I did enjoy this game. The scenery was very calming, and the puzzles were creative yet not too difficult. I do agree with some of the other reviews that it would have been nice to have a way to view the clues you had previously found in the book rather than having to go back to the places you found them and reread them. I've spent about 4.5 hours on this game and have completed it and all its achievements, without looking up a single clue, which is something I often do in other games. That being said, the puzzles weren't difficult and they made it satisfying when you did solve them. However, I bought this game on sale for like $17 but even that I think is overpriced. I would probably feel more satisfied with it if it were twice the length or half the original cost. So I do not recommend it purely for the high price, but otherwise a very pretty game.

A masterclass in a great puzzle game. I worked out everything myself and it felt great. Beautiful visuals and great music, works wonderfully on the Steam Deck

I loved exploring the manor. Everything is very pretty. I felt like the puzzles were a little linear. Limited to two or three plants at a time, matching the clues to them wasn't very hard unfortunately. Which leads to the game being a little short, in comparison to a puzzler you have to struggle with for a bit. That said I also didn't ever feel bored. Learning about the plants was fun altogether.

Lovely. A very relaxing game, beautiful art, and puzzles that are both entertaining and (a bit) challenging. For me, this meant 3 hours of pure joy.

Wonderful little game about hanging out in a pretty house, figuring out clues on plants and getting them to grow. Meditative and relaxing, with puzzle solving as a bonus.

As someone who likes puzzles and plants, this was a great game. The puzzle difficult did seem like it acclimated you to go from easier to more difficult but I never felt like any puzzle was beyond solving. My only critiques are that I wish on the map it would have a symbol of where you were cause it could get confusing some times. However, the map was small enough that it wasn't a deal breaker. The next would be to be able to examine the plant clues from the book instead of back tracking but again map size didn't make it a huge issue. Lastly, wish the game was longer since I has such a great time playing it.

I had my eye on this cozy-looking game and finally grabbed it during a good sale. It was a relatively "quick" puzzle game, but it was totally worth it! The development team did a great job creating a thoughtful story/narrative, designed a wonderful and artsy manor setting that definitely keeps to it's supposed time period (which is harder than it seems for many games these days). I am no master puzzle solver, so I appreciated that some of these were easier than others, and a few had me for a bit until I figured out how I was going about them incorrectly. The only thing I can say is that I wish there were even more to do! I wouldn't mind a new chapter (or two) post the end of the game with more expeditions on Arabella's journey to becoming the master botanist she is in a world that largely ignores her amazing talents. Should they ever decide to make further additions, I would surely continue this beautifully made game. :)

Botany Mansion is a average puzzler supported by great visuals. The environments look wonderful and were consistently very vibrant. The story (told entirely through written materials) follows a woman being repeatedly stonewalled by the scientists and institutions of early post-industrial natural sciences, regardless of their capability. It did have a nice ending, but was generally in the background enough that it didn't really make an impact on the gameplay and didn't really stand out to me. While it is an important story (as well as historical trend) to acknowledge, the environments and gameplay didn't really reflect it in any way. Overall, the puzzles were very meh; they were generally too easy and there were only two that I remember being stopped by for any amount of time. I would have really liked to see more complex systems for the plant growth (for example, a later puzzle introduced the idea of soil pH), as most of the growing puzzles revolved around solving the gimmick for that specific plant, then never interacting with that system again. While I do have some complaints, Botany Mansion is fine; its not the best puzzler, but is definitely a solid cozy game, especially if you want to go wander around beautiful plants for a few hours. The game took me 3 hours to complete, and a few extra minutes after to 100% it.

This is my first puzzle game, and I have to say, I really enjoyed it. The puzzles really ramped up in difficulty, and they felt very plausible and consistent in the world. I never got used to not being able to jump!

Fantastic cozy puzzle game! Loved every part of this game! My only complaint is that we can't review the clues we've already found via the Forgotten Flora book, but when I got frustrated with it the game was almost nearing the end so perhaps it's not a huge deal. The end made me happy cry. 9.5/10

Solve plant related puzzles in a beautifully stylized garden and manor house. Pretty cozy and chill vibe. No time pressures. Got stuck 2 or 3 times. Everything you need is supposed to be in game but I had to look a clue up in chapter 4. Maybe I just missed something. Overall, fun and engaging. Short and sweet. Worth it, if it's on sale.

It's a short yet neat puzzle game. The puzzles were intuitive and I only had to look up a guide once when I was stuck on a certain step. I also studied ecology in university, so I really enjoyed learning about the different plants and appreciated the commentary about the struggles of women working in STEM back in the 1800s. My only criticism is that there should be a way to review old clues straight from the herbarium rather than going back to their original places. Thankfully the map is small, but having that function would have been a time saver.

What an incredibly delightful game. Friends recommended it so I decided to finally check it out and I think I had a smile on the entire time I played. The puzzles were just challenging enough to not be boring but nothing was too crazy that it felt like it was disruptive to the narrative. It's a weird cross section between three loves I never expected to see in a video game; plants, puzzles and upper echelon Victorian horticulture drama.

Awesome game! Super chill, I enjoyed the playthrough a lot, the visuals and the colors are stunning and the whole exploration felt captivating. Diifficulty wise this game is pretty easy and I definitely recommend it to everyone who wants a not too hard puzzle game to just vibe. It is a perfect first puzzle game too. My only two complains: the smaller one, I wish the full cue sources were stored in the book once you collect them rather than only their location (you have to either take notes of them or backtrack); the bigger one, I wish the game wwas longer since I had so much fun playing. Also minor bug report, sometimes texts or the herbary are opned off center. Definitely check this game out :)

This was such a charmingly beautiful puzzle game. I really enjoyed this one, the scenery was stunning and the puzzles had a nice steady pace to them. I also loved the little snippets of story / slice of life you got from various things around the manor. I will be recommending this one for a while!

It's beautiful, it's sweet, it's not a huge commitment and it offers a glimpse into how far we've come and how far we still need to go.

I liked Botany Manor. It didn't blow me away or anything but it was good. There was one flower that was a little tedious to do and one puzzle that I didn't really pick up on the hints it was dropping but other than that I thought the puzzles were pretty straight forward. The story was fine. The end made sense and I guess for the time period would be considered happy. I was just annoyed on behalf of our heroine at times. I do wish I could have seen the clues I collected. Once gathered you could only see where you got it. If you wanted to see the actual clue you had to go back to where you got it and inspect it again. That was a pain later on in the game when more of the manor was opened up and you had clues more spread out. In general though, if you're looking for a flower puzzle game this is the one for you. Navigating the manor is also a puzzle in itself and that was interesting to uncover.

Genuinely one of the best games I've played in a long long time. Pushing through the weeds of major enormous games that I burn out on, Botany Manor is so so delightfully fun!! It's aesthetically similar to The Witness, but much more straightforward and knows what it's doing. Every chapter unlocks a new area, felt super intuitive to play through, and made me really happy to piece together every clue! The only issues I had were my own faults (mixing up which seed I had grabbed or overlooked an obvious piece of paper). Nothing felt repetitive in any way and the fact that the building slowly opens up more and more with each step meant that you can get anywhere in the game really quick by the end. Also the music is absolutely stunning, and every time the front gate bell rang, I'd feel like I'm running towards a new adventure awaiting me at the mailbox. If I could play more of this for longer, I would, but it felt PERFECT in length for the price (even if it wasn't on sale). I hope the creators do much much more, because I will buy those games for sure.
