-You need resources?
Maybe 14 business days in your warehouse.
-You need manpower for your safehouse at the start of the game?
1 person a day is enough.
-You don't want people coming to your place at the end of the game?
Fuck it, here's 100 people a day.
-Are you running out of resources at the end of the game?
Start a new game.
-Trying to save the game and quit?
The best I can offer is a game crash.
-Are you turning off the automatic feedback option?
I'm gonna bottleneck new map loading.

Honestly, this game is a good idea. I like where the game is headed and the mechanics and all that, and it's not a bad price. However, that being said, I would recommend that someone wanting a post-Apocalypse setting to wait for this one to go on sale or wait for it to come out of early access. I love the idea of this game, but the UI is not quite polished up to where I would like it, but that's just me. It is examples like these that I really would like to have a somewhere in between in the thumbs up and thumbs down. Again, just to restate, this is NOT a bad game, but it needs some polishing before it can become a really good game.

I like the Idea behind Infection Free Zone,
though while playing it feels like I "HAVE" to do things constantly instead of "being able" to do something on my own volition.
Instead of this being a sandbox Zombie aftermath survival town/city/defence Game it feels like it traps its own creativity with the way the building system works. I do like the system of repurposing Old actual real life buildings into other buildings, like HQ and Research Centers but I am constantly feeling limited by not being able to build my Own buildings for HQ and others. I do know that you can build your own buildings but this feels extremly limiting and not exactly fleshed out.
This game, unintentionally of course, feels like the inbetween of a macro city builder and a strategy unit/defence builder.
It feels too personal and constraint with the buildings, People. units and Resources that it is limiting the freedom one usually has in sandbox building games while also being a little, and truly just a little, overwhelming and bare for a strategy defence game: building options are limited to actual already existing buildings on the map, resources dependend on those limiting options and Squads, Constant manual movement of Squads, realistic urban/rural regions, realistic available time for NPC builders/farmers/scavangers/etc. to do their jobs, realistic aviable options for Population increase.
Now some of those points are not to say bad but the combind points make this Game: Hard, Boring, Unervingly Annoying, Irritating Constant Vigilance/attention on Squads/resource gathering, Unapealing UI/Camera View/World texture/Unit texture.
The viewing of the Map most definitely needs to be better aka: Being able to tilt the camera being more than a "birds eye view", not "straight on" of course but atleast it sould be "slightly above" 10°-15°. #
Obviously this game is in Early Access and I will be trying this game out again after it is fully released as I do like not only the genre of Zombie, Survival, City builder and Defence builder Game but also the the ability to chose your own starting point on the actual EARTH MAPS.
I do hope that the "game" gets polished and refined into something that can stand on its own without this new novel Idea of using the Earth Maps and actual real life buildings, only then could I recommend this Game.
For now its more like extremly bonedry survival game with a false Sandbox tag.

Infection Free Zone is a neat game, I love the premise of being able to plant a colony anywhere in the world via map-generated play-zones, which was the entire reason I got the game originally.
Sure, it still needs polish, but at the time of writing this it *is* still in Early Access, so that's entirely understandable, but leads to my next favorite thing about the game: It's active Devs.
I encountered a bug that made my game incapable of progressing the main storyline. Distraught, I opened a thread in steam asking for help. Within around 48 hours, an actual Dev arrived with a bandage solution command to put in to make the story progress-able. It may not have been a bugfix, but naturally those come later on. The fact a dev showed up not only with a "oh, we'll work on fixing that bug soon", but instead an immediate solution to my problem, makes me happy to see devs caring so much for their playerbase. Shoutout to Rider, the dev who helped me <3

Absolutely loving the game! Don't leave reviews often but for this one it's a must! So far few complaints knowing it's in early access, main one being some issues when interacting with multiple squads and a single vehicle, but that is so heavily out weighed by all the greatness in the game so far! I can only see potential and loving every minute so far. First play through was my hometown, made it past day 120 and decided to try some others on hardest difficulty. Now in Scotland and addicted as ever! Please devs, do not abandon this gem!!! Sooo much potential!

great idea, could be a lot of fun, but its completely unstable. you'll get 20 minutes in and the debug reporter just pops up, the game is still playing in the background but apparently it crashed when you did absolutely nothing and sends you back to the menu. like i say if they can get things stable it would be a lot of fun going to anywhere on the globe and play through survival. as it is its not even ready for early access.
I got a response from the makers on this review, i appreciate how how hard they are working and look forward to where the game will go. i'm just going to give it some time to develop more until i give playing it another try. its a really soft don't recommend because its early access you know what you're getting in to

I love this game. There are not too many good colony management zombie survival games out there, but this one is a must play. I would not recommend using their "create a playable map anywhere" feature until you get used to the game. It typically results in a map that is limited on resources because most places do not have a dense placement of stores needed for the game to create all of the different types of resource-specialty buildings. Looking forward to the continued development of this game.

