Game becomes quite boring and repetitive early on. All new tech requires more and more workforce, which requires more food, which requires more resources, which requires more workforce (and water). You just repeat the cycle over and over again until it becomes too boring. There is no story to push forward. Only the endless production quotas. Game's UI does not make it easy to manage the production as all the information is hidden and one has to choose what resources are visible from top bar and what are not. You just constantly change resources to see what you are producing too little and again repeat the cycle.

There are good bones here...but the developers taking a year or more for updates and unwilling to communicate make it not really worth getting into.

As a city builder game, this one's quite enjoyable. I’ve only played a few hours so far, but it’s already hooked me. You may be focused on perfecting your production line, then catastrophe hits, then your citizens become angry, and then your basic resources goes low, and that's when you realize that you need to fix everything. The tech tree is also quite deep, and you can also choose actions that gives both pros and cons towards your community. The more you play, the harder and more complex it gets. It can be a bit overwhelming at times, but in a good way—it keeps things interesting. I really enjoyed the experience, but although the graphics is really great, I couldn't really see my building properly. The icon labeling is a nice alternative, but it's also sometimes annoying to see it just hovering. Another thing is that water resources always run out pretty quick, it's quite frustrating on my part. Overall, the game is really great with a cool "rebuilding after the apocalypse" theme. It has depth and complexity that will really make your gears turn. I'm really looking forward towards the finished game and the new features and updates the game will have.

I really want to like the game. I'm big on these kinds of games, been playing since SimTower (on MSDOS) and AOE1. I just find it a bit complicated. There are too many moving parts, too much detail to keep track of. Ive always hated accounting and this feels like an exercise in accounting. Then, the visuals are cool but they make it difficult to see my buildings, can't find them. Where was that well? Then, road building is tedious. What happen to digging dirt roads? Why do I need lumber for that? You need tools but you can't make tools until a bit later. Odd, because what tools did they use to start with? Use those tools, the free ones lol I still play AOE2 and CitySkylines is nice but, despite the BS, Sim City was my favorite. But, I get the vibe with New Cycle. I get the goal here. It's a lot of work on the developer, will continue to support because it's a worthy goal. Maybe I need to learn more shortcuts and my way around the game. That learning curve is steep, for me at least. But, it's minor things, navigation things. I'll figure it out.

Great game, needs work. Nothing outrageous. First the specialist mechanic is a menace. You have to train 5 up to a time but every winter all categories of workers die in droves. SO you can spend 1000 paper per round and lose them all in winter. This is the part of the game that I do not enjoy. I think a change to ongoing specialist recruitment or something that is less user input needed. There needs to be a backfill button to make it less tedious to find where the workers have died from and what building. They seem to die alot from power buildings and essential production. But regardless I can find myself constantly backfilling and then next season doing the same tedious activity again. Tech is great, resources take time to work out but its fun, buildings are great, I have played enough hours of this game to know its going to be good once fully developed. More "into the future" tech would be great. The existential issues are ok could be fleshed out more but I do like the theme of them. Flesh the stores out more but thats more thematic then essential. The regions are a good idea and I try to flesh these out asap to get the extra resources because... THE WATER IS ALWAYS GETTING LOW! I hate water when I play this game. Always the main issue. But yes please play this game its 100% worth it!

So I played several hours of this game, and I'm pretty sure that this game has a lot of potential. The first time I played campaign mode, I just happily accepted all the migrants to my camp. Making the unlock cycle is very fast and unable to keep up with the pace of the game. But after restarting my campaign mode and very carefully accept or decline the migrants that come to my camp. I've faced a new issue regarding sick people in my camp. And because of that my Cycle has not reached any medicinal tech, I lost 30% of my people. Maybe that is how the game balances the flow of this game, making sure that this game can be played in more creative ways. As for that, the conclusion I drew from this game is that this game may become one of my favorite city-building games, and looking forward to the next content from this game.

Only 2 hours in but loving this already. I'm a big fan of this sub-genre, which helps, but it's got a lot of nice touches. I know it's not original to this release but i really like the way you develop into new "eras". Excited to see where this goes in terms of development.

This is a realy nice game, more so that i play it as it is in alpha (24-140.05). I enjoyed it for about 15h for my first game. I played speeding the game up and not looking so much for details. So if you like a slower pace, i'll get loads of game play time.

I’ve spent only a few hours on this game and can tell it’s one of the better city builder games made. It doesn’t try too hard to reinvent the genre, but what it does, it does really well. The survival elements add a nice twist to the usual formula, and there's a solid sense of progression as your small settlement slowly turns into a functioning society. the game does get really hard the more you play it which i actually enjoy a lot depending on the mode you choose from easy to hard.

Very fun and chill city‑builder. Got this for myself as it was on steam sale. Super easy to navigate and spent time grinding while watching anime. Movement took a sec to click (pop up tut for mouse movement would be nice), but that’s the only thing that took a little to figure out. If you're into relaxed, cozy gameplay between FPS grind, New Cycle is the one. deff rate it

Man, this game really pulls you in. You start off thinking it’s just about building stuff, but then the survival hits hard, storms, angry citizens, running low on food, and you realize you actually have to think things through. It’s super satisfying when everything finally clicks and your city starts running smooth. The tech tree gets deep fast, and the whole vibe of rebuilding after the end of the world is kinda epic. Not perfect, but honestly? I’m hooked.

WTF - I didn't expect this game to be THIS MUCH GOOD! You can feel devs want to make the game they want to play, mechanics they love, no matter what the $$$ it will generate. This game has heart and that's something you get very very rarely in the age of AAAA copy pasta games. PS: I thought I was playing a fully released game. Now I see it's early access, LOL! Can't wait for new patches to get even more content. Adding CORE ENGAGE studio on my go to developers! THANK YOU DEVS!

The game seems neat, and I started the campaign, but I just don't understand the goal or what I should achieve. I can expand, progress, yes, but when do I win?

i think you should improve the dying peasant.. my people keep dying from the early stage game. even with the medicine, cloth, entertainment and housing i prepared still dying to illness.. and one time the dead reach 15people at once... with all the preparation i did how stupid is that !..

Didn’t expect to get this into it, but wow—New Cycle grabs you fast. At first, it seems like your typical city-builder, but then the reality sets in: disasters strike, people get restless, food runs out, and suddenly every decision matters. Watching your broken little settlement grow into a functioning city is incredibly rewarding. The tech progression is smart, and the whole post-apocalyptic vibe really sells the struggle to survive and rebuild. It’s not flawless, but it’s immersive and super addictive. Definitely one of the better survival builders I’ve played recently.
