Good wargame but no PVE except scenarios. Skirmish vs ai binded to 3 players vs 3 bots. Waiting until fixes

I love this game. I really do. BUT ADD A PENALTY TO LEAVERS AND A SURRENDER OPTION. I go 5 games in a row where my team leaves and it wastes so much time. Overall, great game, just needs a few tweaks.

No idea why they made the game PvP first. It seems like singleplayer was secondary. But other than that, it is good. I do hope PvE gets improved. I prefer the actual gameplay to WARNO.

I love playing these games in PVE, but this is unplayable. A 90 minutes or more campaign mission and you cant save? Wtf. Im a dad, I have other things to do. I cant sit 2 hours in front of the pc. Wtf devs. Oh and those missions are hard, so you need several tries.

I played during the open alpha and beta testing, focusing mainly on multiplayer and to be honest, I had a blast. However, I expected much more from the full release. The lack of a save feature in single-player mode is a major letdown. The game is barely playable against AI, and having AI teammates without the ability to save progress makes it frustrating. It’s also disappointing that there are no advanced options to set up a custom game something that would have been a huge plus. If you're someone who likes to hop in for a quick multiplayer session or resume a single-player game when time allows, this isn’t the game for you not in its current state. Missions can take 1–2 hours maybe more depends on your play style , and without a save feature, that’s simply not manageable for many. Performance-wise, while frame rates are stable, optimization seems questionable. With all settings maxed out on a 4080 super x AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D , my GPU felt like it was sitting next to a pizza oven. The game is absolutely hammering it, which doesn’t feel justified by the visuals alone. The gameplay mechanics, unit design, and overall feel are genuinely brilliant I love that part. But with missing features and glaring issues, this still feels like an unfinished product. As much as I enjoyed the core experience, I can't recommend it just yet. Hopefully future updates turn it into the game it has the potential to be.

Broken Arrow is everything I secretly wished for as a Wargame Red Dragon PvE player, it's a great game, especially now that they removed all restrictions for skirmish.

Unit customisation is fantastic, almost everything has upgrades/sidegrades and you can even change soldiers loadout as you see fit
Units, despite being limited in numbers, are effectively infinite, when destroyed they will be available again after a cooldown. Low unit numbers also limit doomstacking
Almost all aspects of modern warfare are present and fleshed out, except offensive jammers, which I hope to see in the game one day
Unlike Eugen's AI, this one is actually decent
Transport units are extremely more flexible compared to Red Dragon, they can haul infantry, vehicles and supplies at the same time and can be called or withdrawn as needed
Supplies can be moved around or even withdrawn from the battlefield with logistic vehicles
Workshop integration means a much better modding environment compared to Red Dragon, and judging from the game files we will be able to mod in custom maps, scenarios and even units!
New factions (China, Germany, Sweden and the Baltic Sisters) are basically confirmed at this point, during the tutorial you can already see some western european vehicles and infantry
The soundtrack is AMAZING
From a purely PvE perspective, it's a solid 9/10 already.

When i can save my single player campaign mid game i'll change my review. Why make a game like this and not allow single player campaign to be saved? Some of these levels last a very very long time, not being able to save or pause is bullsh$%t

As fun as this game is, i cannot in good faith say this game is any fun for players who enjoy singleplayer. If PVP is your thing then go for it, however if your intending on playing this game for a good singleplayer RTS its not there yet. AI practically cheat and gets 400x the amount of tickets as you, causing every engagement to turn into one infantry vs 200 tanks and planes with no chance of countering. fix pls

I wanted to like this game so badly. I loved games such as World In Conflict back in the late 2000s and was psyched when I saw this developer was trying to recreate that style of game. I played the demo and loved it and have eagerly been anticipating the release. Cut to today, launch day and I dive in to the campaign and boy howdy the writing is terrible. The characters are cartoony at best and just plain insulting at worst. The dialog is laughable and sounds like a made-for-tv A&E movie. So I thought I would give the skirmish mode a try. I'm not big into PVP modes and I enjoy playing against the AI. I was floored by how little customization you can do to your own private lobby games. You can have up to 5 AI players but you can't have any AI on your side, forcing me to only play against 1 AI player. The only battlegroups you can assign to the AI are only the ones the devs have put in themselves and not the ones you create in the armory. There are zero details about which map you are choosing - how many hold points there are, starting locations etc until you are actually in the game. There are no other modes to play except the generic take and hold mode. I feel like these are pretty standard quality of life features expected in most modern RTS games these days. All in all, very disappointed with this game and will unfortunately be refunding.

as soon as game starts, someone leaves the game and you have to play 2v5, out of fucking 8 matches you play like 3v5 or 2v5. LEAVING THE GAME MUST BE PUNISHABLE!!!

only rts game i ever installed that didn't let me play vs bots. need 3 people to play vs ai is crazy. After playing for a bit i'm swapping to positive because it is actually a fun game but they really should let you play against AI. I didn't really want to grief my teammates learning the controls on my first match.

