Kinhachiro is the Vice-Principal at a local school, but on his off-time, Kinhachiro indulges in his own selfish desires. During the morning and evening commute, his hands play tricks on the women on the train, be they students, teachers, office ladies, once they catch his eye, they will know it.
[h1]Technical[/h1]
We got Unity 2021 live and kicking here, using Mono as the backend. This means that the game is relatively easily modable, using a framework such as BepInEx. There is very little to gain from doing so, but theoretically possible at least if you’re feeling particularly adventerous. As for the game itself, we’re in for a bit of a rough run from the get-go if you don’t speak Japanese. You will quickly notice that the game is shipped with Japanese as the active language, and no obvious way to change it, unless you’re very familiar with obscure Japanese only VN engines, you won’t even find any option menu.
Let’s just save you some trouble here, the language menu can be found by taking the mouse to the upper part of the screen, at which point a options bar shows. Press the rightmost option, 設定, and select the sole option under that. A menu should now show on the right side of the screen, where you can select English from a dropdown.
Now, part of the game will be immediately translated, but not everything, you need to restart the game for it to be fully in effect… and even then, there’s some japanese sneaking in here and there, but quite playable still.
This is, however a insane problem to have with a 58,99€ game… At least put the language box in plain sight on the main menu…
And that’s before we take a closer look at the VN section where story sexuality is happening… it doesn’t fill the screen. On the left and right side, you can still see the detection lines, UI elements, all of that molestation systems spinning around as if nothing happened… This part doesn’t MEAN anything, it just feels… sloppy?
This could so easily be fixed… just put black borders, or create the artwork to fill the screen. Creating another layer is not the hardest job in the world in Unity, so I find myself confused as to why nothing was done for polish here…
I want to add, after writing this review, I visited the Steam Discussion forum for this game and found that the developer has put up a walkthrough on how to change the language… a… walkthrough? You know about the issue… just… move the language dropdown into the main menu…
[h1]Translation[/h1]
Well, usually, this section tends to boil down to ‘serviceable’ or ‘guess the game was English to start with, so someone Japanese will have to say how it played out over there’… but yeah, this is a poor showing. The English is stale, sometimes nonsensical and other times outright bad. If you have the balls to ask for Persona 5 levels of money, I expect a Persona 5 level of translation at the very least. This does not seem like a Google Translate job, so some effort has gone into this one, and the translator doesn’t seem to have done a bad job at the translation as such, but it’s on localization it falls completely flat. This is mostly 1:1 translated from Japanese, and anyone with a decent familiarity with English can tell. I would not be surprised to learn that some with English as their second language find this largely incomprehensible.
Adding insult to injury, there’s a survey option on the main menu, which is great! The developer wants feedback to improve future works…. but… all the options in the suvey is in Japanese, even if the game is set to English. At this, I can only laugh.
My first reaction is thinking that this game must be from a indie single person operation, but, while I don’t know what the manpower behind this label is, this is a game from Beelzebub, a label that has a fair few titles in their back catalogue, so one would hope that they’d have the resources or community to make sure the translation was better than this…
[h1]Voicework[/h1]
What voicework is here is actually decently good… when you can hear it. The BGM and SFX almost completely drown it out, and even upping voice to max and setting everything else (except for Master) to almost off, it’s still hard to hear the voice.
That being said, the VAs are doing quite a decent job here. They are well fit to the characters displayed, and quite well communicate discomfort, fright and other requried feelings through their voice work.
[h1]Sexual Content[/h1]
On this topic, there’s a lot to go around. The star of the show is the molestation scene; You need to get into the same cart as the target, and position yourself on a timer, and then there’s time to feel up the target, which is the core sexual content here. Following from there, there’s also multiple penetration actions per woman, and each of them have several levels. The penetration takes place in a VN-like setting, with mostly static assets, though there’s slight use of layered sprites, using blinking eyes to make it feel a bit more lively.
[h1]Controversial Content[/h1]
Good lord gracious, if you are easily affected by nonconsentual content, you want to stay FAR away from this one. The whole core of this game is less than consentful sexual activity. If you enjoy noncon content, or control play fetishes, this is a decent offering, but anyone else should stick their fingers in their ears, close their eyes and run blindly the opposite direction.
[h1]Overall Review[/h1]
You can add another euro, and you can buy Persona 5 Royal. Either Persona 5 Royal is insanely underpriced, or this one is a bit overpriced.
At the current serving, adding in the niche tax, due to the whole adult content, and noncon at that, thing, I’d say that fair price for this game would be 29.99€, so… aim for a 60% off, or so, for a purchase unless you’re dried out on your chosen fetish.
The game, story wise, does a good job for what it is, the sound design is lovely, it doesn’t have any gamebreaking bugs, and I am entranced by how this game handles the molestation aspect. The red lines spinning around depicting bystanders gazes is genious, after playing this my mind is spinning with game ideas spinning off that idea, but the drawbacks for this game is gigantic. I will end up giving this a recommendation, but it’s a narrow one, mainly due to the sheer number of issues here, and the, quite frankly, insane asking price.
So yeah, go get it, preferably on a deep discount, if the fetishes peddled here are for you.
