Super good game, it's fun, it's awesome, and great to play before or after New Order, but it's significantly shorter than it, half as long, definitely not worth the same price as New Order, but definitely a game worth your time.

The start of this game was pretty amusing, and a great way to ease into the overall atmosphere of the experience. Then, it goes and it's very run and gun heavy when it does. You literally can not stand still or you will die, during fights. In one sense it's expected and okay, because that's a part of this franchise, but then you have other elements of stealth that were introduced that almost act as a contradiction to the fighting dynamic. To me, I found this to be a little odd, kind of like they were trying to do everything, but it wasn't cohesively thought through. The breakouts to the original game during the dream scenes were fun, and maintaining the ties to the occult as part of the overall backstory was also great. What would have been spectacular though, would have been to bring back the amulet of power and the veil, I miss the veil from the first revamp, that was a great way to bring all the magic together and add a solid cohesiveness to the story and game play. Zombies, were fun to see, and combat, but it felt a little cliche, since zombies aren't really a unique thing anymore, but it's okay. That's kind of the thing with this title, there's throwbacks and new story elements, but nothing really unique. If that pipe we started out with was the amulet of power, this game would have been next level. Bethesda, please, bring the veil back! Overall this is a fun game, the final boss scene glitches a lot at the end, and the game is kind of short, but overall I still recommend this. If you're into the franchise at all, this will keep you interested until the end.

⭐ Not Recommended (2/10) Played ~5 hours, survived 5 chapters, lost a bit of my soul. So... I came here expecting some classic Wolfenstein fun — cool story, badass moments, and awesome Nazi-smashing action. Instead, I got trapped in a never-ending tunnel simulator where the only light at the end of the corridor was more Nazis to shoot. The atmosphere? Depressing. Like Metro, but without the cool characters, emotional story, or interesting world. Just pure, soulless gloom that makes you question your life choices. The gameplay? Walk down a dark hallway → shoot the same enemies → press a switch → repeat → wonder why you're still playing. Stealth? More like "get spotted instantly and have to shoot everything anyway." And when you finally reach the "epic" finale... surprise! It's a big, boring zombie monster. How exciting. I'll give it this: the gunplay feels decent. But when you’re forced to use it every 30 seconds against the same boring enemies in the same boring places, it becomes mind-numbing. --- 🎯 TL;DR: If you enjoy walking through endless grey corridors, feeling slightly depressed, and asking yourself "what am I doing with my life?" — this game is perfect for you. If not, skip it and play The New Order and The New Colossus, where Wolfenstein actually feels alive and fun. Buy only if you're a hardcore fan who wants to play every Wolfenstein game. Otherwise, save yourself the headache.

If you like the reboot series you'll like this. It is short around 7 hours for me on UBER difficulty with a few deaths. I think its worth it

Good combat, fun fights. Mediocre everything else. 6 hours and even then it was getting a little long in the tooth at the end. I bought it for like $3 and at that price you can't go wrong.

Great game, I'd recommend after playing the new order for the ending to have the biggest impact, however playing the other way around would be pretty rewarding too as it leads right into the new order.

Wolfenstein: The Old Blood is a short but solid game that gives you a bit more of Blazkowicz’s story. Back in 2015, it was a great way to keep yourself entertained while waiting for Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus. Definitely worth playing.

This game is a fantastic addition to The New Order, to the degree that I'd consider it a separate game in the new Wolfenstein series, alongside The New Order and The New Colossus, rounding them out as a trilogy. The gameplay, the bread and butter of the game, is exceptional especially if you manage to get the game engine running on higher refresh rates. The guns are meaty, there is a great variety in detailed and gorgeous levels, while there are varied enemy types, weapons, and strategies for each. It can be as complex and as difficult as you wish. Perhaps the most remarkable thing about The Old Blood and New Order in particular is how they manage to blend some of the most pulpy and over the top Nazi killing action with much more melancholic themes in ways that compliment each other. The ending of The New Order is a standout, but so is the ending of this game. As B.J reflects on how "the monster never dies no matter how many times you kill it", you find yourself desperately hoping that the assault on Willhelm "Deathshead" Strasse's compound will go well, even if you played The New Order before this one. The soaring OST is hesitantly triumphant, as if unsure of total victory, but sure of this victory. The Old Blood is both fun, mature, and at times, quite emotional.