Game is not finished. Needs an early access tag, advanced access doesn't cut it. Needs another year of development unless the devs have a HUGE day 1 patch. You've been warned. To summarize my full review Cannot save mid-mission. No pausing/time controls in pve skirmish. pve skirmish is not ready/not balanced/not enjoyable. Edit: High number of disconnects in pvp reported (devs hav pushed a day 1 patch to try to help mitigate this but it is a band-aid fix something more robust coming.) No overall unit overlay to quickly view what units you have on the field so if you forget where you put something, you have to manually hunt it down. Some (at least one) campaign missions are completely broken/unplayable (dev seems aggressive in fixing this already at least 1 hotfix out) To the folks in the comments saying "why am I complaining about pve in a pvp game." The game has four game modes, THREE of which include/revolve around pve content. Just because you play pvp doesn't mean there isn't a HIGH number of people who are going to buy this and never touch pvp. Those folks deserve and are going to get the rundown on that content from me. Game breaking bugs in campaign, cant pause the game (in pve skirmish), pve skirmish is unfinished/not enjoyable/unbalanced. Cannot save the game mid mission. This goes for both pve skirmish and the campaign. The campaign missions can be quite long. Some instances of ai cheating can feel rather bad/unfair. (One mission with artillery that can spot your units no matter what you do/where you move them, forcing you to use unrealistic bum rush/suicide tactics.) They haven't even put in a "Restart Mission" button. If you mess up and want to start the mission over, you have to go back to the main menu, select the mission again, go thru the cut-scenes (they're skippable but the opening mission dialogue is not), this forces you to go thru 2 load screens whereas a restart mission button would only result in one. Though the missions can be easy to not fail, some are brutal to do well on without restarting multiple times. No restart mission button is made worse by the inability to save during a mission. Often there are multiple extensions to the operating area that you didn't plan for/realize would come into play and this can leave your men in vulnerable/bad positions causing them to get absolutely wrecked. I've seen reports of alot of disconnects happening in multiplayer games. Some or all of which apparently are not the fault of the devs but bear that in mind for you pvp folks. I disagree with some of the choices by the devs in the campaign to at times come just short of giving you what you really need to accomplish a task remotely effectively. (what kind of marine task force assaults a beach/harbor without SEAD assets? tf.) I'm sure ive left some stuff out, will update review as game changes. I was really looking forward to this game, I hope they fix it. Edit: Some additional info on the pvp side. With the high number of disconnects being reported, i've seen players complaining that their matches more often than not come down to which team had more players dc. Ranked play is only active atm for 5v5. Also to reiterate my original review, there IS a pause function for the campaign and the pve scenarios at launch. The pause function is NOT available in skirmish matches against a.i.. Further. the devs are currently treating ALL skirmish matches as ONLINE play, there has already been at least one user banned from online play for using cheat engine. (This was a comment thread on the discussion board and confirmed by the devs. So BEWARE do not use 3rd party programs in skirmish mode EVEN IF ONLY PLAYING VS AI!) The devs explanation atm for this seems to be that due to the fact that skirmish mode whether vs ai or not contributes to a players profile experience gain/accolades etc. (Not ranked pvp though) Therefore any use of 3rd party programs, even if only used against ai armies in-game, creates an unfair advantage for the purposes of tracking acheivements/profile xp etc.

Game has some kinks but I'm really loving it. Looking forward to some future updates which hopefully will add some more PvE options, as I'm not really big on the PvP game modes and would like some options to play with my friends against bots (Like a coop campaign would be awesome). All in all its one of the best RTS games I have ever played in a long time and I highly suggest it to any fans of the genre!

A great Modern Warfare RTS. I played about 15 hours of the campaign so far, and it's awesome. Reminds me a lot of World In Conflict, my favorite RTS (until now?). Can't wait for all the player-made SP content and realism mods. All i miss for now is AI allies in Skirmish mode, a nice map editor, and an SP mode like Army General in WARNO (some kind of procedural campaign that can be replayed infinitely). I'll be playing this for years and years to come, and i'm already looking forward to (hopefully coming) official DLC.

