Grim Facade: Hidden Sins Collector's Edition

I play quite a lot of this HOG's. This one is a pretty good one actually. Some of the features are: 1. A map that shows where things aren't finished. Automatic travel using the map cuts down on backtracking 2. Clear and interesting puzzles. Only about 2 or 3 of the minigames were difficult and that was mainly due to the amount of work that needed to be done in order to finish them. 3. Collectible masks that also have interesting histories tied to them, once you find them 4. A bonus chapter that tells more about the mysterious assassin 5. Movies and wallpapers are available in the extras menu 6. Multiple different difficulty settings to suit everyone's chosen play styles 7. An intriguing villain with a good story 8. Strategy guide 9. Can replay minigames and HOG's from the extras menu Negatives: 1. Some of the voice acting was just awful. It was painful to listen to at times. 2. The few minigames that were just super long to do. Skip is nice, but I prefer not to do it. I also don't want to spend like 20 minutes of my life turning dials or moving panels around. 3. Achievements in game, but (like so many other HOG's) not on Steam. So, your achievements are cool, but since they aren't displayed on Steam... *shrug* 4. A few of the objectives for puzzles were vague. Might've been nice to have an "info" button that gave more information on what was expected for puzzles. 5. HOG's were pretty good, but some of the ones that required you to combine objects weren't always clear on what needed to be done. Otherwise, if you like hidden object games (HOG's), this is a pretty good one. I don't regret playing it and genuinely enjoyed most of it. For the price, it was good.

The very first cinematic made me jump out of my chair. How sudden it was! Then, when I saw the costume of the avenger, Scorpion from Mortal Kombat immediately popped in my mind. Then the Main Menu screen, as I clicked on the Extras and so how interesting everything is, I clicked back to get to the Main menu again and, boy, another jumpscare. The thunder cracked and the glass around the avenger broke. These things made me want to dive in immediately and play the game. PROS: - Beautiful and eerie scenes; - Fitting music and environmentals; - Interesting story; - Few jumpscares; - Diverse minigames and HOs; - Fast-travelling map; - In-game money to purchase items to advance; - Mask collectibles with brief histories; - Main Game + Bonus Chapter. CONS: - The ending of the Main Game is interrupted abruptedly after making the choice. After playing it, I can definitely recommend it to anyone interested! It is worth it!

What drew me to try this game was definitely the art and the theme! It kind of reminds me of Assassin's Creed (the spoopy guy you're following mainly) set in a a sort of steam punk timeline? I'm pretty new to the hidden object types of games and this was my second one (first was 13th Skull and as much as I enjoyed searching for stuff, the dialogue and parts of the story were not that great). I don't know if ALL of these types of games are basically what I have to look "forward" to but here were a few thoughts on this one: Pros: -The art work is awesome!!! Very aesthetically pleasing to the eyes! -Fun interactive HOP (not just eye spy but combining different objects to obtain what you're looking for) -Music is great! It is very fitting during different parts of the game! My favorites are the spoopy parts! -The lock puzzles and others are entertaining and enjoyably challenging. -I like you have access to the mini games/puzzles if you so desire to play them again without playing through the entire game again. -CAT! -The bonus content explains more of the story which is nice.... -When you collect masks you are able to see a snippet of history about the type it is and where it came from! I thought that was super cool! Cons: -It can be super snickety. If you don't hover/click EXACTLY right on the object/whatever you are working on, it can be rather frustrating and leaving you thinking you are doing something wrong. -Bonus content was NOT listed conveniently at the end. You have to go to Extras and just click Play. It doesn't say ANYWHERE that is where the bonus content is. I thought in the Extras when I hit Play it was going to start a new game so I was afraid to click on it. It would have been nice if it was made clearer that was the bonus game. -The main menu screen. It's cool the first time the glass explodes in your face but it gets old kinda quick when you are looking between the different tabs (i.e. play, extras, options, collections, etc.). It shouldn't do it every time you go back to it. Once was enough lol. -The random deaths and coming back to life?? Super random?? I honestly could say this about a lot of the storyline. I had so many questions about things that never got answered. -The dialogue is a bit cheesy and not gonna lie the voice acting was almost better if you had it turned off and just read it. -Once you collect all of the masks, your "reward" is..... I won't say but disappointing? -Ending is kinda lackluster and kind of abrupt? Even after playing the bonus content game it leaves you wanting more closure in my opinion. Overall, I was entertained and enjoyed the mystery. Is it everything I was hoping it to be? Not really. Would I pay more than $10? Absolutely not. I'm still saying I'd recommend it because I really did love the art and the music and the feel it gave!

This is [I]Grim Facade[/I] #6. It's better than the last few entries in the series, but still rather mediocre. Nevertheless, the puzzles and gameplay are good enough to warrant a recommendation. The storytelling is rather heavyhanded, made worse by bad voice acting. But if you enjoy puzzles and hidden-object scenes you may find something to like here. Note that there are achievements (not linked to Steam), but they are quite obscure and it seems you might need to replay the game to get them all.

Its been a while since I've played a hidden object game and I had a pretty solid 4 hours solving puzzles and looking for random stuff in some person's untouched junk spot. It's pretty straight forward and if you liked iSpy or Where's Waldo when you were a kid, you'll probably like this. The only bits I didn't like were the very specific locations I would have to drag certain items for an event to trigger but beyond that, I don't really have any complaints and it was pretty fun! :)

Other than killing the golem puzzle (which it didn't tell you where you are suppose to aim) it's been a good game so far
