Never listen to those who put negative reviews on this game. This game is so fun and full of amazing things. There's more to this game than meets the eye. Hoping there will be more factions to be added and massive updates. More power for the devs.

If you’re a fan of dieselpunk and RTS games, Iron Harvest on Steam is a must-try. Its gritty 1920s alternate history, drenched in dieselpunk aesthetics with hulking mechs and industrial vibes, perfectly blends with strategic real-time battles. The campaign’s rich story and faction variety make every match visually spectacular and tactically engaging. Good + for fanboys. Good for everybody else.

I want to like this game, I've been on my wishlist for years, after picking it up on sale nothing but disappointment. The main issue I have is how stupid the AI is, I don't mean the enemies I mean your own troops. Their inabilty to take cover then you tell them to, Or defend themselves when under fire. Every unit needs to be micro managed down to if they should return fire. I can't think of a case when you would want that. Another example: There are vehicles on the battle field that can be taken over by either team, if you attack a squad enough, they may abandon the vehicle. I would *expect*, that my troops would continue to fire at the squad even after they've left the vehicle... But no, you need to tell your units to attack, again. Unless you want to micromanage an entire battle field with a camera that's way too zoomed in, skip this one.

Idk man it's just boring. There is very little strategy to this game and it takes forever for anything to happen.

Love the alternate universe, have the board game version of it, Scythe, too.

A company heroes like game that take its own creative path in a steam-punk setting. It has a ton to offer, definitely worth a try.

It is a simplistic RTS but it has a fun core gameplay loop. I am hopeful for more from this in the series as the campaign story more than makes up for the simplistic RTS part of this

I wanted to like it but something just felt off. There was for sure balance issues for one but the general gameplay was just not satisfying. Shame as I really did dig the style.

Scythe is my absolute favorite board game of all time and i just love to see the 1920+ universe expanded in true RTS fashion! The mechs, the maps and the destroyable environment are its strongsuits. The multiplayer is only ever used by tryhards who will sweep the floor with you so if you dont have any friends to go up against theres only the story. Which i dont mind since it brings for more immagenative and story driven play. Kinda like a narrated wh 40k game. That being said the game might still not be the best and the air ships are definetly not balanced so i wouldnt recommend buying the operation eagle DLC. Fun casual game but one that falls flat upon repetitive or competetive play. Also the amount of menues and mechs on screen can really be stressing sometimes and i really wish there was a sharprer limits for the amount of troops you can have. The units themselves are stupid and will absolutely do nothing at all if you dont order them to, forcing you to micro manage and often times spread thin. Other than that i dont really have any complaints since its athmosphere, music and animation really bring alive the 1920+ universe and makes me even more excited to return to the boardgame! Which i highly recommend you play if you think this astethic is even remotely attractive or are in to strategy games. Im putting my review as negative since i dont think the game holds up on its own, and is really just a immersive fantasy break for players of the boardgame.

You should play it. It’s far too fun not to. If you’re wondering what the game is about it is not a farming game. It is a game about World War II, but Poland and everybody else decided to get meccas

great idea that really brings to life the works its based off of, ai pathing is an issue but doesnt affect gameplay all that much, some minor bugs in the story but nothing requiring more than a restart. the story was good for an rts, but right as it was getting good it basically ends and we are still without a sequel so it rings more hollow. worth the price, unique and well designed, looking forward to what else they have to offer in the coming years.

I just finished the campaign and it was ok, not great though. Like some others have pointed out the tactics are more about blobbing your units against the enemy, at least in the campaign. Story was good and bad. I liked how real historical characters are incorporated into the narrative I wasn't expecting that. You have to play as each faction and everything ties together which I also liked. What I didn't like was the girl boss stuff, the game could've done without that for sure. I know the game is operating on an alternate historical timeline with mechs, but to have 3 out of your 5 protagonist type characters be female, all of which are ultra competent and taken seriously almost immediately by the military units of their respective countries when they start girl bossing, is laughable. It isn't She-Hulk Attorney At Law, level girl bossing but it's annoying enough. This assessment doesn't include the DLC's, I haven't played those yet. Overall I recommend the game for the aesthetics and the combat which can be pretty fun.

