I would never trust anyone who gives this game a bad review. It's that good. I'm not even kidding.
Okay, so Stardew Valley completely ate my life in the best way. (Most of my hours are on the Nintendo Switch) but I like playing on PC too because well... Mods.
I downloaded it thinking it’d be a cute little farming game, and now I’ve got spreadsheets for crop profits, strong opinions on which villagers are shady, and a weird emotional attachment to my chickens. It’s super chill but also weirdly addicting. The music is cozy, the art is adorable, and there’s always something to do ... whether it’s mining, fishing, flirting, or just watering your plants and vibing.
But honestly? What I love most is how low-pressure it is. You can play at your own pace, focus on whatever makes you happy, and it still feels rewarding. Some days I just walk around town doing nothing and I’m like, yeah… this is self-care. It’s sweet, sometimes surprisingly deep, and kinda feels like a warm hug with dirt under its nails. Total comfort game.

My bf introduced me to this game when I was in a bad place. Working a corporate job for ungodly hours a week sucks the souls out of me. I almost forget how vibrant the colours in this world are when I finally get out in the day. This game is like a little haven for me.
I haven't made to perfection yet, since I like taking my time. My game is fully modded with SDV expanded, and other wonderful mods this talented community has to offer. I used to hate the fishing mini game since I was suck at it and avoid the mines for I kept getting killed. Now all I do is fishing for my aquariums collection and going down the skull cavern to spam the bombs.
At first, I didn't understand what's so fun about it. Felt like a chore. But then I learn to like the mundane and cute little moments with the villagers. The oddity and weird glitches to exploit. Causing mayhem and chaos. By the time I'm writing this review, I just quit my job. One of the hardest decision I made. But I'll try to put less pressure on my next step. Maybe I'll find my own Stardew Valley out here.

If you have a girlfriend or a wife you will be forced to play this with them and waste away in the mines while she takes care of the house and the farm and you will like it.

Stardew Valley isn’t just a game I played — it’s a place I lived in for a while. A place I came back to when life felt overwhelming, when I needed a break, or when I just wanted to remember that slow, quiet progress still counts. On the surface, it’s a farming sim. But underneath, it’s about connection — to land, to people, to yourself. There’s a stillness to it, a sense of rhythm, like exhaling after holding your breath too long.
It’s hard to describe how powerful that first spring feels. Clearing out your tiny patch of land, planting seeds, waiting. And then — one morning — something grows. Not much, just a few sprouts. But it’s enough. Enough to make you want to keep going. The relationships, the small town rituals, the changing seasons — it all unfolds at its own pace, and Stardew never rushes you. It trusts you to find your own way, and that’s rare. There's a kindness in its design that makes it feel more like coming home than completing objectives.
I think the reason Stardew Valley means so much to me is that it showed me progress doesn’t have to be loud or flashy. You can build something beautiful out of small routines, slow days, and a lot of patience. It reminded me to appreciate little victories — a good harvest, a rainy day, a new heart in someone’s dialogue. I didn’t just escape into Stardew — I learned from it. And for a game made by one person with a dream, that’s one hell of a legacy.

The first time I tried to play Stardew it didn't catch me at all and there were many things bugging me. I didn't want to mod it, bc to me, mods improve/expand an already good game. They shouldn't have to fix a bad one.
But I was wrong!
Maybe not even wrong, just in the wrong mood or mindset.
I started a new save file last week and became instantly addicted and obsessed. The only mods I am using are some minor quality of life mods and a fishing help mod, because the game is, in fact, perfectly enjoyable as it is!
Maybe I went in with some crazy expectations but this is mainly a farming sim, its fun and relaxing! I'm playing through my first winter now.
My advice: don't rush yourself.
During my first attempt I assumed I had to max out as much as I could in my first year. While that is a fun challenge, it is not the point. I was frustrated with the lack of guidance in game to achieve this goal. This time around I said I'd take my time, who cares if it takes 3 years to do the community centre. And I'm loving it!

At first glance, Stardew Valley seems like just a simple little farm game — but under the surface, it’s so much more. The graphics are modest and the gameplay is straightforward, yet there’s something truly addictive and relaxing about it. It doesn’t punish you for making mistakes, but instead gives you the space to learn, improve, and come back stronger next season. That kind of gentle game design is rare these days.
I wouldn’t necessarily recommend it for PC, but great on the Steam Deck. It’s the perfect way to unwind. You can pick it up for a quick session and suddenly realize you’ve been immersed for hours. There’s a real comfort to it — a peaceful rhythm that lets you just chill out and enjoy your time.
This game reminds me of the early days of gaming — the good days — but it also shows how far those ideas have come. It proves you don’t need flashy graphics or endless tutorials to make something truly great. If you grew up with games in the Gen X era like I did, or just enjoy simple, well-crafted experiences, I highly recommend Stardew Valley. It’s one of those rare games that feels like home.

This has to be one of the best games I ever played. It took me nearly 150 hours to achieve perfection and I’m not even done yet with all the things the world has to offer. What’s mind-boggling as well is the fact there are no paid DLCs despite the game being relatively cheap and extensively updated so many times throughout the years. It’s hard to get bored here. If you somehow manage to finish everything and discover all the hidden secrets, the game can replayed eternally thanks to a large modding community.
I could just keep prasing it for days on end, instead I’m going to point out a few things that i didn’t like:
The biggest pet peeve of mine is the combat system, it’s super basic and frustrating at the same time, though it gets better as you obtain more powerful weapons.
Then, the tutorial, or rather the lack of it. I highly recommend watching a video before diving in blind. The developer definitely tried his best to show the ropes to new players but it’s far from ideal. I was finding new stuff, that should’ve been explained somewhere in the beginning, even in year 3 and 4.
Getting your waifu preggo is based on 1/20 odds which I personally have found very annoying. As of wirting this review I’m still waiting for her to ask me to have a second child. No joke, it took her a year and a half to ask me for the first time.
Can’t forget about time, I feel like you never have enough it or you have too many hours to burn (like irl). I know you can install a mod that lets you tinker with fast-forwarding/slowing down the daytime or even skipping days, however, it breaks the game eventually. Maybe the golden clock could have this feature by default.
Lastly, the mini-games. I’m going to keep it short, they are not fun and should be removed altogether.
10/10 - an awesome experience. I might come back, create a new save and become a capitalist pig by joining Joja Co.