Given the fact that we're talking about an Early Access game, it delivers a lot of fun despite some bugs.
Given the fact that developers are active, eager to fix bugs and willing to implement suggestions, it shows a lot of potential.
The difficulty level is adjustable and it doesn't have any extreme volume of frustration, neither allows boredom to dwell.
There is a Story mode if you're willing to follow a scenario with quests and there's a Freeplay mode where you can just do your thing unbothered.
So far I had 80+ hours of mostly fun, enjoyment and the proof that people won't stop shagging like rabbits if there's no TV around.

I love the game, but I don't recommend getting it in its current state. You can't build a bigger base because the longer you have the game running, the more memory it takes up until it crashes. I don't mind bugs or unfinished mechanics for a game in development, but anything causing a game-crashing performance issue is too frustrating.

The UI is atrocious, RTS games from the 90s have better controls. The combat is beyond dull, this could have been a flash game with the lack of sophistication i've seen in the setup. The entire control-system needs an overhaul, colours and graphics are painfully dull and bland.
Map is too zoomed in, you're constantly scrolling just to get past a couple of buildings.
Voice acting is a nice touch though, they should expand on it. And being able to pick locations irl is cool, but they dont really look anything like your local areas at all, while i never expected a 1 to 1, they should have at least been recognisable.

Third increment with more than critics because « this goes without saying, but it's better said » and ré-evaluate to "recommended."
It is a very addictive/attractive game ;
And having a real map with a majority of real occupations (police, stores, etc.) is a truly brilliant idea. Probably the best idea in game for long time. And this fits very well with this genre ;
The graphics are good and well thought-out ;
Gameplay is OK, manages to make for an engaging game.
The ambiant music is fu good (and i appreciate the wink: guitar riff to Aran Z place ;) ;
Critics :
The promise of a map has been fulfilled, it is impressive (few misses or special indutrial research masked zone : normal) But incomplete because resources/lots adaptation on map (not the store or police reserve existence, not map itself, but the quantity and allotment where a map is not a "recommended map")
== So **choose a "recommended" map** (all the personal ones tested result in an adventure that ends before 50 days (lack of rations and/or lack of other things. All.)
Things i dont know:
a) i dont know if central team control panel absence is a choice or not. but i see current swapping ("divided" and "compose") team is painfull. A detail
b) time management, ratio choices seems to be not ok: the ratio between looting time and movement, the ratio between recovery and construction time, the ratio between events and normal journey. The balance seems clearly perfectible.
Suggestions:
- Offer information's popup on the progress of sequences or/and more voices samples (example: "grain harvest ok" ; "the barn has been stocked") : motivation.
- Have females voices!
Bugs:
1) Impact bug : A tower built behind but touching walls: Zombies will swarm around the tower as if there were no walls. Currently, do not have defense towers touch walls!
2) Impact : Time, ratio time acceleration between normal, speed, uspeed isn't exact; tasks aren't accelerated that much. So accelerating = slowing down. So dont use acceleration right now.
3) 0 impact and fun : Ennemies fall to the ground and get up again and again, endlessly (until the end of the fight) and without consequence, just animation artefact. This one is fun
4) 0 impact bug : Date/calendar: 2 years (all months are visibles: may, june, .. 2x) but the calendar display "day 62" ?!?
5) 0 impact Sometimes the back key to previous team selection takes you to the corner of the map.
Conclusion: Come on ! It is a pleasant and an addictive game that will give you a "hard time" and fun to build a solid base and then expand it little by little. Against hordes, against human enemies, against swarms of Z, even against Alphas. A good game and good promise.

The game uses Google maps to generate a map for you which is an incredibly fun idea and made me super invested.
I made a homebase out of my actual house, BUILT A WALL and barbed wire around my neighbourhood, searched the local supermarket for supplies and my highschool for "research points"!
14 hours of quality time!
Found the vaccine but sadly there's still no actual win condition according to the internet. I can't wait for the game to be developed even more and have some kind of an ending.
I'm starting a new save on max difficulty because normal felt way too easy.
I has small UI/UX issues but nothing major. For a month and a half old early access I think it's pretty good!
Good job to the devs!

It's a neat game for the concept. However, they need more options to make resources plentiful for people who live in small towns/hamlets. Feels more like a 15 dollar game if anything.

Can live out and put your zombie apocalypse plan into effect.
Very fun when in an area you know well.
However, been having issues with the game spawning infected and raiders in the small fog of war areas within my base, completely undermining my defences, very frustrating to deal with, but can be mostly countered with a base guard duty squad I guess.
Also apparently the west coast pacific ocean freezes in the winter allowing infected to cross it...lol

Lots of promise, but has some growing to do especially in the HUD/User interface. Lots of things are just a bit clunky, there is limited keybindings, and the constant pausing/comm interruptions really gets annoying.