One of the Best RTS Games Right Now—But Also One of the Most Frustrating This game is, hands down, one of the best real-time strategy (RTS) experiences currently available. The gameplay is exceptionally well-designed: units are detailed, the scale of the maps is massive, and everything feels immersive and satisfying. In terms of raw potential and scale, you probably won’t find another RTS like this in 2024. It feels like a dream project for fans of large-scale tactical warfare. But despite how great it could be, I honestly can’t recommend this game right now—and here’s why. First, optimization is a serious issue. Even with my RTX 4060Ti, the game stutters, freezes randomly, and crashes more often than it should. This shouldn't happen on mid-to-high-end rigs. It’s also incredibly hardware-intensive without clear justification. Next comes the bugs—so many of them. There are minor bugs that are surprisingly persistent: frozen models, invisible units, units that stop responding to commands, and enemy troops that your units somehow can’t see despite being in plain sight. These things may not happen every game, but when they do, they ruin the experience. Balance is another major problem. Currently, the Russian faction is blatantly overpowered. Their units are cheap and incredibly strong, allowing players to spam low-cost soldiers and win effortlessly. Meanwhile, the U.S. faction is burdened by ridiculously expensive tanks and infantry that barely match up. This imbalance makes matches feel more frustrating than strategic. The skirmish mode with AI is also weirdly limited. You can’t even assign AI teammates, which makes no sense for a strategy game. On top of that, the EXP rewards for playing against AI are laughably small, even though the AI itself is brutally difficult—often exploiting the game far more than any human opponent. But the worst part—and I mean this sincerely—is the rampant cheating, especially from Chinese players. Almost every single session I queue into ends up with at least one hacker using speed hacks, infinite ammo, teleporting tanks, and other absurd exploits. And they’re not even trying to hide it. It’s everywhere, every day. I’m honestly shocked that the developers haven’t taken more serious action. I had so much fun in the beginning. The core of the game is truly promising. But at this point, the combination of performance issues, imbalanced gameplay, and widespread cheating has made me want to quit. If things don’t improve soon, this game is heading toward the same fate as Star Wars Battlefront II—a great game ruined by lack of oversight and enforcement. Fix the cheating. Fix the balance. Fix the bugs. Only then can this game live up to its massive potential.

WARNING: Game has a learning curve but once you start to grasp the mechanics and strategies its start to get more and more fun. SAVE FILES: Please add this for mid mission progress for PvE. The game can pause mid mission already so this should be an easy update. Make the file save local so you save money on cloud servers. SCENARIOS: I would love to see battles scenarios that you can just jump into for PvE. CUSTOM BATTLES: I would also love to see a tool to customize scenarios and add to steam workshop for others to play.

Still good but desperately needs proper pve elements, such as friendly ai. It is not possible to play solo against the AI atm but the devs did say it will be added down the line. Why this wasn't added during the long development time is beyond me but clearly they were catering to the multiplayer crowd and not even trying to listen to the pve crowd. No surprise there as the multiplayer crowd is always the most vocal and tends to not shut up, but what devs fail to realize about multiplayer kids is that their attention span gives out after 2 minutes. Still check out this game its worth it for a modern era rts game with the knowledge that proper pve and possibly future nations added down the line.

NECESSARY IMPROVEMENTS: 1. Save inside campaign missions. 2. Match history. 3. Save replay option. 4. Region select (EU, CIS, ASIA, AMERICA) 5. Sentinel nerf. 6. 1v1 ranked. 7. DLSS DLAA as well as FSR support. 8. Invidia low latency. 9. Unload units when you call them in (like in Warno, SD2) 10. Overall performance improvements. In short, great game, just needs some polishing.

I absolutely recommend this game however there is a massive russian bias... its bad.. really bad... and players are starting to seriously exploit the broken t-15 barbaris.. theres no reason a troop transport with a 57mm gun should be better than a abrams tank... the bradley and the t-15 should be equals in function and effectiveness even the usa striker transports are dull in comparison.. which in theory would be the best way to counter.. but nope the striker transports get picked off easy.... also the hit boxes on alot of the russian troops is broken.. the t-15 should get obliterated when hit on the top based on its armor but yet it doesnt.. its making me mad and players are exploiting this way too much and russian units are cheaper and easier to overrun enemy with.. so anyways im recommending this game but if the russian bias stays im changing this to a much more detailed and angry review and not recommending it..

Overall positive - The game has its issues, but the concept has the potential to be one of the greatest if not best modern RTS games of all time. Bad - The game has a problem with common crashes and frequent disconnections from game. There are also a few balancing issues that have carried over from the beta (This is still early access tho). There was also a big problem in the beta with cheaters which has mostly been rectified however i do still believe is present. Good - The game offers a wide array of unit customisation and multiple factions from both the US and Russian military. The game looks beautiful and has engaging gameplay that always keeps you thinking. Overall - I would recommend this game, HOWEVER, £60 for pre-order and £40 for standard edition is a bit on the expensive side. If i was looking to buy the game i would wait for a few weeks to months to watch reviews and wait for the game to finish with balancing tweaks and for the price to drop slightly.