Are you awake now? You seemed to have a nightmare just now. You were talking about all sorts of things like postgraduate entrance exams, work, compensatory rest days, and job interviews. Did you accidentally eat some tree sap?
Get some good rest. Tomorrow, don’t go to plant hops and brew beer. Instead, take a tear crystal to Sebastian and invite Sam and Abigail to have a picnic in the Secret Woods.
Oh, and don’t forget to fill the cat’s bowl with water before you go out.
Life would be so much better if it were like Stardew Valley.

Probably one of the most well-known and relaxing indie games out there.
A pixel art world to manage alone or with friends, locally or online. Between the seasons, farming, fishing, dungeons, and the village, the content is as rich as it is peaceful.
And with mods and the workshop, the possibilities become almost endless. It might just be the ultimate farming management game.

As you can see from my hours I very much tried to enjoy this game but in practice I just often didn't. Many people do love it though, the question you'll have to figure out is if that will be you or not.
There is not much I'd even point to as a particular objective "problem" with the game. I'm not a fan of only being able to save when I sleep, as if I play a day it often feels like a massive chore to finish the day before stopping. And also, there's just a lot of tedium walking around. Days feel both too short and too long somehow. But those are all rather inconsistent feelings. There were a few times I found myself having some fun with the game and jamming out a bit to the music (especially in summer) but those feelings don't last long or hold over long period of time for me, and before I know it I'm either waiting for day to end or just running to bed early so I can close the game.
I may still try again at some point, but for the moment I've probably played enough to at least have a decently informed opinion. I will update this review if I ever come around.

If I can only play 1 game for the rest of my life, this is the game.
The pixel art and music are a perfect union with the game play. This is the perfect relaxation game in any library and has been an important counterbalance to my days spent grinding ranked matches in online competitive games. It's got low spec requirements which has allowed me to (purchase and) play on different devices.

Yeah, this game’s pretty neat. It took me a few tries to really get into it—not sure why. The beginning is definitely a grind (as it should be), but once it clicked, it stuck with me. It’s such a chill experience, and I love how it respects your time.
No cheap tricks to keep you hooked—just solid, rewarding gameplay. It even inspired me to start a collection of games that actually value your time. Stardew’s a standout for that. I've got 50 hours in it so far, and I'm still in Y1. It really lets you set your own pace, and I was initially trying to figure out how to max my efficiency—mine this day, chop wood this day, fish this day, etc. None of that matters, honestly. You can go as fast or as slow as you'd like, the world of Stardew Valley will wait for you.

I love this game. It's a nice cozy farming simulator that also gives you the option to date characters! It's style is so adorable and the overall feel of the game is amazing. I love everything about this game, to the fishing, mining, and farming. Overall a nice cozy game to play after a hard day or just something fun to do on a day off.

More Than a Game, It's True Emotional Therapy.
This game is absolutely amazing for me; it's genuinely like emotional therapy.
Stardew Valley creates a peaceful escape where you find calm and purpose in simple farm life. Every in-game day is a chance to grow and build something meaningful. It's incredibly soothing, helping me relax and feel happy.
The charming pixel art and calming music add to its immersive feel. Plus, the continuous free updates keep it fresh.
If you're looking for a comforting, fulfilling, and relaxing escape, Stardew Valley is perfect. Highly recommended!

I've spent countless hours on Stardew Valley, and I have bought it on multiple devices, so my game time is nearer to around 200hrs, and I have to say Stardew is a labour of love, even now, concerned ape continues to update the game alone, whilst also developing a new game. Stardew Valley is one of those games you pick up and can never put down. I always find myself going to play Stardew as there is just so much content in the game, never mind when u play with mods. The only issue I have is that the classic path/mud colour is so saturated for my eyes that I have to use shaders/mods to dull it down a bit, as it causes me to get terrible headaches. Solid game, definitely worth every penny

I rely on the cheat menu quite a bit because Time Anxiety, but it's a cozy play and brings back a lot of nostalgia for the og farming games I've played in the past. Plus, so many romances to pick from means you're bound to find at least one favorite!

This game is the best of mine!
Although the graphics of this game is 8-bits, but it doesn't make the games less fun. Suitable for who got low-end PC or notebook like me.
I replay this game about 3 or 4 times with my friends. With different farm types and random community center setting, it can make each save unique and fun in their way.
And if you're starting to feel bored, there's a lot of famous mods of this community which can add/change your game into more fun!
CAUTIONS: Beware of your time, bc you will sink into this lovely cozy game so easily!

great game. love love love it wish I could get back into it but sadly the past still haunts me in more ways than one and besides the several canon events I went through with friends in this game, the game itself is very fun even after completion. I enjoyed the storyline and gameplay mechanics and had an absolute blast throughout every painful second. may Ethel Cain save America and may trump implode this year xx

A fantastically built and written game - many directives and objectives but not too much as to be overly structured with no freedom. Very fun (especially with mods, such as Stardew Valley Expanded), highly recommend.