When playing this game, it feels like there was a lot more thought put into propaganda than into the game itself. The campaign is fun if you can bear with the endless propaganda and bad writing. The game-play is not very good, there is very little strategy behind the game itself, if you spam enough units you can get by without thinking much about tactics, the game can be very buggy at times. The graphics are pretty, and it seems there was a cool idea for the game, but the execution of it is pretty bad. I would not recommend buying it if you actually like strategy games.

I just like playing the skirmishes so far. The campaign has one of the worst tutorials in any RTS game I've ever played. I could not make it too far as the story and cinematics put me to sleep. There is definitely a learning curve to the mechanics and the AI can be unforgiving past Easy, but I was always a casual RTS guy so mileage may vary. It's a fun game still and definitely worth it on sale.

🎖️ Iron Harvest — A Dieselpunk RTS Done Right 🕐 Hours Played: [Your playtime here] 🗓️ Release Date: 2020 🎮 Genre: Real-Time Strategy (RTS) ✅ Pros 🎨 Stylish dieselpunk visuals – Beautiful graphics and distinct art direction that still hold up 2+ years later. 🧠 Tactical gameplay with depth – The unit cap and lack of overwhelming numbers force strategic play. Feels more grounded. 🛠️ Unique world-building – A gritty alternate 1920s setting with believable factions, iconic units (🐻 yes, bears), and rich backstories. 📖 Great single-player campaign – Missions feel meaningful with objectives like escorting civilians, holding train lines, and rallying scattered forces. 🎭 Surprisingly engaging story – For an RTS, the narrative and characters are far more fleshed out than expected. ⚔️ Multiplayer and co-op support – Fun if you’re into online skirmishes or playing with friends. ✈️ DLC adds variety – New heroes, factions, and airships expand the already solid gameplay. ⚠️ Cons 🧭 Pathfinding issues – Units sometimes split or take illogical routes (especially painful when MG nests are involved). 🌳 Limited tech/build tree – Simpler than deeper RTS games like Wargame or Company of Heroes. 🔁 Occasional repetitiveness – Some mission structures can feel familiar after a while. 🧐 Verdict If you're an RTS fan who grew up on Command & Conquer, Red Alert, or World in Conflict, Iron Harvest is a worthy addition to your collection. It brings classic gameplay with a modern presentation, a cohesive story, and a refreshingly unique setting. While it has a few rough edges, it’s an RTS experience with heart, style, and plenty of diesel-powered mechs. 🗳️ Score: ⭐⭐⭐⭐✰ (8.5/10) “A lovingly crafted, story-rich RTS with bear-mounted mechs and gritty warfare. Recommended for strategy veterans and dieselpunk fans alike.”

Iron Harvest is the kind of game where mechs stomp across muddy fields, soldiers shout in Polish, German, or Russian – and this time, you actually understand them (at least if you're from Central Europe). And even if you don't, you can feel they mean business. At first glance, it looks like a classic RTS – bases, resources, units. But then a three-meter dieselpunk mech with a minigun arm stomps out from behind a barn, and you realize Iron Harvest doesn’t play by traditional rules. This is history mixed with brutal sci-fi, and it works surprisingly well. Graphics? Wonderfully gritty. Every battlefield looks like a mix of war documentary and steampunk painting – mud, snow, debris, sparks. And when a mech walks through a house someone clearly built with love… well, it's gone now. Sounds? Top-notch. Gunfire has real weight, mechs creak and roar like angry tractors, and the voice acting feels authentic and grounded. The mix of Polish, German, and Russian gives the game the feel of an actual alternate history – not just some generic “military action” fluff. Gameplay? Classic RTS with a juicy twist. No insane micro required – the focus is on positioning, cover, and smart unit combinations. The mechs aren’t just flashy – each one has its own combat style, strengths, and weaknesses. And then there are the heroes – not just “stronger units,” but true tactical game-changers. Campaign? Surprisingly good. It plays like a war drama mixed with fantasy, with characters that actually have motivations and some emotional depth. Plus – animated cutscenes and dialogue that don’t make you cringe (and sometimes even surprise you). Multiplayer is fast, tense, and yes – occasionally brutal. But even when you lose, there’s something satisfying about watching your giant mech squash a squad before going up in flames. It counts. Bottom line? Iron Harvest is a standout strategy game with an original world, great atmosphere, and a hefty dose of metal mayhem. If you miss the glory days of old-school RTS but want something with guts (and ideally powered by steam), this is the place.
