Into the Radius 1 and 2 are among my favorite VR titles, if not game franchises. The atmosphere is amazing—eerie and surreal. The gunplay, in my opinion, is the best in VR. Moving tactically through a pitch-black, dilapidated Soviet-era apartment with only a flashlight is incredibly immersive.
I’d still give this game 5 stars despite minor issues. There are some bugs and jank, which is expected in early access and common in VR. I hope for more mission variety and a greater variety and quantity of enemies in future updates. While difficulty settings allow you to increase enemy numbers, I want even more!
I highly recommend this game if you enjoy full-motion control and movement-based VR experiences!

I absolutely love the first one and so far I’m completely, enjoying the second one. My biggest complaint so far if you could call it, a complaint would be that it always seems to be night daytime just doesn’t seem to last anywhere near as long. Maybe if you could implement some type of night scope or something it wouldn’t be an issue. Other than that, I can’t wait for more but the first one in this one are pretty much my favorite games.

Great Game already even better with a couple mods. Can't wait until the game is more fleshed out!
Into the Radius is my favorite VR game series of all time.

Edit 9/7/2015: Posted my issue in discussions—never got a response. Real shame. I’d love to enjoy the game, but until I can get some help, it’s just unplayable.
I’ve put around 20 hours into the game and had a fantastic time at first. The atmosphere, the mechanics, it all clicked. But ever since the Ghost town update, the experience has fallen apart completely.
Now the game crashes every time I try to enter the world. I can reach the main menu, but as soon as I hit "Enter the Radius," it hard crashes to desktop and takes SteamVR with it. I’ve spent nearly 5 additional hours just sitting in the menu, testing fixes, and hoping something would work. Nothing has.
I’ve tried everything, switching VR runtimes, combing through community pages and forums, applying every suggested fix. No progress. Whatever changed in that update broke something critical, and it's made the game flat-out unplayable for me.
It’s incredibly disappointing to see a game that once felt so promising become a source of pure frustration. I genuinely don’t know what happened, but something went seriously wrong.
I really do hope its fixable, maybe a dev can respond to this or something and provide some additional insight i might be missing.

KEEP IN MIND, THIS IS A EARLY ACCESS GAME!!! SO THERE WILL BE ISSUES!!!
So far I have played over 10 hours in this game and, just like the first, it is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!! I do wish there were more western weapons (like the FN 57, USP 45, MP9/MP45, and so on from the first ITR) but maybe we will get them later. there is plenty of "construction" going on in the FOB so they plan on adding more stuff there and levels too. The enemies and environment are just as creepy as I remember and the AI for the enemies have received a HUGE upgrade. They will flank and rush you if they think you're reloading so hunkering down for too long is a bad idea. The anomalies are easier to see and identify than in 1, but they're hidden better so be careful.
So far I am LOVING this game. Definitely a MUST HAVE VR title.

When I bought the game and found out that VIVE Wands weren't supported, I was fine with having to use unintuitive bindings to play with them.
Never expected the devs to go out of their way to make my controllers unusable.

First time going into the forest map I
-Went out in the middle of the night
-Dumped two buckshot into a fragment
-Got jumpscared by a mimic
-Dropped my [strike] PM [/strike] Water Pistol
-Closed game
10/10 would get spooked again

Vive wands not supported despite working perfectly fine in the first game and in early versions of this game. also for some ungodly reason they went out of their way to ensure custom bindings also don't work, so i can't even try to brute force it. This feels like a huge middle finger to people like me that can't afford a new setup. Shame too, because i liked the first one and it looks like it's a good game. If you have a newer setup then give it a try but if you are stuck with an older headset like me then for the love of god save your time and money and avoid this like the plague.
edit: oh that's cute, they will send a little damage control response too if you say "Vive" lmao. i don't care about official support, i completely understand and comprehend that testing and supporting older hardware is hard to do. just let me make my own bindings like i have for other games with this issue which is a built in feature of Steam that has to be intentionally disabled to stop functioning... oh, that's weird! i can't because it's disabled! incredible. i wish you guys the best with this game, but it will not be with my support that's for sure.