What a great game! I think Wolfenstein 3D was my first ever videogame experience in this lifetime so obviously it has a special place for me. Old Blood, while a short prequel to New Order, has lots of references to that original game (and even secret levels you can find and play in the form of dreams - which was awesome!). Guns and gunplay feels amazing and the story is, actually, not bad with some good character and poetic moments. Though sidecharacters quickly come in then proceed to die. However there is enough info in the collectibles you can find throughout the map if you want to know more about their backstory and lore. There's also a fairly surprising horror twist about halfway through which some may like (I did) and some may find absurd, especially considering the final boss. Level design is also excellent with some really awesome locations and deep attention to detail on environments. At times the gameplay structure did feel about repetitive in some sections, but again it's a minor thing and won't detract from the overall enjoyment. Overall I was really happy with this and I wanted to play it before trying out New Order. Also excellent soundtrack and a kickass credits theme. Just play it.

Wolfenstein The Old Blood, is my second favourite wolfenstein game! Its also the shortest one but its still incredibly good! I really likes the story, its divided in 2 parts, in the second part it goes a little off track with the introduction of zombies a little further on, but i dont see a problem with it and its still very fun! Would recommend if you also like slaughtering Nazis!

Back in the old days of PC gaming, when aggressive monetisation of every aspect of games was less prevalent, we had something called add-on. It was less than the base game — like ⅓ of it — and more than simple DLC we have today. It is usually added (duh!) new content like story, mini-campaign, little new mechanics or activities, while not changing much previously established experience, in one big package. It usually needed a base game to run, but sometimes it was stand-alone. And this is Old Blood. It is nothing more than stand-alone, side content of the New Order, built on mechanics of the previous game, but unfortunately does not add enough content that we should look at it as a new experience — mainly pipe as you melee weapon and tool, and entirely new campaign, with tell story about how Blazko and Alliance get to know location of Deathshead base, with new maps, two new enemies (three with end boss) and single player challenges. It focuses more on the supernatural than industrial horrors of Nazi war machine. But you cannot see Old Blood without looking at older game, because in some cases we see a clear downgrade — skills progression is simpler (and they are still obnoxious, because they are mostly a grindfest and they give a shallow bonuses like bigger clips) there is less variety of weapons — knife, pipe, pistol, assault rifle, shotgun, sniper rifle and grenade launcher, enemies are mostly the same from main game; less NPC and less focus on the story, no in-between mission hub… If you liked the New Order, you will like Old Blood. If you are irritated by New Order mechanics and gameplay, you will experience more of the same here. Examples? Well, sneaking is still shallow and annoying because we still don’t have a visibility indicator or proper level design that facilitates sneaking. Just crouch, use silencer or melee takedowns and stay behind the enemy's back. And it's clearly visible here, because we are forced to play Chapter 1 as a sneaking mission for the big chunk of the level. Or how shooting is still one big meh, because it is all hit scanning, so for the majority of time you will be hiding behind walls and obstacle to brake line of sight, plus AI is dead stupid and besides flushing you out with grenades it don’t try to push you — well except when enemies walking towards you, disregarding their own safety almost entirely. They cannot coordinate their attacks — when some of them sit behind crates, waiting for something to happen, the rest of them go after you in a straight line, and thanks to higher difficulty not giving enemies more HP, they end up dead in a blink of a second, because headshots are lethal. Your best ally in this game are doors, because you can set up a choke point and easily pick up all enemies, occasionally running away from grenades. I also don’t like how flat and mediocre guns sound. It's like shooting from an automatic BB gun rather than from a deadly weapon. The best example is when you get a double barrel — I expected a big loud “BOOM” when pulling a trigger, instead I got something resembling a wet fart. New enemies are just zombies, their strength is in their numbers, not sophisticated tactics. Combat is — again — slow, try to be more tactical, but with forcing players to actively pick up ammo, health and armor it has broken pacing. I want to shoot bad guys, not running around and frantically pressing “E” all the time, God damn it! The worst thing is how little I can write about this game that is something more than “Well, it's just like in New Order”. This is a good game if you want to have the same experience from the previous title. Buy it on Summer Sale or around QuakeCon, when ID games are the cheapest, and play it after The New Order. You probably will enjoy it more then. Or don’t, I am not your Father, I will not tell you what to do. Now. It's over. Go home or something.

Absolutely fantastic game with so much detail and love to the lore shown. Gunplay is one of the best I've played in a shooter, but sadly the game is rather short. Still worth the price and it has a lot of fun challenges after so expect 8-15 hours in this game.

