Best arena shooter of all time. Random fact: The bots can respond to your messages. Only negative is the menu is a bit buggy on my PC.

After finally playing it for the first time in 2025, I can say this classic arena shooter improves on Quake II in almost every way. The soundtrack is intense, the weapons are satisfying, and the maps are superbly designed. Visually and thematically, it’s much closer to Quake I, which I prefer over the grimy, industrial style of Quake II. There’s no real campaign, but you can run any map against bots, and the AI is remarkably advanced for its era. I was genuinely impressed by how well it performs. While the arsenal is good, I do miss some of the punchier weapons from Quake II, like the super shotgun, chaingun, and railgun. Because everything is geared toward multiplayer, a lot of the balancing issues from Quake II are largely absent, and the Quake III maps feel better thought-out. My only gripe is that on modern PCs the game displays in a square window on widescreen monitors, and sometimes your desktop remains stuck in that aspect ratio even after you quit (restarts don’t always fix it), which can be annoying. There are a few other minor bugs, too. There are probably workarounds, but it's still annoying. Overall, a 9.5/10 experience, though the Steam version could use some technical polish.

It was kinda fun. It wasn't worth the money. Movement is smooth, the vibe is forsure the 90's. Which i guess is the point. I was hoping to get rolled by some sweaty OG's but that didn't happen. Fun for a minute but no real urge to keep p[laying. Best part- Winning Worst part- Paying. Would i recommend it? Not really , unless you';re an oldhead looking for some nostalgia. 6.5/10 https://youtu.be/V3H1GSXqQKE

the classic arena game that still fun to play despite it's aging graphics. well balanced gameplay with almost no skill ceiling , offer a decent offline single player mode with bots if you don't want to bother playing online , bots in quake 3 should offer a challenge for most players and they are very tough on the highest difficulty. a decent amount of maps and most of them are well built , anyone who like old school fps should give this one a try if they don't already know what quake 3 is.

A classic. Simple, yet very fun shooter with amazing design, game play and even story/character ideas. I do have nostalgia hitting hard so modern audiences might not appreciate it as much without it, but it's still a great game!
