implement with minimal issue. They've also walked back changes they've done that most people genuinely hated. Most importantly, they've been focused on making the game fun for everyone. And to top it off, while the game does have microtransactions, the storefront isn't bloated with a bunch of worthless overpriced garbage or manipulative FOMO tactics - everything can be purchased at your own pace. You can even earn the premium store currency, Super Credits, just by playing the game! There is of course methods of farming Super Credits quickly if you have the time to do it and don't want to spend any additional money, but if your time is more valuable to you then the store prices are very reasonable - roughly $1 USD per 100 Super Credits, making each Warbond be priced at around $10 USD. Obviously, prices will vary by region. Now, the second reason why I'll praise this game is the community itself. Yes, there's your dickheads and complainers that you can encounter in-game or on forums and whatnot - fun fact, every online game has that. For the most part though, the community is 100% on board with the game's in-universe ultranationalistic patriotism and propaganda machine, and it's downright hilarious. The huge array of memes that have been created since the game's launch have been nothing short of legendary at times. And you'll find that most other people who play Helldivers 2 want nothing more than for everyone to succeed, and are happy to direct you how - after all, knowledge is power. Most importantly though... and this is much more of a personal impact... this is the game that brought my gaming pals back together. Friends that I've been gaming with since as far back as 2006, and who used to have been gaming together constantly as a squad since Battlefield: Bad Company 2. We really fell out of touch with each other during the eighth generation of video game consoles, and when I finally bought my own gaming PC in 2023, there weren't any games out at the time that we really jived with. It wasn't until Helldivers 2 that we had a common game to hop on together, and with cross-platform to PS5 it was possible for all of us to squad up again and kill the bad guys. I will always be thankful to Arrowhead for releasing such a fun experience, because they did the one thing that no other studio did for almost a decade - they got my friends back together, and it's as though the squad was always there. That, to me, is the best part of this game. Give this game a shot. You will not regret it, and Super Earth needs every able-bodied Helldiver it can get. For democracy! For liberty! For FREEDOM! Moby™

Overall, this gets my recommendation. With a developing community driven story that is a living meme at this point, Helldivers 2 leans hard into parody of Starship Troopers with its themes of almost comically overblown glorification of war and dark humor of how expendable and excessively destructive humanity is when everyone gets their own warship complete with enough nearly unlimited firepower. Some elements of gameplay may be too grindy for some people, but on the upside most if not 99 percent of all equipment can be earned just from playing the game long enough. Premium currency can be found in missions as much as anything else, meaning just highly dedicated players will be able to not only contribute tons to the war effort of an ever changing campaign, but also unlock just about all the sets of armor and weapons possible to load up on. New stuff comes out, campaign orders change, enemies may vary, but the war never really changes. Definite buy for people who want every battle to look like its a set piece out of a big budget sci fi war movie.

🔥 This Game SLAPS Helldivers 2 is what happens when you drop 4 dudes into absolute hell, and they somehow turn it into the most badass war movie ever made. Every mission is pure chaos, the fun kind. Explosions, teamwork, clutch revives, and yes, plenty of accidental friendly fire. Beautiful. The best part? No sweaty PvP tryhards. Just you and your squad against the worst the galaxy can throw at you. It’s hype, it’s wild, and somehow never stressful. Just pure, glorious fun. And the devs? Straight-up legends. They actually listen, drop banger updates, and keep the community vibe strong. Even better, the game isn't greedy about cosmetics. You can unlock warbonds just by playing, no FOMO, no gross time-limited pressure. Just earn stuff at your own pace, the way it should be. (Unlike a certain publisher… yeah Sony, we saw what you tried to pull. Almost killed the game, but the devs and the community pulled it back.) Sick of the same copy-paste competitive shooters? This one’s built different. This is Absolute cinema. 🎬

One of the most cinematic games I’ve played with only a few regular cinematic. So often I have felt like a hero having a last stand. Emptying magazine after magazine, firing ordinance after ordinance, emptying tank after tank of my flamethrower. Play this with your friends and specialize and coordinate and it’s even more fun.

