Fun game that you can just lose yourself in. There is some need for forethought and strategy but not all too much. Achievements are super easy to get and are not locked behind DLCs in order to get "perfect game". It's a simple game that allows a good amount of fun and the art style (one may call simplistic) suits the general feel of the game. An interesting twist on resource management/crafting games

Stacklands is a deceptively simple yet surprisingly deep card-based village management game developed by Sokpop Collective. At first glance, it looks like a minimalist card game with charming visuals, but underneath lies a clever blend of survival strategy, resource management, and roguelike progression that invites both casual players and optimization enthusiasts alike. The core mechanic is delightfully tactile: players stack and combine cards representing villagers, resources, buildings, and events to grow and maintain a thriving settlement. It’s a game that rewards curiosity and experimentation, steadily unveiling its complexity through discovery rather than exposition. The gameplay begins with a handful of villagers and basic resource cards—trees, rocks, berries, and coins. By dragging cards onto each other (for example, a villager onto a tree), you trigger actions such as chopping wood or gathering food. These simple actions gradually compound into larger systems. Soon, you’ll be creating farms, crafting tools, building houses, and managing a growing population. What makes Stacklands so engaging is its intuitive interface and natural learning curve. There’s no need for complex tutorials; players learn by doing, and the game’s rules emerge organically from experimentation. Nearly every interaction feels like a small discovery, whether it’s figuring out how to cook food or how to combine cards into new buildings. Time in Stacklands is measured in “moons,” or short rounds that bring new challenges and resource checks. At the end of each moon, your villagers need to be fed, and if you haven’t planned well, they’ll starve—leading to real consequences. Balancing food production, expansion, defense, and exploration becomes a core tension in the gameplay. The introduction of threats like goblins, skeletons, and mysterious portals adds a layer of urgency, forcing players to build defenses, craft weapons, and manage risk. These moments of danger shift the tone from peaceful sandbox to tense survival, making every decision matter. One of the game’s standout features is its card pack system. You can buy new booster packs with coins earned through farming, selling, or exploration. Each pack introduces new card types—animals, structures, rare materials, or new biomes—that expand your options and strategies. It’s a mechanic that perfectly straddles progression and randomness: you never know exactly what you’ll get, but every pack opens the door to new interactions and gameplay loops. This drip-feed of content keeps Stacklands feeling fresh and addictive even after multiple playthroughs. Visually, Stacklands is clean and deliberately minimalistic, using a flat, pastel color palette and simplistic card art to great effect. The clarity of design ensures that even with dozens of cards on the screen, everything remains legible and organized. Combined with a whimsical soundtrack and satisfying sound effects for stacking, collecting, and battling, the game exudes a calming charm—even during moments of high tension. It’s a perfect example of aesthetic restraint amplifying gameplay clarity. Despite its strengths, Stacklands isn’t without limitations. As a solo experience, it can become repetitive after mastering the systems, and some may find the mid-to-late game less surprising once all card combinations are discovered. Additionally, the lack of more expansive village customization or endgame content might leave players craving a bit more depth after unlocking everything. However, Sokpop has shown a commitment to supporting the game with updates, and modding support has extended its lifespan for the community. In conclusion, Stacklands is a brilliant, genre-defying gem that blends card game mechanics with survival and strategy in a way that feels both approachable and deeply rewarding. It thrives on player curiosity, delivering countless moments of "aha!" discovery while gradually building toward a complex web of systems. Its accessible design, satisfying gameplay loop, and clever mechanics make it one of the most inventive indie titles in recent memory. For anyone interested in a fresh take on village building, resource management, or card-based mechanics, Stacklands is a must-play. Rating: 9/10

$6 on sale, not worth it. first playthrough is interesting. got to moon 40 on third playthrough and unlocked recipes for stuff for around half the game. very boring after that. i would say its good if it was 2$

Starts out really fun on your first playthrough but becomes boring really fast. My biggest issue is there really only feels like one way to play it and you really can't deviate from it.

It's a cute game, and the loose cards piling up all around the map is a cute bit, but at some point it just becomes more work than fun to keep everything organized in order to make progress without pulling your hair out. There is exactly one quality-of-life card and its the animal pen that prevents animals from romping around destroying your organization. Recommended because it's only 5 dollars, but it could really use better quality of life mechanics.

No warning of game-wiping mob-spawner event is insane. Hours into a run, and you nuke yourself because you thought you were doing a good job completing a quest. Terrible design that makes me content not to explore any more.