Before I start my review I do want to say this is a good game that I do recommend and I do realize that it is in early access. I Just want to complain that some enemy's are unreasonable strong, for example the spawn, in the first game they were kinda tough but could be dealt with, the spawn now in this game are essentially heat seeking tumbleweeds, you can't doge them from how fast they jump and lock on to you, they come in hordes with other enemies which makes it unbearable to deal with. Another thing is that when I was doing a security level one mission (note I was in the forest area so maybe, MAYBE, this is why they were so tough, but still) I was retrieving a tripod scanner thing when I am forced to encounter enemies' heavily armored with ak's and shotguns, and I have a pistol and weak shotgun. How is this fair? I have no armor and spend thousands on heals just to find out Its not the right tripod and now I have to repeat the same thing in a harder area. A thing I also have some issues with is how clustered the zones are, around every corner is a anomaly giving no breathing room and makes avoiding and fighting enemies hard when I am bouncing off of anomalies. And just one more thing, the game randomly glitches causing a delayed vision effect which causes me intense motion sickness. Now I would like to say again I understand this game is in early access so things are buggy and will change, but I just want to get the devs attention on the enemy and obstacle issues I have. If the devs read this, I do love the game, it just seems a lot harder than the original for no reason.

this game is pretty good but i'd really hoped that in the 2 years since i had last played this it would be way more optimized so that was kinda disappointing to see i'm still getting 60-50 FPS but the game itself is really fun so i cant really shit on it for that reason and considering the first one was also not too well optimized and was still really fun, i'd have to say buy it if you want really but preferably during a sale but otherwise i dont have anything against this game.
8.5/10 would recommend with friends and have a good GPU because mines 3060 12GB OC and i'm still only running mid quality at 120 scale res also audio can be weird at times like my right side i cant hear the 360 audio in like a 5 degree angle on the right somewhere but thats just me i think

i was a HUGE fan of the first game, but I can't recommend the sequel for the simple reason that it does not have the feature to hide your entire body (showing only hands, rig, and helmet).
Not only is it immersion breaking, but it wreaks havoc on my motion sickness because my arms and legs are nowhere close to where my body is. I've tried working around it but I am physically unable to continue playing because I just get nauseous from the visual body displacement.
If you're reading this devs, please add a "hide body" option so the visually challenged can play :(

This game is wonderful and a great sequel to Into The Radius, I love this game. Not many complaints I can think of, just things I wish to see added. 1. Please add nightvision/thermal sights-It's almost impossible to use snipers at night time which takes away half of my playstyle. 2. Make stealth a more viable option-Maybe add a ghillie suit which decreases your visibility in the Forest, Peninsula, and certain parts of Pechorsk Outskirts. 3. Please release a road map to new updates-I think I speak for every player when I say we want to know when new updates are planned and what the content will be.

few bugs and glitches but it's early access, I highly enjoy this game in it's current state and the multiplayer is playable, I run on a quest 2 pcvr and ran into some issue where if I was the one joining someone else I'd have to reload everytime we went to a different zone because for some reason the game just wouldn't show up in the headset but me and my friend fixed this by me hosting the lobby and they joined me and it worked fine, they run a quest 3 pcvr

I would love to recommend this game, but since patch 0.13 it won't even launch, not through openxr or steamvr. I played easily 150 hours of the first game on the standalone quest 2 and would love nothing more than to properly dive into this game, but I guess that's just not in the cards.

