FSX: Steam Edition - RAAS Professional Add-On

This is great DLC if you're looking for that extra level of realism for your flights. There's nothing better than flying into an airport in poor visibility and hearing the runway being annunciated when you're a few miles out. It's great for situational awareness, plus it sounds cool! It also includes callouts for when you're approaching runways on the ground, and the distances remaining during takeoff, which is really nice. There are also flap warnings when on the runway, and lots of warnings if your approach is unstable when on final. All in all it should definately help when in poor visibility, and is a great way to double check with yourself that you're all ready for landing or takeoff. When I bought the PMDG 777 I've been after the same callouts for my other aircraft. RAAS Pro comes free with the 777 and the Aerosoft Airbus X, although being free, they are locked to those particular aircraft. If you want RAAS on other aircraft, you have to get this full version. The price at writing this is only £12.99 which is nearly half the price being advertised on FS2Crew's website! It was a no-brainer really. Regarding the person saying that it crashes FSX. I'm not sure what configuration that person has, but this runs perfectly with my PMDG aircraft on FSX. No issues or crashes at all. Easy to setup and use and a great addition to the immersion. I will say though, I do have the PMDG 777, which as I said already comes with a free version of RAAS installed. I simply disabled FSX using that version of RAAS (very simple) just to be safe that they weren't going to conflict with each other. If you've got the PMDG 777 or Aerosoft Airbus, I would recommend the same. To disable the free version: **BACKUP** and open your "dll.xml" file (usually found in \Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX or FSX-SE) There will be lots of sections surrounded by <Launch.Addon></Launch.Addon> - look for the one that has the path "RAASPRO\RAASPRO.dll" contained in it and remove it. There should still be another version of RAASPRO, probably towards the bottom of the list that has the path "DLC\[numbers]\RAASPRO\RAASPRO.DLL" - this is the full version so make sure you keep this section. Save, exit and start FSX. I'm not sure if this fix is required for the full version of RAAS Pro to function correctly, but I did it anyway and the addon is working perfectly. Anyway, love the addon, and thanks Dovetail for getting FS2Crew onboard!

I purchased this FSX SE add-on in order to assist me with approach landings by calling out the approach altitude as demonstrated in the sales video. The one function I wanted does not work. The developer has not responded to my question in the community and other comments in the community lead me to believe the altitude call out function does not work. I have not read in the product documentation or product discription that this function does not work. If that function doesn't work, I will return the add-on for a refund.

The same RAAS system is actually implemented on new airliners, so this addon adds a one more level of realism to concerned gamers. On the other hand, I don't recommend buying this addon if there is no 50% discount (at least) on it. It has only one really useful feature - announcing the distance to the end of runway. Other callouts are often more disturbing than useful. Note: the altitude callouts aren't included neither in this addon nor in real RAAS system! They are heard on video, but it looks like these callouts are part of used aircraft model. I found on Web and installed the free altitude callouts pack separately.

Very strangely it didn't function at all on my old laptop but has been working perfectly on my new one for more than half a year! It def works like what you see on the store page video. For anyone like me who still uses FSX nowadays, you don't even need to worry about the mixed reviews, just bet it'll work and buy it. You can get a refund for no reason within 2 hours of playing time or 2 weeks after buying it anyway.

Before paying your hard earned cash for this product,1.Make sure you can find a copy of the SCHEMA.ini file. 2.you have the ability to copy and paste this file into the FSX folder. This file is missing from the download,the add on installs into FSX but does nor run,as it loads with FSX, steam counts this as you having played the game?I spent two days trying to get this to run,steam refused a refund on the basis that I had played the game for over two hours. I found a copy of the ini file on AVSIm ,copy it to notebook ,rename the file to SCHEMA.ini and paste it to fsx,just done this and it worked. Should I bill Steam for my time?

