Train Simulator: Frankfurt High Speed: Frankfurt – Karlsruhe Route Extension Add-On

Do not be fooled! This is an extension route for 'The Rhine Railway - Mannheim to Karlsruhe.' I have made a full length and two short length runs this evening and the route is gorgeous! Very typical (Rather flat) scenery for this area in Germany. Many have issues with two things: 1) The route doesn't work. (It is an extension, read before you buy.) 2) The speed limits change. - The latter of these really grinds my gears, because even if you moved into a far more heavy simulation such as Zusi 3, you'll find the speed limits change! This is simply how German signalling works, it is complicated and not a red, yellow and green system in the slightest. One criticism would perhaps be the ICE included in the package - the sounds are rather off, but this may be a glitch on my end. 100% worth buying in this sale especially, if you like this kind of route. I do hope we start seeing some vetting of misinformation on here soon.

The career scenarios are fun and function as intended, but as soon as you want to casually play on Quick Drive, the game goes nuts. If you can get the route to load, a lot of junctions will be set against your train and will slow down the progress down the line and the game will randomly crash at random intervals. There's also the problem that at times, LZB ends without a proper Ende Warning or a signpost at random times, sending the train off flying if you're not careful. After seeing a few responses from the devs (Not to say one copied and pasted response from the devs), it makes me incredibly angry that I would have to turn down my settings JUST to play this route, given that outside of quickdrive, it works perfectly. I'm willing to change my review if they fix this, but until then, unless you want to play the 7 scenarios given over and over, I will not recommend this game.

Missing Most Textures. Reinstalled multiple times but still missing ground, Track, Platform, buildings Textures. All i have is the 3D model the textures should be on. This is with no 3rd Party Addons and graphics settings on max.

I can't recommend this route to scenario creators. When a custom marker is placed, the schedule gets stuck at refresh and the only way to continue editing is to start the scenario and go back to editing. You'll then encounter a loading screen of [i]DEATH[/i] which takes around 5 minutes to load the editor again. [i]Is the game actually calculating the answer to the ultimate question of life, the universe and everything?![/i] There's just [i]NO OTHER REASON[/i] which would justify [i]THAT[/i] long loading times! And as the cherry on top, you need to do this [i]EVERY. SINGLE. TIME[/i] you place a custom marker, so make sure you plan in advance and place all the markers at once, to reduce further delays. Otherwise the route is built pretty good, can't say anything about the scenarios though, since I like creating my own ones, [i]WHICH TAKES FOREVER[/i] in this addon. My god, Dovetail fix this issue, this is NOT acceptable! Will update the review once this glitch is fixed.

When I load a scenario, any scneario, it says it misses content... Even tough i have all the trains and i Purchased the route..... A waste of my money. Don't buy this. Even in building mode, it misses all the scenery

This scenario does not work! Only the map got downloaded, not the trains themselves. Unusable in quick drive nor in the scenarios. In scenarios it shows an error that the ICE train (and others) are not present.

I got this DLC thinking it will be fun. I bought the ICE 3 I with it I load in the map and no texture no tracks no buildings no AI's walking around waste of money don't Buy this DLC

Läuft bei mir einwandfrei. Ich kann die Scenarien fahren, habe die Quick Drives noch nicht probiert, nur gibt es Merkwürdigkeiten bei LZB (schaltet aus an falschen Stellen. Kann aber schnell wieder eingeschaltet werden). Dass Frankfurt Hbf. gar nicht lädt und andere ernste Probleme, die hier erwähnt werden, kann ich bei meinem PC nicht nachvollziehen. Ist aber auch ganz neu und sehr kräftig. Warten wir mal ab (ja, es ist kaum auszuhalten!), bis die 64bit Version da ist. Das löst dann hoffentlich eine ganze Menge, aber bis dann, und vielleicht auch danach, ist leider nur einzusehen, dass TrainSim einen sehr guten und teuren Rechner verlangt, bevor man die ganzen Details einshalten kann. Ich persönlich freue mich riesig darauf, dass die ganzen lehren Abstellgleise hoffentlich damit voller Leben werden können. TrainSim World war für mich eine enorme Enttäuschung, langweilig mit sehr wenig Variation. Zwar ist die Graphic besser, aber (gähn) soo trüb zu fahren. Ich hatte schon Mannheim Karlsruhe sehr lange, fand aber immer die Strecke langweilig. Jetzt macht sie viel mehr Sinn, und hat bei mir viel weniger Probleme, als ich zur Anfang mit HH - H, Köln Koblenz oder Koblenz Trier hatte.

A beautiful route that is running perfectly for me. Maybe Dovetail fixed the problems? I don't know, but absolutely no problems with my installation.

