Woken from a hypersleep, you find yourself alone on a drifting star cruiser, light years from home. The crew has disappeared, leaving behind nothing but a few scattered records and a strange artifact that seems to hold the key to an alien civilisation. As you search the empty ship, you’ll begin to piece together the mystery of the missing crew, and perhaps a way to unlock the artifact itself.

The Artifact is a puzzle game, i could compare it to The Room series.
The game itself is ok, it takes max 1 hour to finish it, so its a very short one and pretty overpriced compared to The Room games, not even to mention that those are longer and more complicated, this one is a bit way too straightforward.
The Game is recommended, its fun if you like such games, but i wouldnt recommend for full price.
On sale i bought for 0,79eur on steam, i can recommend for that price, its within my 1eur/1hour for video games entertainment price range.

Recommend: Yes.
Especially if you enjoy The Room series.
The Artifact is a quick game, about 1 hour or even less for the savvy puzzle solver. Once I got into the 2nd room it made me think of The Room series of games. While this one was not as challenging it was still very enjoyable to go through and I would love to see these developers create more of the same concept.
As such a short game there is not much to say without spoilers. But it should be noted that you use the mouse to look around, and click and drag to work the mechanics. And your progress is automatically saved just be sure you click Continue versus New Game on the main screen if you exit.
The only problem i ran into while playing was in Chapter 3, there is a puzzle before the end of the game and after moving the first object the game froze. I couldn't click anything leaving me to Alt + F4. I was careful to click on Continue when i relaunched the game and it picked up right where i left off.
In closing.
Here's a guide to 100% the game. Most will probably get through the game without the need for help, but what might be easy for one person, isn't always for another.

★ — 2/10 - Too pricey for what it has to offer.
Being a fan of puzzle games, I was looking forward to playing The Artifact as it claimed to have a beautiful 3D environment, head-scratching puzzles, and an immersive story but unfortunately, none of those claims were actually met.
I think it's obvious that a lot of the inspiration for The Artifact came from the "The Room" game series (which is hands down one of my favorite puzzle game series ever) but it feels a lot less polished and plays a lot more clunky. While the environment sure is a 3D environment, I feel like there are too little things in too much open space. Yes, I do understand that it's supposed to be a space station but with only a very limited number of interactable objects and only a couple of puzzles in each room, it makes the world feel empty.
The puzzles were a complete let-down for me as they were far from head-scratching, the contrary, they were way too easy and straight-forward which is probably why it only took me 42 minutes to complete the entire game. Maybe, someone who doesn't play a lot of puzzle games might have a harder time figuring some things out but in general, I feel that the longer playtimes I've seen other people have only come from letting the game run to get all the cards.
As for the immersive story, I can't say that that's what I would call it. If I had to use a word for it, I'd probably say it was bland and not very interesting. Of course, not everything you do in a game needs to have a purpose but when a game claims to have an immersive story, I definitely expect more than what was presented in The Artifact, especially considering the money they ask for it.
If someone is interested in buying The Artifact because they love puzzle games then all I can say is to wait for it to be on sale for 90% off and definitely don't expect too much going into this game.

A very short (took me 37 minutes, I am used to puzzle games) but enjoyable game.
This may be a good introduction for people who haven't got a whole lot of experience with puzzle solving type games yet, and since it is perfectly harmless and requires little specific knowledge, it is suitable for players of all ages, too.
If the developers ever wish to spend some more time on it, I think there is room to give the artifacts some more elaborate designs with more detail, they seem a bit simple the way they are - like functional placeholders - but work as basic gameplay elements.

