Vigil: The Longest Night

Very enjoyable metroidvania with soulslike elements. The game map is quite expansive with lots of exploration and questing do be done, and it'll usually get you some new piece of equipment or spell making it rewarding, enemies can usually drop good stuff also. I particularly like the existance of a skill tree that expands your 4 weapon type's moveset and greatly expanding your combat and even movement options, not usual for these kind of games. The story is also neat, I just wish the MC was developed a bit more. There is some jank here and there and some weird design choices (most offensive spells are kinda weak and not worth bothering with) but I believe the goods outweigh the negatives by a big margin.

A very underrated metroidvania with rpg characterictics, grim atmosphere and a very inmersive history, the only problem with the game maybe is the difficulty setting. I've played this game in hard difficulty and the enemies were a bit damage sponges, but it doesn't matter, if you like soulsvanias and use different weapons like an rpg game, this the game for you.

graphics alright gameplay/combat alright. i followed the molotov build. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xh03WlG2sDY&ab_channel=TheBacklogs tho i also used the melee weapons. story/quests : did not get the story at all. after i got locked out of some quests, stopped caring. map won't tell you where the NPC related side quests are, nor the placement of the NPCs... good QOL feature such as being able to teleport to a save point really early in the game. However, not being able to use items before equipping them is annoying. works on the steam deck, but had to change the resolution because of the map bug (map becomes a mess at certain resolutions) mild recommend.

Such a great game, wish there where more like this! Combining my two favourite genres into one! 10/10
