Shorter than TNO, fills in some gaps from the first game story wise being a prologue, but still stands well on it's own, and the weapons were better in this game than TNO in my opinion.

i Thoroughly enjoyed the game as it's just more of the new order, this honestly could have been a DLC to New Order, but i can understand why it wasn't. the final boss was a tad annoying, but that's my main gripe.

Back in the old days of PC gaming, when aggressive monetisation of every aspect of games was less prevalent, we had something called add-on. It was less than the base game — like ⅓ of it — and more than simple DLC we have today. It is usually added (duh!) new content like story, mini-campaign, little new mechanics or activities, while not changing much previously established experience, in one big package. It usually needed a base game to run, but sometimes it was stand-alone. And this is Old Blood. It is nothing more than stand-alone, side content of the New Order, built on mechanics of the previous game, but unfortunately does not add enough content that we should look at it as a new experience — mainly pipe as you melee weapon and tool, and entirely new campaign, with tell story about how Blazko and Alliance get to know location of Deathshead base, with new maps, two new enemies (three with end boss) and single player challenges. It focuses more on the supernatural than industrial horrors of Nazi war machine. But you cannot see Old Blood without looking at older game, because in some cases we see a clear downgrade — skills progression is simpler (and they are still obnoxious, because they are mostly a grindfest and they give a shallow bonuses like bigger clips) there is less variety of weapons — knife, pipe, pistol, assault rifle, shotgun, sniper rifle and grenade launcher, enemies are mostly the same from main game; less NPC and less focus on the story, no in-between mission hub… If you liked the New Order, you will like Old Blood. If you are irritated by New Order mechanics and gameplay, you will experience more of the same here. Examples? Well, sneaking is still shallow and annoying because we still don’t have a visibility indicator or proper level design that facilitates sneaking. Just crouch, use silencer or melee takedowns and stay behind the enemy's back. And it's clearly visible here, because we are forced to play Chapter 1 as a sneaking mission for the big chunk of the level. Or how shooting is still one big meh, because it is all hit scanning, so for the majority of time you will be hiding behind walls and obstacle to brake line of sight, plus AI is dead stupid and besides flushing you out with grenades it don’t try to push you — well except when enemies walking towards you, disregarding their own safety almost entirely. They cannot coordinate their attacks — when some of them sit behind crates, waiting for something to happen, the rest of them go after you in a straight line, and thanks to higher difficulty not giving enemies more HP, they end up dead in a blink of a second, because headshots are lethal. Your best ally in this game are doors, because you can set up a choke point and easily pick up all enemies, occasionally running away from grenades. I also don’t like how flat and mediocre guns sound. It's like shooting from an automatic BB gun rather than from a deadly weapon. The best example is when you get a double barrel — I expected a big loud “BOOM” when pulling a trigger, instead I got something resembling a wet fart. New enemies are just zombies, their strength is in their numbers, not sophisticated tactics. Combat is — again — slow, try to be more tactical, but with forcing players to actively pick up ammo, health and armor it has broken pacing. I want to shoot bad guys, not running around and frantically pressing “E” all the time, God damn it! The worst thing is how little I can write about this game that is something more than “Well, it's just like in New Order”. This is a good game if you want to have the same experience from the previous title. Buy it on Summer Sale or around QuakeCon, when ID games are the cheapest, and play it after The New Order. You probably will enjoy it more then. Or don’t, I am not your Father, I will not tell you what to do. Now. It's over. Go home or something.

Absolutely fantastic game with so much detail and love to the lore shown. Gunplay is one of the best I've played in a shooter, but sadly the game is rather short. Still worth the price and it has a lot of fun challenges after so expect 8-15 hours in this game.

Such a great game, took me a while to get the gold medals on the challenge maps. 7/10 would recommend doing the 100%

It still comes with the same issues as The New Order for those of us with a good computer or laptop, being the screen tear, and the only effective way to remove it is to minimize the window of the game, which is a nuisance. Besides that, it’s a rather short game with its own quirks and absurdities that I find charming from the series, at least from what I’ve experienced from The New Order. At best a good prelude and background to what occurs prior to the events of The New Order if you wanted a bit more. I got it on a discount, so it was a steal for how funny and interesting the story got as well as the various ways to eliminate the Nazis was just as fun as I remembered. Worth it.