This DLC now works fine following some initial issues and I find it very useful especially when flying in adverse weather and low visibility. I had the same difficulty as some others when this DLC was first downloaded in that when starting FSX SE I recieved an error message that the "schema.ini" file was missing. Solution was to locate the "schema.ini" in the DLC and copy and paste to the main FSX folder and now everything works fine.

10/10 Does what is says it does. Don't read the people saying it doesn't work. They either have potato 2008 pc or they are a potato themselves and can't workout how to turn the sound up on it. I wouldn't reccomend buying it at full price. I payed £7.79 for it and I think that's how much it's worth.

This addon is not essential... Is it helpful though? I think for the sort of person that likes to fly with challenging weather or is frequently in new airports this is great, but if you fly with clear weather and are always in the same airports there is really no point. It does what it is meant to do, it improves your spatial awareness but you have to ask yourself if your really would use something like this. I personally barely use it although I can find the landing callous useful so I know if I am using too much runway and can bring it down faster. I generally fly in the same airports due to the fact that I use scenery so I know if I am at the right runway or not and I use charts if I am in a different airport but if you dont do these things it could save you from accidentally departing in the wrong direction. Cons: Sometimes you will run into scenarios where your scenery does not agree with RAAS so you will get a incorrect call out although this has barely happened to me and I think it was the scenery's fault. My rating = 8/10

Not the best add-on. Doesn't tell me altitude on approuch, Distance remaining .... actually the only thing that works is the runway annouchments, which tells me when im in flight on approuch!! No otpions within flight sim and no documentation that i can find. Not worth the money at all in my view.

Probably the most useful payware there is. Kinda pricey so I'd suggest waiting during a holidays when there is a discount. However it is probably the best thing I've gotten for FSX.

First it would not work. I tried everything, but nothing happened and the add-on would not show up or work. Suddenly one day it worked and now it runs smoothly. The add-on is useful in some situations, but honestly I could live without it. For the money it's okay, but not a game changer. I recommend it because it began working.

I need help getting the activation code for RAAS Professional Add-On. I paid and down loaded the add on On Dec. 3 2018 . By mistake I copied the wrong code so I can't activate the program. I asked if I could return the add-on and put the money in my wallet so I could purchase it again and doing so would get the correct activation code. ( GET THIS.) I was told that too much time was used playing the game??????? How could I have played the game when I couldn't activate it. I kid you not.

Meh. I'd give a neutral review if I could. It's a bit expensive for what you get. This adds voice alerts for all sorts of things, like when you're approaching a runway or low over the ground, or got your flaps set wrong. But that's all it is. It's a nice to have a bit more information being presented. It's REALLY useful having the altitude call-outs on final as I usually play in virtual cockpit zoomed out maximum so I can't easily read the altitude when flaring. This allows me to just pay attention to the HSI and my speed :)

Half the stuff in the video and thumbnails are not actually in the sim itself, and most of the sounds don't work anyway...

WARNING: Do not buy this if you think you get call outs like 50, 40, 30, 20 ,10. However the other call outs it does extremely well. Not worth full price only maybe on a discount.

I would like to say that finally found the issue and works great if anybody still have the problem, hit me up!!

When I ran this, I got an error on loading FSX to say that the SCHEMA.INI file was missing (other reviewers have reported the same issue). After hours of searchiing t'interweb I found the solution (to my problem, at least)... 1. Locate the SCHEMA.INI file in your "SteamLibrary/steamapps/common/FSX/DLC/356960/RAAASPRO/Makerunways" folder and check that it contains the following: [r4.csv] Format=CSVDelimited CharacterSet=ANSI CurrencyThousandSymbol=, DecimalSymbol=. Col1=ICAO Text Col2=Rwy Long Col3=Latitude Double Col4=Longitude Double Col5=Altitude Long Col6=HeadingMag Single Col7=Length Long Col8=ILSfreq Single Col9=Width Long Col10=MagVar Single Col11=CentreLatitude Double Col12=CentreLongitude Double Col13=ThresholdOffset Long 2. Make a copy of the file. 3. Paste a copy of the file into your main FSX folder. 4. Don't forget to follow the instruction manual and run MakeRunways before you use RAAS for the first time. It took me most of today to sort this out but it eventually worked. GOOD LUCK. I have no idea why this seems to work OK for some folks, and not for others.