On the 16th, the game launched into it's three day Early Access. Everyone's biggest complaint? No 1v1 or 2v2 in skirmish mode. On the 17th, the next day, patch released fixing that issue. Set aside the devs listening to user's complaints, the game itself is wonderful. My favorite part is the unit customization, especially on aircraft/helicopters, want a tank-killing Apache? Done, want to instead equip that Apache to shred apart buildings full of infantry? Done. Want to drop a nuclear bomb from a B-1 Lancer? Or to carpet bomb two straight miles? Both are available. I am loving this game and enjoy the gameplay of this much more than the Wargame series.
Works on Linux ✅
i dunno what anti-cheat they're using, but it works on linux under steam proton as of advance access. i'm using GE-Proton 10.4, but i tested and proton 10.1 beta and stock work too. it's looking pretty good so far. performance can be a wee bit munted at times, oddly enough in cutscenes particularly, but i don't know if that's linux or the game. seems related to the texture streaming. still would recommend it. it's giving a more frantic world in conflict gameplay wise. i've played exactly one multiplayer match and we lost. it was russia v. russia. remember to bring stand off weapons. disappointed that skirmish is multiplayer players vs. bots with a minimum of three players. i think a real single player skirmish vs. bots mode is probably needed for deck testing. i haven't noticed any bugs but i'm gonna be real if there was a bug i probably wouldn't notice with all the things happening on screen at once. i'm glad to finally have my large spetsnatz sons. edit: after some experimentation following my initial review i've found this launch option works well on my machine (i use nvidia, which many linux users know is a big mistake):
gamemoderun DXVK_ASYNC=1 PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 __NV_PRIME_RENDER_OFFLOAD=1 __GLX_VENDOR_LIBRARY_NAME=nvidia __VK_LAYER_NV_optimus=NVIDIA_only %command%
edit 2: been playing a bit now, seems there's some kind of VRAM leak on linux proton while playing. i have found this launch option configuration ultimately works pretty well for me, for some reason in particular using gamescope seems to deal with the plummeting FPS in multiplayer.
PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 __NV_PRIME_RENDER_OFFLOAD=1 __GLX_VENDOR_LIBRARY_NAME=nvidia __VK_LAYER_NV_optimus=NVIDIA_only gamescope --expose-wayland
now i just have to stop being bad at the game!!

Can't recommend it at present if you're after a single player experience. This is a game more interested in multiplayer content at the moment. Can't say it looks bad though. There's some neat unit customisation available for the multiplayer battles. The unit tables are interesting though. There's military vehicles that were canceled like the RAH-66 and vehicles that exist but not in any numbers and some that appear to just be around because they're "cool" the AC-130, M/RQ-9, A-10 Warthog and F-35.

This review is for the more casual players or single player fans. This game is not it unfortunately. Id steer clear or wait for a discount. Im not huge into this genre but I thought the game looked so cool I wanted to try it. - The missions are very long (can be up to an hour or more) with no saves, and its tough. - Even the default difficulty is pretty hard. And when you lose you have to start completely over. Its a massive waste of time and frustrating. - The single player missions are very curated in what type of equipment you have access to. So if you think you're going to be rolling around with Abrams tanks and badass stuff all the time, youre not. Its fixed exactly what you have access to and it changes by mission. - And its typically setup so that you dont have access to the things that you would naturally want in a specific situation. For example if you're about to attack a bunch of enemy heavy armor... you dont necessarily get access to your own heavy armor every time. Its usually light vehicles and infantry with an emphasis on trying to move fast and out micromanage them. Well fine if someone wants to play like that, but I dont. Eat crap give me my giant tank battles. - Difficulty in my opinion crosses the line beyond challenging and too far into frustrating. The enemy typically has access to everything while you have very little. Any enemy unit (even infantry) can one or 2 shot all of your units including transports or light armor. The only durable unit you have is the Abrams tank which you dont always have access to. You dont even get full access to recon ability like the drones very often, meaning youre often advancing into waiting enemies that have full choppers, heavy tanks, artillery... its just instant obliteration. So you go "Okay... I should have gone left there and not right. Noted for next time." But often this happens when youre like 30 minutes or more into a mission then you have to start completely over. Its just a big L to lose that much time of your night. If you could just save your damn game and not lose an hour of effort every time your paper mache APCs get merked by a Russian conscript with an RPG, it might be way more tolerable. But alas not the case. - The skirmish/online mode probably fixes all this because you have access to everything, but there isn't any 1v1 AI skirmish mode. So you either have to join a 3v3 against AI or do PVP. So basically, if you like PVP or are a hardcore genre fan, ignore the above you might love it. But if youre casual and lean towards more single player play... it just wasnt made with you in mind. It does look very cool, ill give it that. If you cant resist Id at least wait till a sale.

