A bug that forces you to lose. Hard for solo players.
Bug, couldn't serve a table. Served it multiple times until a specific level IDK which.
Does NOT teach you how to research upgrades. Upgrades aren't really upgrades, they're technically just random selection of different equipment. So if you want a sink per se, you'll "upgrade it" and it''s either be a sink that auto washes, a dishwasher that can wash up to 4 dishes auto, or a faster sink, etc. It's random. Normally upgrade means per sequential intermittent entry. meaning level 1, level 2, level 3 etc. Not random "I hope I get the dishwasher"
It's ragdoll. Walking through doors can be a pain so if you simply just have three tables in your build, you can just block the doors and make a serving "window" reachable through a wall, blocking you from going into the dining area.
You have to google what most of the items do. Like for instance I had to google what a "dumbwaiter" was. I almost purchased it thinking it was an employee to help me serve dishes. Nope. Just teleports your dishes to another dumbwaiter. A magic box, WHICH BY THE WAY, you have to wait and pray you get lucky and can buy another soon to be able to use.
I have NO CLUE as to why the developer chose the O and P button to make selections, along with the enter button to move along dialog. O = left mouse button, P = right mouse button, enter should be changed for E.
Your kitchens are small. Corner placements can be weird at times, but really should just be there for decor otherwise you're holding down the directional buttons to use anything placed in a corner.
Sometimes cleaning up messes especially around customers or doors, they will move you and interrupt the cleaning process. If you don't clean constantly, the mess will build eventually to a tier 3 pile, decreasing speed significantly, and increasing clean up time. Makes sense but is substantially ridiculous if it's where you'll be shoved around, or in front of a stove (HOB).
I liked the concept of the game but it is NOT worth $20. Maybe $5. As sloppy as the controls are, it's super limiting. As I have read other reviews about how slow it is in the beginning before you reach a comfort level, I'm still not seeing it after 3 hours of play.
The bug that stopped me from serving a table really ruined it for me. The ragdoll mechanics ruin it for me. Especially door pushing. Games aren't about graphics anymore. Which makes it about comfort. You can't put poor goofy graphics in a game AND make it uncomfortable to play. Pick one.
Is it fun? YES. Is it worth the price? No. These guys are getting silly with the prices they ask for, for goofy created content with poor mechanics.
I chose pizza as a menu item. I read and tried to follow the directions. It would NOT let me interact with the oil in the step process. I didn't even make it past level 1. So I never chose pizza again. Just steaks.
Salads are atrocious. Just keep steaks on the menu and add accordingly.
You should have a prep phase. But you don't.
You should allow "upgrades" between levels, NOT during them while your main focus is to cook and serve customers. Again, not comfort game play. It's just created chaos making the game stressful.
I want to keep playing. I want the game to succeed. I want to recommend it but I can't. Not like this. I have no clue as to how it has a "MOSTLY POSITIVE" review status unless the players are 12-15 of age, and mom or dad bought it for them, leaving them with no sense of appreciation to where the dollar value went towards a cheesy game.
I've been dying for some cooking game like the ones they provide on mobile, but for some reason they just don't make them for PC. Was hoping this one would do it for me but it just doesn't.
BUY AT YOUR OWN RISK. Wait for it to go down in price or go on sale.
EDIT
I've requested a refund. It's unexplained mechanics for "grabbers" and other features leave me to find external sources to teach me how to play a game where that responsibility lies solely with the game itself. If I have to google how to play the game, it is pointless to continue.