Since Installed any PMDG aircraft I used with RAAS Professional, CRASHES FSX: Steam. Once it announces the runway FSX: Steam crashes, and I have to start over. Once deactivated FSX steam doesn't crash. However I was able to solve the problem, no more crashes.

Very very unhappy with this product like a lot of people. It wotks and then it dosen't . So I am requesting a refund. The only thing I can say is do not buy via steam. I bought it outside of steam and it works fine. Also I do not like the way to get help from steam ( tickets ) and when you do make a ticket it takes for ever to get a reply. So lots of luck everybody...

Yeah,I'm gonna recommended this.It's tell you that what runway are you approach or what runway are you crossing.It will tell you that you got an unstable landing,long landing,taxiway take-off.It's pretty good. I'm gonna give 9.5/10

Not everything works, but the things that do work are actually a pretty cool addition to the default planes

I recommend getting this Add on as it helps a lot when it comes to unfamilar airports, making sure where you are at and what runway youre heading too. 10/10 wasn't dry or dredful - Rordan Gamsay

I love it. It takes very little resources in the sim, most won't even notice a change in performance or fps. I find it very handy while shooting ILS approaches in near zero vis down to minimums. WARNING: The video shown is misleading. This DLC doesn't add anything of value to FSX, this "RAAS" system doesn't actually announce runway aproximation directions, only tells you if you are in close proximity to an airport (Wow, thanks, couldn't do that before)

dosnt even work..waste of money!!!! loaded it up and it never even showed up!! asked for a refund and they said it was over the two hour refund ... NEVER WORKED!!! of course i continued to play my game!! I love to FLY!!! dont buy from STEAM!! They seem to not stand by there products!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Really realistic and helpfull for runways and taxiways. Also great for approaches, flaps etc.

Please HELP! I bought this product and everything just about works until i started to try and instal and download. After a week later, i managed to get it working but not everything which i hoped for was in the £13 i just wasted!!! Please can somone reply on how i can resolve this problem. Try to explain it as easy as possible without these fancy words. THANKS!!!

Can anyone help me I’ve downloaded RAAS professional on steam for fsx and I look into tools and can’t find the RAAS configurator.

I don't get the ground callouts on approach i.e 1000ft, 500ft till ground etc. Hope there's a fix for it.

Yet another Steam purchase that does not function correctly, a previous reviewer was absolutely correct when he said that RAAS DOES NOT call out altitude to runway. Like him, this was the one thing that i wanted to work but, it doesn't. I can take or leave the other call outs to be honest!!! The trailer clearly demonstrates altitude call out but its misleading and is actually fraudulent. As with everything on Steam though, its up to you to trawl the forums for answers. Steam refused a refund on my last DLC purchase which also DOES NOT function within FSX saying that I'd played it for more than 2 hours. No, I tried to get it to run for 17 hours, there is a significant difference between the 2. I have now made my last purchase on Steam as stuff is riddled with bugs and you have to do your own R&D to find a fix and, generally there isn't one!!!! AVOID AVOID AVOID

I love the DLC. It is awesome, and would recomend. To fix it, buy it, make sure it is installed (found under the play button on the library). Then you right click the games name, (on the left), and click on properties. Go to Local Files, and make sure the game is closed, then hit "Verify Integrity of Game Files". This may take a while. After that, restart steam, and play the game. Hope this helped those who said it wont work!

This is another nice to have when you can find it on sale for under $10 and aimed at those who enjoy flying anything larger than general aviation including bizjets, regional jets, and tubeliners.

Better buy this from fs2crew directly, Dovetail doesn't update addons in steam well.