This is the second review I've ever done. I wanted to join the group in Positive Reviewing since Sony recently unbanned the country list. A massive W, but should never have happened and it certainly halved the player based which really affected the war effort. I've been playing since the Weekend after launch. This game is amazing. The Co-op PVE game mode is my favourite style of games. I hate having to compete with others all the time and constantly be good or God-tier to be relevant. I also love the warbond system especially since there is no time limit. I have an extremely demanding job IRL and don't have time to play games every day. The system allows me to grind warbond at my leasure and im deeply thankful for this feature. There have been a lot of up's and downs with HD2, but id say i've enjoyed every second of this game. Totally recommend to anyone and everyone.

Absolutely the best live service game out there in terms of content, player friendly microtransactions (oxymoron as it is), and the overall vibe. You will have missions where you're a star in an action movie, and you'll have missions where you die in the silliest ways imaginable and will crack up as a result. Everyone should play this game.

Sony has removed the Region Lock on two thirds of the world, so I will now dispense a positive review. Great soundtrack, Fun gameplay, and no money has to be paid for any of the in game content as you can find the premium currency in each mission quite frequently. My only dislike with this game is that the developers, ArrowHead, dont do as much quality testing as they should, and as a result many bugs make their way onto the live servers with every update. Other than that, Good Game. Buy it.

--Detailed system for damage and weapon mechanics that makes every weapon count, there's not really any such thing as a "low-level weapon" --Huge flexes available for seasoned players, such as weapons that drastically favor accuracy --Well thought-out campaigns, such as the battle to save Super Earth, where cities had to be kept from falling, and could only be fully liberated once an invasion fleet had been diminished --Puts you in a place that is kind of like a futuristic soldier in a hard sci-fi novel(cool tech that feels like it could actually be possible) --Amazing community, a lot of helpful and light-hearted people, a lot of humor, a really good vibe to it --Devs who watch and respond to community, such as in the campaign to save Super Earth, they added Automaton and Terminid objectives for the players who prefer those that indirectly contributed to the war effort on Super Earth --Really patient and intelligent devs, people are harder on them than they should be

A pretty good game, although there are some problems for it. For example, lots of crashes, lots of bugs (Not the ones that attack you), and other technical issues. However, the core gameplay is good, especially for a pretty modern game. I recommend this game, but know that you will run into a technical or gameplay bug eventually.

I was just a simple citizen, living peacefully under the watchful eye of Managed Democracy... Then my husband crash-landed a Hellpod into my life. One minute I’m a civilian with a laundry routine, the next I’m hip-firing an MG-43 while my husband yells “INCOMING” and calls down a nuclear pancake on the front lines. Now I’ve almost got 300 hours clocked, a twitch in my trigger finger, and recurring dreams where the fridge beeps and I instinctively yell “STRATAGEM INCOMING!” This isn’t just a game—it’s joint orbital therapy. It’s date nights fueled by democracy, romantic strolls through bug carcasses, and a healthy fear of friendly fire. I came for love. I stayed for the freedom. ★★★★★ For Super Earth. For Managed Democracy.

Picked this up after their recent major super Earth update; for reasons very mysterious to me the game just escaped our notice on launch which comes a great surprise because it seems right up my alley. I'm lucky to have two other friends who enjoy coop gaming experiences and a PVE slugfest was always going to be a blast to play, and to our collective joy it exceeded expectations. Granted, I have only little over 8 hours at the time of writing, but I can already foresee the next 50-60 hours will not be disappointing. And that's the thing, this is not meant to be an endless live service game that will run for years. It has its beginning - charming and inviting and a very obvious end. The game WILL run its course after a point and you will eventually move on to other pursuits. But before that happens, you will creep and crawl through corpses of Automatons and Terminids, you will yield the power of the gods with ungodly Stratagems, you will rain down hell on the collective Illuminate and you WILL FREE SUPER EARTH.

This game makes me feel like your average american soldier: - Pop in uninvited; - Expend more ordnance than what was dropped on Vietnam and Korea combined, taxpayer money well spent; - Hit nothing but civillians; - Fail the mission; - Go back home a hero; - Repeat. Truly, the real US armed forces experience. Jokes aside, very fun game. Cinematic moments worthy of movie pictures, very friendly and welcoming community from my experience.