I love these types of games, however I work a lot so my free time is very sacred to me. I do not have the time it takes to get really good so I save the game, try a tactic, if it does not work, reload and try something new. The absence of a save feature is a real kick in the crotch. Maybe I will try my hand at multiplayer. Fix the save feature, local or cloud, and I will come back to it.

My issues with the game, ranging from personal gripes to missing QoL features typical of modern games being beta test releases. - Campaign has no save feature - Skirmish mode is "ass at best" (you want to do a 1 + 2 AI vs 1 + 2 AI? No can do, tough titty) - All maps are 5v5 balanced - No replay system - No match history - Mirror matches, even when specifically deselecting mirror matches - No ability to plan in the pregame setup, as chat is disabled - No way to coordinate army groups with teammates, as you lock it in before you can communicate with said teammates - Extremely poor notification system, unless all your units are placed so they fit on one screen width you will lose units to unknown causes offscreen - Minimap is a cluttered mess to the point of it being entirely useless (exacerbating the bad notification system) - Leavers galore, enjoy over 50% of the games being decided by someone leaving after their army gets bombed - Typical of these West vs Rus games made by Russian devs there is a distinct Russian bias, essentially every game is one of mass T15s and T14s being covered with comical amounts of AA(A) (where devs/publisher are situated does not matter if the people working on the game are Russian) - Even ignoring any bias, the balance is poor, there is very little reason to even glance at about half the available roster, and certain units essentially have to be present in a deck to not be at a disadvantage - Scoreboard keeps track of K/D, an almost meaningless metric that will result in certain games haivng a teammate (or enemy) sitting at spawn spamming arty - Arty, every RTS with arty implemented in a dumb "point and click" style is worse for it and I could continue, it is a near endless list of issues of varying degrees ranging from almost game breaking to missing QoL features, that, when added all together, make it very hard to enjoy the game. The idea of the game is nice, the execution is terrible. Give it another 2 months and see what the devs can do. I regret supporting yet another dev putting out a half baked game and getting money for it in return. If you want the single player experience, go play World in Conflict If you want the multiplayer experience, this is currently the only game with a playercount that matters and is why despite all of the above I haven't ditched the game entirely (which I guess is part of the problem).

If you want this game for the single player i cant recommend it, it doesnt have a savegame feature, you can only save after finishing the mission. And since the missions can last more than one hour is annoying to say the least. No idea about the multiplayer since thats not my focus. If the developer ever adds the savegame feature ( i doubt it, since according to their latest post at the time of writting this, add a savegame option is "complex") i will change this review.

Let the devs cook this one a bit longer. Too many cheaters, the game is poorly optimized and is lacking some basic game functions, when quitting to desktop the game straight up freezes. Some people also just strait up leaves in the first 5 minutes of a match due to the most minor inconvenience so the game becomes a 1v5

Hello everyone, I really was excited about this particular game, participated in 2 open betas and saw the problems were coming. The most important - cheating and matchmaking. I haven't played a lot, only 60 hours but almost every second game I had a cheater in my or opposite team. My timezone is GMT+3 btw. Almost every single time those players are Chinese. How could I say that? Watching units being killed in a single shot, or even units those were never moved and hidden in the forest. Or the damage modifier like x3 which allows downed pilot killed a buggy like nothing. Also shooting units thru the smoke while you can't shoot back. And a lot of more examples those show you the state of multiplayer. I understand that is just a release but for God's sake you had a year literally to implement everything you need - anti-cheat and matchmaking. Matchmaking is broken since you can face a player which 200+ ELO than yours. Or vice versa. Abandonment doesn't work as intended, there is no punishment for that. No "Surrender" button when you left alone and everyone else has left the game and you have to wait until all points are captured and 2 more minutes before "Sudden death" work. It is a good game. But it is overly hyped.

I had high hopes for this game, maybe too high of an expectation. I am a huge RTS player, but this one at this state is not it for my cup of tea. 1. No save option in Solo Campaign. 2. Focuses Highly on Multiplayer (if you're good at it, you'll enjoy it) 3. Skirmish has no advanced options and playing against AI is near impossible. The AI seem to be set as Hardcore even if you choose easy. They blitz rush against you not giving you much time to be strategic. 4. Reminds me of a newly updated World in Conflict, but it lacks the beauty of it. Cannot replace the classic! Wish we get World Conflict like games in the future! 5. For all my RTS players who love base building and taking your time, this game is not it! Here is straight action and quick thinking. 6. Basically Steel Division, R.I.S.E and WARNO type gameplay. Played 2 hours, at this state I am not content. Refunded as I know this will be collecting digital dust. Maybe in 6 months or a year after updates it'll be better. Kinda tired of new games that aren't completely finished.