If you think the game is too hard for you, there is a nice pause feature with SPACE, so you can do the pack openings in relative peace. Did a 100% achievement run in 14 hours, there is no big need to read online, almost everything can be read from the book inside the game. Only small problem is, when you are crafting something, you kinda have look at the guide book, do something, then do it on the playfield.
The island was kinda lackluster for me personally. I only really went there fror glass and to get the island equivalent of the golden goblet.
For this price, it was well within the range I would considering a nice tycoon game to be at for less than 5euro (on sale). 100% can recommend buying it.

its essentially like the game "little alchemy", but instead of creating things for science, you do it so you can battle a rabbit until you're 4 hp just to get poop. (this game is really fun, 9/10)

I've played this game too long before realising that its just pointless. Once you defeat the "final boss" Demon Lord, which is not hard to do AT ALL as long as you prepare sufficiently, the game just dragged on by extending your play space to an "island", which requires the player to re-do all that they already did on the mainland, with only a few minor differences. Kind of like a "new game plus" where you only momentarily leave behind your main base, in order to farm 2 specific resources (gold and glass) and then after crafting a big ship, going back to the mainland and... I dunno what next, maybe there is more content but it just feels too repetitive. Very grindy is how I'd describe the game. If you like a chill pointless not much difficulty kind of game, this is it. The main difficulty I'd say is figuring out what recipes there are to combine different cards, which can too easily be solved by either googling the wiki or if you prefer not to "cheat", you can just grind more coins to buy booster packs which will provide you with "ideas" (the recipes). All in all it's not a bad game per se but I feel like I wasted 12 hours of my time grinding only to realise there seems to be no end to the grind, no satisfying payoff. I'm really not sure how this game got "Overwhelmingly Positive" reviews. Maybe I am missing something or its just not my cup of tea.

If you want the game, you can get a good idea what it's about in the 2 hour refund window. This is important cuz the game isn't really that fun if you watched a video on Stacklands and already know most of the crafting recipes (well i mean its still fun but less fun if yk what i mean)

It's a pretty good game. If you are just starting, be very careful about always having food and weapons, because if all of your guys die, then you will have to restart everything. There is no previous save you can go back to if you die

Great game! I had fun playing it. At first, it seems hard, but with time you get the hang of it. I was lucky that I had good management of food and resources, so I beat the game on my first try. Took me around 11 hours to 100% the game. Overall, worth it. I recommend getting it on sale.

I initially bought this game on a whim, not expecting much. I quickly ended up locking in so hard, not tearing my eyes away from the screen for a single otherwise everything would fall apart. This game rules.

I played this in a lull between games and it really kept me entertained. I recently did a revisit after some DLC releases and was pleasantly surprised to see that they added quite a bit to the game. It's kind of a strange take on a resource management/survival? game but cards... I enjoyed it and have recommended it.

Clever and surprising, it blends civilization building with a card game. You stack cards (villagers, resources, buildings, etc.) to grow your village, harvest, cook, fight, and evolve—all in a strategic way, with an addictive "civ-lite" feel. In short, it's easy to pick up, deeply strategic, and perfect for those who enjoy managing, optimizing, and progressing.

For money's worth, it's a real great deal. Very relaxing, and an easy way to kill a few hours of free time. The gameplay is as simple as what's shown in the trailer - you get an idea, gather resources to make it, and combine those resources to get the final result. You always have a goal to reach, so you're almost never get bored, and managing multiple tasks at once adds to the fun of it all. Overall I like this game very much. 9/10

An most 'unforgettable' game i‘ve played recently; very creative game system; i wouldn't even think of it as a card game but much more as a strategic/survival .. machine or city builder (in a simply 2D way).. easily kills my hours, good game! Recommended! more DLC plz!!

This game is exactly what it seems when you look at the preview. Which is good. Absolutely fulfilled my expectations. Sometimes I regret there is no replayability value, it also could be a bit more difficult (defeating the witch was super easy, too easy), but it still has enough content to keep you busy for a dozen of hours.

It is a cozy game that you do have to think about at times. I thought after I got my food system going, and set my people up I'd be bored, but I am not. I think there is a mystery to what to do next because they drop hints as you play, so it keeps you interested. I did not realize this game was going to have combat and boss fights! (they are automated but preparing and winning is very rewarding).

This game is simple, sweet, and slowly ramps up in complexity as you go. I never really feel rushed to do things nor do I feel like I'm desperate to complete everything yet the steady stream of progression is super fun and leaves you hooked for hours on end. It's a pretty good game to pick up if you have a couple hours to waste and want to do something that doesn't involve a fuck ton of thinking} Overall: 9/10. My only gripe is I wish the dlc was easier to move around with

Fun little game. I bought it on sale and I do not recommend buying it without sale. Main game plus one DLC altogether was less than $10 and from my progress, it seems like i'll get about 30 hours of playtime. For the price I paid, I think it's okay, considering I might come back to it few months later. I really like the concept, and really wish there were more content. Since this game has modding option, it would be nice if more modders notice this game and add to it :') More DLCs would be fun but it would be better if they are connected like how the island is connected to the mainland quests.

Yes its a skinnerbox. But its a good one and I need the serotonin. There is enough agency to where you don't feel like a putz. Look its not easy to get me to feel joy and it does it. You know how depressed I am? You know how depressed I am when I am playing Stacklands? Because I don't.