The Artifact is a clone of The Room series in all aspects other than setting (and production quality) that's very rough around the edges and overall not very good.
Its biggest problem is that there's not enough of it... I feel like I could forgive the quality if it gave me a little more to play with, literally, but the game ended abruptly right as it started feeling mysterious and a little engaging. The playtime at the time of the review is a little under 50 minutes, and that was enough to complete the game start to finish, "hints off," including time wasted wrestling with the controls. Speaking of which, you'll often click on the interface (no keyboard shortcuts as far as I can tell to activate the eye or go back) only for it not to register, or sometimes the click will register both as "move here" and the button activation.
There's a very limited number of puzzles which don't really bring much new to the table: slide this, click that, read this code and input over it there, a pipe puzzle, a matching puzzle... All very simple, fairly streamlined, but most of all, too short.
So, yeah. Avoid unless you're absolutely starving for any The Room-like experience, like I was, I suppose. But even then, it may leave a bad aftertaste once you're done.
The Artifact is a rudimentary effort in every possible way.
Sometimes I ignore mixed reviews and mistakenly think "meh, this could be alright". Erm, well...
I came here looking for more escape the room ingenuity after finishing The Room Three, expecting the sci-fi setting might be a welcome change of pace. On that front, it is, but everything else is a major downgrade.
The game welcomes you with a blurry Earth graphic and low budget VFX. Soon you'll be clicking anywhere and the game will often send you elsewhere. Very unintuitive navigation made this a pain to go through. Clicking on a holographic computer screen goes right through it (you must click its base), while activating the UI overlays also counts as a movement click and sends you to another position.
Add to this bland, repetitive ambient music, blocky shadows worthy of gaming circa 2007, absurdly simple puzzles and hardly any narrative elements laid over 4 very short chapters, and you've got very little room left to appreciate the adequate but generic sci-fi environments.
There's no quit button here folks – you must ALT-F4 yourself out of this one, or better yet spend your leisure time elsewhere.

Very short "escape room" game with relatively easy puzzles. You basically drag and drop objects, rotate them, slide something open and that's it. Locations involve spaceship, alien planet surface and one other area. Recommended only if on sale.

The Artifact is a very short puzzle game where you wake up out of hyper-sleep and find that something has happened. It's up to you so save the day.
Pros:
Graphics are well done
Simple controls
A few puzzles to solve
Pleasant atmosphere
Cons:
Puzzles are fairly simple
Very small areas to explore
Inverted movement and no way to change it
The game is too short for the money they want
The graphics in this game are fairly good and the atmosphere is descent. A relaxing game if you have a hour to kill. Unfortunately, that's all the time you'll kill playing this game because it's so short. In addition, the puzzles are a bit simplistic and areas where you can explore are fairly small.
When I started playing it, it seemed like the developers were trying to mimic The Room with puzzle boxes. That didn't last though and it quickly changed over to 2010 The year we make contact. There are even a couple lines right out of that movie and of course, the monolith. Now when I say “lines” I mean text because there are no voice actors in this game, just text.
At the time of this review, The Artifact was selling for $7.99. That is insane considering how short this game is. I only played it for about an hour and I was done. However, I bought this game during the summer sale when it was 90% off so I only paid 79 cents for it. So DO NOT buy this game at full price, wait for a sale.

This is an The Room inspired enjoyable puzzle game. puzzles are nor easy neither difficult and there is auto save. controls just like The Room games, Click an object or position to move towards it. Graphics looks decent and sci fi atmosphere immersive. unfortunately game is too short and there is no exit button so you will have to Ctrl + F4 or otherwise force close when done. Overall if you like The Room games, you re gonna like this one, too.

Very short - only took me 35 minutes. The puzzles were adequate. Not overly challenging, but at least not in any way grindy.
Shame about the price. Don't buy it unless it's on one of its usual 90%-off sales. The base price is absurd. The discounted price of €1/US$1 is fair.

About an hour's worth of game, very simple puzzles but great visuals. Awkward controls, but not so much it's unplayable. Had one instance where the UI stopped responding. There also doesn't seem to be an option to quit from menu, I had to close it from the taskbar. Still, not a bad experience. It would be just about worth the asking price, but you might want to wait for a sale.

It's a nice enough The Room clone (down to the lens you use to uncover special objects), but very easy and faar to short for the price, under £1 would be more appropriate.
Can't honestly recommend it the way it is now.

This is a very short sci-fi puzzle game in which the player wakes from a 'sleep' on a spaceship and wants to determine where the rest of the crew have gone. It is relaxing, the puzzles are logical and did not have any issues for me. I bought this on sale - I do not remember the price but I am glad I bought the game.
I would have liked a little more ending - I can't say how because that may be a spoiler.

I wrote a positive review some time ago, but I changed my opinion. The game locks up in Chapter 3, meaning you have to start that chapter over. It doesn't take long to get back to where you were, but it's unacceptable. A game that locks up, even if it's cheap or free, is useless. Avoid.