A game with good promise, but some things to work out still.
My first issue is that if you choose an area like an island or castle with natural defences like water or walls, enemies can still spawn in that area despite being searched and scavenged. I understand that happening for open areas that enemies could migrate to. But this is as if the zombies can either teleport or just form out of nowhere.
Another issue is with some ui bugs and that trying to click on a squad for example will just shoot your camera off it's location and go to a quest.
I'll also mention is that while I think the building is decent, but at times you'll have to disable snap as it just won't be able to attach a wall the normal way for whatever reason.
Lastly, the auto equip feature needs to have a toggle. I don't want my scavengers being slowed down because they always equip armor that slows them.
Overall it's still a good game, but you can notice areas where it's in development.

Honestly, so much fun, i love the fact it uses google maps, i'm fortifying my street and surrounding areas and the shops near me are accurate in their representation as well as the resources found there, i've seen people complain about how hard it is but i must say it doesn't seem to be as long as you're playing smart looking forward to playing even more.
I'm glad i ignored some of the negative reviews, i was on the fence about this game due to them but im glad i took a chance on this as it really is so much fun.

unique and addictive game. great potential. i love the google maps layout of the game. you can make your actual house your base. hope you have a gun store near by like i do. it made getting good weapons in the beginning easy. it even had the right name of the store! only thing i would like to see is a bigger playable area. im sure thats in the works tho. hopfully one day we can build across the entire United States from New York to Cali. it wouldnt be hard to do with a different "block loading system" than only loads the blocks around you and has a compressed save of the blocks you built in. we wouldnt even care if it had a loading screen if you went too far. as long as it ment more room to build. as far as a work in progress game it isnt too bad.

So my overall review is that this is a really fun game that could just use a little polish and fleshing out.
The ability to play in your hometown is *incredible*, and the game is worth it just for that. I have no idea why more games don't do this. Even having local street names integrated and included in messages, and local businesses showing up by name...beautiful idea and execution! The buildings even show up in the real life shape; just incredible!
Gameplay is a nice mix of city building, tower defense, and simplified RTS. Resources seem ample but challenging to get in quantity, with different paths to success.
Combat is sufficient, though I'd welcome some more information (how much do walls help? How is damage applied? Etc.). I love the way you can kite and use buildings to essentially direct and crowd control enemies.
And the city defenses are very well done and pretty well tuned to keep it interesting.
The UI is decent, providing most of the details you really *need*. A little polish here, like showing current stores of an item when you mouse over it in the loot window, would be nice. I'd also welcome more quantitative details on how all the different things work together (ie: shooting skill vs gun damage vs defense vs range vs accuracy). There's also talk about survivors having different strengths or weaknesses, but there's nothing in the UI about it or how it affects you.
There's an option to pull all squads home at night which is nice, but not very useful as you often want to micromanage to optimize for travel time. On the other hand, there is no 'man all towers' button, so every night you take workers away from one of your industrial buildings and click 10 different towers to put them there, then do the same thing in reverse each morning; it gets really exhausting after a while. There needs to be a setting for each tower for if it's manned all the time, only during the night, or not at all, and 'only night' tower workers should have day jobs.
Also, tiny complaint. Yards are imperial I guess, but about 1/10 as intuitive as feet for Americans. It would be a nice change to be able to measure in ft and sq ft instead of yd and sq yd.
There are some odd bugs, like squads not reloading, or the next squad button getting lost, or buildings showing no path after a reload until you wait it out, or the game *constantly* unpausing for no reason (that *really* needs fixed), but they are usually not gamebreaking; you just need to work around them. Some other reviews made me worried; I wouldn't be. They're not a big deal.
I agree with others that the game kinda trails off after a while. On medium I researched barely half the tech, just starting day 40, and already felt kinda 'done'. There's no challenge other than nightly hordes, which are pretty easy. And I feel like there's no real goals to work towards. Especially since your map gets looted pretty quick, and the 'expeditions' just feel so unmanageable, unexciting, and anxiety provoking. Quests give you something to do, but not something to work toward.
I tried again on hard and the hordes were tougher. Made it a bit more fun and the game lasted longer. But still felt like there was nothing to work toward.
Addition of more tiers of weaponry and stuff, like molotovs made from fuel, may help. As is, new production buildings feel like they just replace scavenging, so it's all stuff you already had and just feels like maintaining.
But I don't know if that's the right way to go. Really, this game would work *SOOOO* much better as a mission based game like Icarus or Against the Storm. Give a map specific goals and challenges designed to take 30-120 days, and make completion count towards some progression system *outside* the main game loop. It would turn a game you'll get 50 good hours out of into one you can get 500+ good hours out of. And would be much more effective than just trying to tack some extra stuff on to the main game.
So I guess that's my final verdict: Buy if you're not on a budget; otherwise wait for a sale. And just plain, 100%, no questions asked buy if they make it mission based.

