Love the graphics. Especially the animated + interactive aspects of the stages which make the game even crazier. Some bugs to work out especially with lobby connection, but loads of fun and will definitely be playing as it continues to progress to be less wonky. Recommend picking it up to support the devs and be ready for the updates!

Love the presentation and concept of the game but sadly there is no single player or AI Bots to play against as far as I can tell. This means your only option to play the game is with real people either online or locally. There were no online games when I checked and none of my friends have this so I have no real way of playing this game by myself at the moment. There really needs to be some single player mode or this needs to be priced like other multiplayer only games without single player such as "Hidden in Plain Sight" which is only $7. Most likely will be refunding since in my current situation I can't play the game by myself.

I was expecting something amazing when I first clicked on this game, I expected something with a pixely style, japanese art, and other fun. When I finally checked out and played the game, however, I found an incredibly detailed and well-made figurative explosion of color, character, and references to Kirby. Like, a lot of Kirby. I am precisely 2700% okay with this. From the slimes, (i.e. Cowboy, Tornado, and Beam [Would be Laser]) to the stages, even to the sun's movement in the opening cutscene and trailer! Now, I'm not saying this is a clone or that this is bad in ANY way, shape, or form. This is an amazing game, and although yes, there are some grammatical errors and glitches, please take note that this game came out THIS MORNING. Thank you, creators. You've made something great! Edit 2/10/25: This is a review I wrote in 2018, when I was much younger and clearly more impassioned than I am now, lol. While I usually might delete or private an old review like this, I still do echo a lot of the sentiments I expressed here. This game is simple, it's inspired, and it's adorable. If you can gather a couple friends together to play, I highly recommend that you do so. While this game is not designed with singleplayer in mind, I still had plenty of fun exploring stages and powerups, and hunting for a couple achievements on my own. This game is cute as hell, and if it looks like something you'd like I again encourage you to give it a try.

I should really stop buying games I will never play... Sorry to say this but there is not a single reason anyone would play this over the towerfall ascension. And you can get that game much MUCH cheaper than this one. Just let that sink in: there is official "local multiplayer versus" standalone game for 8 players on itch.io..... for 4$. The replay value is just infinite there. Or just buy the standard "4 player" game here on steam. To make this worse this game basically never goes on sale. Why? Dont ask me. But its not worth ~14 euro it asks for. Because entire game is a mini-game. Would I pay 3 euro for it? Maaaayyybe. Only because I like to collect local multiplayer games. Because I know I will never play this. The game is just not fun: * you have no idea when your attacks have recharged. There is no indication. You have to spam like idiot removing what little strategy this game could have. * the entire game (any/all modes) contain of 2 actions: jump or attack. There is zero depth to this game!!! Its just way too casual to be fun. * ZERO synenergy between jump and attack actions. You jump to a platform as a trap laying slime and lay a trap mid-air -> the trap slides off completely off the platform to the corner of the map, hitting no-one. Can I activate the trap manually? No. The game has only 2 buttons, remember? You just have to spam an attack and pray you hit someone. Now the developers have added the online multiplayer. The problem is: they have attached the pricetag of a full game to a mini game, so noone will ever buy and play this. The amount of players at any point is just zero. I can only guess that devs think that they can be bold with the pricing because local couch games is a niche market... the problem is there ARE better games out there. Duck game, broforce, towerfall, invisigun, - and this is just from the top of my head. Have the devs played them???

This game rules, perfect party game to boot up at a local or over remote play with some friends. It really deserves/d more attention than it got. Only gripe I have is that some of the achievements don't unlock despite fulfilling the requirements, but that's just the completionist in me

This game has been completely and utterly abandoned. No online multiplayer, no CPU matches, only same system multiplayer.

This game just makes me sad when I think about it. The premise is great, the gameplay is chaotic yet fun, the designs are awesome and the soundtrack is top-notch. There's just one small thing holding this game back from potential greatness. Multiplayer is fundamentally broken. Super Slime Arena goes for the Peer to Peer approach to multiplayer - P2P isn't at all an inherently bad system, but for what this game was made for (~50 people all duking it out at once), it just seems like a recipe for disaster. Not like you're ever gonna reach 50 people, since there's nowhere NEAR enough of a dedicated playerbase to speak of that'll have the patience to coordinate with each other to join the same room. Don't even get me started on local multiplayer - even with Remote Play, anything above 10 is probably just a pipe dream, especially with how many controllers and ports for said controllers that would require. Not to mention the disappointing radio silence on JellyTeam's end.. they teased a few updates alluding to bots, a training mode, maybe a story at some point - and then they just dropped off the face of the earth. No more news, no major updates, nothing. All this game got was a few bugfixes, months after release, and nothing more. Don't get me wrong, I love Super Slime Arena and the potential the concept has. The problem is that it was released way, way the hell too soon. It's incredibly barren as far as content goes, and what remains of the community (however small it was) has long since dissipated by now.And as much as I'm holding out for JellyTeam to come back and give this thing some well-needed love.. I know deep down that it's definitely not going to happen. At least not anytime soon. Rest in peace, sweet prince.

