I'm not really a Bloodrayne fan by any stretch, yet I happen to own copies of the first two Bloodrayne games (including their remaster editions given away for free if you own the copies of the original). This one got my interest because of how it has presented itself, that maybe something of merit could be brought to the series. I was proven wrong. All I know about Bloodrayne is that it just cashed in on the vampire media that was popular for it's time, borrowed a lot of abused tropes and the main character was totally designed for cheap sex appeal.
The stories never made any sense and let's not even talk about the movies.
I think Bloodrayne Betrayal harms whatever dignity that was even left of the series if there was any. The controls and gameplay are sloppy and sluggish. The animations just lock you into them for seconds at a time. The soundtrack is generic. The story is again just boring and nothing interesting to write home about. The artstyle in some parts, look good, but in some areas like the main menu, looks absolutely amateurish. The kind you'd find from some fan art on DeviantArt, that kind of level.
The kind of care shows itself in this game alone. I don't think it does any benefits for Bloodrayne as a whole except tell people "oh yeah, she's still here!" kind of way.
And I've tried Fresh Bites too, thinking that something could've been improved. Nope, nothing. Now you can experience the same stuff but in 4K, with voice acting and maybe a difficulty tweak. Every negative I've listed is STILL there and the artstyle with Fresh Bites looks even more amateurish and cheap! How did they go even more backwards?
Not recommended.