It needs a little polishing, but the game itself is really fun. I will note there are things I had to do and experiment with to get it running consistently and minimising crashings.
1: Don't use the Meta Quest app, I was experiencing A LOT of crashes and laggy performance using that
2: lower your native resolution on your headset to about 80-90%, really helps with performance. I personally did that and lowered all the settings to the minimal and went up from there, helped a lot.
3: Steam link/virtual desktop worked best for running the game, not many crashes at all in the small amount of time I've had in the game.
As of right now, I have a 4060 and a i7 9700kf, which should be more than enough for most vr games but I still struggle a little bit with running it. It really comes down to the devs doing further optimisations on the game but it is still playable in it's current state.
It's a really fun game! But maybe stick with the first game in the series for now until they can improve upon it <3

For an early access game, it is really good. The devs know not to rush development and take their time on good updates. Having hundreds of hours in the first game, ITR2 has some pretty big shoes to fill, but assuming the devs put time and a lot of effort into it, this game can suprass the quality of the first game.
In the current state, I would have to say you should wait either for a sale or for 1.0 to release

I really like Into THE Radius 1 and 2 (I have two STEAM accounts and played a total of 300+hours in the first generation and 30+hours in the second generation). I highly recommend everyone to play the next generation or the second generation, both of which are excellent. I won't go into too much detail about the first generation here, but I will focus on the second generation.
Advantages: The overall graphics are very good, and the details are much stronger than the first generation, but it has become more cartoonish. I don't know if this is intentional. The backpack and firearm customization are done very well and have high playability. I really like them. The enemy is also smarter than the first generation, making the battle more intense.
The drawbacks that currently make me most unhappy are the problem of grabbing backpacks and grabbing guns behind them. There is at least a 30% chance of grabbing failure. In addition, in the game, the body often cannot automatically return to its original position after rotation, which causes me to always misplace the items I grab. These two issues disrupt my game rhythm and did not occur in the first generation. And the plot is a bit pale. I hope you can add some paper text and NPCs like in the first generation. A small knife is a good prop and I hope to make a comeback. Eating canned food with a small knife was something I really enjoyed doing in the first generation. Finally, I would like to talk about the issue of the graphics becoming more cartoonish. Into The Radius is a post apocalyptic hardcore shooting game, and it is better to maintain the realistic writing of the first generation for this type of game~

It's a good experience if you have the patience to ignore the laggy and un-optimized nature of this game.
I played and loved ITR1 and bought this game somewhere short after it was available for purchase, I love seeing this game develop in real time with each new Dev-blog and update.
However due to this game being a VR title, running on UE5 and being this early into the development phase, it is extremely laggy and sometimes its even really frustrating or impossible to play a shooter like this.
I found a quick workaround where quitting to the main menu and reloading a save results in better performance for a bit before returning to the lags... (maybe there's a memory issue in the code?)
But what I really liked about this game is the new direction that its going!
The customizable vest, backpack and weapons are awesome additions to the experience overall!
The redesigned ranged enemies are amazing,
But the regenerating fragments and spiders of the first game were designed much better...

It's a semi-simple vr shooter, but a very challenging one.
It won't reward a player who wants to run face-first at a pile of bullets, nor a player who thinks that crouching will turn them into a skyrim sneakster. It'll reward players who tackle situations in a thoughtful and tactical way. Expect to die a lot when you begin. Expect to have a lot of fun when you get good at the game.
It is my hope that they differentiate the enemy types a bit more. This game, and its hidden story, contain untapped potential that felt barely-touched in the first game. I sincerely hope they'll go farther with this one. And, I really, truly hope that they stop scattering anomalies all over the everything to be annoying little roadblocks. There's got to be a better way that to scatter hells-bells all over the place...?

It is very much in early acces, and it shows, but it is already playable to a large extent. Theres are quite a lot of bugs arround, although most can be avoided. Optimisation is also, uhh, questionable, but i dont doubt that will be ironed out later on, when more of the core systems are finalised. i really like the new attatchment and rig system, and i also apreacheate more physical interaction. i dont know how to feel about certain moddels, like the scanner, liked the Itr1 version better. Also the lack of a knife... is desturbing.