I was lucky enough to get the chance to try Super Slime Arena during its beta at various conventions - it nails the intersection of chaos and deep, yet accessible strategy that makes a fun party game. You're on your toes constantly adapting to new changes to your abilities, to the level, and to your opponents' abilities, but the strengths and weaknesses of each slime are simultaneously obvious enough to immediately exploit and deep enough to lead to some seriously complex strategy. SSA is an excellent party game that lends itself brilliantly to picking up as a newcomer and has the replayability and depth to last you days of new discoveries and experiences.

honestly disregarding the community and bugs because its such a new game theres really no community; its a great game in every right that i enjoy and want out of a game. but i only have 1 friend to play this game with. meaning its kind of lonely without friends. i would give it an 8/10 i would like to see bots and a training or practice mode in the game.

Always fun to pull out with a big group of folks! It plays a lot like Smash, so it's good for a crowd of friends into more action-heavy games. It'll take a few games to get the hang of which slimes do what, but it doesn't take long to pick favorites (Punch is best obvs).

This game is a blast to play with friends on the same TV. Really easy to just hook up any controller lying around and have everyone play. And, I love the pixel graphics.

I love this game and its artstyle, mechanics, and numerous controller options. However, the game hasn't been updated in months and has a extremely small playerbase. I am a huge fan of the work this team made. Please publicize this game more.

I want to like the game, but due to the lack of players I can't. It's impossible to find a game online due to either the servers not working or so few people play the game no sessions pop up. It's extremely good in multiplayer as long as you have the controllers (or parsec) and the amount of people actually wanting to play. I'll change my review if the game gets more players but for now playing online is not possible due to the lack of players. If you're searching for online in this game exclusively then I can't not suggest this game enough. If you do have some friends in a local setting, though, couch play will be possible.

Super Slime Arena is a charming game that brings back that good old Kirby feel. I personally feel as if this game should be given an inbetween of a yes and no recommendation. The game is loads of fun that continues to keep me engaged in everything it has to offer and the music and graphical design are amazing. The only thing that really keeps it back is that the game still has quite a bit of bugs it still needs to work out and I personally feel as if the game should've been labeled as an early access before this since it is practically an unfinished game as to how it is currently. They are currently fixing whatever major bugs the game is suffering from, but it still has some kinks at the moment. The gameplay itself is pretty solid with each slime feeling fun and it doesn't feel like any of the slimes have any gap in how good they are in the game but by how they're played since the slimes counter others slimes through gameplay mechanics (Poison Slime vs Kick Slime). The game also doesn't have any bots (confirmed to be coming soon) or singleplayer (also now announced to be coming soon) which kind of makes it online only unless you have friends to play with you locally (to which I don't have). Also other reviewers on the steam review page will say that there isn't anyone you can play with really at all to which is kind of true, you can't just buy this game and hop on and expect to find any online games available or any people that will join your lobby when you create one. But, the only real reason I can recommend this game is because there are still people to play with online due to the community being in the steam discussions page and with there being a steam group and community discord that has people willing to play online most of the time. If you get this game, the community discord is a kind of must have if you want to be able to play online and get any enjoyment of playing the game if you don't have friends to play with locally or online. All-in-all the game is definitely fun, charming, and feels amazing to play (with some hinderances like the bugs and no bots or singleplayer available). The game is really just, what you make of it. P.S. If you actually read through all of this somehow and decided to buy the game then the community discord is right here. https://discord.gg/NBEvc5W

I love this game. I truly do, it has fun gameplay mechanics and art style. i know i have 0.4 hours on the game but i enjoyed the game. The only reason im giving it a bad recommendation is because it crashs on start now after an update, i hope the devs fix this.

It's a fun and light-hearted little game. Although too bad it does not have a single player mode, and I have never met any online players.

It seems like a really cool game and I really want to play it but no one plays online and I don't have any friends to play local with. So please someone buy this game so online mode can start booming.

I came to this game thinking I would have a good, enjoyable time playing with friends online. NOPE! Online doesnt even work. And They're not even trying to fix it. Infact, I dont even think they care about this game anymore. they havent updated this game in a 1/3 of a year. That's how much the dev's of this game care. I dont think they could care less to be honest. I spent $15 on this piece of crap game. I cannot reccommend this game at all.

Its really fun to play with your friends. Great party game. The developer is even working on online multiplayer(Beta right now), so i think this game is gonna turn out even better than it is now.

So I'm gonna amend this review by saying this: there is an active discord community. In llight of this, I can now recomend the game, somewhat. It's still buggy, and it really should have been an early access game But the devs do seem to be trying hard to push out fixes and updates, I'd say if you've got money to burn, go for it; if not, wait for the updates and a community to build. ------ Super Slime Arena commits the same sin as many indie multi titles: no bots, no single player, and no community. Unless you have friends locally, enjoy your worthless game. It's a shame though, you can tell there is a lot of potential here, and this game seems like it'd be fun with a bunch of people.

this game has alot of potential from what ive seen, however thats only really from what I have seen, I bought this game the day of realease and a week later I still havent had a chance to play the game yet as its player base is nonexistent. however I still recomend this game because it has alot of potential it just needs way more attention. if you know about this games 50 player battles imagine what this game could be like for streamers and such! if your interested in this game in the slightest I implore you to invest in it because it needs more players!