Beat the game in 40 minutes. Most of that time is due to slow controls of point and click, then wait while the game slides you there. Actual gameplay time is 20 to 30 minutes if don't count the time spent sliding from point a to point b.
The Puzzles where not difficult, with the solutions being shown right infront of you?
I wouldn't recommend it. 4 easy levels.
After beating the game I noticed I had hints on, but the game was so easy I don't think it would have taken much longer even if I had noticed it before and turned it off.
Cool game idea that would need more levels and harder puzzles and better story.
For 80 cents its almost worth it.

Even though it was really short I would have to say I enjoyed this. Very fun, the ambience had a nice touch, very relaxing also the visuals we're well done. I would like to play something similar or another game by the devs. Great game!

I was disappointed by how short this game was and how easy the puzzles were. It's definitely beautiful and has the potential of a really interesting story within it. However a lot of the puzzles were simply too easy to classify as puzzles.
As other people have said at full price it's not worth the money, thankfully I got this in a Humble Bundle as I'd have been annoyed as opposed to just disappointed otherwise.
On the other hand if you want a short, relaxing and beautiful casual puzzle experience, this is an excellent game for that situation. It feels like a very polished University project, which if that's what it is the creators have done very well.

I'll just heads up this review that I did get this on sale, At -90% sale I thought I'd keep the game, otherwise I'd have refunded it within the first half hour. I would be very disappointed if I had purchased this when I initially saw it.
I thought this was going to be very immersive, nice spaceship style Myst with a helping of The Room thrown in for good measure. Unfortunately it's not what I got, and nor will you get. Instead it's a very well done, very basic puzzle game that tries to do the flip open box, twist the nob and look through an eye gadget experience that The Room provides.
Side note: If you are looking for something more along the lines of The Room (based on other reviews so far), do try the likes of The House of Da Vinci for a fuller featured experience.
The first thing that worried me was the "Made with Unity Personal Edition" I don't mind indie games, they're mostly what I play but it doesn't inspire confidence at the price they're marketing the game at. The graphics from the menus are poor at best, clearly taken from some mobile port and the menu and navigation interface show too. As seen in the screenshots on the store page, it has the mobile burger type menu at the top Left, and classic android styled back buttons... something you'll have to get used to clicking if you've not got a touch screen device.
There is no right mouse button to move back a section in the game play, thus there is a lot of mouse movements that just down right makes the game not enjoyable when you make a mistake clicking trying to find an area that activates.
The puzzle graphics are nicer than I expected, if not a little overly simplified, much like the puzzles themselves, but that charm seems to carry on throughout the game. The story was near non-existent and just didn't going into the second chapter. The first chapter was over with in about 10 minutes, so it didn't really get off to a good start.
However, there aren't many of these types of games... or rather, at least enough of them about so it's nice to see someone taking a shot at it, and if they could just fix a few things so it didn't feel like a super bad port of a mobile app, it probably wouldn't be that bad for someone just starting out in this genre.
The game recently got steam trading cards, and there are achievements that are easy enough to get just playing the game through. I would say, if you can get it on sale, and enjoy these types of games, grab it. It won't take you long to finish it so do price that into your purchase decision. No reply value in this game at all.