This game even in its early access phase is PHENOMENAL. I bought it the day it came out purely out of support for the developers and the incredible work they did on the first one, knowing i wasnt going to play it for a while because i wanted to let it cook and see where it was in about a year. I just finally booted up the game for the first time since it first dropped, i did briefly play it when it launched but not enough to really form an opinion on it. In its current 0.13 state, it feels really polished, i havent encountered any bugs in the 6 hours i've put into it aside from a single crash. But i haven't noticed ANY glitches whatsoever.
This game in pretty much every single way feels like a MASSIVE step up from the first game. The atmosphere is already incredible, the sound effects and the lighting and the gunplay, all of it just feels PERFECT.
I also really like the aesthetic of the base and the character model you play as. The tactical hazmat suit vibe its got going on is REALLY cool and personally i hope it doesn't change. The base doesn't feel quite as... cozy? I suppose you could say. But i really like the high tech government facility vibe its got going on. I personally find it really immersive as it reinforces the idea that you're being employed by a government agency of some kind to go into this dangerous hellscape to perform dangerous jobs and do research on the zone. The aesthetic of the gear and the base really reinforce that idea and i'm completely in love with it. I wouldn't mind changes to the base but personally i really hope the character model doesn't change, or at least the arms. I love the way the gloves and wrist watch look. It's just badass feeling. And i also really like the aesthetic of all the gear items and the weapons. It's top notch.
I'm just absolutely blown away by this. I LOVE the first game, its one of my all time favorites. I'd played it on quest standalone so it doesn't show my hours here on steam, i've only played it a little so far through PCVR.
I'm very excited for the future of this game. CM Games you are COOKING. Phenomenal job and i'm looking forward to where you take this!

The game looks more visually pleasing compared to ITR1. Artifacts have been reworked to be more engaging to find. Combat is much deadlier as well. The modding potential for this game is very exciting, and it's clear that CM Games is working with a bigger budget than ITR1. Early access jank aside, this is a massive overall improvement over Into the Radius 1.
If you already own ITR1, buy the series bundle instead. You'll get 30% off ITR2.

Over all I am excited to see how things develop. I personally want the devs to implement an anomaly that hunts you down across the maps. here is to hoping.

The game is poorly optimized, the enemies pathfinding is trash, when you try to place an item on your arm the arm is 10cm down from the real position, there are too few items that lack the proper hitboxes, in a vr game i expect to be able to hold almost any object to immerse myself, the itr1 is a much better game, i know this game is in early acces but there are too many issues in this game for what their asking price is, i do hope that one day they will make this game better but for the next at least year the game should not be bought, if you want a game like this i really advice going for the first in to the radious. It has a much better story, better enemies (they also look better and i hoped that in this game they would continue that art style) and much more. The only thing that itr 1 doesn't have is multiplayer but i don't think that is a minus (i acctually think it is better).

No Pico 4 Support – and No Plans to Add It
I've tried to enjoy Into the Radius 2 with my Pico 4 headset, but unfortunately the game is not compatible. While the game runs, none of the buttons on my controllers work, making it impossible to interact or even get past the menus.
After some digging, I found out that the developers have no plans to support Pico 4 at all – not even basic input fixes. This is really disappointing for a full-price VR title in 2025. Other major VR games have managed to at least make their games playable on more headsets, even unofficially.
There are community workarounds (like remapping every button manually in SteamVR and injecting OpenXR proxies), but these are not beginner-friendly and don’t always work.
If you're a Pico 4 user, I strongly recommend avoiding this game until proper support is added – which, according to current dev communication, won’t happen.

First of all, I know that there are few VR players in China, but that doesn't mean there are no Chinese who love this game and most Chinese people are not good at English. If there is a game on Steam that adds Chinese, then many Chinese players will buy it, which will also make you more money. What I know is that there is currently a third-party website that has made a Chinese patch for this game, and it is illegal to charge for the patch (about 3 US dollars) so that the game can have Chinese support, so please update the Chinese, I really love this game! Chinese is needed!
