An underrated masterpiece. Easily one of the top 3 best games I have ever played.

Sanitarium is a very fun, campy, and at times (which is most) bonkers game. Highly recommend playing this one if you are a fan of early horror games. The puzzles and mystery are solid in this game.

One of the best point-and-click games ever made. If you enjoy games like Harvester, Sanitarium offers a similarly eerie atmosphere, less absurd, but just as unsettling. It's structured in chapters, while the last few chapters aren’t as strong, they’re still worth playing through. A must-play for fans of psychological horror and classic adventure games

I`ve originally completed this game more than 15 years ago. The story is amazing!! Gameplay is a bit clunky at times, but overall is a 9/10

The hive puzzle is the biggest showstopper I've ever experienced in an adventure game (and I'm certainly not past it at this point). Even before this, this had the very worst controls of any adventure game I've played. Not being able to both look at AND interact with all objects as a bare minumum is as primitive as ONE-way-nudging in a pinball game! Pixel hunting is at a crossroads with the really small number of objects there is in the first place! Other than that, at the halfway point, this feels like the ol' Emperor's new clothes more than a forgotten classic, a Planescape reject in more ways than one, for some reason. This had rave reviews back in the day and nowadays, but there's just no way the second half can magically make the first one supreme, when everything so far was so... mundane in how it was outlandish. I'd rather have some fucking character development, in fact characters to begin with (!) other than player guy and antagonist dude... pfff. And not even those are interesting or developed! What I wish for is for Steam to change the money-back rules, because, like I said, the hive puzzle is quite literally where I draw the line, or rather where it was drawn for me. I'm not able or willing to complete the game (nevermind 100% it), and am not satisfied with my purchase! PS: Consider it ironic or pathetic, but back in the 90s, I wouldn't have been able to figure out that goddamn puzzle by myself... but now, in my old age... I don't have the patience OR motivation to spend a couple of minutes to follow one of the extremely shitty playthroughs I found trying to look up to a T in order to get past it. In fact, this might very well be the last adventure game I've ever bought.

One of the games that got me into gaming. It's clunky and quirky now, but it's still interesting.