What is "The Artifact"?
An artifact is something that usually is ancient or holy and serves a purpose that isn't obvious. Not to be confused with a Valve game of a similar name, "The Artifact" is a Unity Engine point and click first person adventure. Now I didn't play "Myst" or its series much, but the perspective and gameplay are likely similar. So let us dive right into the analysis.
Story: There is unfortunately not much story. It is set two centuries in the future. You awake on a spaceship, from your cryo-sleep. Your crew - apparently except two people who are still in cryo-sleep and can't be woken up - has gone missing. At least you don't see anyone around on board. Soon you discover that the crew of your ship "Intrepid" was analyzing a myserious artifact. Naturally, you try to unlock its powers, aided by a bio-enhancement that lets you see hidden things but is used only for a few puzzles.
Gameplay: The gameplay is that of a "Myst" like point and click adventure. You move and interact with the mouse. There is exactly one inventory slot that you use at any given time (except in chapter 3), as there is only one item necessary at any point - so this is not an artificial limitation, it is just natural during gameplay. I encountered one bug that made the game unplayable after I clicked too quickly apparently, but that was not an issue, as the game is divided in four "chapters" which are unlocked during play. I got stuck in chapter 2 due to the bug (it somehow "zoomed" me out to one location where I shouldn't have been inside the room, so I couldn't interact with anything). Restarting from the chapter beginning... well, nothing was really lost and it took only a few seconds to return to where I was. The game is autosaved in addition to this, but thanks to the chapters being pretty short, even if you encounter a bug, even a gamebreaking one, you don't really lose progress. I encountered a situation shortly afterwards that looked like a bug - a thing that I tried to open had the "door" stuck halfway through and I couldn't see important information - but that was actually part of the puzzle design. So just that info here, that is not a bug if you get to that point in chapter 2. In any case, the chapters are rather short, and for an experienced player it takes maybe 30-45 minutes to beat the game. See below at the "Recommended" section.
One thing that I have to criticize about the gameplay is that you must open the door at the beginning by sliding it. While this is indicated, it could have been made a bit more obvious. But sliding something open shows you that the mouse can be used in that way to interact with objects. You can only interact in a specific order with objects to solve the puzzles, but there is nothing you can do wrong, i.e. no way to mess up. So once you got out of the cryo-sleep, you understand how to control the game.
Graphics: The graphics aren't spectacular, but they aren't bad either. For a rather small development team they are nicely done, the atmosphere of the game is one thing that really holds up. They look a bit dated at first, but in a way that could be seen as a stylistic choice, like mid-2000s FPS games. Maybe just the spaceship is a clean environment, there isn't any dust or something gathering. Look at the screenshots to understand what I mean. They have that "adventure style" with beautifully crafted lighting that enhances the visuals. While being a bit sterile, the nicely drawn shadows always make the scenes look well. The ending (I try to avoid spoilers here) uses the lighting to create a very fitting atmosphere for what happens.
Sound: The music and sound are nicely crafted as well, they never become annoying and never sound out of place. However, due to the nature of the game and the story, the sounds are very much limited to the interactions you make throughout the story. The music is not memorable, but also never puts itself in the foreground, i.e. never distracts you from solving puzzles.
Controls: The game is entirely controlled with the mouse, except for one part at the very end of the game - after finishing it. The main menu, at least in fullscreen mode, has no way of exiting it. So you must press Alt+F4 to exit the game.
Summary: All in all, "The Artifact" is a rather short first person adventure game with easy puzzles and a story that leaves open some questions. It would have worked as a short story as well, but the adventure format lets you have around 45 minutes of gameplay with easy unmissable 100 percent achievements (when you finish the game). All achievements are story achievements. The chapter select and autosave make the game never drag out even if you encounter a bug. Lost progress can be replayed in a matter of seconds to one or two minutes. You spend more time actually solving puzzles than executing the solution (if you include looking for items as part of puzzle solving).
Despite the enthusiasm I seem to have, I actually found the game too short, the puzzles are fairly easy, but it is short enough to not get boring. If the game would be longer, at some point it likely would feel more like a chore. But at where it is now, that point was not yet reached, and double the content would have been good in my opinion. But the developer made sure to not add any moon logic puzzles, to not drag it out, to just make a short and concise experience that is worth playing through once, but only once.
As I count "1 Euro per hour" as reasonable - in most cases, at least, there ARE exceptions like Skyrim where I wouldn't pay over a thousand Euro - the sale price of 79 Eurocents is the reasonable one. I apologize to the developer and his friends who surely put effort into the game, but it is in my opinion too short. So I can only recommend buying it on a 90 percent sale. That said, when you buy it for that price, you get an adventure that is worth that price, at least if you look for a short first person point and click adventure to spend under an hour on for 100 percent achievements. For lack of a neutral option, as the game is not bad but IMO not worth the normal asking price, I give it a positive review.
(Note that one reviewer compares it to "The Room" series on Steam, saying it is not as complex but feels similar. As I didn't play those games yet, I can't confirm or deny this, but it might be interesting for someone who did.)
Length: 30-45 minutes
Achievement difficulty: All achievements are story achievements. No missable or optional ones, but also no achievement spam.
Recommended: On a 90 percent sale or in a bundle. Note that the game is "hit or miss", so I can't give a definitive recommendation for or against it. You might find it too short or too easy.

