This game is marketed as an cozy IDLE game. Meaning you just pop it up and leave it windowed while you do other things. The being said PRO: -adorable aesthetic, I love that you can pick up the gourds and customize them -easy to build little hamlets and lots of options for buildings and furniture considering the extremely low price -how the gourdlets interact with their environment is so cute to watch and worth creating a ton of different types of environments to see how they interact with it -cute soundtrack, and you can customize each buildings music and ambient sound of which there are a bunch to choose from CON: - THE GOURDLET TRAIN. tdlr in order to unlock more content you have to mature your gourdlets. In order to get more gourdlets you need to summon the gourdlet train. It brings a single gourdlet. My suggestions to fix the train: 1. Make it so that the player can choose if the train comes automatically. It takes the game away from annoying clicker to a truly idle experience. 2. Don't have the screen force recenter on the train every time it arrives. It pulls you away from whatever you were doing to watch a 10 second animation of the train dropping off a gourd, which gets old fast. Minus the train deal its a fun little city builder with a cute cozy concept at an amazing price.

Everyone complaining about a lack of content seems to misunderstand what a $4.99 game is generally expected to entail. While I would love more base content or the ability to mod content in, it is exactly as advertised. No microtransactions. Still a few bugs (like when you place a building or go to delete one it may stick around visually and not functionally), but it has what you really need, like multi-save functionality, you can edit your gourdlets now/delete as needed, you can change the color of most buildings. It's mostly just a stim to relax with. Change the seasons, watch the landscape, listen to the music, build up or take away. I do think if they ever expand, perhaps to help with the loading so we can make multiple areas: There should be multiple parts of a map you can make. Load one area, hit the arrow keys on the outskirts of your grid to go to the next area. That way you're not cramming in all the decorations into one space. I'd also love multiple levels, given that we have some buildings that look like they're two-story. Overall? Chill, good. Worth the price.

I really really really want to like this game, but it feels like it just has no depth and substance. the visuals are amazing sure, but apart from that? not much. There are only 4 angles or so to look at what you're building, and the objects seem limited very quickly, especially if you want to build whimsical little towns with lots of detail and realise halfway through it all looks repetitive due to lack of items to chose from. The Gourdlets have zero character and don't interact much with the world around them. They don't go into houses by themselves, but only enter when you change your view to be inside of the house. Decorating inside of the house is a horrible experience (sadly). Apart from the items being weirdly sized sometimes, my biggest issue is that if you hang something on the wall, you can still see it even if you change your perspective and the wall gets see-through, you can STILL see the item hung onto the wall. really annoying. If the changing of perspective gets better, the Gourdlets get personalities and can actually properly interact with items in a way that feels natural, I'd consider going back and giving it another try. But right now, I cannot recommend spending money on it. (I got it on sale & in a bundle, and even with that price reduction it feels too much.)

This game was ok, but I will never go back to it. I love the simplicity, interactions, and hats. But why make me grind to unlock just a few items, and then have no true sandbox mode?

If you're looking for a fish bowl style sandbox game then this might still do it for you. But things do get a little limited after a while and it sucks that the only way you can get the Gourdlets to interact with stuff in the buildings is if you literally go inside of those buildings. Not a bad game, but probably wouldn't have paid for if I knew how limited the content was.

A very cute and relaxing little game. It's strangely satisfying to watch these little gourd creatures running around the colony you build for them. But I really would like more content and things to do. The selection of items, decorations, and colors is still very limited. Still I'm looking forward to the multiplayer version.
Excellent game! My first time playing cozy games and i really like this one.
Why that game is great? - Building: easy, funny and rewarding. The play style remember me the RollerCoaster Tycoon (which is one pf my favorite games at all). - Gourdlets: very satisfied to see they interact with what you build. - No capitalism: i laughed when i read this explanation in game. This concept works very well in that game. Just build and chill. Suggestion to the Dev’s: - Add happiness status to each Gourdlets, maybe one of entire village. I know that Gourdlets gonna be happy with anything what i build. But i think this increase one layer of individuality to each Gourdlet (what they think, want, etc). - Once the plantation grows, there is no more maintenance or interaction by the Gourdlets (sorry if i dont understand how this should work). It would be very nice if Gourdlets reap what was sown and restart the cycle. - Winter theme would be an excellent addition! Buy this game and be happy. Must play.

In all honesty this a great cosy just chilling type of game. The Gourdlets themselves are cute and I loved how they interacted with objects. As a Completionist the only sucky part was how long it takes for the Gourdlets to bloom enought flowers to unlock all the objects. Other than that my only real pain i had was that sometimes i would click on start building button or an object so i could place it down and I would end up getting put inside a house behind the button. Overall 9/10 cosy game thats great for chilling while talking with friends and a 9/10 game to 100% grind wasn't to bad compared to others.

It's fun and cute, but I wish that there were animals like a cow for the barn that you could place. I also wish that you could select lot purposes, like this building is a house or this building is a store. Other than it lacking objects, I like this game.

A simple, relaxing and fun game. The cartoonish, very basic graphics tell you a lot about the feel of the game. It isn't exciting and isn't supposed to be. If you want something charming to chill out to, then this is almost perfect. It would be nice not to be restricted to the four view angles, all of which are at 45 degrees to the map layout. I realise that those viewpoints are due to the restrictions of isometric graphics so perhaps a birdseye map view would be helpful.

A very cute little game that does what it says on the tin. I love the aesthetic, and while I would obviously love to have more items in the game, I think the casual, idle gameplay is already perfect.