Not sure why this route has so many negatives. It is AMAZING add-on to Mannheim-Karlsruhe. The latter even thought it's a really good route always felt too short especially for ICE. Extending it to Frankfurt works fantastic. Now we have 150 km with a stop in the middle which gives a lot of immersion. If we pick up a slower train it's really long. The Frankfurt itself is just AMAZING. I love the station, how many tracks it has, all those viaducts. The route is beatiful whith lot's of objects, even the trees in a forest look perfect. I don't have any problems with quick drive scenario. Actually I've never seen so well made QD with a lot of other traffic. The only drawback is performance. In Frankfurt it drops a lot but it's just because how complecated it is. Highly recommended as an extension to Mannheim-Karlsruhe.

Quite fun, but max speed only on 200 kph. If you are having problems with textures, then check description to see if you have other DLC needed for this one to work.

This route is great now that 64 bit is here, plenty to do, plenty to see. there is still some broken LZB here and there, but the patch DTG rolled out got most of it. my only complaint right now is actually not with this product, but the regret that the Kohn-Koblenz 146 has no functioning LZB (it half works kinda)

It seems to be some error with loading the rout. It looks super unfinnished for me! No tracks what so ever, everythign is floating and ther´s a lot of grid floor in the rout!

Do you know what i got for 8 euros? Nothing. I've got just empty maps with unusable train and wagons. Don't know if i¨m only one Scammed but GL buying this.

DON'T BUY THIS DLC It's not working, the promised "trains" and "scenarios" are non-existent. I'm lucky to have bought this DLC while it was on sale. Very disappointing and just takes up space on your PC.

ok, the train does load but not the station or anything else. this is a big scam and the picture looked promising, but it did not work.

No tracks are loading. I guess DB are testing MagLev on this route? And why are the overlay controls displaying MPH?

This is basically taking one existing DLC, and all you get is just the same route. Although Frankfurt is what's new in the route, I expected better, because I spent more money buying this and an additional DLC with it to make the route playable due to its intended textures from it. Dovetail, what is your game here, money grabbing?

I'm paying for these games and they're not working. in some scenes theirs no tracks so the train doesn't move wipers work headlights also but can't get the train to move

This add-on does not work. Can not load ICE 3 train set and always skips to "edit" or "exit" mode. Wasted money. :-(

I really don't understand all the negative reviews for this route. Paired with hte host Mannheim-Karlsruhe route, it's absolutely fantastic. Nice scenery and well depicted. If you understand how German signalling and track speeds work, you'll be pushed to find any 'speed errors' that others report. (I found none). Some people just don't realize that in Germany, signals overrule and can *change* the track speed. So yes, the track monitor may show 160kph, but a preceding signal may inform you that, at the present time, the track speed is 60kph. That is *correct* behaviour.

First off this is TRASH!!! the tracks people and detail has dissapeared and thats how angry i am about this GIVE ME MY MONEY BACK BECAUSE THIS ROUTE IS BROKEN!!!

I've owned this route for a long time, but only recently decided to give it a go. I was hoping that the mostly negative reviews on steam were wrong, and that it was people having a high expectation of DTG (long term customers know that you should never have faith in DTG). The first hour of playing went really well, the route is nice and the signals were behaving themselves. It was after this hour that the tables turned. Cruising along at a nice 160kph, and all of a sudden there was a sea of red lights ahead. With no prior warning, all I could do was apply the emergency brakes and hope. Unfortunately this hope didn't work, as my train came crashing into a static ICE, that just happened to be in the way. Sadly, this wasn't the only occasion I've come across quick drives that don't work. It's a nice route, just it's a shame you can't actually drive along it without issues...

THIS ROUTE IS AN EXTENSION, IT NEEDS ANOTHER ROUTE TO WORK. Wrote this because I've noticed that extension addons seem to be getting bad rep because of people who didn't read the description. The extension is nice, it makes the route significantly longer and gives you a good stretch of really fast railway to play with your ICE on. I still don't recommend getting the mannheim-karlsruhe route, so I shouldn't recommend this one. I will though, for those who already got the base route. It doesn't fix its flaws but it generally adds nice things to it.

I'm torn on this route as for the most part the scenarios are as described and were easily accomplished. I had no issues with the graphics or frame rate, all seemed acceptable. However, loading any QD scenario is an object lesson in frustration as trains that I had just played on the route in a career scenario were not found, refreshed the game by checking files (as you do) and still no go. Then I thought I'd give it a whirl using a train that always loads a 66v2, but that send the game mad and it crashed big time. Being of a bloody minded and stubborn disposition, I thought "nah this sucker's gonna work" and it must have been a windows/steam glitch. Rebooted the comp and went right back at it and you know what? It's bollocks the QD don't work at all, a whole bunch of faffing around for no gain. Why the bloody hell don't they fix these releases? I'll tell you why, because DTG have the money and don't give a rat's about anything other than that. To conclude, the route looks fine, although others claim otherwise, the scenarios work albeit with a couple of missing speed markers in the HUD, so save your game frequently. If running the scenarios is all you care about then 👍 but if your interest extends beyond that then 👎 I can't recommend it.