It is a lot of fun, I generally find pvp strategy games frustrating due to the long unbounded game times and the need to memorise build orders, but the 5v5 mode here plays more like a moba, with a fixed 45 minute round time and the ability to rely on team mates to help you make a comeback. The single player is decent but i haven't been able to do much as the missions can be very long (just as you think your finished it adds new objectives) and it has no save option. As a gamer dad I don't have hours at a time to commit to playing a mission, so have not got past mission 3 of the campaign as I always have to quit and go do something in real life.

This game has a lot of potential. I'm mostly a PVE player, and was disappointed that on release we cannot play games with AI on our team. This forced me to play PVP matches and I've been having an absolute blast. If you're a fan of games like AOE, COH2, or Total War - you should get this game.
So umm, Here's my short review for this game.

Gameplay
A modern Wargame RTS with a pretty simple objective Advance and Secure and butcher the enemy as many as you can. While the goal may seem simple, the gameplay itself is quite complex. Deck-building plays a huge role in determining how a match goes, and how well you micromanage your units can often decide the outcome. Strategy and execution really matter here. you can either be those genius tactician or brainrot spamming hordes of tank and somehow that work. AI pathfinding can be frustrating, units occasionally take weird routes but luckily there's feature like range markers, which clearly show how far your unit's weapons can reach. Super helpful when positioning units.
Graphics
I'm playing on a toaster so it doesn't matter, but on high settings? The game looks awesome. Explosions, missile trails everything feels intense and exciting to watch.
PvP
Is it fun? Definitely if you’re playing with friends. With random teammates, it turns into a awkward social experiment. Sometimes you get a solid team, sometimes you'll get teammate that disconnected and never return just like someone’s dad went out for milk and never came back. Cheaters exist just like other games, expect to see Abrams or Armatas shooting like Gatling guns, or artillery units firing non-stop. Thankfully, the devs are actively banning cheaters. Just record the match and report it on their Discord if you see anything fishy.
PvE
This game force you to get out from your Introvert habit, get a friend bro cuz there's no Friendly AI in Skirmish mode. The campaign is fun but annoying sometimes since you can’t save mid-mission (though the devs are aware and might fix this). Custom scenarios are cool check out player-made missions in the Workshop. Some even have custom cutscenes and unique objectives. Definitely worth exploring.
Deck Building
This is the core feature that makes the game stand out. You can tweak units to be cheaper by removing their loadouts or go all out with expensive, fully-equipped ones. Whether you're going for a quantity over quality strategy or the other way around, it's all about tailoring your deck to your playstyle. The best part? Just have fun with it.
Bugs
Even though the game is out of beta, some old bugs are still hanging around. One of the biggest issues is that you can’t reconnect if you disconnect mid-match which can be super frustrating if your internet drops for even a second (you can reconnect if you lucky enough by restarting your game). There are also times when matches just freeze up or players get randomly disconnected. One especially annoying bug happens when the match starts, but the game refuses to let you spawn any units, leaving you with no choice but to stare into the screen and watch your team get clapped or leave the match. So yeah, sometimes I don’t really blame players for leaving early that bug definitely exists. There are a few visual glitches too, like random green terrain or missing unit markers, which can make things confusing during a match. Hopefully these issues get patched soon, because the game really does have potential when it’s running properly.
Performance
Running this game on my toaster i7-4770, and RX 580 8GB, with 16GB of RAM is a bit like asking a grandpa to sprint he can do it, but he might wheeze a little along the way. At the start of each match, the game stutters like it just woke up and forgot where it was. Sometimes, mid-match, it stutter. But besides the stutter, it actually runs pretty well, sitting at a surprisingly decent 30–50 FPS for my toaster.
So.... is it worth buying?
Not really if you're only in it for the PvE. The PvE content doesn’t justify the price on its own. But if you're into PvP and love strategic RTS gameplay with deep deck-building mechanics, then yes that's where the game shines.

Singleplayer: Lacks save/load and a dedicated restart button during missions. Unskippable in-game cutscenes. If you want to play mostly for the campaign, I'd wait for it to go on-sale or when save/load is at least implemented. Multiplayer: Excellent, assuming none of the people leave the match, which there should be a penalty for. (Not being able to queue up for x amount of time, increasing the more times they leave matches in a period?). There is no greater joy than seeing your team coordinate a massive bombing run/Artillery barrage on a point and then rushing in to take it. Wish the devs would add a way to see exactly what units your allies are bringing. Seeing their specialization is still too vague (I.E Is someone bringing Airborne because he's gonna focus alot on airpower or just because he wants transport choppers/planes?) Also add a way to report cheaters. EDIT: There IS a way to report cheaters during a match but I haven't seen the option to do that post-match.