Playing the game was quite entertaining. The game promises a change in the scenerie and the gameplay itself, when one used to play games where fast actions or teamplay is a main part of the game.
However it turned out to be quite easy to beat, concerning the puzzles and the linear storyline, which leads to a disappointing end after the last chapter.
For a fast and stressless game to enjoy i can surely recommend this puzzle for the price (btw. it was on sale!) and for the before mentioned "change of scenerie".
For an improvement for the developer i suggest to either make the game longer or make the puzzles more challenging.
On the other hand more information about the lost civilization mentionend in the game would make the game more interesting (perhaps by having some hidden information/ protocolls or little easter eggs?).

I'm giving this a thumbs-up, with caveats. I mean, I enjoyed my time playing it, I thought it looked great, and a sci-fi take on games like the Room or Myst is a really good idea - it's just that I finished it in 48 minutes. It kind of felt like a demo for a larger game, and because I enjoyed what I did get I'm sad I'll never get to play that game. So, it's worth experiencing, but pick it up when it's at a price you feel is worth it for about an hour of your time.

Ultimate space puzzles? Yeah... right.
So... this game is a sort of a space puzzle game in which you have to point and click(literally) to guess the possibility of things to work andto progress on. It is a simple experience. Nothing else here to be said. Half an hour to beat if you are familliar with similar games. The story is too brief and seems to be skimpy. Too many questions to ask, little to be answered.
I would definitely recommend this game if it had any kind of a mystery solution, any unexpected resolutions or ANYTHING else worth playing.

A bit of a disappointment, but at only an hour of playtime that's not terribly surprising. Doubling the playtime by making the puzzles a little bit more difficult and expanding on what passes for a story would make the game much better. Basically it's an amateur sci-fi knock-off of The Room, except more linear and much easier. It's not *bad*, it's just not good enough to be worth the time or money.
Pros:
- Decent graphics
Cons:
- When you look at something interesting there's often a comment, but it's in white and frequently hard to read against white or off-white backgrounds (depending on what you're looking at).
- I came across at least one area where the character was commenting on something I didn't yet have the ability to see, which really confused me.
- Most of the puzzles are quite easy, making them a bit more difficult would be beneficial.
- There's clearly some attempt at a story, but the developer seems to have given up on it after putting only the basics in place. If nothing else, an opening cutscene explaining why you're on (what turns out to be) a ship and some background as to what's going on would be helpful.
Verdict: 6/10

So Far so Good. I like the concept. This is a very simple 1st person puzzle story game. I would say it is like The Room. This is not an advance puzzle game however. Always make sure you look at the Achievements available for any game. If you do you will see this is only 4 Chapters; And the Chapters are not long. If you want an advanced puzzle game this would not be what you are looking for.
All in all I would recommend this game for young children to hone problem solving skills.
Also my length of time was NOT 4.6 hours, as i was having some pc issues and my computer sorta locked up; when I originally opened this game. As stated by a previous review this was at most an hour long distraction.

Well, what to say about this game? I wanted it to be good and intriguing and thought provoking and fun exploration but instead it was kind of boring, buggy, frustrating (because I could only look at certain things but not others) and seemed to just have some random puzzles thrown in at the end to make it last longer. The story was barely there. There was no real backstory to what was going on other than a couple of log notes that didn't really explain anything. The captions telling you what your character was thinking were in white, so sometimes you couldn't read them very well because what they were superimposed over was too light (moving the camera around a bit helped but if you it moved too far from the trigger spot the text vanished). It was also very, very short. I completed it in a bit over an hour and that was only because I had to get up and leave the game running for about ten minutes while I took the dogs out for a pee. It had potential, but in the end was just meh.

Although it is pricey for one hour's worth of game play; I could say that I did enjoy it. I would say it's medium complexity as the puzzles aren't too difficult. If you get stuck the mechanics (limited movement) is actually beneficial as it directs you on what you should focus on. It can be a bit abstract at times, but that's what makes it fun when you 'play detective'!
Get it on sale if you can. Would recommend. I'm thinking about doing a walk through video. Let me know if you want to see that!