Really really fun. Killing nazis always is. (Too) short though. Shooting feels great. Boss fight at the end was hard to understand at first but easy after finding out. Didn't complete all challenge maps, basically the same fights as in the story mode, nothing more.

Plot felt a little disposable compared to New Order/New Colossus but killing Nazis stays fun, I don't make the rules.

This game is an old school first person shooter in single player. As someone who loves to game but detests the multiplayer shooters as being toxic cesspits of juvenile bad behavior, this was a breath of fresh air and plenty challenging. The graphics were nice, details were spot on. There were very few glitchy elements at all that I encountered on my play through. Definitely worth the few bucks that I spent with it being on sale. Just hard enough to keep you aggravated in a motivating way.

I didn't expect much from this part. New Colossus and New Order were much more familiar to me, but I still wanted to give the predecessor a chance. I can't say that I'm overly impressed, but I can't say that it's bad either. I like the element of horror, which I think we see for the last time in this part. In the later parts, we face a bunch of robots, but here we still have what we know from Return to Castle and Wolfenstein 2009. The story is okay, but the cutscenes are less present, unlike the parts that follow. All in all, it's not bad, but I don't think you're missing out on too much if you play the sequels and not this one. His successors follow other stories, other characters, and the only characters from the last part are Blazkowicz and Fergus (at least as far as I remember). As if the parts after Old Blood suffer from almost completely neglecting some old events and even characters (half of the New Colossus characters are missing in Young Blood). Old Blood is more like DLC, but it's fun regardless.

wasnt expecting too much, watched some small gameplay footage and the castle type-ish theme didnt stick with me Then i played it and was pretty surprised about the game. 7/10 game, would murder your shitty ass dog again jager, fuck you!! Pretty short game but enjoyable, took me about 3.5 hours to beat it. Id only recommend getting it if its on sale as thats what i did

Recommend not only playing this, but playing this before New Order, both fitting the bill of prequel and upholding the "ultimate form of FPS game" merits of New Order. You will enjoy this especially if you've played the major games previous to this one, as plenty of ideas present are evolutions/mixes of previous ones. Oh, and the nightmare sequences too.

Not worth being a standalone game, nothing new compared to New Order, should've kept it a DLC for half the price a piece. The story is a lot worse, with very hollow villains and once the initial novelty
of the zombies
wears out, the game is downright boring. The final boss is awful and the story antagonist dies in a very weird, silly way. Mick Gordon does a great job with most of the soundtrack, but once you reach Wulfburg, it just turns into what sounds like a bad B movie about
zombies
, boring and repetitive. The only saving grace is the fact that its a Wolfenstein game so its a great shooter by itself and its very short, but other than for the sake of completion, you'll lose nothing by skipping this game, or at least buy it at a very steep discount.

I completed The Old Blood, but I cannot recommend it. There are several areas in the game that caused my frame rate to drop to single digits. My rig more than meets the required specs, as this is an almost ten year old game. It is just poorly optimized. The workaround I found, which did not completely solve my performance issues, was to create a file called "MachineGames" in my AppsData folder -- a fix that was recommended by someone on here. That is ridiculous. It's something that should be done for you after spending money and downloading the game. Now, one of my favorite games is The Sims 3. You have to jump through hoops and ladders to get that running on a modern machine. I mean, even to start it up, you have to follow a pretty extensive guide. What's the difference between The Sims 3 and The Old Blood? The former is, in my opinion, a masterpiece with endless possibilities and fun gameplay. The latter is not. It's a less fun version of The New Order. It's really not worth the money and the headache of getting it to run. I hate to say it because I love to [virtually] kill Nazis [in a simulated context.] Nazis are objectively evil, and they should not live. The Old Blood has that going for it, but the story is boring, the fighting is more sluggish than The New Order, and the stealth is a joke. I wouldn't recommend this game, but at least get it on a deep sale.