My PC's specs are below recommended and there's no frame generation, but this game seems to be really optimized! It's like Warno but you won't hurt your fingers from endless micromanagement, the units can actually think for themselves when they should, and there's a lot of Quality of Life missing from Warno. Also, there's a good tutorial and the story is is pretty cool. Unfortunately, this game isn't finished yet. Campaign missions can take nearly two hours to complete, and you can't save mid-mission at all. Also, sometimes the game stops responding and crashes, meaning either you get disconnected from multiplayer and lose Elo, or you lose a lot of progress in a campaign mission since you can't save...

Personally the game is incomplete, no offline skirmish mode, AI is awful, good luck if you want to play with a team of AI's. The community managers seem tone deaf and most of the community goes on a schizophrenic rant about EULA and how the company can do whatever they want.

Buyer Beware: This game is far from finished and should unequivocally be an Early Access title, not 'Advanced Access.' It appears to require at least another year of dedicated development, assuming a substantial day-one patch isn't a miraculous fix. You've been warned – proceed with caution. My full review highlights numerous critical flaws: No Mid-Mission Saves: This is a major issue in both the campaign and PvE skirmish, especially given the length of some campaign missions. PvE Skirmish Issues: The PvE skirmish mode lacks basic features like pausing or time controls, and its balance and overall enjoyability are severely lacking. It feels incomplete. Poor Unit Management: There's no overall unit overlay, making it frustrating to quickly locate units you've deployed on the battlefield. Broken Campaign Missions: Several campaign missions are completely unplayable due to game-breaking bugs. While the developers seem to be hotfixing some issues, the current state is unacceptable. Lack of Essential QoL Features: The absence of a 'Restart Mission' button is particularly grating. If you need to restart a mission, you're forced through multiple load screens and unskippable dialogue, making trial-and-error gameplay incredibly tedious. AI Imbalance/Cheating: Some AI behaviors, like artillery spotting units through all cover, lead to unfair and unenjoyable gameplay experiences. Questionable Design Choices: Certain campaign design decisions, such as not providing necessary assets for specific tasks (e.g., SEAD for beach assaults), undermine tactical realism and player agency. Multiplayer Concerns: While not directly developer-related, there are frequent reports of multiplayer disconnects that PvP players should be aware of. I had high hopes for this game, and I sincerely hope the developers can address these significant shortcomings. 19JUN25 Issues: Nukes caused everyone to disconnect Carpet Bombing caused everyone to disconnect arty shots from 8 arty vicks caused everyone to disconnect. doesnt matter who hosts.

The game is defintely catered more towards hardcore players, but it's not inaccessible to casual players who are willing to take on the learning curve. It's as addicting as it is frustrating, but that's what to expect going into a game like this. In short, campaign/PvE needs a lot of work. If you're not comfortable sinking an hour plus into a single mission, the campaign can be grueling, which isn't helped by the frequent dialogue forcing you out of fast-forward and relevant information not being present in the mission briefing. On the other hand, PvP is the near-masterpiece we've been expecting. The level of customization is wonderful, and they only have 2 nations so far, Russia and the US. Personally, I'm hoping they'll add China and the EU soon too. I'd say if you're into modern military tech and are looking for a competetive multiplayer RTS similar to World in Conflict or Total War minus resource management, this game is a good choice.

Multiplayer is already completely overrun with cheaters. I don’t know how their tanks are firing like machine guns or why artillery is magically homing in on my units and insta-killing everything; but it’s obvious this game has next to zero anti-cheat protection, and it shows. The game has been out for a few days and it's already a mess online. How does that even happen? As for the campaign, it’s just as broken. I tried a Russian mission where you're supposed to defend a power plant. The first couple of waves came in, and then, nothing. After capturing an officer, the entire mission just stalled. I sat there for over an hour waiting for something, anything, to happen. No new enemies spawned. No progression. I even moved all my troops out of cover and let them get slaughtered, hoping the game would at least register a defeat. Nothing. Just dead silence on an empty battlefield. I restarted the mission, and sure enough; it broke at the exact same point again. I was genuinely excited for a proper spiritual successor to World in Conflict. What I got was a broken campaign, a multiplayer warzone of cheaters, and the overwhelming sense that this game needed months more work before release.

amazing game! Russian bias was (in the betas) insane, but still a great game!