I think the concept in the story seems to be coherent. However, I can't say the same for the interface. There is one game-breaking bug, where I lose the ability to navigate the room I'm in. Though, oddly enough, I can work around this by pausing the game, and selecting "continue game" in the menu. Thankfully, the achievements work, and they aren't difficult to get. The story is pretty straightforward, but fairly simple. Puzzles are fun, but I didn't feel they integrated well into the technology that I was using within the world. I liked the eye upgrades, though. That, and the way you would focus on items felt a little like The Room games. The game was kinda short, but to the point. The other intriguing thing about the game is that there is no way to get out of it - there is no quit button of any sort. Overall, I like the idea they were shooting for, but the implementation leaves a lot to be desired.

I have mixed feelings about this game. While I enjoyed solving the puzzles, I expected much more.
First, it's a really short game. Without any haste, it's finished within an hour of gameplay.
Second, the trailer and screenshots made the impression of a traditional first-person 3D game. Well, it's not. Basically, it's just point&click, only in 3D. You have absolutely no freedom of movement. Keyboard isn't used at all (despite the launcher allowing you to configure the key bindings - they all remain inactive). All actions are: move mouse, drag something with a mouse, or left-click. That's all.
Third, the music, while not bad at first, very quickly becomes too repetitive and annoying, especially if you are stuck with some puzle you haven't figured out yet. And since the puzzles are sequential, you cannot switch to something else and return later to the one you've skipped.
The storyline isn't really there, it's more like hints on a possible story. After finishing, you are left with more questions than answers.
As a result, I cannot recommend this game. I've got it at 90% discount, so I don't feel robbed. But if I skiped this game, I wouldn't need to regret it. If you want to solve a few simple puzzles in a visually pleasing environment - definitely go for it. If you want anything more - that's not the game you want.

This game is........okay.
That's not a ringing endorsement, I know, but while I am ultimately recommending it, that recommendation comes with several caveats.
One, the game is short.
Two, the game is overpriced (putting it mildly) for the amount of play-time you're going to get out of it.
Three, everything about it, from graphics to music to puzzles is......okay. That's it. Not bad by any stretch, but not great (and in some cases only barely adequate).
So, why am I recommending it? Because despite all the aforementioned issues/concerns, it is not a bad game, and I had fun/was entertained while playing it. Please note though that I bought it on sale, and I certainly would not be giving it a thumbs-up had I paid full price (it's worth 2-3 bucks, so wait for a deep sale).
To sum up, too short for the way too high price, and nothing will really stand out as being "awesome". But it is adequate and achieves the ultimate goal of a game, entertaining the person playing it.

A short but entertaining first person point and click puzzle game. It falls a little on the easy side, but not so much that you can just breeze through without scratching your head once or twice. A bit disappointing when it ends, as I was genuinely ready for more, but a good experience overall.

Got to hand it to them: this concept is first-class nerd bait. Who among us can resist the opportunity to probe the mysteries of some unknown alien artifact? That idea never gets old.
Sadly, unless the aliens erased my memory there's not a whole lot of probing to do here.
Despite the lofty premise this investigation is not exactly going to make you sweat, even if you're as lousy at puzzle games as I am. That's ok. Sometimes it's nice just to relax a little instead of beating your head against a wall.
If you're looking for another game like The Room, this isn't it. There's a little bit of panel sliding and knob turning at the beginning, but mostly the item interactions are pretty standard.
That's probably a good thing, because trying to manipulate complex futuristic technological objects in that way doesn't make much sense when your primitive 21st century Earth mind can't even tell what they are. The Room relied on a certain built-in level of intuition about its various mechanical devices that you don't have with shiny control panels and random lights.
If you can get it on sale for under a buck (that's the key!), this game's not terrible for what it is. Better make other plans for the evening, though, because it probably won't even keep you busy for an hour and a half.