This is the first time I've posted a review, so apologies if it's not to standard. Gourdlets is amazing. The art style is unique and adorable, and you can get entranced into this game for ages. I'd highly recommend it. The only issue I have is that the amount of furniture and decorations available is quite small. The parcel train gives you more items, yes, but it's still not a lot. I've only played for 9 hours but I've already used all the furniture items/wallpapers.

Gets dull pretty quickly. Not a lot of items to decorate with. And since the Gourdlets have no opinons on anything it doesn't matter what you do at all. Would have liked to have been able to assign homes to certain Gourdlets and design homes according to their tastes but they have no tastes.

The coziest of cozy games. Cute, little guys that you make a cute little island for. They are always happy. Decorate a little island and then put building down and decorate those.

Very cute. You need a controller (Dualshock works). The Gourdlets interact with things, which is fun to watch. It's a city builder mainly, which is not my thing really. I'm not sure I'll play this game much because I feel unmotivated without some kind of a goal to work towards. It's a little too abstract for me. There are some things you can unlock by giving the Gourdlets more objects to interact with and getting parcel deliveries. There are few color & design options, which is quite limiting. I would like more trees & house plants for example. Will update this if I play more.

A lovely little game that's easy to pop in and out of. While it's easy to play, it does take a lot of time and effort to get the final unlockables. The story is near nonexistent to let you sandbox however you'd like. Cute graphics, and a great premise. I only wish they'd let you customize the colors of every item you place, and more options for city building besides living residence style buildings. A market or shop selection would really make this game go the distance! Also for whatever weird reason, there's tons of items you can put on tables while inside buildings, but outside you're limited to about four different pots and that's it. It's got odd moments and a fair share of quirks, but it's easy to love the game and its low key atmosphere.

Very cute and relaxing to play around with! The safisfaction of the game is watching the little guys go around rather than raising levels and numbers (but it wouldn't be unwelcome to have a little bit of a town rating system to keep you going), and decorating is easy and fun. I agree with others that having a few more idle progression elements would go a long way, but it's still a fun desktop toy if you're looking for something uncomplicated.

For $5 Gourdlets is a very cute little game. It definitely is more idle than game, and like a lot of people I wish to see more items, but I think its worth its price.

Gourdlets is a cute little city builder for little plant folk. You can freely decorate the island including terrain, buildings, and room interiors, and you can customise the gourdlets themselves. This is a fun little game to relax and be creative with. I wouldn't focus much on the achievements but rather enjoying the game; It can be kind of grind-y and you can get them all from just playing the game :)

I am really liking this game so far! I do wish there was a recenter button when my screen starts to drift (streaming issue I'm facing when I alt-tab) but I've learned to click on the focus on Gourdlet. I also really wish there was more content. But despite these tiny issues, this game is so delightful and cute! 4/5 <3 I can't wait for Gourdlets Together!!

The game is cute a has fun elements. If you're into playing chill games where you can decorate places - this is great! It has great sound effects, different weathers and seasons. You can make some really cute places in the game. Unfortunately, if you want to 100% the game be prepared to have it run idly in the background for hours with next to zero input from you. Gourdlets take progressively more time to mature which, in turn, slows down greatly unlocking for the few unlockable items. The maturing process is not explained and it's difficult to see how long it will take until they mature. Also, you are not told how many of the "points" you need to call the train that brings you the unlockable. This feels like play time is being artificially inflated. Decreasing the wait times would help with this. Still recommending the game. Getting the last achievement is optional and the rest of the game is still really nice.

I honestly adore this little game. The Gourdlets are so adorable and their little animations are very cute and silly. Items/decorations are a little bit limited which means you have to get a bit creative with how you decorate, but that almost makes it more fun. My only wish is that it is eventually updated to allow for the indoor items to be used outside of buildings as well. It's nice to play in short bursts for maybe 30mins or a hour or so

Limited activities but infinite potential. You can do a lot with the few items currently available, but most will hit a limit in their creativity after the novelty wears off. Or you could be like me and try to find ways around the limitations and make beautiful islands. It feels a lot like what Minecraft felt like in very early stages (Like Classic or Alpha), in both a good and a bad way, but mostly good. The system is more reminiscent of Animal Crossing (New Horizons/Happy Home Paradise). Gourds are super cute and give me pikmin vibes. Strongly suggest it for the price, but some updates would be very much welcome. Keep an eye out for the multiplayer game "Gourdlets Together" that is in development, too.

As a gourd expert myself, I know for a fact that gourds too need a place to call home.... The chillest city building game ever. No money. No worrying about crime, water, food, etc. Just build to your hearts content!

Very cozy and adorable game! Its nice to have a town building game without strict rules or building for specific towns - people. The gourdlets are incredibly cute characters who seem happy with every new thing you place and they get to explore. Design and placements are completely up to you!

This is a very cute passive game. It's easy to lose track of time while decorating towns and the interiors of mini gourdlet homes. I dislike that gourdlet's have free range to roam around inside houses while I'm decorating, it's distracting. I do wish that there was a wider selection of items and appliances to decorates homes and outdoors with. I would also love to see more holiday decorations but not just for halloween like how there is currently. Though, i would not complain is more spooky halloween decorations were added. More different types of buildings would be neat as well.

I actually followed the game's development on tiktok, and I must say, it came out pretty neat, the experience is nice, the creatures are very cute, the music is chill, it's a good game to let open while you do other things or to calm down after a tiring busy day. It gives JUST what it offers. But that being said, I think the game could have more updates with more content, like, more decors for different things, adding personality to the gourdlets, more items to unlock, maybe explore other player's island to get inspo, a way to create your own items, because otherwise it feels like I just sit and wait, and while that is calming, makes things a bit dull overtime, like, I build my city, maybe write a lore in my head, but that's it, eventually there won't be much for me to do.