It still comes with the same issues as The New Order for those of us with a good computer or laptop, being the screen tear, and the only effective way to remove it is to minimize the window of the game, which is a nuisance. Besides that, it’s a rather short game with its own quirks and absurdities that I find charming from the series, at least from what I’ve experienced from The New Order. At best a good prelude and background to what occurs prior to the events of The New Order if you wanted a bit more. I got it on a discount, so it was a steal for how funny and interesting the story got as well as the various ways to eliminate the Nazis was just as fun as I remembered. Worth it.

Really really fun. Killing nazis always is. (Too) short though. Shooting feels great. Boss fight at the end was hard to understand at first but easy after finding out. Didn't complete all challenge maps, basically the same fights as in the story mode, nothing more.

I have played all the new Wolfenstein game in the last couple of days in "one session" and I have to say the Old Blood is definitely my favorite entry. Having played "The New Order" first, The Old Blood significantly improved the overall gameplay - the difficulty was up, the gore was up, guards would finally be able to catch you sneaking by (ridiculous in 'the New Order') and the Perk system & overall mechanics also felt improved. The Plot of The Old Blood is beautifully campy and to experience an updated Castle Wolfenstein again, in all its evil horrifying glory, was awesome. some flaws: - still too easy - style wise not as consistent as 'the new order' -> the flame trooper for example felt really out of place style wise (yuk) - the prison level was really boring compared to the rest of the game - too short/long at times -> better pacing of some parts could've gone a long way - no nazi - zombie mode like in CoD World at War - or a mode where you can replay the game with nazi zombies from the start could've been great for rewarding perk completionists and for replay value - wasted opportunity!!!! - the end boss fight was really dumb and underwhelming (in general a problem with the new Wolfenstein games) -> funnily enough, the by far worst installment (youngblood) had the best bossfight (brother 1) because of the double jump mechanic -> boss fights are fun if daring movement is rewarded and less fun if it's only hit & run. Anyway, I'd definitely recommend 'the Old Blood' - it was fun!

I had some hopes for this, as I enjoyed the new order quite a lot, and saw some good reviews, but I found The Old Blood to be incredibly middling. It starts off decently enough, with a good character interaction (the hot dog scene) and a big shootout. Great stuff. Then it takes your weapons away and hits you with what feels like an hour of the most uninspired stealth sections imaginable. You wait for robots that move back and forth on a track, then turn off their power and kill them. Repeat that around 15 times, and there's your first impression – the defining opening hour. To me, this isn't even gameplay. There's no skill involved, it's just tedious waiting. If you wait well enough, you make it past the section – if not, you get gunned down. Not so great. After this it kind of regains its footing, since you actually get a firearm, and are allowed to shoot nazis again. But even the shooting started to become a source of tedium, because around 60-70% of the scenarios are exactly the same: a semi-open area with one or two commanders, and some patrolling guards. If you want an easy fight, you sneak in and take out the commanders first. If you want it hard, go in guns blazing and try not to get overwhelmed by the reinforcements. I'm not saying this is necessarily bad, like, the guns feel good, and you can blow people's head off, but some more variety would've been nice. I can't speak for everyone, but I go into autopilot when I encounter the exact same type of fight for what feels like the 20th time. You're not enjoying yourself, you're just repeating what you've done a thousand times before. It was really refreshing when they mixed it up though – there was one section on a gondola that stood out in a positive sense – but the majority of the game was really damn repetetive. Not so great. The last third was completely underwhelming. You have more of the same gameplay, and then nazi-zombies arrive – which add absolutely nothing to the gameplay. They die after one shot to the head from the assault rifle. If you have a functioning arm, and at least one eye, they pose zero threat. After a while, downed nazis start turning into zombies upon death. So, you go from shooting them once in the head, to twice. Crazy gameplay switch-up! Then the game throws a god-awful final boss fight at you and ends after 5 hours. Not great. If you've played it, or know the opening of the new order, then you know that the main motivation in the old blood is pointless. You're hunting for the plans, for a mission that is going to fail at the start of New Order. That's always a great driving force in your story – pointlessness. TNO isn't winning any pulitzers, but it was engaging, and had interesting characters that you cared about. Old Blood doesn't have time to set up any characters and make you care for them, so even though it tries to tug at your heart strings with character moments, deaths and sacrifices, none of it lands. I really wanted to enjoy this, but pretty quickly I found myself so uninspired and bored that I just wanted this to be over. I finished it more as a courtesy than out of enjoyment.