UPDATE: the rest of this review still applies, but this does have an interesting niche - this is the perfect gateway game to speedrunning. It's a short run that's relatively easy to memorise, with a bit of room for route optimisation and technique improvement... and who knows, maybe a glitch or two to find. This game was my first speedrun, and it could be yours: all of the weaknesses it has has a standard game are advantages when looking at this as from a My First Speedrun Game perspective. And, because I'm the only person running it so far, there's plenty of room for newcomers to come along and make their mark... As I write this, anyone who submits a vid of themselves playing through is guaranteed, at worst, a place as second fastest in the world.
ORIGINAL REVIEW: An interesting tech demo for some theoretical puzzle game down the line. As a game in its own right though... No. First, it's really short. That isn't necessarily an issue if that short experience is especially satisfying or clever, but... This isn't. Puzzles are sparse and simple. Even the final chapter has 3 slightly different variants of the same simple puzzle, and... That's it, roll credits. The first chapter is basically just a tutorial, and while the middle two chapters are a little more substantial, there's really not much meat on this bone.
The blurb mentions an immersive story, and I disagree. The story left absolutely no impression on me, serving mostly as an excuse to link together the games 4 environments. I was surprised that the eyepiece gimmick wasn't used more for this reason... Another idea given the barest time to show off what it could potentially do, ready for a full game to go into.
If you're interested in this type of game, I can strongly recommend the "The Room" trilogy. As for this, I got it for 90% off, and I think that's probably about right. There's just not much to recommend here.

This game was .. meh 'OK' I did have a couple of issues with it during the 2nd chapter. Whenever I moved out of close up it would bring up a rather lovely blue supernova type screen that I could not get out of, but I found that playing it in window mode stopped that from happening and it meant I could also escape out of the game if needed as there does't seem to be an option to do that once you're in it.
The game itself is simple, pleasant graphics, but it lacks the ability of any exploration, it is merely a point and click from A to B game. The puzzles were't too brain taxing and the story ok, it did hold my interest..I wanted to know what would happen next. However at the end, I felt a little deflated and huh? ..
Would I recommend this game to you?... Yes, but not at £6.99. If it was on sale I'd say go for it, if you want something to do for an hour or less.. The game is short and some say it's in a similar vein to The Room.. however, The Room series is cheaper and far better/ superior all round.

Stunningly well written and made Sci-Fi mystery. Really is a must have for all of us that one day this will happen. Kudos to A C Clarke as without him we'd be far worse off.

An interesting Unity demo, if you receive the game for free it's worth the hour or so of your time it will take to complete to see a very basic idea of what a four-man team could create with the engine.

I picked this up for 79 cents, recommended at that price. This is basically "The Room" in space, right down to the "alternate vision" lens you acquire to solve some puzzles. And like The Room, it's standard environmental puzzle fare; turn the lever, open the box, find the code, unlock the door.
Though unlike The Room, with its rich and intricate puzzles, The Atrifact's puzzles are much more sparse and simplistic. I managed to complete it in a single session without hints, only stymied by a missed clue on the "power terminal" switch puzzle, but still able to brute-force the solution in about 10 minutes. Most likely you won't feel much satisfaction from completing the trials of this Room "Lite".
The theme borrows heavily from "2001: A Space Odyssey", both visually and philosophically. So much so that toward the end, I half-expected the HAL9000 to answer my failed solutions with "I'm sorry, Dave. I'm afraid I can't do that". Play through til the end, and you'll see what I mean.
There is no replay value, as the solutions never change, but for under a buck, this one-and-done is a decent enough choice. Achievements are unmissable, so if you play to the end, you'll 100% it no problem. Cards are available for you collectors out there. For a Unity Personal Edition offering, it looks great, and performs as it should. Not worth full price by a long shot, but if you catch it on a good sale, it's a nice little diversion.

i mean i got this for 79c so i'm not bothered much by how easy it is, finished it in about 35 minutes... but 7.99 euros for this is a bit much for what little game there is

The Artifact is a first person puzzle game which actually does have some interesting puzzles despites its short length and mediocre story. I guess I'd say it's similiar to The Room but with easier puzzles to some extent.
I recommend this if you enjoy these types of games and would like to play another one.

A very short but good puzzle game, took me just under an hour to complete 100%
If you like puzzle games like The Room, this is a game for you.
Pick it up when it's on a sale as the price tag for the game length is too much IMO

Drag and clock story with toddler-level gameplay, mediocre graphics and close to non-existent story.
If you wish easy games to kill time with, just go online and search for escape room games - gives similar results.

Nice Indy-Puzzle Game with Sci-Fi/Alien/Space-Setting. It's like "The Room"-Games, it is short but makes lot of fun. Part 2 please!

This game is much too easy and much too short . It was interesting at first and it quickly became boring . I recommend that no one pay full price for this game. The quality wasn't bad if only it was longer I would say it would be worth more. I think it's probably not worth more than a dollar.

Much too short for it's price. It's good as a basis for a full release, but at full price not worth it.