Bought game because there is option to just play anywhere on map. So I picked my neighborhood in east Europe. Yep it totally works. Street names, buildings with business are taken from map. It was fun navigating familiar streets and ACTUALLY knowing where shops and schools are for resources. Super immersive. Not sure what endgame still has but feeling definitely delivered.

I love this game, but.... you beter know what it is, and what it is not. Else, you could end up realy deceipted.
The good, and more than good, amazing feature of the game is that it's working on real world map. I didn't realize how this is cool just reading the comments before I play it myself. And I was close to drop it away, not giving a try. Thanks Steam solid refund system...
Why is it so good ? Because you can build your bunker in places you know. You can set it where you live, you can use your grand'ma's house as QG, you can pick up your holidays favorite place... everywhere on the world, cities, towns, villages and contryside, is avalable to be your playground. That's make it another game experience.
Beside that, it's a weak game. Or even a no good game. I plenly understand and approve those who say that game doesn't worth the price. Indeed, it doesn't even worth the trouble. Don't install it on your computer, if it's not that real world map.
I'm not fan of zombies, but I'm convince there are a lot of beter zombies games out there. If you see it as a Rimworld like game, then it's a realy bad one. Or as a city/bunker builder, but then again it's no good. Why ? User interface is bad, graphics are weak, mechanics are cheap and short, game is buggy like hell.... forget it. Just, forget it.
But, if you accept all of that, it worth the trouble. Definitly.

Really enjoyable, I've been having loads of fun. The map feature is amazing, I love that I can play in my neighbourhood specifically. Some of the maps/areas I thought would be really easy to play in became quite challenging, which was pretty awesome. The learning curve and strategy is so different from other similar games, and presents a unique challenge. I'm really keen to see how the game develops further, and if I can track down a suggestions box, I definitely have some things I'd like to see, though I would have considered my money well spent if the current version was the finished game. The story is fantastic too, but easy enough to put off if you want to just build and develop for a while first. Great game.

Fairly simple in it's gameplay and gameplay loop, but a fun little survival game, probably the best part is that you can pick pretty much anywhere on the globe you want and try to survive with your settlement there. There are some missions and a storyline, writing is OK but nothing stellar really. It's a fun little game all in all, I'd recommend it.

This dev has a good library of games that let you play anywhere on the map, and I'm looking forward to where Infection Free Zone goes. It's been enjoyable already, though! I established my HQ in my real world home and bulldozed most of the neighborhood, skipping the houses whose IRL occupants don't suck. I've completed a wall around my neighborhood, now, but may be outgrowing it soon. If so, I have my eyes on the subdivision down the road...

Unplayable. Filled with bugs. Early Access game that does not listen or address the concerns of the players. I stopped playing for a long time and came back to see what they changed. What they tried to improve was horrible. They double down on their own bad ideas. Who ever was responsible for interacting with the players for the developers would lie and gaslight the players. With all the bugs still in the game, how long it takes to play, and the micromanaging in addition to my past horrible experiences. I will not play or recommend this game. Unless there is a top secret update that adds and fixes so much this game is doomed. At this rate, it will play and run like something from the NES compared to mobile games people play on their phone.

the concept is a great idea on paper, and marvelously enough this studio succeeded in translating it to a playable and engaging game. given the ingenuity of the base concept i'm tuned towards forgiving in terms of gameplay and gameloop, this one definitely needs a lot more work for a full experience, but the groundworks are solid and the current state already works in favour of a truly unique and immersive playthrough, given the fact that i'm playing the game on a map of the city i live in irl.

Infection free zone is an ode to all those survival flash games that I grew up on. From scavenging for scraps to building my own self sufficient town. The amount of potential this game has is only matched by the amount of bugs it has, the last time I played a game that made me feel this way was Project Zomboid, that indie, project of passion feel to it. Having said that, the game, for me, is currently unplayable. One in twenty saves actually load me in, and squads don't respond to commands after about 10-15 minutes of gameplay. As much as I want to support this developer I can't recommend this game in its current state.

I really wish I could recommend this game, but until they fix the zombies moving around during the day. Its not supposed to happen they are only meant to come out at night. Since the last update it is worse now than before. If they fix this major issue I will recommend it again if not I will stop playing, Because it is just stupid to have the main game mechanic to not work right.

So 51 hrs in ... this is a very addictive game.. it is great to be able to play in locations you can recognise, the mechanics are simple yet challenging and the existing storyline is engaging. Yes there are still some glitches and if your from the UK you may find the building allocated not very realistic but it is still very enjoyable, I'd say give it a go and see if you can survive where you live.

This game is incredible. Im really excited to see what this game expands into, because there is boatloads of potential here for resource management and colony sim in a zombie apocalypse.
