A nice relaxing casual simulation game. Gameplay is a mix of time management (you start from scratch with each level and have to finish them in a set time limit) with a more free-form city-building sim (you can place buildings pretty much anywhere and your workers take care of gathering resources without direct control) and exploration/adventure elements (you control the main character and have to go running all over the map completing quests). I haven't seen this particular style of gameplay outside the Adelantado Trilogy, and I really enjoy it. There are a few annoying mechanics: since the levels are long, replaying if you miss the expert time is tedious, and buildings losing efficiency over time is an unnecessary bit of micromanagement. Often you're in another area when their efficiency falls too low, so you can't fix them, and the resource costs for efficiency restoration are so high that it doesn't seem worth it compared to just tearing down the building and putting up a new one. However, that wasn't enough to make the game unfun, and it's certainly an improvement over Adelantado 1, where you can't destroy buildings at all.

This game has only four reviews? I can't understand why this isn't more popular. A great game for anybody who is into the settler type of games. What I like most about this one is that there are a lot of things to be discovered on the map. Like the bushes with berries you can harvest from time to time.

I genuinely enjoyed the entire trilogy, I feel like it could become a classic. However, it's very disheartening that not all of the secrets can be found in this part. Patching the game and adding social features like cards could make this game a lot more popular.

If your familiar with this (now dissolved so far as I can tell) companies work, than you have a general idea what your getting storywise. Gamewise, this is a fairly different animal: basically its Civilization Lite, with an adventure angle. It's great if you like Civ, but don't have the time to invest, but I'm warning you now, this is not brief. Story: Like the Viking series its not something for anyone who's looking for commentary on the actual conquistadors, the costuming of noted conquerors was just set dressing to these guys. The vague indigenous tribes likewise take inspiration from multiple tribes & a lot of made up stuff. They thankfully are not the bad guys, filling the role of quest giver. Closest thing you have to villains is mysteriously still alive "cave men" & equally alive dinosaurs who you have to click on repeatedly until they go away. (anyone who played later titles, yes its the random animal that scares the workers. only these move, damage buildings, and can be banished completely with a specific building) Nothing quite so bizarrely surreal as having the generic protagonist teaching natives how to grow corn to prevent them from starving (for those not familiar with American history, the natives famously taught early colonists this, a fairly universally known fact in the U.S. where its celebrated as the inspiration for the holiday Thanksgiving) These guys mostly want you Gameplay: This is *NOT* a quick little distraction. This is an approximately hour long distraction, per level! Whereas their later titles involved gathering some resources in a time management mechanic, this one is more involved. You must place the buildings yourself, occasionally managing limited space. About half the buildings require another building to process the raw materials the first one coughed up. There are several early levels where there is a finite amount of wood. Now as for the adventure element. Your 'player character' is a generic hero in conquistador garb who goes around chopping at everything from barrels to foliage (so much foliage) with a saber of all things. His purpose is to go on dungeon crawls, and collect quest items. There are some hidden items on ever level an eagle eyed player can collect using this guy. Advise: Take the game off full screen and don't be afraid to pause and minimize it. You are not missing anything at all in windowed mode. If you turn off music you can even use a pop-out video. The combination can do a lot to engage an active mind when your bored af.

I have played this third game in the trilogy at least once before on Steam. (I have it on BFG as well and have played it half a dozen times there) As the third game it is a bit more intricate than the first and the individual sections are longer on the supposition that you are already familiar with the preceding games. Thankfully you can save any section whilst playing so if you get tired during a section you can save and come back later which is something you couldn't do in the earliest games. I still love these games. I hope you will, too.

A good fun casual game, I particularly like the writing of the secrets' text -the prayers are pretty profound if you read them! The gods' names are accurate too, so they must have had a good writer working on this. One thing is practically a deal-breaker though - the game can't be mastered, because there is a bug on some levels, and not all secrets can be found because they are not programmed in. The developers literally forgot to track the secrets, as one gamer discovered when he looked at the code. It is pretty unacceptable, that Whiterra didn't take the time to create a patch. It probably would have taken one day to do. I like Whiterra's portfolio of games in general but imo there is a mixed bag of quality in art direction, coding and QA across all the titles. I wish they'd up their "game" a bit more, and hold on to some of the talent who created their best titles.