Let me start off with the game overall, it's not a bad game at all, they really put a lot of work into this - the unit design, music, etc. But there's a few big problems I have with the game: - The biggest one: There's a lot of people that just leave in PvP if they start losing, you don't get punished for it, they just leave and join the next match. While yes, you do get more income, it's just 1) very stupid and 2) you can only micromanage so many units - The PvE/Skirmish AI only gets one specialisation but has way more income than you, so it just overwhelms you with no tactics whatsoever. - The Matchmaking does not respect the "Accept Mirror Matches" option, it will just randomly mirror match you.

Amazing RTS to play with friends. I could never get into wargame red dragon, but this feels way easier to get into without losing depth. Definitely geared towards 5v5 online play, it is the best way to play the game even if other modes are available. It launched without 1v1 vs AI but they heard the complaints and added it within a day, so the devs seem to listen.

Lacks basic Save functionality mid-mission. Good luck playing this if you have real life responsibilities.

Hey everyone, from a slightly above average RTS player that's played RTS's since as long as I can remember, and from someone that's been following this game for some time. Here is my humble review. 1. To quickly address the single player although it would be cool if all the features were in that you're all asking for this game was never marketed as having a great single player experience, it's more of a bonus. Like when you buy a Battlefield game sure some of the campaigns are cool but the real meat and potatoes most people come for is the multiplayer. I'm also sure the QOL changes that are being asked for at some point will be in the game. 2. Before even talking about gameplay let's talk the deck building since it's what everything is centered around. Let's be real a lot of us are menu merchants who spend too much time theory crafting a perfect deck than actually playing. Finding a combination of troops that fit your style of play and getting into a rhythm with them is a great feeling. Especially if you have buddies (use the discord if you gotta) to strategize with on who is going to bring what and cover each others weaknesses it adds a whole level or nerdiness that's appreciated. You can easily lose hours just finding different combinations of units, and loadouts each with pros and cons. There's plenty of YouTube content covering the Armory I would recommend. Or If you want to get a taste for building your own deck head here -> https://ba-hub.net/editor/new - if you're uncomfy with a link just search ba-hub in your browser. 3. To keep it 100 especially if you are new to this genre, the game is hard, it's a high skill floor and and even higher skill ceiling. You are going to get your a** kicked for the first few days unless you're some prodigy but it's going to be rough. To be even more clear if I need to be this is not a game where you can play the tutorial then go head first into multiplayer and be wildly successful, this game rewards patience, counters, planning, maneuvering, knowing your own and the enemy's units etc... All of this takes time to learn but once you have the "I understand it now" moments the game really shines. Key-binds become 2nd nature, you can react faster, play without anxiety and actually enjoy the eye candy going on. Stick with the game and it will reward you I promise. It sounds elitist now but once you get hold of the basics you'll understand why I say this. 4. I think the regular multiplayer matches are important to cover since it's the primary mode you'll most likely play so lets talk about it. They're 5 vs 5 with 45mins of length broken down into 3 phases. There's two score types, the first is you'll notice points around the map you and the enemy will fight for (you can go to ba-hub the site I linked earlier to see them) to capture, it's important to note it only matters who holds the point while the phase is ending to score, obviously whoever has more zones when the phase ends will get victory points. On top of that there is destruction score which is self explanatory, if you kill more points worth of units than your opponent you get some victory points. Another mechanic to note is each phase gives increasing amount of victory points, I promise this isn't a tutorial but I say this to lead into saying the game is literally designed on the fact if you get your a** kicked in phase one but have a stellar phase three you can still win! It sets up a really cool dynamic where you are incentivized to mount a comeback. Adding in units are on respawn timers instead of fixed amounts. it leads to some really cool comeback games and clutch moments. 5. PVE and Freedom to create is also in Broken Arrow, not only is it on the Steam Workshop (40k mod when?) but comes intact with a scenario editor where you can make your own PVE challenges for others. I really think this is where a lot of PVE enjoyment will come from, not the campaign. You can co-op these too and use your own decks! The once's I've played already have been challenging. You can also skirmish AI now which is a nice touch. To conclude I honestly just scratched the surface to this game here. Sure it has it's negatives like the optimization and the less than stellar single player experience. But once this game get's fully fleshed out and the modding community get's cooking like they always do it has the opportunity to become one of the greatest in the genre. Please consider joining the discord, watching some YouTube on it and giving it go, if at the end of the day it's not for you then that's okay too!

This game is fun AF, I plan on actually putting some real time into once they patch in a mid-game save for the single-player campaign. I don't know what the dev's were smoking to make them think that they could release a game like this with no pause feature, but pass that shit. Yes, I can sit here for multiple hours playing a game. That doesn't mean I always want too. Sometimes I like to bounce around between games and activities as I get bored and not being able to save mid mission just means I have to ignore that itch to actually get into this game because I have to start over every mission every time.
